Customer Service Representatives Career Video - Duration: 1:24.

People with strong listening

and problem-solving skills…

who can patiently explain

product details and handle complaints…

have the key qualities needed

to be a customer service representative.

Customer service representatives

—or CSRs—

work in nearly every industry

to process orders,

provide information about products

and services,

and resolve complaints… usually by phone,

although some work with customers

face-to-face, by email, or live chat.

Customer service representative duties

vary by industry:

they may answer banking account questions,

track utility service outage reports,

process returns and refunds in a store,

or help customers find a product

they're looking for online.

Many CSR positions

are in telephone call centers,

credit and insurance agencies,

banks, and retail stores.

Representatives often answer calls in a large,

shared work area,

which can be crowded and noisy.

Some CSRs are required to take

a certain number of calls during their shift,

and all CSRs deal with at least

the occasional dissatisfied customer.

Most representatives work full time…

schedules may include nights, early mornings,

weekends, or holidays.

Customer service representatives

typically need a high school diploma

and are trained on the job.

Good communication skills

and experience using computers

are helpful for candidates.

100 Faces of Small Business - CPR Insurance Services - Duration: 1:26.

My name is Robert Cooper, I've got a business called CPR Insurance Services and we're

located in Grange, Brisbane.

I was always used to working for other people and so to me the ultimate challenge was to

go out on my own and start my own business.

Fortunately, I did do an MBA about 18 years ago, and that gave me a good grounding in

what was needed to run a business.

Well, we've grown to a size where we've needed to take on additional people and we

have a couple of employees that are very valuable to our business.

One of our employees we took on we decided that we should train someone up from scratch,

so we took on a school leaver and we found that there was a grant available to assist

with paying for their training and the costs of training them up, so we took advantage

of a traineeship from the government.

I've always taken the philosophy of being a learning type atmosphere and to encourage,

nurture, and try to be clear in communication and explain how to do things as much as possible,

but also give the person a feeling of responsibility for their own areas.

100 Faces of Small Business - Sleep Clinic Services - Duration: 0:57.

My name's Brett Chamberlain, I am the Chief Executive Officer of Sleep Clinic Services,

which is a company based in Brisbane in Queensland, but we serve patients all around Australia.

Sleep Clinic Services provides in-home diagnosis and treatment for people who have sleep disordered

breathing conditions.

Uniquely, we have taken that service to the patient in their home, rather than have the

patient come to the service in a hospital.

I was an army officer for the first 20 years of my adult life.

That taught me a great deal about structure and systems management, and indeed, leadership.

My business experience came about after I left the army; I was recruited by a management

consulting firm, as a consultant, and watching other people deal with issues has been a magnificent

opportunity for me to learn how to deal with those issues myself.

So now in this case I am really just applying those same old principles to my own organisation.

100 Faces of Small Business - Phoenix Security Services - Duration: 1:07.

My name is Glenda Pastoor.

My business is Phoenix Security Services.

We operate in Mt Isa.

We offer night patrols, alarm responses, static guards, cash in transit, and basically take

care of any business needs that people need security in Mt Isa for.

If you take care of people, which is a P, and their property, which is a P, profit will

come, and that's basically what we run on, the 3 Ps.

I never went past Grade 10, I never learnt how to do QuickBooks or MYOB or any of that

sort of stuff, I learnt all that on the fly.

I used the Back to Work, which is the grant for people that have been unemployed for a

certain period of time, and it's fantastic.

It's so easy to apply for it.

We've always had compliments that our guards go above and beyond what they're supposed

to, so I'm very happy.

What is Service Design / Desborah Szebeko - Duration: 0:47.

Deborah easy question what is service design well I think this is a

couple of different types of service design and so the first one is around a

way to co-create and improve existing services and then the second is I guess

service design as a way of connecting and creating new services things

that never existed before so there's two different types

so this video is just one piece of the puzzle make sure you

check out some of the other videos to get the full picture and if you're

interested in learning how to explain service design without confusing people

check out the link that I've got for you here or in the description of this episode

thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video

100 Faces of Small Business - R.H.D Classic Supplies & Services - Duration: 1:13.

My name is Sharine Milne, affectionately knowns as Spanner.

I own and operate R.H.D.

Classic Supplies and Services, the motorcycle enthusiasts' shop located in Aitkenvale,

Townsville.

Being a female in a male-dominated field has probably been the hardest challenge.

I did 10 years in hospitality before turning to mechanics.

My daughter was 6 at the time and said, "Mummy, I don't see you anymore."

R.H.D. took me on as pre vocational student and I loved every minute of it.

Our family comes first and for us the business is a family.

Some days you'll even see us fight like siblings.

I don't think it's ever really been a 9 to 5 job; when you love something it never

really is.

I get all of my advice and ideas from those that are around me.

Every single person is unique, their requirements are different which is one of the reasons

why I love my industry so much.

I really didn't think I was boss material for a very long time, prior to owning the

shop, and then I realised that there's no such thing as boss material, it's whatever

you're passionate about.

100 Faces of Small Business - Sports Turf Services Pty Ltd - Duration: 1:04.

Hi, my name is Michael Mundey.

My business is Sports Turf Services and we're based on the Gold Coast.

Our business is a comprehensive green space provider.

We provide services from landscape and turf construction and maintenance, through to large

area revegetation projects.

I'm originally from the bush; I grew up on a dairy farm.

I started by apprenticeship as a greenkeeper many years ago and that led into what we do now.

We currently employ 10 full time employees.

Advice and inspiration mainly comes from my family.

I bounce ideas off my wife, my father, my son.

I was successful in getting a grant for business development; we're currently going through

that process right now.

We got the grant and it's to help us get our company certified.

Thanks to the grant we can actually go through that process and do it now.

So, yeah, they're great ideas.

I'm sitting here looking out the window now, and I'm actually looking at the turf

outside going, oh, maybe we should do that.
