Another Korean victim of Japanese sexual slavery during World War II has passed away.

According to a civic group that advocates for the victims, a 93 year old woman, known

to the media only by her surname Lee, died early Monday morning after suffering from

poor health . Lee was kidnapped on her way home from work

in 1942... at the age of 17.

She was forced to serve dozens of Japanese soldiers everyday in brothels in Manchuria.

With Lee's death, there are only 24 South Korean victims still living.

Seoul and Tokyo agreed in 2015 to set up a foundation to help the victims -- the so-called

"comfort women."

But the two sides are now working to disband the foundation... because the victims say

the 2015 deal did not reflect their wishes.

Japanese fans celebrate Osaka's rise to top of tennis world - Duration: 3:52.

TOKYO (AP) — Led by a congratulatory tweet from the prime minister, Japan reveled in Naomi Osaka's dramatic Australian Open win on Sunday

Osaka beat Petra Kvitova 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-4 on Saturday to claim a second consecutive Grand Slam singles title

The 21-year-old Osaka also became the first tennis player from Japan to reach No

1 in the rankings.  Osaka was born in Japan — her mother is Japanese, her father is Haitian — and she moved to New York at age 3

"What an impressive performance," Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe tweeted. "Congratulations to Naomi Osaka on winning the Australian Open! "  Osaka's grandfather, who lives in the remote fishing village of Nemuro on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido, said Sunday he was relieved

"My blood pressure is up," 74-year-old Tetsuo Osaka said. "I'm really proud of how she won

She is so dear to me."  When asked he was going to give her a congratulatory gift, Tetsuo Osaka said he hoped to be on the receiving end of a gift from his granddaughter now

Beyond dignitaries and relatives, average fans took pride in Osaka's win.  "As a Japanese person, I'm very proud," said 28-year Satoshi Mizutani, who works in finance

"She showed a lot of character in coming back after dropping the second set. I think she is an inspiration to young people in Japan who can learn to do whatever they want if they work hard for it

"  Osaka has been a star in Japan since she beat Serena Williams in the U.S. Open final last year

She became the first woman to win back-to-back majors since Williams in 2015.  Her performance at the Australian Open has topped daily news coverage in Japan

"Osaka becomes first Japanese Australian Open champion, Heading to World No. 1," read the headline of the Nikkansports online edition

Osaka's results on the court and her quirky sense of humor have sent her popularity skyrocketing, and her list of endorsements now includes major brands like Adidas, Nissan, Yonex, Citizen, Nissin and Shiseido

Osaka's victory at the U.S. Open was the first Grand Slam singles title by either a man or woman of Japanese nationality

Kimiko Date reached the semifinals of the Australian Open in 1994, the 1995 French Open and Wimbledon in 1996 but never made it to a Grand Slam final

On the men's side, Kei Nishikori was runner-up at the 2014 U.S. Open, losing to Marin Cilic in the final

Osaka's rise to the top of the tennis world couldn't come at a better time. With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics just over a year away she could become the face of the Games

"It would be fantastic to see her represent Japan," said Daisuke Aizawa said. "I think she would be the favorite to win gold and that would be a huge boost for Japan

"  When asked about being the face of the Olympics, Osaka was her usual quirky self

"Yikes! if that happens, I'd be very honored," Osaka said. "Hopefully for their sake, they don't do that

"

JAPAN VLOG #7 - ANIMATE & KAITEN SUSHI - Duration: 9:33.

That is sweet potato with ice-cream

Jiae wanted to try it since long time ago

Let's see how it is

How do you eat this?

Look, let's eat

For me it is also the first time

It looks good

How is it?

It's good!

Is it cold or hot?

The ice-cream is cold but...

the sweet potato is warm

That's why the contrast is very nice

It was delicious!

But now we have to find a place where to throw it away

Because in Japan there are no trashcans in the street

There's no way to find a place where to throw away the trash

And they say that you have to keep your garbage in your pockets until you arrive home

However in Spain there is a trashcan every 10 meters

but it is more dirty than here

"Use me", Jiae calls them "use me"

But seriously, here there are no trashcans but it's cleaner than in Spain

What a contradiction, right?

We have to be more clean

We came to Animate

Or "animeeto"

Otaku's paradise

That's the Shonen Jump...

and other magazines

Let's see what there is over here...

Manga

A lot of manga...and super cheap

Wow so much manga

Here are the Pokemon stuff

Damn, so cute

I want it, I want it

Here is the figure's zone

Dragon ball...

Naruto...

Wow so many figures

Jiae is getting very bored here

a bit right?

The truth is that I wanted to see this place

But there are not so many things that interest me either

In the past maybe there was something but...

It's been a while that I don't follow these things

And I don't know anything

Moreover, how would you use this?

You put it in your bag right?

That's already too much for me

Waw, I want this!

This mushroom

It brings back memories

This is the last dinner we are going to have in Japan

And we came with Jiae's parents

to a Kaiten Sushi!

Which is called 'Kura Sushi'

Green tea, right?

Green tea

It's called 'matcha'

This is how you order the food here

Wah, this looks good

How do you...?

I'm going to order...the 'Tonkotsu Ramen'

one...

Order

Wah isn't that too much?

Is this wasabi very spicy?

Wah, I can smell it already

This one seems to be very spicy

Hhhm...I love it

This one is delicious

Let's see...let's try...there

So good!!

Here...in Japan...

it's another story

I'm not kidding, it's delicious

another one

Looks at this one

It looks amazing!

There is not this in Spain

It's not this delicious

And look, here the amount of rice is much smaller

and there is more fish

In Spain the make it with a lot of rice and little fish

Yes

So good!

Woah!

Ramen!

It smells amazing!

Is it good?

Delicious!

Take the meat!

Let's see how is this one

Made with meat

So good!

Really delicious!

And now all the dishes we ate...go there

She has a baby

all what she ate

We ate so well...how many? 30 dishes?

31 dishes

We are 31 dishes

two people

Ah! four people!

I love this place

I'm going to miss it

Byebye

Byebye...sushi byebye

Good bye sushi

We came to the supermarket to do a last shopping before going back to Spain

Japanese things

Show me a bit what we have here

Look, we bought...

Furikake!

A lot of furikake

All the flavours

but well, there are many more!

Look, look, look! a lot!

'Hayashi'

There is 'hayashi' as well

It is similar to curry right?

It is very good

And 'tsuyu'

'Tsuyu'?

To make japanese food right?

And also this

To make sushi

But a bit different

Yeah, it's different

It is very good

And over here...

Look

Here...'Dorayakis'

They have red bean paste inside

As I always say "It's not chocolate"

Many people think that it is chocolate

But it is not chocolate

And butter

With butter

And look, this...

so pretty

This is very japanese

In Japan they always present everything very nicely

Everything is very pretty and well packed

Look, this...

What's that? Could it be real gold?

Sometimes I have seen food with real gold inside

It could be

And this, very well packed...

But the problem is that

It's very pretty, but it always has so much plastic

It's always plastic bags inside of plastig bags

This one too

Plastic inside of plastic

It's all plastic inside of plastic

And it generates a lot of waste

Too much plastic everywhere

However, no one can defeat japanese at making a beautiful presentation

Everything is gorgeous

겨울 나고야 여행 Nagoya, Japan traveling [한국어도 자막 필수!] - Duration: 11:40.

Well

Hello, I'm Yonyony. I traveled from Nagoya for two nights and three days from December 14th to 16th.

I tried to make a movie that I am proud of to have boasted that I traveled so well because I came to play so much fun (?)

Actually I was going to leave on the 13th, but on the 13th there was a lot of snow in Seoul? So I missed the plane because I was stumbling.

So the next day, I almost never missed the feeling of a sense of emancipation that started almost overnight and landed at the airport the last time I came down to the airport at the latest.

Because I write And it's the same again this time.

And then again, the trip plan did not work, and once I got on the train to the city,

I thought Nagoya was a small country town, but it was a big city. Since then, I have been totally confused.

I could see Midland Square right in front of me, so I went into Midland Square first.

It was an enormous office shop with shopping and corporate buildings, and I jumped all of that up and went up to the observatory. There is a little bit of price for an observatory.

But when you come to this observatory, you can see all the views of Nagoya city. I can see at a glance

All of the building walls are made of tin glass, so you can see all directions in the north, south, east and west.

Even if you look at it, the size of the city is huge. Who said Nagoya was a rural village

But the city is big, but there are not many tourists,

I left the Midlands and headed to Noritake Crab Garden. There are not many tourists in Nagoya itself, but Noritake Park

Nagoya's representative sightseeing spots are not included in the list, so it was a more subdued look. So I really did not expect much

It was so beautiful than I thought. After walking around the park, I walked to Sakae Street.

Sakae Park is the busiest street in Nagoya

I heard that the Japanese Apple store was much cheaper than Korea before I traveled

I also found the Apple Store as soon as I came to try to buy something cheaper and cheaper. But the Nagoya people do not know how to speak English

A foreigner barely found the way. The Apple Store is very simple and clean.

I bought hot air pots these days at a price of about 45,000 won less than Korea.

And then back out into the street If you see a convenience store,

I went to the nightlife of Nagoya by buying famous cream bread at a convenience store in Japan.

Actually, I wanted to talk while walking around without narration, but I was so embarrassed that I could not do it.

So I finally walked without saying a word, and I got to the Oasis building. Is the building a little pretty? Next to this building is Central Park and next to it

I have the Nagoya Tower. I went to the Nagoya Tower to the end, but the oasis building was just a shopping mall

I did not go down.

On the first day, I had a lot of conversation with David, who I met in Nagoya, and I had a good time and slept until 2 o'clock.

And the next day I was originally planning to go to Nagoya Castle, but David said that there is an elevator in Nagoya Castle.

It is a modern building with almost no classical remains, and the nearby Inuyama Castle is much more beautiful and recommended

I headed to Inuyama Castle. Inuyama Castle is about 40 minutes from Nagoya by train.

It was really cool. Than you think. I would not have known this place if I did not meet David, but it's more than I expected.

There were a lot of tourists on the weekend, except for me, all of them were Japanese people.

It was impressive to pray for each person's wishes.

I'm Japanese, all I learned is Annie. So I wanted to understand, but I did not understand ...

I still appreciated the good scenery and came up to Inuyama Castle. I can go up to Inuyama Castle with an admission fee.

The way up is really dangerous. Still, when you come up, the view is again. In the morning,

In the afternoon I went to meet my mother Brazilian mother who I came to Brazil.

I went to Dick Temple (?) With my mother who lives in Komoyaki, Nagoya. I prayed for a son to be born.

And two hours after praying, I got a son at a supermarket in Komoyaki. Papa Julio gave me a cute rabbit doll.

And I stopped by a Peruvian restaurant run by my mom's cousin.

I went back to my mother's house and had a really good meal.

The things that used to be fun in the past, no matter how time passes, I think it's always fun to talk about it.

I have not had a chance to eat Japanese food because I have had so much fun with so many good people

I was so happy and it was time to distribute.

And this trip goes up and down the cubic

It seems to be a pleasant memory.

I hope you enjoyed this video.

Japan's low-altitude flybys could be discussed at naval symposium: Defense ministry - Duration: 2:22.

Tensions have risen sharply between Seoul and Tokyo in recent weeks... over low-altitude

flights by Japanese planes near South Korean warships.

According to the nation's defense ministry, the issue could be put on the table at this

year's Western Pacific Naval Symposium, a forum for countries in the region to discuss

naval affairs.

Kan Hyeong-woo has our top story.

On Monday, Seoul's Ministry of National Defense said the dispute over the Japanese warplanes'

"agressive," low-altitude flybys could be discussed in working-level talks at the Western

Pacific Naval Symposium... set for April.

"If there's a need to talk about the flybys at the working-level meeting,... then it should

be discussed so regulations and guidelines can be established to prevent similiar incidents

in the future."

If the matter does come up at the Western Pacific Naval Symposium,... then a guideline

for evaluating the flights... could be the Code of Unplanned Encounters at Sea, or CUES.

The CUES was signed at the symposium in 2014... by 21 Pacific nations,... including South

Korea, the U.S. and Japan to prevent tensions escalating between different countries' militaries

at sea.

Meanwhile,... Japan is reportedly rethinking its plan to send warships to an international

maritime exercise that will begin in waters off the Korean Peninisula from late April

to early May.

But Seoul's Defense Ministry says a final decision on which countries will join the

exercise and on what scale... will be made in working-level talks between the participating

countries likely to take place at the end of February.

Tensions seemed to rise late last week also... when the South Korean defense minister paid

a visit on Saturday to Naval Operations Command in Busan,... following a trip by the Japanese

defense minister the day before to a naval airbase near Yokohama.

Experts have suggested that Japan could be using the military dispute to increase public

support for the Abe administration.

The military spat erupted back in December when Japan claimed that a South Korean warship

used its targeting radar on a Japanese plane,... something Seoul says there is no evidence

for.

And last week, Seoul's Defense Ministry released photographs of a Japanese warplane conducting

a low-altitude flyby.

South Korean Navy's First Fleet cancels visit to Japan amid protracted military spat - Duration: 1:45.

Let's begin with the ongoing military spat between South Korea and Japan.

The two sides' radar dispute is pouring fuel on the fire of their already long-held historical

and territorial feuds.

The issue is now taking a toll on their military exchanges.

The South Korean Navy says it will cancel its planned visit to Japan in February,...

which has been part of naval exchanges between the two neighbors.

Kim Hyo-sun reports.

South Korean Navy's First Fleet has canceled its planned visit to Japan next month.

The decision comes amid chills in bilateral ties over the continued military spat on whether

a South Korean destroyer locked its fire-control radar on a Japanese patrol plane in the East

Sea last month.

As part of the naval exchange program between the two neighbors,...

Seoul has sent a two-star Navy officer to Japan on odd-number years,... while Tokyo

has sent an equivalent officer to South Korea on even-number years.

Seoul's defense ministry also explained it has no plans to hold separate talks with Tokyo

on the sidelines of the annual security forum held in Singapore this week.

On a related note,... the Chairman of South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff Park Han-ki

has instructed all military units to establish a swift and accurate reporting system to respond

to the threats posed by the low-altitude flyovers of Japanese patrol planes.

There are concerns the protracted tensions could undermine efforts to maintain cooperation

in denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and establishing lasting peace in Northeast Asia.

Afc Asian Cup 2019 : Japan vs Iran | Iran vs Japan | semifinal |Football match | live| highlights - Duration: 1:44.

Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu has said that IR Iran's class has been proven in

the AFC Asian Cup 2019, but his players will do their best to get a win when the two teams

meet in the semifinal on Monday. The Samurai Blue are the most successful national team

in the Asian Cup history winning the title on four occasions while Iran haven't tasted

success after their third title win back in 1976.However, Team Melli are firm favourites

to lift the trophy this time around solely based on the performances they have produced

in the United Arab Emirates so far.

But Japan coach Moriyasu knows what it will take for his team to beat their West Asian

opponents."Iran are a top class team, both in Asia and in the FIFA rankings and that

has been shown at the Asian Cup," Moriyasu said at the news conference ahead of the game.

"We respect every opponent, but it's about how we express our own football and utmost

quality and that will be the same [on Monday]," he said."In order to win, we will play aggressively

and I want the players to do their utmost on the pitch," he said.Japan have so far

one all five of their matches in the Asian Cup by one-goal margin and Moriyasu have come

under some criticism for his safety-first approach.

But he is someone who knows football is not just about attacking."Football is a game

about scoring goals, but before that you have to win the ball and I want my players to show

their strong spirit around the ball and to win the ball.

After that, we want to play both offensively and defensively," he said."The players

know that we are playing with persistence and they are trying each time to express our

team concept.

I want them to do the same thing [against Iran], to play aggressively and hopefully

get the result," Moriyasu said.

World News - Japan will resume commercial whaling for the first time in 30 years - Duration: 3:47.

Japan will resume commercial whaling for the first time in three decades, just one day after it formally withdraws from the International Whaling Commission

The Fisheries Agency said whalers in six Pacific coast towns are expected to bring five vessels to form a fleet to hunt along the country's north-eastern coasts on July 1

Japan's decision to hunt whales for profit comes after it formally withdrew from the IWC last month after years of disagreement with pro-conservationist members

A ship owned by the fisheries association in Taiji - known for its annual dolphin hunts - will contribute one vessel to the fleet which will hunt minke whales near Hachinohe or Kushiro in northern Japan

Each vessel will then head south to Chiba, near Tokyo, while making several stops before heading back to Kushiro for more hunts later in the year, Japan's national broadcaster NHK said

Exact locations and hunting plans will be decided based on the results of research planned by the end of June, said Shigeki Takaya, a Fisheries Agency official

Share this article Share Japan's decision to resume whaling for profit was widely criticised, with Britain's environment minister Michael Gove saying he was 'extremely disappointed'

But while conservationists have condemned Japan's move, the scope of operation will be much smaller than the country's 'research hunts' in distant waters

These annual hunts took place in the Antarctic and north-west Pacific oceans after the IWC imposed a moratorium in the 1980s

Expeditions will now be limited to Japan's territorial waters and its 200-mile exclusive economic zone along the country's coasts

Fisheries officials plan to start with a modest plan to carefully gauge a market size, a former IWC negotiator, Hideki Moronuki, said

The withdrawal from the IWC may be a face-saving step to stop Japan's ambitious Antarctic hunts and scale down the scope of whaling to around the Japanese coasts

Japan, which is joining Iceland and Norway in openly defying the ban on commercial hunting, annually consumes 5,000 tons of whale meat from 'research hunts'

This is a fraction of the country's previous whale meat consumption of around 200,000 tons in the 1960s

But critics say they doubt commercial whaling could be a sustainable industry if Japanese young people do not see whales as food
