Why my dad living in Japan. And What is it like? (字幕あり) - Duration: 7:52.

Hello

Today I'm collaborating with my dad.

Nice to meet to you.

Like I told you in the first video,

I was born in Brazil and came to Japan when I was 2 years old.

Since then I've been in Gifu (country side of Japan).

My parents are both Brazilian.

My mum is a Brazilian of Japanese decent.

And my dad is a Brazilian mixed of Portuguese and Italian. As you can see.

Today we're gonna talk about the difference of culture between Japan and Brazil.

So dad, please introduce your self.

I'll talk in Portuguese and Isabella is gonna put subtitles.

Well my name is Roberto Martins.

I came to Japan in 1990.

I came to work at factory.

And I'm almost 28 years in Japan.

I'm from São Paulo.

Small town.

It's not that small.

Town called Barretos.

It's close to São Paulo.

A town close to São Paulo, I say Barretos but it's actually smaller.

It called Jaborandi.

Is it on a map?

It is on a map.

There're 7000 citizens.

That's where I came from to Japan.

I've worked at the factory for long time. About 2 years.

2 years isn't that long, is it?

I don't know.

Then I wanted to have my own things, and Japan gave me opportunities.

Now I work with foods, I cook,

I sell Brazilian products at my store.

If you're interested there's the link.

Free propaganda is nice.

Well then I'm in here for long time.

My daughter was born in 1995.

We made her in Japan but she was born in Brazil.

My wife wanted to that Isabella was born in Brazil,

There're cultural differences in this part as well.

Japanese doctors have Japanese culture,

And she wanted to have a baby in Brazilian hospital.

She felt safer for being able to talk to doctors.

So we went back to Brazil in 1995,

Then my daughter was born there.

We came back after 2 years.

Wait,

Why did you come to Japan?

Well. I didn't come for only 1 reason.

For many reasons I came.

But the biggest reason was that

I crossed to world for LOVE.

That's the main reason, right?

Brazil has the serious problem.

headed to Awajishima now

if I don't make this bus Miki will definitely be mad

*headed for Sumoto bus center*

hey, I'm here. You close?

I want to show you all something special

in preperation for our wedding

we're headed to a place I think none of you have been to

okay we're here! Miki - where are we?

a factory that makes traditional Japanese things

in particular, one special item made in

Awajishima

one certain item?

what could it be??

try to guess and see if you can figure out what it is!

come back safely! - roger that

so what are we going to make now?

coasters for our wedding ceremony

first you smooth out the surface

after

just like kneading bread

okay it's done!

if you put this on your face it's like a facial mask

now we're cleaning up the surface

the final step!

wow yours looks dirty

it's lumpy!

the final product!

did you all guess right!?

a roof tile manufacturer! (traditional tiles made of clay)

in the south of Awajishima (I said it wrong)

it's gotta be tough being a craftsman. Mad respect

before coming to Japan I had no idea what clay roofs were like

I'd seen them in movies but didn't really think about it

because there's nothing like it in Canada

so it was a good tour!

why do you use clay for roofing?

it's suitable for Japan's climate

the climate? yeah especially the

humidity here is extreme

other roofing materials get really hot

but clay roofs don't fluctuate in temp

and are natural so

they handle water absorption well

tough to explain

but yeah they're suited for rainy/humid weather

the field of pines

Tokyo Nakano Japan (11. Vlog) - Duration: 10:09.

Otaku

basically this is a Japanese term for a person who has an obsessive interest

commonly in Anime or Manga fandom

or it could also describe any other person with a hobby or interest that he is obsessed about

there are a few areas in Tokyo

where you can find memorabilia for Otaku culture

The most commonly known is Akihabara, the heart of Otaku

but today, I like to show you Nakano Ward in Tokyo

If people, of course I do not want to generalize

but if people call you Otaku, it is not a compliment

even if it comes with a big laugh

recently there was a study in 2013

a lot of people do not associate Otaku negatively anymore

but from my experience

it is very often mention

I want to say, not a positive way

Actually it (the negativity to the Otaku term) came from a serial murderer in the 80's

who killed little girls

"The Otaku Murderer"

but personally I do not think this is associated with that

it has more to do

how people

are seen in public

So, you have the salary man on one hand and than the Otaku on the other hand

with pink hair and a very fancy outfit etc.

What do you think?

If you translate Otaku from Japanese to English, nerd will come up

if you translate Japanese to German, Aussenseiter comes up

which is translated into English as outsider

definitely, I think, there is a confusion about it

so, I would not count on it, that this is a positive thing to be called Otaku in Japan

in my time in Japan I have never had any personally contact with a person who is described to be otaku

well, what I want to say is

this is not mainstream in Japan

also a lot of people describe Japan as that

secondly, what you will see in the video

a lot of junk

pretty, stimulating, appealing, exciting, revealing, profitable, inspiring, entertaining, enthralling junk but junk

but junk

so

to end the explanation of Otaku from my point of view

Otaku starts when it gets obsessive

in collecting this kind of memorabilia

for me junk

and if this is the highest priority in life

and maybe when this person start to stop socializing

so, I think it is a negativ term in Japan

So, last Friday we had Premium Friday

which is the Friday in Japan when the Salary Man goes early home

to spent time with the family

and hopefully make babies

well

we past that experience

and my husband wanted to show me the area where he lived

when he went to University

it happen to be Nakano Ward

So, I hope you like today's episode

it is now around 5.30pm in Japan

and I have to prepare dinner now

see you next time

Tea and Sword experience in Ginza : Japan in Motion S14#18 "Tokyo" - Duration: 12:06.

Hello! I'm Umi-Kuun!

I'm Mio Masui, Mio-Mio is my nickname

We are now at Ginza

There is the composite school of "WA (Japan)" to learn Japanese way of thinking from various respects here in Ginza

At once, let's go there!

They are heading for a Japanese composite school in Ginza,

which is a shopping district for mostly high-end products, hence is very popular for foreign tourists

Hello!

Nice to meet you! Thank you in advance!

Could you tell us what to do here?

This school has four departments of Kimono costume, Tea ceremony, Calligraphy and Art of sword drawing

By way of trainning of Japanese culture,

they are to learn the virtue of Japan and Japanese ways of thinking

Here, HiSUi TOKYO was opended in 2014,

the considerably professional Japanese culture can be learned in a short period of time

Before being trained by a teacher, the two were asked to have change their clothes

I've changed the clothes!

What do you think?

I wear a divided skirt (Hakama)

I feel I become tense!

All right, let's call Mio-Mio san

Mio-Mio!!

Ha-ai! Jya-jyan!

Very cute!

It's deemed to change your hair-color for today

Your hair color perfectly fits your Kimono. That's right!

A professional "Kitsukeshi", wearer of Wafuku (Kimono) teaches the method for dressing Kimono to them

What do you think?

If I consider you before my eyes in a comprehensively way, I feel it's captivating!

Very well-matched I think! Umi-Kuun, you, too!

Your masuculinity comes out very well

I was round shouldered until a few minutes ago

I've heard you were often told "Getting a hold of yourself" from the teacher

I'll see to it! Let's do it properly!

Let's start with Tea Ceremony

At first, they learn Tea Ceremony

Tea Ceremony was established in the Edo era to learn the manners about how to enjoy "Maccha (Powdered green tea)"

There are a lot of detailed rules

How much do they know the rule ?

Please take care of us!

Please sit down! Thank you. Nice to meet you!

I am very glad that you have come

This is Ms. Suzuki, a teacher responsible for Tea Ceremony

Immediately,

I'd like to correct your manner when you've entered this room

There were some problems in their manners when they entered the Tea-Ceremony Room

What's wrong with that?

The teacher sets a good example for them

Open a paper sliding door like this while sitting, and enter the tea-ceremony room

then, turn around to close the door

and then sit there

I entered this room with leaving a door open

I entered the room while standing to open the door

With fear of unfavorable development,

Mio-Mio who has learned the Tea Ceremony at a school,

is challenging the manner while inviting guests

She can manage these tools, can't she?

What if inside of that?

What's this?

I don't know. This is a container of water

It's wet!

Do with this!

What's this?

Where do I put it?

Furthermore,

Ho!!

When she tried to touch a piping hot kettle with bare hands

The teacher unintentionally gave her a helping hand

I must not mind your own business, though, it's too hot!

With pull herself together, she put a teaspoonful powdered green tea in a tea bowl

Without any hesitation,

With holding a tea bowl by bare hand, and poured directly hot water into the tea bowl

Ah, ha, ha, ha!

The teacher is fully occupied in suppressing her laughter

Some tea put on the dipper

The teacher burst int laughter while looking at the Mio-Mio's manner to serve Japanese tea

The prepared Japanese tea is not bubbled yet, but it has finished with this

I did it!

This is your first experience to make some tea in real earnest, so

you slightly got nervous

Without conforming to the rules of manners in Tea Ceremony

I'll give you only a zero to your performance. A Zero point!

It's nothing!

There is no way. The manners of Tea Ceremony that Mio-Mio learned at a school was rated "Zero"

If the teacher lists up no-good manners for Mio-Mio, there's no end to them

but, the reason why the powdered tea could not form bubbles at all,

is due to the amount of powdered tea being put into a tea bowl

Since the trace of a bamboo teaspoon is remained only here in the powdered green tea,

meaning that an exceedingly small amount of the tea powder was put in a tea bowl

How much the tea powder should I put in a tea bowl?

Normally, about two and a half spoons of powdered tea for well forming bubble

Very great in quantity!

Scoop up with the bamboo spoon about this amount and put it into the bowl

What is more, hot water is scooped by a dipper and brought it toward the bowl

Should not hold the bowl in the hand

It's much better to pour the hot water from the rim of the tea bowl by a whisker

This much

With pushing the bowl, and remove the powder putting around the bowl, and pouring hot water onto the powdered tea

You must not turn a bamboo tea whisk round, but must move it up and down

Became bubbly! I've got it!

Compared to the tea made by a teacher,

the difference is quite obvious , there is a great difference in quality between them

Umi-Kuun is challenging to the role of being in charge of an invited guest for Tea Ceremony

First of all, look at the tea bowl,

Even though I think it'll partially ticklish, I had better praise it as "Very Nice Bowl"

After saying in that way,

With let myelf go a little bit,

then, I turn the bowl round on my palm

and drink it

Great! Very tasty!

You made good in some manners, but you are all thumbs in others

How many points would you give me out of a hundred?

50 points!

One half of your manners is good!

They are learning about how to drink tea proprietly

Let's pick a bowl up

At first, why not show your gratitude

Towards everything on Earth

Let's acknowledge towards your own existence in the world, and

Not turning it round unintentionally

It's because I'm not well-qualified person to be given it from the front,

that means to deprecate yourself

Hold it with your right hand, turn it slightly to avoid the front face of the bowl to drink

At any rate, it's important to avoid the front face of the bowl

I've got it!

It's very important to drink the tea with avoiding the front face of the bowl

The training of Tea ceremony has finished in about two hours

Next, what's the subject to teach us?

Art of sword drawing!

Succesively, they teach the two the art of sword drawing

The sword drawing is that they unsheathe a sword from a scabbard and

quickly cut something by a sword

Can they cut it like this in a proficient manner?

It's an authentic sword!

Yes, it is!

From now, we can have a teacher teach us this, can't we?

Immediately, they started trainning

First of all, the two are going into training about how to cut something by using Mogito (practice sword), which

makes its shape and weight resemble a genuine sword

One step ahead of your right foot

art of drawing my sword, all right!

Let's draw a sword slowly

Now, let's do it!

and a right hand is the front, and a left hand is back

Just as it is,

quickly swing the sword up over your head

A little bit higher

Have raised the sword high enough?

Swing the point of sword downward slowly until your belly button

Swing downward slowly

They continued practing it for about 30 minutes using practice sword

This is a genuine Japanese sword. Why not hold it?

It's heavy, isn't it?

They are challenging to try out by using a genuine sword

on soaked straw target

The first challenger is Umi-Kuun

Can he show the benefits of practice?

Yes, please

Very good!

He was successful in swing the sword downward vibrantly

Thank you very much!

Marvellous!

When I cut it, I was too absorbed in my exercise

I remember nothing!

As if I was in another world

This is the first time for Mio-Mio to touch a genuine sword

Swing the sword up over your head

Let's swing the sword downward with all your strength,

That's amazing, Princess!!

Mio-Mio will in no way beiieve the sharpness of the sword!

A teacher, thank you so much for today

You've done very good job! Really?

By way of today's experience of Tea Ceremony and Drawing sword,

We'll greatly appreciate if you can understand Japanese ways of thinking much better than before,

Why not transfer that for the world

We expect that very much

Thank you very much in advance!

Thank you very much for today

We believe you are able to have a very good experience

Hi, folk, why not experience Japanese ways of thinking at HiSUi TOKYO in Ginza,

Please come by all means

I heard what Naito said in Osaka, I took it to heart.

I don't want to go out as just a loser.

I'm not sure if I showed enough of my greedy side...

I guess it pushed me to overcome Ospreay and ACH.

I checked out the Weekly Pro-wrestling mag, they called me 'Greedy BUSHI'.

I like the sound of that.

Watch me closely, tomorrow.

EN SERIO.

MA-JI-DE.

Throughout this tour, I've faced Toa Henare many times...

You can see the results for yourself.

But I did get a sense of him.

He failed to stir me up, but I know what he's got in there.

I forgot when it was but he challenged Ishii...

I guess he got something out of that.

His future is looking bright.

I hope one day you make me sweat a bit.

Also…

This was an opportunity for me to face someone new...

Flip Gordon was a lot of fun, too.

I hope I get more time with him.

This is why I'm so excited for BUSHI vs Flip, tomorrow.

I'll watch them from the corner of the venue, with my eyes wide open.

Oh! Today is also Hiromu vs…… Chris Sabin. It's coming up.

I'll go shower quickly, so I can enjoy the match with everyone else.

See you guys tomorrow, in Hachinohe.

Adios.

WHAT'S BAD ABOUT JAPAN? Japanese girls on university fees and tolerance issues in Japan - Duration: 8:13.

Hey guys it's Cathy Cat and today we are gonna go onto the streets of Tokyo

and ask the youth what they are unhappy about in Japanese society.

Usually Japanese people don't really like to talk negatively about their society

but we got some interesting answers.

If you are curious about more of our videos, don't forget to hit the subscribe button...

Let's start the video!

What stinks in Japan these days?

Monotone fashions are in style right now so...

Many people just wear black and white.

Well, less white, mostly only black. - Lots of black.

It's such a waste! - It is!

People are too uptight about Harajuku fashion.

What do you mean?

I come from the countryside of Yamanashi to Harajuku.

If I ride the train here, highschool boys will say "There is a weird person here" and such.

They will point their fingers behind my back and such...

It makes me feel bad, but when I arrive here, I feel better.

I wish it wasn't like that.

So in Harajuku you can wear your own styles freely, but not in other areas?

It's exactly like that.

The same counts for people who color their hair.

Colorful hair and fashion are not really accepted.

What do you say about that, with your colorful hair?

Well, I am still going to University right now.

It's a music university.

Other students tell me they like my hair.

But people at work...

in areas like that, people don't have the same tolerance.

So you should look like everyone else?

Yeah...

reading the atmosphere, it often spells that out.

So in recent Japan, unique styles are not very accepted by society?

It hasn't been officially said, but generally our fashion is not very accepted.

People often treat us as rare oddities.

So if you are different, will people distance themselves a little?

Yes, people will distance themselves a little.

I feel like Lolitas in Harajuku have become less these days.

I think things have not been getting any better.

Do you mean Japanese society has become less tolerant about this fashion?

Instead of opening up, it has become more tight?

Yeah it feels like that to me.

I feel pretty certain that Lolita fashion girls have become less in Harajuku.

Do you think so too? - I think so...

In the 90s GAL fashion was a real boom in Tokyo.

During those days, there were a lot more colorful people in Japan.

I think there are less nowadays.

How do you want things to be in the future?

I want Japan to give work to people who have colorful hair or clothes too.

That includes the customer service industry.

Even at the convenience stores, you can only work if you have black hair as Japanese.

Even convenience stores? - Yes.

I would like to be able to work normally like other people.

So once you need to find a job, do you need to quit dressing and styling unique?

The vast majority has to do that.

This topic moves away from fashion but...

I want fees of private and public university fees be halved.

Please, they need to only be half. - Why so?

Entering university education should be made easier.

I am a university student. In Japan, you need to go to university to get the job you want.

But many young people don't have that kind of money.

If you don't have enough money for the fees, you can not enter university in Japan though.

I want this to be more equal.

There are a few young people who manage to save up their own money for university...

If you are one of the best, you might get a scholarship.

But that's a rare case example. It should be made easier to go to university for more people.

Going to university, how much are you paying in fees per year?

I pay about ¥500,000 per year. (around $4580)

That is quite a hefty sum of money. - Yes it is.

But a private school takes up even double or more the money.

Students who need to go into a private school in order to study what they want

must have an even harder time, wanting to enter a university.

Well there are the university fees but you also need your own living expenses...

and if you have to pay rent on top of that, that's pretty tough.

That's true. I am lucky to still get looked after by my parents.

And liking a fashion like this, coasts extra money too...

So yeah, a lot of things are not easy...

So entering university is quite tough in Japan?

Going to university without parent's support sounds difficult in Japan.

Yeah. There are a few cases of students who try and study with their own money...

One friend's life is divided into sleeping, working and studying.

She has absolutely no time for herself.

How much are you paying in fees? - I am going to a private school so.....

My fees are a lot higher than that.

Can I ask how much? Just give me a general number if that's ok with you.

At least double of what she pays.

So about ¥1,000,000 ... (about $10,000)

That's quite tough. - It is.

I am lending scholarship money from the country right now in order to make it.

But in my future, I need to return all of that money again.

I will graduate and then spend several decades paying it back...

Please do your best! - I will try!

Do you think your fees are too high?

Yes I wish it was easier to study in Japan.

Are there friends who could not enter university because of the fees?

Yes in High School some friends had that problem.

There are many young Japanese who want to study but can't afford it.

Because it's too expensive? - Yes.

Those were our questions. Thank you.

The girls we asked were unhappy about their perception of their fashion

and the way they express themselves

But also school fees. Fees in Japan are incredibly high.

If you have the chance to come to Japan as an exchange,

you probably only pay the rate of your exchange school,

which means for one year you come to Japan and don't have to pay the high fees...

however... oh? .... a door just closed.

If you come to Japan and study with the same standards as a Japanese student...

it is very very expensive. In Germany we still have the luck that most university fees

are very low or for free.

I know in the UK it's very expensive and in Japan unfortunately also very expensive.

Especially the private schools.

That's the one thing that is a problem and also the reason why I did not go university

in Japan but in the UK at the time cause the fee was still lower.

How about you? How are the university fees in your country?

I am really curious. Please let me know. Write a comment now so I can

find out. Also if you guys are interested, look at each others comments...

don't forget to comment on each others comments...

I love it when people build a community.

We are the Ask Japanese community, whooop whoop!

I wish you a lovely day! Don't forget, please subscribe if you are new

and leave a like on the way out. See you soon, bye!

KUSHIDA gets a vital win over Desperado, and closes in traditional Japanese style! - Duration: 5:55.

Everyone here in Kooriyama, thank you.

I'm heading towards the finish line.

Today I'm victorious in the main event of the SUPER Jr.

One more thing...

I have two more tournament matches, I'll win both.

I'll repeat as SUPER Jr. winner, as only I can do.

Now, if you'll please stand up...

Let's close this out together...

SUPER Jr. used to be overlooked, we were only given the main event at Korakuen.

But on the smaller shows, we were always put in opening matches.

This year, it's finally been changed. Thank you, everyone, it's because of you.

Now, are you guys ready?

In hope of my second straight SUPER Jr. win...

All together now!

Damn. Crap!

Can't beat him. I can't. Why?

Why? Damn!

I want to beat him. I want it!

The tournament isn't over yet, but I don't give a damn, right now.

KUSHIDA, you bastard.

Damn!

Now you are winning again.

Yes, that was a really close win.

Well... Really…

The difference today was that I wanted to win more than he did.

That's it.

Did you see any difference in him since last September?

He was a completely different man.

He has a new tenacity.

I never lost my hope to reach this point.

But for him, after he beat Hiromu,

His motivation waned a bit.

I had some losses in the first half,

That pushed me to turn things around.

What are your thoughts on the Juniors main-eventing this entire tour?

You heard the pop, right?

We're getting the loudest reactions and I'm having fun.

Personally, this is the most fun I've had during a SUPER Jr.

And, I'm fortunate to be in B block, with so many great wrestlers.

I'm having so much fun, I'm getting into the spirit of it.

After Desperado, I have Dragon Lee and Takahashi Hiromu.

I'm going to leap over them and end up at the finish line.

Did losing to Taguchi in quick fashion have an affect on you?

It's always bad to lose the points.

It doesn't help to dwell on how I lost.

Have to approach it differently.

Maybe that was a gift from the coach.

It let me save my strength.

I had needed that strength to overcome SHO.

SHO, and today's victory...

I should thank coach.

I'm just going to keep running to the final, merely by instinct.

That's all.

Why does Japan work so hard? | CNBC Explains - Duration: 5:14.

Working long hours is a way of life in Japan.

So much so, that some occasionally die from it.

Karoshi is a term that means death by overwork.

So why are people working so hard? And can it be fixed?

Japan has some of the longest working hours in the world.

Nearly a quarter of Japanese companies have their employees

work more than 80 hours of overtime per month.

Those extra hours are often unpaid.

Today, Japan's corporate culture is driven by the so-called, salaryman.

The salaryman is defined by his loyalty to his company

and expected to spend his entire career working for the same firm.

Not only does he work long hours in the office, but it's also assumed

he'll participate in after-work activities too, like drinking with colleagues.

And they're not taking enough time off.

In 2017, one survey found that despite being entitled to 20 days off per year,

Japanese workers left 10 of those days unused - topping every other country in the survey.

You don't have to be in the confines of corporate walls to feel the impact of its work culture.

It's 3am Thursday morning right now in Tokyo, I'm in the area of Ginza.

Every few minutes I see a man wearing a suit, holding a briefcase.

The nation's work ethic dates back to what's referred to as Japan's economic miracle,

which was its dramatic economic growth beginning in the 1950s,

which propelled it to become the world's second-largest economy.

Inside Japan's corporations, the culture emphasizes the success of

a company as a whole, to be more important than any single individual.

Which might explain why one study found that 63% of Japanese felt guilty for taking paid leave.

But perhaps more concerning is this:

Long work hours don't necessarily mean high productivity.

In fact, Japan has the lowest productivity amongst the G7 nations.

Earlier I mentioned the term, karoshi - it means death by overwork.

It's legally recognized by the government and usually is marked

by a heart attack, stroke or suicide due to stress.

There's hundreds of cases of karoshi reported annually, although some argue these cases

are underreported and that the real number could exceed that by up to ten times.

An employee of the advertising firm Dentsu jumped to her death in 2015.

The cause was said to have been depression caused by overwork.

The case generated widespread attention and renewed calls to change the long working hours

and illegal unpaid overtime highly common in Japan.

The firm was fined for violating labor standards because she was reportedly forced

to work more than 100 hours of overtime per month.

The company's CEO even resigned over the controversy.

After the death, Dentsu made some changes within the company.

One of them?

The lights in the office now turn off at 10pm every night in an effort to force employees to leave.

Both the government and companies are now

actively trying to reduce the number of working hours here.

And there are some early signs of hope.

Japan's government has considered several initiatives to curb the number of hours spent

at the office, including making it mandatory to take at least five vacation days a year

and requiring a "rest" period between the end of one day and the start of another.

In 2016, a new holiday "Mountain Day" was started,

bringing Japan's number of annual public holidays to 16.

And in 2017, the government launched an initiative called Premium Fridays,

in which it encouraged companies to allow their employees to leave at 3pm

on the last Friday of the month - promoting consumer spending and less time in the office.

But one study found that less than 4% of employees in Japan

actually left early on the first Premium Friday.

Which is why despite these initiatives, a cultural challenge still looms.

Since Japan's culture emphasizes the group over the individual, well,

no one wants to be the first one to leave the office.

And there's another reason that there's pressure on people to work hard.

Japan's economy is in danger.

And in order to maintain its massive size, Japan needs to put in the hours.

Japan lost its spot as the world's second-largest economy to China in 2011 -

a title that it had previously held for 42 years.

Japan is dealing with a labor crisis.

Its population is aging fast and its birth rate is in decline.

That means its total population is going down.

And in the next 50 years, it's projected to shrink by nearly a third.

The population is expected to go from 127 million in 2015, to just 88 million by 2065.

There's two likely ways the nation can compensate for the labor shortage - immigrants or robots.

Japan has always been less inclined to accept immigrants.

In fact, its percentage of foreign workers is tiny compared to other nations of large economies.

So without more immigrants, it's looking to robotics to fill in the gap.

Its robotics industry has spanned from hospitality to manufacturing,

and now even reaching farms by creating robots that milk cows.

But whether technology could open the door for

a better work-life balance for Japan's workforce still remains to be seen.

Japan's World Cup squad includes 11 players that featured in Brazil 2014 despite group stage defeat

Japan coach Akira Nishino is relying heavily on veteran players with previous World Cup experience in his 23-man squad for the tournament.

Keisuke Honda, Shinji Kagawa and Shinji Okazaki were among almost a dozen named on Thursday who represented Japan four years ago in Brazil when the country failed to advance from the group stage.

'I considered many factors,' Nishino said.

'These players have experience but more than that they were picked based on their performance and the balance they offer.'.

Nishino made his debut as Japan coach on Wednesday when his team lost to Ghana 2-0 in a friendly.

Japan fired Vahid Halilhodzic last month, only two months before the World Cup in Russia opens, and replaced him with Nishino.

In two World Cup warm-up matches, Japan will face Switzerland on June 8 in Lugano, Switzerland, and Paraguay on June 12 in Innsbruck, Austria.

Japan will play in Group H at the World Cup with Colombia, Poland and Senegal in their sixth straight World Cup.

They have only twice reached the knockout round, losing both times in the last 16.

Kashima Antlers midfielder Kento Misao, Stuttgart forward Takuma Asano and Leonesa midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi were the three players dropped from the 26-man squad for Japan's final World Cup warmup against Ghana.
