The University of Northhampton is a teaching focused, employability focused, university.

Active, blended learning, which is our signature pedagogy, revolves around student-centeredness.

The products we're using are Barco weConnect and Overture.

weConnect gives us the collaborative classroom experience and the screen-sharing experience

Overture underpins all of that as a kind of 3rd party control system that's highly customizable

It allows us to take away some of the load from our lecturers because they no longer

have to use control panels from inside of the room.

We can automate a lot of the turning on and off of our equipment and it gives us better

monitoring and it helps us deliver a full, complete solution.

You're saving on maintenance, you're saving on people and man hours.

You're more efficient in your teaching so you're actually getting more out of your

money.

And to our customers, it looks like one service.

You need to be very good in the pathway to create a learning journey and a learning experience

for the students and to create that and to maintain that, requires a different kind of

preparation and a much more mature relationship between student and teacher,

namely appreciating and valueing the student's contribution.

It is helping us becoming a good teacher and even becoming a better teacher.

Making The Most From University open Days! Student Support Sundays w/ Whatuni - Duration: 4:38.

Hello! Welcome to ... Welcome to a special edition of student support Sunday's on a

Wednesday Why a Wednesday?! Well, 'WhatUni'

who sent me this. Lovely cup, nothing in it

tweeted this about if you are going to University this year, to check out one of

the open days. they can help you find one, plan it, make sure you ask all the right

questions but myself and Whatuni also talked about making sure you make

the most of open days when you go. So, this videos all about giving you five of

the best tips of making the most of your open days and the first one is GO!

Please Go It baffles me why so many students don't

go I mean you're probably planning to go but sometimes it's a case of "I don't

know if I want to go to that university yet" (or) "I don't know if I want to go to

university at all!" This is why you go! This is why you go, the university

open day is designed for you to go have a look; is this University for you? Is the

course for you? Is University at all for you? This is why you go! it gets you from

the laptop, from the perspective (or whether it's called) in the

flesh! This is why you go, I mean it is free and gives you chance to sink your teeth into the world of higher education

The second one seems obvious but ask questions! Get involved!

When I went on some open days or even when I was helping the

university as a as a volunteer, there were a lot of students who come in to have

a look at the university but just sat in the back (you know) just sitting there, just smiling and

nodding and just being quite passive, just going with it. (But) if you want to

make the most of an open day, get involved! Put your hand up and ask a

question, have a walk around, try and speak to students or tutors whenever you

can to get involved. Now, I'll be honest, some of the students who were at the back

not doing anything, did tend to have a parent either side to them; asking

the questions for them - I'm gonna get into that shortly but I'm also going to

do a video separately about three questions that students are just not asking and

they really need to ask! The video will be here somewhere, might be there

wherever I put it. I've not done it yet and now we're gonna go into number three!

Which, as I foreshadowed; Ditch The Parents! Picking a university is one of

the biggest choices of your life, it really is. It's also one of the first

real independent decisions you're gonna make as well and I think

it's great to start as you mean to go on and that's by making this decision

yourself. Now, to be fair there's nothing actually wrong with taking your parents

with you. Any parent just wants the best for their child but I've seen it before

as I said before, a (student) at the back just sitting here, the parents are there

asking questions you know, just really interrupting, even challenging them

asking "why should my daughter go to this university" "are you going to get her

a job at the end?" "9,000 pounds that's a lot of money, Cheryl!" it's a fair

point to be fair, it's a good question but it's for you to make that decision :)

you're bout to take a big step into adult life and I just think it's best

that you make this one by yourself but I'll leave to you to decide.

The forth one is all about the facilities. Now, universities are not all lecture halls and

classrooms. Every University has a lot to offer, many of them compete in what they

have to offer! Take the time to check out the university accommodation, especially

if that's quite a sticking point for you. Check out the gym, the sports area,

specificity the sports facilities. Check out the media area, a lot of

people don't check that out. Just because you're not doing media studies or film

studies doesn't mean you can't make use of what they have to offer. The University

probably has a Film Society which means you can still go in and use the cool

computers, the cool cameras, a lot of universities have kitted out with the

latest Apple design software. There really is a lot out there for you to

sink your teeth in and have a look so take that time look around University

and just think "oh I never knew this was here" and number five would actually be

outside the University. Which seems kind of counterproductive to this video but

if you are wanting to moving away from University, if you're like me if you're going from

Liverpool to Leeds, Leeds is a very exciting City and if you was to an

open day at one of the universities there, I would also encourage you to get

around the city center see what else is out there! Whether it's just the nightlife

or if you're boring like me ad want to see some of the museums but see what

else they have to offer. it's well worth doing and there's my five simple tips

for making the most out of your open day and I can't stress the first one the most

make sure you go! You can never come out of an open date any worse for the

Study Architecture and Construction Management at Deakin University - Duration: 2:55.

I think my passion for construction came early, like I used to play a lot of Lego

as a kid and I realized that I like construction, I wasn't sure if it's

actually what I wanted to do.

I'm studying architecture and construction management

I think it was probably in year 11 and 12, I had a really large passion for Vis-Comm.

I was tossing up between industrial design, interior design or architecture.

I kind of felt that architecture incorporated all three.

I went with it and I haven't regretted it since.

Ultimately, if you become a construction manager, you oversee construction projects and you manage all

the different aspects of them. This course gives me the opportunity with the

skills that we're learning, so when I finish I'll be able to work on large

projects from start to finish and see the whole project take place, and sort of

get that sense of achievement as well at the end of the day.

It's easy to travel in, there's always parking available.

It's just a really nice vibe in Geelong I guess

Also the campus is just beautiful, it's right on the waterfront and for an

architectural student that inspiration is just perfect.

We have access to large studio spaces where we can work with other students and it's just great for inspiration.

We've got workshops, and we have laser cutting,

We've got architecture studio, an open access studio.

The open access studio is this big space, you can walk around and see all of these other

amazing works that students have done.

Deakin offers site visits to construction students. They organise them for us and they've been fantastic opportunities.

Walking through them you learn so much more because you can

visually see it it's there, it's real, it's not just on a screen which is

really good for understanding what goes on.

Being able to go out on-site for me is always just so inspiring.

Sometimes you get bogged down in the minutia of it all, and in the books and with all the assignments...

and going out on-site just reminds me of what I'm working towards. We're creating the world for tomorrow.

The benefits is studying a combined degree in architecture and construction management

I find when I'm doing architecture subjects, my construction side knows that there are standards involved that I have to obey.

Construction is one of the leading industries in our country so

architecture and construction management both can have such a huge impact.

You're building buildings that people are going to live in, people are gonna work in,

building hospitals where lives are going to be saved, whatever you know, you can look

back and say, I managed this project, I worked on that, and it's there forever.

You know, it just feels like a very fulfilling sort of career, and I'm excited for it.

I'm looking forward to it. So I'm keen the future, yeah.

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Instructional Design and Technology.

This course takes the analysis and planning you have conducted thus far and begins to

put it into action.

My name is Dr. Elizabeth Forgione-Barkas, but you can call me Dr. E. I am excited

to be your professor and facilitator during this step of the process.

As I already mentioned, this course takes the font-end analysis and the design plan

you have completed in previous courses and develops it into a design document and storyboard.

Throughout the course you will complete a design document, flowchart, and storyboards.

The design document allows additional factors to be considered while building your course

design and the flow chart and storyboards create the visual representation.

As in previous courses, a template is provided, and should be utilized, for the Design Document.

In addition, a presentation is available to assist with getting started.

Both can be found within the Week 1 Assignment.

As you read the Instructor Guidance and readings for the week, I think what will become apparent

is that you will be revisiting your front-end analysis and design plans and summarizing

or detailing key aspects for the design plan.

It is time to put this all together!

In each course, I like to point out that the Ashford Cafe and Ask Your Instructor links

are available easily on the Home page.

My intent is to post additional resources within the Ashford Cafe throughout the course

and for this to be a growing body of resources.

Please check it out periodically throughout the course.

You can also share resources that classmates or myself might enjoy.

We can discuss these resources as time allows throughout the course.

The Ask Your Instructor Tab is a great place

to ask questions about activities and assignments so that everyone may benefit.

Please note the forum is public so if you have specific questions of a personal nature,

email should be used instead.

If you do find a need to email me, you should use the email tool within the course

or copy and paste my email from my profile.

You should expect a response to your email within 48 hours, although I am often able

to respond in a timelier manner.

Each week I will provide an introduction for the week, there will be required and recommended

readings, and we will complete one Discussion and one Assignment.

The exception for this is in Week 6 when we have two discussions to complete.

When you feel you have adequately reviewed

the course material please take some time to review the additional announcements as

they contain details regarding additional course expectations.

Before I bring this to a close, I do want

to share with you how very excited I am to be the facilitator of this course and to be

a part of your educational journey.

I see my job as a facilitator of learning.

I am passionate about helping you reach your goals; so you can expect that I will provide

you thorough and meaningful feedback on all assignments, respond to emails and Ask Your

Instructor Questions within 24 to 48 hours, and that I will be available for discussion

should you wish to brainstorm ideas.
