A cedar forest in Mt.Kabura, Gifu.

There are also rare cedar clusters in Japan country.

There are many trees of cedar tree in Gifu. As for Hida, there are many cedar which adapted to the environment from a lot of snow to a special shape.

In this mountain, a new cedar grows rooted in the stock of the cedar of the old tree of about 500 years old and decayed. It is called "Kabusugi".

here are also cedar trees that grow ten to one stock. I am impressed by the appearance that the number of 70 close is clustered.

There are also "Monet's Ponds" and "hydrangea garden" nearby, and you can also go sightseeing by car.

Tokyo Summer Escape: Karuizawa Day Trip | japan-guide.com - Duration: 5:09.

With temperatures reaching over 35 degrees Celsius in summer, Tokyo is notorious for

being hot.

One popular destination to escape the heat is a town nestled in the mountains, about

an hour northwest of Tokyo, called Karuizawa.

Karuizawa offers a number of tourist attractions and makes for an excellent day or weekend trip.

And is where we'll be going today.

My name is Raina Ong, staff writer for japan-guide.com and today I'm on a day trip trip in Karuizawa.

Here's the plan.

We arrive in Karuizawa on the Hokuriku Shinkansen and take the bus straight to Shiraito no Taki.

After that, we take the bus back down into Kyu-Karuizawa where we will walk along the

Ginza shopping street and have lunch in the vicinity.

Finally, we take the red retro bus from the shopping street to the Usui Pass Observation

Platform to take in the views from 1200 meters above sea level and where we will end our day.

So follow along as I go on a day trip to Karuizawa, Tokyo's summer escape in the mountains.

So, the green season right now is one of my favorite times to come here.

To breathe in the negative ions and to reset my senses.

This is the Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza Shopping Street, one of the main attractions in Karuizawa.

Here you can find souvenirs, local products and pretty much anything you want.

This is mocha soft serve, one of the specialties along the shopping street.

For exciting times, make it mocha soft serve time.

I'm going to taste some honey thats made in Karuizawa.

Let's go with apple honey.

It tastes like apple, and honey!

You can find a wide variety of foods in Karuizawa, but today, I'm in the mood for something cheesy.

I got the cheese calzone for lunch.

I can't wait!

I could eat like ten of these.

We had a good lunch and now we're going to climb a mountain.

We're now going to the Usui Pass Observation Platform, and there are two ways we can get there.

One is via the hiking trail at the end of the street and the other, the simpler method,

is to take the bus.

We are now at the Usui Pass Observation Platform, which stands at about 1200 meters above sea level,

and allows you to be in two prefectures at the same time.

And that concludes our day trip to Karuizawa.

Thanks for joining me.

I hope this video has been enjoyable and perhaps even inspires some ideas, should you decide

to plan a trip to Karuizawa.

DO JAPANESE want the new SAYONARA TAX in Japan? - Duration: 9:04.

Maybe politics can't be helped about that but...

I feel sorry for them.

They also use our taxes too carelessly, so ¥1000 is not gonna make a change.

Ask the people to leave Tokyo? - Yes.

Hey guys this is Ask Japanese. Today we are on the streets of Tokyo

to ask questions to Japanese people for you.

Actually 2019 a new Tax is gonna come to Japan.

That means every time you leave Japan you have to pay ¥1000.

It's called the Sayonara Tax in slang.

We are gonna find out and ask Japanese people what they think about that.

Is that a good idea or not?

Let's find out and Ask Japanese.

If you are new to our channel, don't forget to subscribe now for future videos. Let's go.

In 2019, once you leave Japan...

You have to pay about ¥1000, did you hear about that.

The departure tax? I heard about that.

What do you think about it.

Some people get tax free or they have money anyways.

If that makes more tax revenue, then I think it's good.

Politically this might not be helped but...

I feel sorry for those who have to pay it.

What do you think about those ¥1000?

Isn't that a bit too much?

If that becomes a problem for leaving Japan, it's not good.

I want that money to really come back to us straight away.

Just rotate that money straight back.

"Give me back the money when I get back to Japan" - Yes like that,

Japan will try to get money out of everything.

That's really a problem with our country.

Once they start that tax, what shall the money be used for ?

The money they took from people at the airport?

They also use our taxes too carelessly, so ¥1000 is not gonna make a change.

I want them to make a better environment for people then. Like free Wifi and such.

Recently, people watch more videos online than TV.

We watch movies on the go and that's expensive.

Would be good if they could use those ¥1000 to better the city for every one.

I think that would also make for more people wanting to travel.

The economy in Japan is not going that smoothly yet either,

But making chances for people to get that money back, like little raises in salary or such...

giving a little bit back into everyone's household money, would be good.

Do you feel any benefit from your taxes?

If we didn't have them, some things would be tough.

I would like to believe that it's getting used somewhere where I can't see it.

I don't feel any personal benefits.

Recently I can see more barrier free places.

This makes a better environment for disabled people.

Right now your tax is 8% right?

Do you think Japan is using these 8% wisely?

No I don't think so.

Generally some higher up people use it for something else, in secret.

I have seen some of that, that's why I don't believe Japan does.

I don't think it is being used well.

Not much, I have never thought about it.

I think all the money just goes to some higher ups.

Does Japan use their taxes for everyone's sake?

What do you think? - I don't know either.

I hope they will in the future.

What shall your taxes be used for?

I want them to use it in education or such.

Japan is using comparatively little money on education.

I think that's not good so it would be nice if they could reduce or abolish educational fees.

I am not sure if taxes can solve that problem but...

I live by myself and the trains in Tokyo are so crowded...

I want the government to use money wisely...

and find a way to reduce the amount of people on the trains...

Less packed trains ... - Yes.

What should they do to make that happen?

Have more trains or add more subway lines.

That's why I think having more trains is important.

The rush hour in the morning is super tough

If you go to university you pay about ¥4,000,000 (40,000 dollars) or more...

I wish they would reduce those educational fees.

Don't just build stuff in the big cities, but also in the countryside.

There is nothing in Yamagata...

You want them to give an incentive to come outside of Tokyo...

I want taxes to be used on kids and babies.

Recently so much money goes to the pensioners in Japan...

But there doesn't seem much support for the little ones.

Like having more kindergartens? - That's right.

I want the money to be used for daycares and such.

But at the same time also for the older people.

- Use it for all? - Yeah nobody left out.

Orphanages and places for kids, I would like them to get more money.

Those were our questions. Thanks so much.

Sayonara... goodbye.... but before you leave.... don't forget...

to pay me ¥1000.

So how is the Sayonara Tax gonna work?

Some people are not quite sure about it. Some say Hey if you have the money to travel

you might as well.

I find it's an interesting idea. We have something similar in Germany.

Every time you go to the doctors, we need to pay 10 Euros in the quarter of the year.

I think it will be difficult for people who have to frequently fly in and out of Japan

At the airport generally people get rid of their change and money beforehand

I am not sure how they will implement those ¥1000 and how they are gonna make people pay

The only thing I would be worried about is making the cues even longer

Right now at immigration the cue for leaving and entering Japan

especially during peak seasons is already quite long.

If they want to implement that during, for ex, the cherry blossom season

or the Olympics...

I just don't know how they are gonna do this.

I have seen all counters in use and cues... Usually the Japanese people

have a counter where they can just go through and they don't wait...

The counters for foreigners going into Japan and out of Japan are...

sometimes so packed especially at Narita airport...

I have seen things... OMG...

I am getting shock syndrome just thinking about it.

I don't know how they are gonna make people pay and minimize the cues.

It could lead to people delaying their flights, missing their flights...

That's something to look out for. If you come during those times...

You might have to be at the airport even earlier just to make all of that happen.

There is not a system as of yet. We are not quite sure so we will learn more about that

Let us know what you are thinking about the Sayonara Tax. Looking forward to

seeing some comments down below.

Or wherever the comment box is on your device.

I hope you enjoyed this. Don't forget to leave us a like and if you are new to our channel

please subscribe so you don't miss any future videos for stuff from Japan.

It seems like the general amount of people is thinking that the money is not getting used right

especially health care and similar things like that...

Also with the amount of kindergartens and stuff.

There are many things that need to get fixed and I hope they are using the money to fix it

but I have the feeling they are just gonna build more pretty buildings for the Olympics.

Which is what they are doing a lot right now.

The general amount of people seems to think the tax is not getting used in the right ways

The main amount of Japanese people seems to be thinking that. Interesting.

Let us know what you think about it. Looking forward to reading your comments.

As always catch you soon on AJ. Don't forget to like subscribe, link and check out the other comments

This is how TerraSana's amazake is made in Japan | authentic and organic - Duration: 2:19.

TerraSana visits Marukura Amazake, owned by Yasuo Okada

What is amazake and how is it made?

Amazake is a vegetable sweetener made from brown rice, koji and water

But if it is made only from rice, why is amazake so sweet?

This is achieved through a wonderful, authentic process!

First of all, the rice is expertly polished

The rice bran is kept separate and lightly toasted

The polished rice and the toasted rice bran are cooked and then mixed with koji

Now the process really starts

The mixture is placed in stainless-steel containers and left in a fermentation room for three days

In this damp, warm environment, the koji fungus grows explosively

As the mass also needs air, Mr Yasuo scoops the mixture over by hand twice a day

An intensive task, but this allows the koji to reach deep into the rice grain

And this is important for the next fermentation step

After 3 days, the koji rice is ready

Now brown rice is steamed until cooked

And mixed with the koji rice and some water

It is placed in a covered stainless-steel container in a heat cell at 60 degrees Celsius

After 24 hours, a small miracle has taken place: the rice grains have turned into amazake

A lovely, thick, golden-yellow, unique liquid vegetable sweetener

Ready to be bottled and pasteurised.

Through this unique process, TerraSana's amazake is 20% sweeter than others and deliciously soft

You can use amazake to replace eggs and/or sugars

In ice cream, desserts, cakes, tarts and other bakes

The unusual flavour gives an extra dimension to your dish and makes it deliciously sweet and creamy

Diluted with one part water, it also provides a great energy boost for athletes

An organic, natural sweetener that is truly authentically Japanese!

✅ 2019 Mazda CX-3 launches in Japan with new 1.8L diesel | CarAdvice - Duration: 1:41.

The facelifted 2019 Mazda CX-3 range has launched in the company's home market of Japan, hinting at what's to expect from the updated crossover when it arrives in Australian showrooms later this year

Headlining the upgrades are a new 1.8-litre turbo diesel, new active safety equipment, and more upmarket trimmings and finishes throughout the cabin

Firstly, the new engine option replaces the pre-facelift range's 1.5-litre oiler

Outputs for Japan are rated at 85kW of power at 4000rpm, and 270Nm of torque from 1600 to 2600rpm – that's up 8kW on the old motor, while peak torque is available for an additional 100rpm

Both the new diesel and revised 2.0-litre petrol engine (which gets a 1kW power bump) meet new Euro 6d-temp emission standards, including the real-drive emission test (RDE)

In addition to the upgrades detailed at the New York motor show – which include LED tail-lights, revised alloy wheels, and a redesigned centre console with armrest and electronic park brake – the Japanese-market version also gets the latest version of Mazda's autonomous emergency braking system, which can now detect pedestrians at night time

White House: Trump to meet with Japan's Abe ahead of "expected" North Korea talks - Duration: 3:01.

The White House says President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plan to meet in advance of the "expected meeting" between Mr

Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. According to a White House statement, Mr

Trump and Abe spoke over the phone on Monday. They discussed their shared goal of achieving "the complete and permanent dismantlement of North Korea's nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and ballistic missile programs," which they agreed was "imperative

" The call came amid a whirlwind of activity over the possible June 12 summit in Singapore

Mr. Trump pulled out of the meeting Kim Jong Un last week, but then said a day later that it could get back on track

The White House's latest characterization of the meeting as "expected" appears to be a further sign that it could go ahead

Mr. Trump said Sunday that a U.S. team was in North Korea to work on plans. Another U

S. delegation was in Singapore to work on logistics. The two leaders last met at Mr

Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate last month where the two discussed continuing the international campaign to apply "maximum pressure" on the North Korean regime in the hopes of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula

It was during that visit that Abe noted North Korea's history of empty promises, stressing the need to continue pressure on the North Koreans despite their willingness to come to the table for talks
