I think my passion for construction came early, like I used to play a lot of Lego

as a kid and I realized that I like construction, I wasn't sure if it's

actually what I wanted to do.

I'm studying architecture and construction management

I think it was probably in year 11 and 12, I had a really large passion for Vis-Comm.

I was tossing up between industrial design, interior design or architecture.

I kind of felt that architecture incorporated all three.

I went with it and I haven't regretted it since.

Ultimately, if you become a construction manager, you oversee construction projects and you manage all

the different aspects of them. This course gives me the opportunity with the

skills that we're learning, so when I finish I'll be able to work on large

projects from start to finish and see the whole project take place, and sort of

get that sense of achievement as well at the end of the day.

It's easy to travel in, there's always parking available.

It's just a really nice vibe in Geelong I guess

Also the campus is just beautiful, it's right on the waterfront and for an

architectural student that inspiration is just perfect.

We have access to large studio spaces where we can work with other students and it's just great for inspiration.

We've got workshops, and we have laser cutting,

We've got architecture studio, an open access studio.

The open access studio is this big space, you can walk around and see all of these other

amazing works that students have done.

Deakin offers site visits to construction students. They organise them for us and they've been fantastic opportunities.

Walking through them you learn so much more because you can

visually see it it's there, it's real, it's not just on a screen which is

really good for understanding what goes on.

Being able to go out on-site for me is always just so inspiring.

Sometimes you get bogged down in the minutia of it all, and in the books and with all the assignments...

and going out on-site just reminds me of what I'm working towards. We're creating the world for tomorrow.

The benefits is studying a combined degree in architecture and construction management

I find when I'm doing architecture subjects, my construction side knows that there are standards involved that I have to obey.

Construction is one of the leading industries in our country so

architecture and construction management both can have such a huge impact.

You're building buildings that people are going to live in, people are gonna work in,

building hospitals where lives are going to be saved, whatever you know, you can look

back and say, I managed this project, I worked on that, and it's there forever.

You know, it just feels like a very fulfilling sort of career, and I'm excited for it.

I'm looking forward to it. So I'm keen the future, yeah.

When I'm not out here drinking a brewski at Persimmon Hollow

or nerding out on the financial markets

I'm strategizing for the Stetson University business ethics team

While my southern boy's gonna get some tacos, I'm bringing New York-style into this.

I'm talking legalese. I'm talking coffee and bagels.

At the end of the day it's all about the ethics.

When I'm not managing a four million dollar portfolio or driving this football through the uprights,

I'm helping the ethics team out with their financials .

I've been grinding all year for Stetson Football. Time to grind it out in D.C., baby.

Let's get it.

2019 State of the University Address - Duration: 1:33.

- Standing on this stage today I can honestly say

that I am more optimistic about the future

of our great university than I have ever been.

Not only are our students finishing in record time,

they are also landing jobs and positions in graduate school

like never before.

Our annual economic impact on the state

is now estimated at $6.3 billion.

That's a big impact on individuals,

families, and communities.

Our research enterprise is flourishing as well.

These are clear signs of our expanding impact

and growing presence on the world stage.

But these achievements did not happen by chance.

Behind every record high, behind every jump in the rankings,

you will see an inter-connected family

of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends

who love the University of Georgia.

The success of our institution is testament,

above all else, to the strength of our community,

the Bulldog Nation.

We are proving that the future of public higher education

in America is being molded right here where it began

at the University of Georgia.

Universities Minister Chris Skidmore visits Kingston University - Duration: 2:12.

so I've come to Kingston University as the relatively new University's minister

just to look at some of the excellent work the universities are doing about

improving access and participation particularly for black and ethnic

minority communities and I've seen that Kingston's done a fantastic job in

lowering sort of access and participation gaps between black and

white pupils also attainment gaps as well and I think you know for me as the

Universities Minister trying to expand some of the examples of best practice

you know I've seen here at Kingston is going to be really crucial but it's going

to places like Kingston which clearly already recognize the need to make sure

that University is a reflective and modern society in modern Britain where I

want to draw inspiration from so we hosted a visit by the new Universities

Minister today and I was really proud to show him some of the incredible work

that we do as a university so he got to speak to students who are from really

challenging backgrounds and care backgrounds from a strange backgrounds

and learn how we support them to get a good education and get on in the world

he saw some of the outreach work we did we went to the lab on a lorry and saw

eight-year-olds looking through microscopes and opening up a

whole world of STEM to them and then I had a chance at the end for a private

conversation to remind him both of the good work we do the sector leading work

we do here at Kingston University and also the role we've been playing in

nudging the government to take the issues of social inclusion and

attainment for all and the value of diversity more seriously because no one

in my family like my mum and dad haven't been to University and it was kind of a

very new experience for me and they weren't quite sure what to expect just

like me the university in general is really supportive from just support with

your study so with essays if you need someone to have a look at your essays

check you're on the right track and check your referencing all the way to

just general help we have a personal tutor that you can go to for

support if you have any issues

📚 Studying at Malmö University | How to find course literature - Duration: 2:54.

To find your course literature, it's always good to start early.

You can find information about the books you need in Canvas and the syllabus on the University's website.

Now I'm going to talk to Markus from the library. Let's find out more.

My three best tips for finding relevant literature would be:

Number one, use more words when searching.

If I for example look for something related to leadership, I should add search terms

like 'organisation', or 'group dynamics' to your search to get closer to what your looking for.

Number two, use the filters in the search.

When you get a lot of search hits you can use a filter in the search engine

to, for example, choose date of publication.

You can choose what type of material, you can choose language of publication

that will get you closer to home as well

and number three, use what you find to add to your search.

you can find lots of new terms, tags, keywords linked to the material that you have found.

So you can add it to your future searches and get closer to what your looking for.

If you can't find the book in the library's search, you shouldn't be worried.

There are several other ways of finding your book.

For example, the national library search engine Libris.

Here you can search for books in all of Sweden's university libraries.

So you can find it even in Stockholm or Umeå for example.

We also have an interlibrary service, where we can borrow books from other university libraries

to Malmö and lend it to you second hand.

If that doesn't work, you can make an acquisition proposal, that means

that you can ask us to by the book instead and include it into our catalogue.

Apart from borrowing books from the library, you can also buy them

new or used from different places.

For example, at 'Campusbokhandeln', where you can find used books for a cheaper price.

Search in Facebook groups, such as these ones.

There are lots of student discounts when you are a student and want to buy books.

You can download the apps 'Studentkortet' or 'Mecenat' to compare prices when you want to buy somehting.

I really hope you will enjoy your stay at Malmö University.

And good luck with your studies.

University Of Iowa Student, 18, Tragically Dies After Being Found Outdoors While Wind Chill Was -51 - Duration: 2:55.

An 18-year-old University of Iowa premed student was found unresponsive outdoors as extreme arctic weather brought the windchill in the Midwest down to -51 degrees. He tragically died later in a hospital.

A University of Iowa student tragically died after being found unresponsive outdoors during the polar vortex in the Midwest. Campus police found Gerald Belz, 18, unresponsive outside of a campus building just before 3 a.m. local time on Jan. 30. At the time the authorities found him, the wind chill outdoors was -51 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Weather Service.

Belz, who was in his second semester at the Iowa City-based university and hailed originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was transported to a hospital where he later died, a spokesperson for the University of Iowa told People. The spokesperson added that no foul play is suspected. The investigation into the teen's death is ongoing, but officials believe the cause of death is weather-related. Belz's family told local CBS affiliate KGAN in an interview that doctors confirmed Belz didn't have any alcohol in his system at the time.

Belz's father, Michael Belz, described his son as a "quiet, tough guy," according to People. He also told KCCI-TV of Des Moines that his son, who was a premed student, wanted to be a cardiologist. "I want people to remember him as a compassionate person," Michael Belz told the news outlet. "He had many more friends than I was aware of. He didn't bring many friends over to the house, but we knew he had lots of friends."

The University of Iowa took to Twitter to post a tribute to Belz. "We are saddened by the loss of a student from the Hawkeye family," the statement, issued by Dean of Students Dr. Angie Reams, read. "Losing a fellow student and member of our Hawkeye family can be very difficult. I encourage you to reach out if you are in need of support."

The Midwest, from the Dakotas to Western New York, is experiencing some of the coldest temperatures to hit the region in over 20 years, according to People. It was -23 degrees Fahrenheit in Chicago and -30 in Wisconsin on the morning of Jan. 30.

Students suspended for saying 'it's fun to rape 100 girls' allowed back to uni - Duration: 4:15.

Students who made sickening jokes about raping women have reportedly been allowed back on campus after winning an appeal

The group chat between 11 students at Warwick University sparked a fierce backlash last year when screenshots of the disturbing messages were revealed

One of the group said it was 'fun to just go wild and rape 100 girls', while another said: 'Love Hitler, hate n****s and Jews and Corbyn.' One student said it was 'fun to just go wild and rape 100 girls' (Picture: The Tab Warwick) The university suspended all 11 students pending further investigation, and said the messages were 'extremely serious' and a 'significant breach' of its policy

However, student paper The Boar now claims two of the male students, who were banned from campus for 10 years, have had this reduced to just one year after winning an appeal

This means they can potentially return to university life in September for the start of the new academic year

Advertisement Advertisement  Another four students who were told to leave or withdraw from the university, can also reportedly return to their studies later this year

The university would not confirm if the students will be returning next year as they are 'unable' to comment on individual cases

A spokesman insisted the university has a 'robust' student disciplinary process in place which includes a 'detailed investigation'

The students were suspended after the uni received formal complaints (Picture: The Tab Warwick) According to The Tab, new screenshots revealed a second group chat was set up after the first was shut down

The 'leaked report' claims the university knew about the second group chat, dubbed 'Boys 2.0', after one of original chat's members told them about it

The students who sent the rape jokes have since been identified by The Tab.  Ben Clements, a modern language student, reportedly showed little remorse for his comment about 'going wild and raping 100 girls', as he said 'let's do it all again'

Josh Smith, who made the remark about Hitler and other racial slurs, reportedly said: 'I just don't believe for a second we are any worse than any other lads or girls group chat.' Ben Clements, a modern language student, was identified as one of the students involved (Picture: The Tab Warwick) Warwick University would not confirm if the students will be returning next year (Picture: Wikicommons) The report also claimed how some of the students, when being interrogated by the university, said they only posted the offensive material 'to sustain friendships with the other students in the group'

Advertisement Advertisement  Megan Wain, a politics and history student, says she was one of the women the group made comments about

She said she was 'furious, upset, and appalled' with the university's decision to let them back in, adding that she does not 'feel safe' anymore

More: UK Schoolgirl, 13, found hanged told teachers she was 'scared to go home' Now police are looking for a Lionel Richie lookalike Son of wealthy couple killed two in Audi crash but we can't name him She wrote on Facebook: 'All of the comments made were about female students of the university – including my friends and I – yet the perpetrators are able to return

'I'm furious that Warwick university has granted appeals to allow them to return next year, even after a second group chat emerged with messages from the same perpetrators, stating they were not sorry and should "do it all again"

'I'm furious, upset, and appalled with my university, and frankly I don't feel safe

I know there are so many students who feel the same way, yet nothing is being done.'  A Warwick University spokesman said: 'We are unable to comment further on individual student discipline cases, but we can assure you that the University has a robust student discipline procedure that includes a detailed investigation, and consideration of the case by a committee of senior academic staff and students' union sabbatical officers.' International Day - University of Perpignan Via Domita - Duration: 4:10.

We are at the University of Perpignan and we are organizing our first international day:

a day dedicated to students

as well as to the university's teaching staff, technical staff,

to encourage, to promote international mobility.

Mobility for students is a fundamental axis.

CEOs are now seeking CVs that include language skills and an experience abroad.

It is a bonus, it increases the employability of our students.

Hanane : We have changed countries, continents, study programs;

this shows that we are able to adapt.

Didier Aussel : Each year, about 20 percent of students

who enroll at the University of Perpignan

are foreign students with 120 nationalities represented,

almost a national record.

Hanane : I wanted to know other people,

to see other horizons, to discover other cultures, traditions;

I wanted to have another worldview.

Tatiana : You become more curious; you become a little more interesting

because you encounter many new things so it is an enriching experience.

Walid : You are not only going to study,

there is so much to do.

You will visit museums and go to the beach.

You will know people, learn about cultures, languages: it's fantastic.

Didier Aussel : One of the objectives of this day

is to explain to students the upsides to undertaking an international mobility

beyond the cultural aspects but also for their careers and in their curriculaon one hand,

and on the other hand to explain the means

put in place to organize this mobility,

to financially support this mobility.

Chandrashekhar : I found it difficult first of all,

just the language is the first barrier,

and be prepared for the administration, so to make a lot of papers.

Valentin : Do not be afraid to spend weeks and weeks

learning from newspapers, the internet and other sources.

You must not neglect this step, because the more you will master

what you will see there and the less stressed we will be.

Tatiana : For those who are afraid:

you have to face your fears.

You face them and then everything will be fine.

It comes with time, I think.

Didier Aussel : There is no risk, we are here to support you

and so are structures like the Occitan region, which can help financially.

There is a tradition,

the universities that welcome students are also extremely open to international mobility.

Amara : We come to acquire knowledge here in France

and it would be great if others went to discover our study programs.

Chouaib : Speaking with another person,

for example a Norwegian or German or English,

is an enriching experience.

Didier Aussel : The underlying theme of this event

is really interaction, interculturality.

Students who come study here at the University of Perpignan

present their countries, make students want to go there,

and we explain the benefits and the means set up to make it happen.

Sylvain : I would like to go work abroad

at the end of my studies

and therefore to have a first experience abroad with this mobility.

Jérémy : There are many things that are done differently abroad

so it really makes you want to go out and see what else is being done.

Didier Aussel : The first quality that we will find

in a student who has made a mobility

here we are speaking about a mobility of a few months obviously,

to get to grips with a local culture

is really this open-mindedness.

Hanane : Dare, go ahead, learn!

Valentin : It's almost interesting finally to feel in danger and to learn from it

Jérémy : It can only be beneficial: we go and at worst, we do not like it and we return,

but we have nothing to lose in going.

Walid : Such an experience will remain engraved forever.

I will never forget it.
