He is highly respected for his contribution

to Maori performing arts; he's also a successful businessman.

Today, the achievements of Wetini Mitai-Ngatai

were acknowledged at Government House

with an Order of New Zealand honour.

Te Okiwa McLean reports.

A son of Tanerore acknowledged for services to Maori performing arts.

That's the advantage growing up in Rotorua has given me.

I was exposed to concerts as a way to make money,

and there are a lot of whanau here in Rotorua

where this is a way of life, and they make a living from it.

Mr Wetini Swainson Mitai-Ngatai, of Rotorua

has been recognised for services to Maori performing arts.

He pays homage to those who nurtured him in this field of work.

My first teacher was Kima Hakaraia.

My koroua was another, Tenga Rangitauira.

I was nurtured in this area by my uncle Irirangi Tiakiawa.

They came up with the idea to establish Te Matarae,

so that their teachings would live on amongst us,

so it's right to say it was about saving haka.

He's mostly known for taking two national titles

with his kapa haka group Te Matarae and running his Maori tourism

business, Mitai Maori Village.

He is currently pleased with the standard of haka

these days,

but says there is still room for improvement.

There is old school, then there's new school,

and they need to be respected on their own and kept separate,

so the next generation are clear as to what is what.

He encourages all Maori to do the same

and use culture as a means to live.

My mother told me that I needed to head off overseas

and that it would be through kapa haka that I would get to travel,

to learn, and observe what's happening overseas

and to take inspiration from there and bring that back home

for the whanau and iwi, to help them improve, and breathe life into this.

Developing and growing the Mitai business is his priority.

Young Explorers Chapter 3: Support Services and Blended Classrooms - Duration: 3:16.

Our blended model has three different categories

We have students who are typically developing, we have at-risk students,

and then special education students who need more individuals education plans.

For the typically developing child, this program is great

because it gives them a lot of leadership opportunities,

they learn a lot of empathy for their peers,

and overall they grow.

As a social worker, I am teaching them foundational skills.

for them to understand their own bodies, their own emotions,

how to develop friendships, I feel at this age it's super important to learn those skills.

and that's gratifying because three months can make a big difference.

what makes it different than any other program is having us specialists as part of the team.

A psychologist that is here four days a week.

We have a full-time speech pathologist,

a full-time social worker,

a part-time occupational therapist.

and we also have a physical therapist that supports our program too.

Cooking and Conversation is a whole-class activity.

It's designed to target the needs and development of our typical kids,

our kids who are at risk and our kids who have been identified as having special education needs.

We work on listening comprehension, following directions, learning new vocabulary and using it.

verbal formulation and organization, and socially engaging with their peers.

My daughter, she was in Young Explorers for 21/2 years

and she started because she had an IEP for speech.

The difference between when she started when she turned 3 and

and when she left was amazing! I couldn't even count the number of words she could pronounce!

UPMC SHARE Bender Consulting Services - Duration: 2:12.

Bender Consulting Services is a for-profit company that focuses on the

competitive employment of people with disabilities in fields like IT, finance,

engineering. Joyce Bender, CEO of Bender Consulting Services and a woman living

with epilepsy, in addition we have a group that does Digital Accessibility

work called High-Test and we have a new software product by

iDisability that is an eTraining product. SHARE is a wonderful organization I

always tell people they think about SHARE and they think about charity, but

it isn't when you're involved with SHARE you are meeting other people you're

meeting other suppliers and your meeting with supplier diversity executives that

care about including a diverse force. When you attend SHARE, you're sharing in

talent. When I went to SHARE what really benefited me was also meeting other

diverse suppliers, because what that showed me is best practices, other ways

of doing business, it also is a great networking opportunity so that what I've

learned I can share with someone else. Without question great companies like

Highmark, and PNC have invested their time in working with supplier diverse groups and

to me, that is what makes all the difference.

Governor Cox, when he was governor many many many years ago

he ended up found in Cox Communications, he had something; he would always say he

would say "Ask yourself this one question. Is it right?".

When it comes to SHARE, joining SHARE attending their conference being part of

it asked yourself this question, is it right to include other groups and of

course the answer is yes.

AAM's 3D Modelling Services - Duration: 2:44.

Imagine seeing any project in your mind's eye in dynamic, fully detailed 3D

visualizations. Then imagine sharing them with all involved in your project's

construction, in its finished functioning form. As one of Australia's most

innovative providers of survey and geospatial data capture and modelling, AAM

offers its clients maximum flexibility in selecting optimal BIM solutions for

their particular projects. From precise 3D point cloud representations of

existing conditions, we produce fully contoured models of your greenfield

project's underlying and surrounding terrain. For urban and city environs we

do the same so you see accurately scaled models of

your project surroundings. As well as any obvious design issues this may reveal, we

can also analyze other important effects such as shadowing, reflection, sight lines

and relative heights - which may raise aesthetic and functional issues for your

project, while also highlighting its own effects on its adjacent built and

natural surroundings. With these impacts fully illustrated in three dimensions

the progress of design adjustments, community consultation and relevant

authority approvals is dramatically streamlined. And in modelling your project

itself, whether a redesigned or entirely new structure, we have the tools and

techniques to take it from your architect's CAD platform and visualize it

externally and internally in the complete variety of form and detail you

need to see during every stage of its design, construction and operation.

Above and below the ground of your project, nature will have its way, so

you'll also need to know just what it may have to endure. And while written

projections can tell you about the potential range of those events, only

AAM's dynamic 3D modelling has the graphic intensity that generates an immediate

call to informed, effective and decisive preparation. So from conception to

completion and functional evolution throughout its life, AAM's 3d modelling

optimizers and integrates every phase of your project into the most efficient,

dependable and stress-free process you can experience.
