The University of Northhampton is a teaching focused, employability focused, university.

Active, blended learning, which is our signature pedagogy, revolves around student-centeredness.

It revolves around making the students, the content-creators, being the knowledge creators

as well as the knowledge sharers.

We wanted systems in place that would encourage all three types of interaction:

Learner-learner / Learner – Tutor / Learner – content

They were born in the 21st century, so as millennials they expect a different type of

experience.

so we're looking for technologies that allow us to serve up our teaching on demand and

be scalable and flexible.

The products we're using are Barco weConnect and Overture.

weConnect gives us the collaborative classroom experience and the screen-sharing experience

Overture underpins all of that as a kind of 3rd party control system that's highly customizable

It allows us to take away some of the load from our lecturers because they no longer

have to use control panels from inside of the room.

We can automate a lot of the turning on and off of our equipment and it gives us better

monitoring and it helps us deliver a full, complete solution.

You're saving on maintenance, you're saving on people and man hours.

You're more efficient in your teaching so you're actually getting more out of your

money.

And to our customers, it looks like one service.

You need to be very good in the pathway to create a learning journey and a learning experience

for the students and to create that and to maintain that, requires a different kind of

preparation and a much more mature relationship between student and teacher,

namely appreciating and valueing the student's contribution.

It is helping us becoming a good teacher and even becoming a better teacher.

If you used to struggle as a teacher, you now actually have a tool to develop a culture

of participation.

Once you go weConnect, you don't go back!

Study Architecture and Construction Management at Deakin University - Duration: 2:55.

I think my passion for construction came early, like I used to play a lot of Lego

as a kid and I realized that I like construction, I wasn't sure if it's

actually what I wanted to do.

I'm studying architecture and construction management

I think it was probably in year 11 and 12, I had a really large passion for Vis-Comm.

I was tossing up between industrial design, interior design or architecture.

I kind of felt that architecture incorporated all three.

I went with it and I haven't regretted it since.

Ultimately, if you become a construction manager, you oversee construction projects and you manage all

the different aspects of them. This course gives me the opportunity with the

skills that we're learning, so when I finish I'll be able to work on large

projects from start to finish and see the whole project take place, and sort of

get that sense of achievement as well at the end of the day.

It's easy to travel in, there's always parking available.

It's just a really nice vibe in Geelong I guess

Also the campus is just beautiful, it's right on the waterfront and for an

architectural student that inspiration is just perfect.

We have access to large studio spaces where we can work with other students and it's just great for inspiration.

We've got workshops, and we have laser cutting,

We've got architecture studio, an open access studio.

The open access studio is this big space, you can walk around and see all of these other

amazing works that students have done.

Deakin offers site visits to construction students. They organise them for us and they've been fantastic opportunities.

Walking through them you learn so much more because you can

visually see it it's there, it's real, it's not just on a screen which is

really good for understanding what goes on.

Being able to go out on-site for me is always just so inspiring.

Sometimes you get bogged down in the minutia of it all, and in the books and with all the assignments...

and going out on-site just reminds me of what I'm working towards. We're creating the world for tomorrow.

The benefits is studying a combined degree in architecture and construction management

I find when I'm doing architecture subjects, my construction side knows that there are standards involved that I have to obey.

Construction is one of the leading industries in our country so

architecture and construction management both can have such a huge impact.

You're building buildings that people are going to live in, people are gonna work in,

building hospitals where lives are going to be saved, whatever you know, you can look

back and say, I managed this project, I worked on that, and it's there forever.

You know, it just feels like a very fulfilling sort of career, and I'm excited for it.

I'm looking forward to it. So I'm keen the future, yeah.

Stetson University Business Ethics Georgetown Team Preview - Duration: 0:47.

When I'm not out here drinking a brewski at Persimmon Hollow

or nerding out on the financial markets

I'm strategizing for the Stetson University business ethics team

While my southern boy's gonna get some tacos, I'm bringing New York-style into this.

I'm talking legalese. I'm talking coffee and bagels.

At the end of the day it's all about the ethics.

When I'm not managing a four million dollar portfolio or driving this football through the uprights,

I'm helping the ethics team out with their financials .

I've been grinding all year for Stetson Football. Time to grind it out in D.C., baby.

Let's get it.

A thank you to University of Utah faculty & staff - Duration: 1:00.

- As we start 2019, I want to say a very special thank you

to you our faculty and staff for giving back

to the university.

I think it says something very special

about our institution,

that you give back at such a significant level.

Last year over 3000 faculty and staff contributed upwards

of $3.75 million to the university in support

of vital programs and initiatives.

Among the top causes you gave to were,

The U Student Food Pantry, The Staff Scholarship Fund,

The Huntsman Cancer Institute,

The Dreamer Support Fund, and also the very best

public radio station in the Valley, KUER 90.1.

While 2018 was a great year,

I'm confident that working as One U

2019 will be even better.

Thank you for all you do to make The University of Utah

an exceptional university.

Happy New Year to all of you.

Pan African eNetwork and Amity University Online | Virtually Inspired - Duration: 4:17.

When it comes to education access, it can be feast or famine for many.

Countries like those of the African Union (AU), realize the magnitude of providing access

and make it a primary focus.

The AU's Agenda 2063 puts emphasis on "Bridging continental and global education frameworks

for the Africa We Want."

It is through the AU's internal focus combined with external partnerships that this goal

is being achieved.

Let's look at a massive on-going project that taps the resources and strengths of partnering

countries to provide top-notch education access for many Africans.

The Indian government has offered a unique way to address barriers and impact the social

development of Africa by creating a fiber-optic and satellite network that provides connectivity

between select African and Indian universities and hospitals.

With a goal to provide education and medical science benefits, the Pan African e-Network

Project, is in high demand, recently receiving funding for the next phase.

The African Union, which is made up of 54-member states, is connected to India and each other

through web-based portals, one for tele-education and another for telemedicine.

This digital bridge is funded by the Government of India and enables free tele-education courses

to thousands of AU students every year.

Access is delivered through a myriad of online digital technologies such as video conferencing,

video streaming, blended learning, and interactive content.

In places where there is no Internet connectivity, students have the option of a computer or

tablet preloaded with audio-visual study material and digital content.

Amity University, a private, top-tier institution, is a major contributor amongst five Indian

universities in the project.

With 25 years of operation serving over 200,000 students in 135 countries, Amity University

Online, is India's leading online global education platform.

Through this entity, Post Graduate, Graduate and Diploma Programs in the areas of Management,

Commerce, Arts, Law and Information Technology with 13 different specializations for the

MBA program have been made available.

To date, over 60 online programs have been digitally delivered with quality education.

More than 40,000 students from across 40 countries of the African Union have been served.

With an MBA program that is ranked #1 in Asia and #39 worldwide according to the QS 2018

Rankings, Amity greatly extends top-notch education opportunities for African citizens.

With an estimated 364 million Africans between the ages of 15 and 35, and the continent's

population expected to double in the next 25 years, the significance of partnerships,

and government funding and support is priceless.

From Burkina Faso and Cameroon to Ghana and Zimbabwe, the Pan African eNetwork Project

and Amity University are significantly helping the AU reach their goal of providing education

access.

This is another fine example of the value of online and digital learning.

Brown University is criticized for using live pigs in medical training - Daily News - Duration: 4:08.

Brown University is under fire for using live pigs in emergency medical training. A prominent physicians' group has now asked federal regulators to investigate Brown's medical school, arguing it is violating the law by using the live pigs

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine on Tuesday asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service to investigate animal use at the Warren Alpert Medical School at the Ivy League university

A medical school spokeswoman said she didn't know about the complaint and didn't immediately respond to questions about the use of pigs

The school's website says its residency education includes hands-on animal labs. The committee advocates for eliminating the use of live animals in any medical training and promotes the use of human-body simulators instead

Proponents of animal research argue it is crucial to scientific breakthroughs and for furthering medical science More than 90 percent of emergency medicine residency programs in the United States and Canada use only human-based training methods, such as medical simulation or cadavers, according to the committee

The nonprofit represents more than 12,000 doctors.Brown, in Providence, violated the federal Animal Welfare Act because alternatives to animal use exist, so using pigs for emergency medicine training is not justified or unavoidable, said Dr

John Pippin, director of academic affairs for the Physicians Committee. He also contends the school's animal care and use committee does not properly oversee the use of pigs for the training, which would also violate the act

'The purpose of all of these training programs, including at Brown, is to produce the best possible physicians in the field of emergency medicine

Everyone agrees on that,' said Pippin, a cardiologist in Dallas. 'What I'm claiming, and I think I can prove, is the best way to do this does not include the use of animals

' Simulators allow repetition, so if residents err when putting a chest tube in, for instance, they can do it again, Pippin said

The models also do a better job at representing human anatomy, he said. A pig's skin is thicker and the trachea far deeper than on a person, so a resident could not cut a hole for a blocked airway on a person in the same way they would on a pig, for example, Pippin said

There are 16 programs the committee knows of that still use live animals, and most of them use pigs

Pippin said he has reached out to all 16. Share this article Share When Pippin first contacted Brown's medical school in the fall, he said, he was told by the residency director she wouldn't have time to consider the matter for six months

He contacted her boss and the dean of medicine, he said, but got nowhere and drafted the letter

Pippin said the committee is not looking for the university to be penalized in any way, rather they're hoping to motivate Brown to pay attention to the information the committee provided

Ashford University - Duration: 4:34.

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Instructional Design and Technology.

This course takes the analysis and planning you have conducted thus far and begins to

put it into action.

My name is Dr. Elizabeth Forgione-Barkas, but you can call me Dr. E. I am excited

to be your professor and facilitator during this step of the process.

As I already mentioned, this course takes the font-end analysis and the design plan

you have completed in previous courses and develops it into a design document and storyboard.

Throughout the course you will complete a design document, flowchart, and storyboards.

The design document allows additional factors to be considered while building your course

design and the flow chart and storyboards create the visual representation.

As in previous courses, a template is provided, and should be utilized, for the Design Document.

In addition, a presentation is available to assist with getting started.

Both can be found within the Week 1 Assignment.

As you read the Instructor Guidance and readings for the week, I think what will become apparent

is that you will be revisiting your front-end analysis and design plans and summarizing

or detailing key aspects for the design plan.

It is time to put this all together!

In each course, I like to point out that the Ashford Cafe and Ask Your Instructor links

are available easily on the Home page.

My intent is to post additional resources within the Ashford Cafe throughout the course

and for this to be a growing body of resources.

Please check it out periodically throughout the course.

You can also share resources that classmates or myself might enjoy.

We can discuss these resources as time allows throughout the course.

The Ask Your Instructor Tab is a great place

to ask questions about activities and assignments so that everyone may benefit.

Please note the forum is public so if you have specific questions of a personal nature,

email should be used instead.

If you do find a need to email me, you should use the email tool within the course

or copy and paste my email from my profile.

You should expect a response to your email within 48 hours, although I am often able

to respond in a timelier manner.

Each week I will provide an introduction for the week, there will be required and recommended

readings, and we will complete one Discussion and one Assignment.

The exception for this is in Week 6 when we have two discussions to complete.

When you feel you have adequately reviewed

the course material please take some time to review the additional announcements as

they contain details regarding additional course expectations.

Before I bring this to a close, I do want

to share with you how very excited I am to be the facilitator of this course and to be

a part of your educational journey.

I see my job as a facilitator of learning.

I am passionate about helping you reach your goals; so you can expect that I will provide

you thorough and meaningful feedback on all assignments, respond to emails and Ask Your

Instructor Questions within 24 to 48 hours, and that I will be available for discussion

should you wish to brainstorm ideas.

For some specifics about me, take a few moments to review my Profile as this contains information

about my background, how to contact me, and some fun facts about my hobbies.

I sincerely look forward to the upcoming six

weeks and assisting you in your educational journey in any and every way I possibly can.

If you have any questions or concerns, please

do not hesitate to contact me.

I will let you get started as I am sure you have all been eager to get to this course.
