Oh right!
Captain, could you please introduce yourself?
'You can simply say 'Hi' as well lol
Be ready to be shocked!
She bleached her hair by herself at home and ended up burning her hair..:(
If you do that to your customers, that won't be good, right?!
Of course lol
But she colored her hair on top of those burnt hair 0_0
Can she restore her hair?
Unfortunately, no :(
Look how her hair just breaks off so easily
I feel so bad for her T.T
Captain has nothing to say but laugh lol
It's like an elastic band
It's like she is pulling off a gum
You don't have to pull those hair off with force like that
because it will eventually fall off by itself within a week
What are those blisters?
I think he burnt his scalp, causing an inflammation
OMG..!!
Do you recommend bleaching your own hair at home similar to how they did?
Nope
Because when you get your hair bleached by professionals, they make sure the bleach chemicals don't touch your scalp
They make sure the hair bleach are applied on your hair as safe and less damaging as possible
and then evaluate how it's turning out to determine to continue to bleach more or not
However, when you are bleaching your own hair
you may be able to apply the bleach around the front section of your head without touching your scalp
However, it's very difficult to apply the bleach in a way so that it does not touch the scalp at the back of your head
Also, we just saw how that guy had blisters all around his scalp, right?!
That's the result when the bleach touches your scalp
He said he let the bleach sit for 40 minutes
That's not good
At a salon, if you bleached your hair 2 to 3 times, the bleach around your scalp should be left for maximum 10~15 minutes only
We do not let it sit for more than that
For me, I bleached my hair by myself when I was very young
and now I don't have hair around my forehead hairline
The hair color trend for this year is 'ash' and 'sepia ash' color
This 'ash' color has a slight violet shade into it
To get this stage of color, you'll have to bleach your hair for about 2 times
The right side color has been dyed into ash color without bleaching
This lady's hair color is ash color without bleaching
Many people go for this color these days
Also, ash brown color is very popular as well
If you bleach your hair, the grey color will be more prominent
What color does customers usually ask you to do?
Many ask for ash color scheme
8 out of 10 people ask for ash color
and 2 out of 10 ask for red color
Red color?
Yup
What was the most craziest (?) color you've ever dyed to your customer?
I've dyed customer's hair into 5~6 different colors
Like a rainbow? / Yup
Usually people with freelance job or unemployed customers ask for those type of hairstyle
Why though?
I'm not sure about in America, but in Korea it's hard to get a job with rainbow hair color, even in a fashion industry
Even fashion models can't easily go for that hair color
But I see Irene doing many colorful hair
She is a special case because her colorful hair has become her signature look
She now changes her hair color very frequently as well
Yeah, many people now know her for her hair color
Another rising hair color trend in Korea these days is blond, just like yours
For real?! / Yup
Even actress Han Ye-seul recently dyed her hair into a blond
So many people are following that color as well
What are these days haircut trend?
Bob hairstyle is on trend
This type of hairstyle is also on trend
It looks very feminine
This hairstyle is more trendy in Korea
This type of layered hairstyle can make your face look smaller so many people call this type of hairstyle, a 'Face extinct' hairstyle lol
Oh, cause it makes your face look so small
The layering starts from the jawline, so it really makes your face looks smaller
The layers help to hide your jawline
Bob hairstyle is geared towards a very slight c-curl
Customers from Europe prefers this type of bob hairstyle
But unlike this photo, they prefer the hair to be slightly longer towards the front
You have many foreign customers as well
Yup yup
Are the hairstyles that foreign customers ask differ greatly from Korean customers?
It's very different
Many Korean customers prefers feminine type of hairstyle
Oh, like innocent hairstyle? / Yup
It's the type of hairstyle where you will wear floral one-piece dress with lol
On the other hand, many European customers ask for natural hairstyle
Isn't see-through bang haircut is also a trend?
I think that has been in trend for very long time
Yes, you're right Qwon
But these days, the bangs are less see-through
These days bang haircut shows less forehead and the bangs are slightly more heavy
So the trend is becoming less see-through nowadays
This lady also have a see-through bang
But you can use a hairdryer and throw your bangs towards back, just like how she did
I'm not sure in America, but in Korea such 'hippie perm' hairstyle is popular as well
Is this hairstyle still on trend? / Yup, it's still going strong
It became more popular because of Sulli
For those who have round face should have a volume centered around the top of their head when they do hippie perm
On the other hand, those with long face should have a volume around the side of their face
Therefore, foreign customers prefer volume around the side of their face
Without those volume, their face will look more longer
But when I accidentally put more volume on top of their head, their face expression suddenly changes.. lol
They want to tell me, but they hesitate (too kind)
Just like this kind of face
They say it's pretty, but their expression doesn't say the same thing.. lol
At first, it was hard to catch and understand their expression
But now, through their expression I can read everything! lol
Now I know what they like and want just by their expression
One thing you should avoid is never have our face and hair color tone be the same
Or else, there's no distinction between your hair and face, which can end up making your face look larger
Therefore, for people with yellow skin tone should avoid yellow color scheme
Also, for those with reddish skin should avoid red color scheme (It's pretty much self explanatory)
For those with pale skin, avoid blue color scheme
For those with pale or bright skin goes well with red or purple color scheme
For those with yellow skin tone should avoid yellow color but go with blue or ash color scheme
For those with dark skin, you have to choose the color depending on whether you are going with your skin tone that has been brighten up using a makeup or simply go with you natural skin color
However, if you are mostly in your bare face, I wouldn't recommend such colorful colors but go for more natural color
Or, you can go for a blond color as well
because the blond color can help to brighten up the skin complexion
For me, when you dyed my hair into ginger blond color, my skin complexion looked so much brighter!
I would recommend to have your friends or family help you when bleaching your own hair (a.k.a don't do it alone)
Because, although it may be easy to bleach the front portion of your hair by yourself without touching your scalp
the top and back portion of the hair is very difficult to bleach by yourself without possibly burning your scalp, just like the video that we watched previously
If you burn your scalp severely, you might end up in a hospital
When you purchase hair bleach, it comes with a powder and a developer
and developer comes in a different level of percentage
The higher the percentage, the stronger the bleach is going to be
If you want to bleach your hair safely, I would recommend 3% developer
Starting with a lower percentage is safer because if your hair hasn't bleached thoroughly, you can always bleach it again
However, let's say you used 9% developer and let it sit for 40 minutes...
Then, just like the video we watched, your hair will start breaking and come off in chunks
How long should you let the bleach sit in?
20~30 minutes will be fine
How many times should you bleach?
People have either red melanin or yellow melanin in their hair
Usually, asians have red melanin hair and their natural hair color is around 4~5 level
When they bleach their hair once, they will end up with level 15~16 hair color
If they want to dye their hair into grey or blue color, they will have to bleach several times more from this level
If they dye their hair into blue at this level, because they still have 'red' melanin, they will end up with green color instead
That's why they need to bleach their hair several more times
On the other hand, Westerners usually have yellow melanin and their natural hair color is around 15~16 level
Therefore, they don't need to bleach too many times to get the blue hair
I heard that when you bleach your hair, don't start bleaching from the top of your hair but start from the bottom of your hair and work your way up
Can you explain why?
It's to minimize any damage to your scalp
Because bleach is essentially made out of chemical substances, it reacts to heat, such as the heat on your scalp
So if you start applying from the top of your head the bleach reacts more faster then the bottom portion of your hair, which not only causes more damage to your scalp but you end up with a hair that is more lighter around the top portion of your head
So do you also recommend to apply starting from the bottom and work your way up? / YES!
I believe hair manicure lasts longer
That's true
But during your first week, the color comes out extremely a lot (especially while washing your hair)
The difference between hairdye and hair manicure is...
When you dye your hair, essentially the dye seeping into your hair and that's how you get to see the color your want
However, hair manicure is very similar to nail art
You are just applying the dye on the surface of your hair
Then how can hair manicure lasts longer than a hairdye?
Hair manicure is more like a coating
So coating lasts longer than actually seeping in? / Yes
Pretend we are looking at a hair fading its color that has been treated with a manicure using a microscope
The color is actually not 'fading' but actually 'falling off' from the hair
Then I'm guessing manicure is less damaging to your hair?
Although it may be safer than the hair dye at first, if you repeat it several time, it can be more damaging than the hair dye
That's because when the manicure falls off from your hair, your hair cuticle also falls off together
ohh......
It's very similar to nail polish. If you repeat removing and applying nail polish several times at once, your nails start to look very dry and chipped
If you don't dye your hair too often, I would recommend going with a hair manicure
However, if you dye your hair frequently, I would recommend going with a hair dye
I think the best way is to not to bleach around your scalp at all
Just think as if the first day you bleached your hair will be the hair that you'll have 2~3 weeks after your first bleach
I had a customer who had a very dark skin tone
And she/he wanted to go for a very bright neon blue hair color
Wow
So I asked him/her "Why do you want to go for that color? Because I think natural hair color will suit you much better"
Then I found out that the customer was planning to go to a Big Bang concert
Let me guess! She wanted the Big Bang members to notice her from the color of her bright hair?!
EXACTLY LOL
She/he wanted to show that hair color to TOP
At that time, TOP also had a blue neon hair color
Although that color did not suit the customer's skin tone, I think she will be safe when walking around the street at night lol
Because her hair is so bright, anyone will be able to see her at night haha
If the damage is too severe, there's no way but having to invest on good hair care treatment products
However, if the damage is not extremely severe, I think the 'method' of how you use certain product is very important
Many people apply the treatment and wash it off immediately
However, it takes at least 5~10 minutes for the treatment to seep into the hair
Thus, investing just 5~10 minutes of your time and then washing it off would make a huge difference on your hair
Are there certain hair colors that you feel like it's your best work?
Oh, you mean my name?!
The thing is, I don't really look like Korean
I actually studied about hair in Japan
And at first many of my Japanese friends asked me if I'm mixed-blood
Many of them thought I was half Hispanic
My real name is actually Kyung-Yong
Kyung-Young? / Yup
When I started my profession as a hairstylist in Korea, I wanted a name that can stand out rather than going with "Kyung-Yong"
So, since I look like half Hispanic, I went with the name 'Jose'
Then people started teasing me saying that I'm a Tequila LOL
So to make my name sound more softer I added 'O' in the middle of Jose and it's now pronounced 'Housae"
I don't personally drink a lot but I really enjoy Tequila and tacos
I also really like Mexico, which led me to visiting Cancun Island long time ago
But the main reason why I went to Cancun Island was because of unlimited free Tequila LOL
After diving your hair into three section, if you curl the bottom layer it becomes too short
Therefore, we will only curl the bottom outward
Just like this!
This way, the bottom layer does not become too short compared to the rest of the top layer
This way we can create much natural wavy hair
We'll start putting wave on the top layers, just like this
Can we do this by ourselves as well? / Yup
If you've used curling irons several times, this will be easy peasy
If you want a more natural wave, give outward-curl for the bottom layer, just like what we did previously, and curl the top layers only one time around the curling wand
But for Qwon's hair, I just curled the top layer two times on the wand instead of once
This wave is slightly more curly than natural wave
This is a very easily hairstyle that you can do it at home within 10 minutes
I really like the distinction in the hair color
That's so true! It almost look like I did like this on purpose
It's similar to my hair where the inner part is black but the braids are in brown color
