Auto news on Youtube May 30 2018

You may skip this if you watch my broadcast.

I don't like this angle.

It's been a long time since I did the V LIVE.

The cellphone is...

OK. Is it OK now?

Oh my. It's tilted.

Hi. Hi, everyone.

Wait a second.

Hello.

Hi, everyone.

How have you been?

Today, let me start the V LIVE after 3 minutes.

I usually start it after 2 minutes,

but because we have a lot of followers,

the notice alarm is said to be quite late.

Oh my. This is very hot.

Hi. Anyways, I'm going to talk about the behind-the-scene stories of

the album, how we worked on it so far.

And then what should I talk about?

I will share episodes regarding the billboard.

And other things.

How have you been?

Today... Three minutes?

I will have to start talking after 3 minutes.

There are about 3,000 viewers right now.

Let me talk after 3 minutes.

I didn't intend this, but I look like "Red Devils" (Korean cheering party during the 2002 World Cup).

It's cold. It's always like this with air conditioning.

When I put it on ventilation mode, it's too hot, but air conditioning mode is too cold.

I don't know what to do. OK.

Let's start.

Let me say thank you first before we begin.

There were a lot of amazing news today.

A lot. Billboard 200 chart.

We made No.1 on Billboard 200 chart. In a chart based on multi-metric consumption...

Although it includes streaming and other things in the sum...

It's not been updated yet, but it will be updated soon.

And I'm going to capture this and hand it down to descendants as a family treasure.

To my daughters and sons.

I was very surprised.

Post Malone is our brother.

He's been on the top of the chart for about 3 consecutive weeks.

And he's been strong at the top of the list for 3-4 weeks,

that we weren't sure whether it would be possible.

Thanks to a lot of support from the fans,

we were honored to rank No.1 on Billboard 200 chart.

Even President Moon sent us a congratulatory message to surprise us.

We got a lot of congratulations more than ever.

I don't have a lot of acquaintances, but all of them sent me messages.

My family as well. So it's been very...

These days, Gyeongbokbung Palace is opening at night these days.

So I was going to o there.

But then I thought that the whole universe is helping me to do this V LIVE.

So I turned on the V LIVE instead of going there.

Anyways, there were a lot of good happenings.

We also made No.1 in three major broadcasting companies of Korea.

And I think that we're getting good reactions.

With delight, I turned on the V LIVE.

I thought that a lot of fans would've waited.

OK. Let me start now.

Hi, nice to meet you guys. Nice to meet you.

Let me turn "Fake Love".

This is too loud.

Let me start the album review in earnest.

This is our 3rd official album.

Many people don't know it's our 3rd official album.

It is our 3rd official album.

Actually... Oh my. This is tilting.

It's getting on my nerves because it's not horizontal. I'm sorry.

OK. Anyways, it's our 3rd album.

We've released a lot of mini albums so far.

And because there are quite many songs in mini albums as well,

many people seem to be confused whether it's an official album or not.

But it is an official album.

Our third official album,

and there are 11 tracks.

Let me tell you one behind-the-scene story. It was actually 12 tracks.

If you see the screenshot of the playlist that I posted on, it's supposed to be 12.

For one track, we worked with my favorite artists,

and this track was supposed to be the finishing stroke in this album.

But due to some reasons of the artists,

it was postponed.

That was actually my favorite song in the album.

The song that is not in the album is actually my favorite.

It's sad that I couldn't have it in the album.

Actually, my throat is not in a good condition today.

So I was going to postpone the V LIVE.

So I'm makeup-free right now.

I apologize for that.

Anyways, there's that song, and I hope that it will be in our next album.

I loved the song. Although we finished recording,

it's not in this album.

So it was supposed to be 12 track album, not eleven.

Let me tell you that much.

Now, the introduction.

"Intro: Singularity".

Singularity. There's a book titled "the singularity is near".

I'm interested in

what Kurzweil talks about, super artificial intelligence.

Anyways, although it's not much related to the singularity that talks about,

it's an introduction by Taehyung.

Finally, Taehyung wrote an introduction. It's not been long since he wrote "4 O'CLOCK".

I think that "Singularity" is going to be

revalued as time goes by.

It's a song that is better after you listen to it many times. It may be new at first.

You might think, "What kind of song is this? Is it a song? What is this?"

It would be like that you heard something but it's not like you're listening to a music.

And when we introduce these songs, we say that it's neo soul,

neo soul genre.

There's a legendary artist called "D'Angelo" in neo soul.

It's a genre that I like a lot.

And there's Jorja Smith with "Something in the way"

She is also my favorite artist.

Jorja Artist who wrote "Something in the Way". I mean, not Jorja Artist

but Jorja Smith. Her composer wrote a song and I added lyrics to the song.

And Taehyung sang the song.

It took about 3 hours. It took me about 3 hours to write the lyrics.

Although it's embarrassing, I had to record the guide version.

I can't let you hear that because it's horrible.

Taehyung sang it very well. It's a song that is saved by Taehyung.

The more you hear the song, it's better.

It gives you something the more you listen to it.

I wrote it first thinking that Taehyung would like it.

Four days after getting the surgery for deviated nasal septum,

I got things in the nose removed

and came out to the workroom to work on some songs.

I started working on this song first because it was going to be the track No.1.

- So I worked on... - Thank you for writing the lyrics for my song.

Thank you ARMY.

We're recording something in secret.

He should've closed the door well.

That was Taehyung.

We're recording something in secret, so our members are here.

Anyways...

I'm talking gibberish.

Anyways, it took about 3 hours.

And after writing it, I clapped for myself.

"It's done. The lyrics are perfect".

Since producer Bang is always with us when we work on songs,

I brought him here.

I brought him here and he stood here.

He was standing here, "Let's hear what you've got". And I turned the song on.

And I sang the song like this.

Since my voice is very low, I sang it in low key.

And after listening to it, producer Bang went like this.

He said that he got goose bumps

and complimented that the lyrics are perfect.

And this song was the only song that was done without any corrections.

I wrote it thinking of Taehyung.

I can say for sure this song will grow on to you the more you listen to it.

I listened to it a lot when I was writing the lyrics and I haven't heard it for quite some time.

After listening to other songs in the track, I came back to it.

I'm listening to "Singularity" a lot now.

You will find that the more you listen to it, the better it is.

I think that Taehyung is the only one who could've pulled it off like this.

Taehyung is very...

My hair... There are many genres of songs that Taehyung can sing very well.

And of all those, I think neo soul is the bets genre.

Good job, Taehyung.

My neck condition is not good.

Second. "Fake Love".

At first, you might be like, "What is this?"

But this is our title song.

You might know this already, but it's a song that we had the most difficulty.

We don't choose a title song of many songs that we've worked on so far.

We make the title song with a clear picture and concept.

So we fix the title song in the beginning. When we heard the beat first,

Suga mentioned this.

But when he first heard the beat, we thought that it's amazing and unique.

We thought that this is it.

That's why we had the most difficulty working on the song.

I wrote the melody for like 20 times.

I worked on "Love you so bad" part.

"Love you so bad" this part. I only built the foundation of this

and wrote the rap part.

Pdogg and producer Bang worked on the rest.

I found producer Bang

very amazing.

Because he created a totally different song.

It was a great song to begin with. I'm going to play the guide for you.

It was a great song to begin with, but it was very much of a pop song.

We had to think about whether we could do this, whether it's our style,

and whether we could sing and perform to this. That's why title song is difficult.

You need the right tempo and melody for performance.

Only then choreographers can make the dance.

That's the most difficult part, and producer Bang solved that.

There's a guide that I made at first.

Let me play it for you to give you an idea.

The original beat of "Fake Love"

and the rap that I worked on.

If you listen...

There's no guitar sound that covers

"Fake Love" overall.

It's a completely different song.

It used to be more depressing and deeper.

It was very deep. But to adjust to the voice range of our vocalists,

we change the pitch in the end.

Rappers have difficulty adjusting to that.

As far as I know, it went up by 6 and half pitches.

Six and half. That makes a totally different song.

We adjusted to that pitch and added the guitar sound.

That's the "Fake Love" we listen to now.

"Fake Love" was quite depressing.

It wasn't what we could pull off in the beginning.

With the guitar sound now,

it's become the "Fake Love" that we could pull off.

I think this is the "Fake Love" for us.

And it's much better to perform as well.

So... Yes. That's the behind-the-scene story for "Fake Love".

When we heard that it will go up by six or six and half pitches, I was flabbergasted.

Six and half pitches?

I thought about writing the rap part again.

Because pitches are important for rap as well.

There are pitches and melody for rap as well.

So if the pitch goes up, then it's a different rap.

And sometimes I can't do the rap with my voice.

But I divided the part with Jungkook,

and it turned out very well.

The end.

And next. Finally, "The Truth Untold".

Hello, This is "The Truth Untold".

My favorite songs of this album are from

track 3 to 7. The favorite ones to listen to.

"The Truth Untold," "134340,"

"Paradise," "Love Maze," and "Magic Shop".

I think that this is the best lineup.

And this is why you have to listen to our album from the beginning to the end.

The flow goes on.

If you haven't listened to the songs yet, I recommend you to do so

from "Singularity".

So, "The Truth Untold".

It took the longest time to write the lyrics for this.

Because when I got the melody and beat first, it was very difficult to write the rap part.

Song and rap are different like poem and prose.

There aren't many syllables that you can work with in a melody.

It is very connotative,

and yet you have to put everything in it.

And when you sing it in Korean, you need to make sure that the pronunciation is OK.

It might sound very nice in other languages like English.

But when you translate it into Korean or write the lyrics in Korean again,

there are many cases when it doesn't sound good.

Anyways, "The Truth Untold" is about

a person who is living in a mask in a garden.

It has a definite theme, concept, and sentiment.

So it took a very long time

and my friends told me that it was the most difficult song to sing.

The most difficult track to sing.

Actually, the beat and the instrumental are very simple.

And that means that there's a lot for the vocalist to work on.

Because the vocalist's voice functions like instruments.

I'm very grateful for our vocals

and I respect them. I think it's highlighted in this song.

As far as I know, it's high in the chart of our tracks.

And many friends of mine say that this is their favorite song.

Even friends who don't really like songs love this song in particular.

That means that vocal members saved the song.

They whined that this song is too difficult

to sing to.

Despite all that,

when you listen to the completed version,

you can say that our vocal members have improved a lot.

There's a common saying among entertainment agencies that

after the debut, you never improve.

And all you've got as a trainee is everything. We hear that a lot.

I think that it is true to some degree.

Unless you go to extraordinary lengths, you don't improve much.

Because you're busy practicing, recording, and going on schedules.

There's not much opportunity to seriously think about what you've got.

And maybe you may not like doing that.

When I heard "The Truth Untold," I thought that our vocal members' ability to

deliver their emotion has reached the top.

I think that they've done an amazing job

as a vocal unit.

Since it's on ventilation, now I feel hot. I will feel cold after I put it on air conditioning.

There will be no end to this.

Anyways, that was "The Truth Untold".

It took us a long time to write the lyrics.

A very long time for sure.

It was very difficult to make clear pronunciation.

OK. Next is "134340".

Let me find the original track for this.

We raise the pitches for this song a lot as well. About three pitches.

About three pitches. And the original title was "Call Me".

Let's listen.

The pitch is lower. I like this better because it makes better atmosphere.

It has a very unique beat and the flute sound is the key.

I love the instrumental part, and wanted to write to the melody.

But it was very difficult.

If you listen to it,

this "Get Back" part is repeated.

It's in every two bars.

And it got on my nerves when I wrote the rap.

I was rambling to write the lyrics.

And it was keep repeating "Get back".

So I wished that this part was removed.

Actually, the song is better with the part, but I didn't want it.

So I called Pdogg and asked him "Pdogg, can you remove this part for now?"

"I can't write the rap part because of that".

He reduced it for me, I wrote the rap, and we recorded it later.

And interestingly enough, I wrote this song

walking around the Samsung station.

I wrote it wearing earphones.

Maybe the song doesn't sound like one.

It's a quiet and relaxing song.

Anyways, it was hard for me to write it with high notes for the vocal members.

But I wrote the lyrics really fast.

I used the lyrics that

I wrote in the past so I was able to complete the lyrics fast.

And as you know if you read the credit,

Julia Hart and Bobby Chung of Autumn Vacation...

I am a big fan of Autumn Vacation.

"Update", "An Old Couple", "Sometimes I wanna hug you, madly" and more.

They have many great songs. I bought their concert tickets.

I mean I tried to buy their concert ticket. I looked for the information about it.

I still want to go to their concert.

I was so honored to work with them.

Bobby Chung wrote the lyrics for the main part.

And I changed the intro part a little.

I changed it so anyways... I collaborated with Bobby Chung

and we wrote the lyrics. It's a great song.

I think this song is great because of the writing material and track.

It's an unique song. I think this song plays an important role in the album.

Let me move onto the next track.

The 5th track, "Paradise".

Should I play it?

It's so good already.

It's such a great song.

The snap. It's so great already.

We can stop here because the song is so good already.

I wrote the lyrics for "Marathon Marathon".

I recorded the guide version.

How did sing it? Did I sing it in falsetto?

I said that we have to pronounce "Marathon" like this.

Jungkook did a great job.

I think this singer-songwriter I really like should become more popular.

MNEK. MNEK. He writes great songs.

I think people should pay attention to MNEK.

I think he wrote the song together too.

The collaboration with MNEK.

And collaborated with Song Jaekyung of 9andnumbers

for the lyrics.

Right? "Paradise"...

Song Jaekyung wrote most of the lyrics. He did a great job.

And "Paradise" is...

It's about how you don't need to have a dream.

It's not that you shouldn't have a dream but it's...

The term love and dream

both have sociality.

The terms are...

How can I say this? People say the terms over and over

and the terms get extra meanings.

Or sometimes the terms get specific feelings.

Dream and love, the two terms are being used so many times.

They are being used by many people. Yes, they are precious terms but

I think the terms became too sacred.

So we think love should be something that's always beautiful

and we always have to be giving and desperate about it.

It should be something beautiful. And dream too. We think we must have one.

If you don't have a dream, you are not living a life. I think that's not cool.

Because not all love is great and beautiful.

I think hatred is a part of love.

I think love and hatred can be the same thing.

Love is not always beautiful.

You need to sacrifice, give away, care for the ones you love.

There are so much pain related to love.

Which people can't imagine.

But people say love should be something beautiful and nice.

And dream too. People think we must have one.

We think we must accomplish our goals and make our dreams come true.

It's not bad. We all have dreams.

But I didn't always have dream.

Sometimes I have and sometimes I don't.

The dream I had last night is also my dream.

Based on those thoughts I wrote the lyrics.

"Paradise". It's also from Marxism.

I think the term, "Paradise" is similar too.

How can I say this... When I talked to PD Bang about the title,

he told me to name it "Dummy's Race".

He asked me, "How about Foolish Race"?

I was like "Foolish Race"? I think it's from the States... Is it?

Anyways, in this one country, there is a race where you have to run really slow and never pass the finish line.

It's called "Foolish Race".

It's also found in "So What" lyrics.

He suggested "Foolish Race" and I was like "That's too..."

"Paradise" is a sad song.

If you listen to it...

It's very sad. I think it's very sad.

Because it reflects the reality and it's about hope...

I think this song itself is a dream. "Paradise" is a sad song.

I was like, "Foolish Race will make the song sound funny. Don't you think so"?

So fortunately we named it "Paradise".

If we named it, "Foolish Race"...

Anyways, things worked out well for the song.

The next song is "Love Maze". It's my favorite.

It's so good.

This song is... Let me give you a tip.

It's so cold. What do you want me to do? It gets hot and cold.

You have to go outdoors and listen to the song.

It's a great song for outdoor cycling and when you are at Han River.

I listened to this song about 20 times when I was out cycling.

It's so good. So great.

You will feel like you are in this love...

Like this...

"Love Maze" is a great song. There are no edge sound in the song.

So some of you might not like the song.

But you will never get tired of the song.

I think the killing part that I chose is

the connecting rap part of Yoongi and Hoseok.

I really like the part.

Did a great job writing the song.

I think it's a great song.

"Love Maze" is a great song. Memorize this.

OK? Next.

This is it.

It's so good, huh?

It's made based on Jungkook's first draft. "Magic Shop".

I wrote the lyrics for the song.

I guess if I have to say this... Other than "So What" and "Anpanman",

I wrote most part of the lyrics for other tracks.

I think I did a great job writing the lyrics for this song, "Magic Shop".

Jungkook made the first draft and played it for me.

You know the voice in the background. Vocal vox.

At first, it sounded very simple.

With the collaboration with Hiss Noise, it became a great song.

And DJ Swivel did a great job writing the melodic phrases.

Many people collaborated together to make this song great. "Magic Shop".

When I wrote the lyrics for the song, I thought...

The B part hook, "Days when you hate that you're you".

That's my favorite part.

Because there are many days when you hate that you're you.

It could be when you are dangerous.

Or it could be when you are facing a challenge.

There are days when you really don't want to be yourself.

I bet there are many of you who experience days when you hate that you're you.

Even at this moment, maybe there are tens of millions of people who experience this.

You wish that you don't want to be you that day.

The day when you don't want to be yourself.

If that happens, you can make a door in you and visit the "Magic Shop".

In the "Magic Shop", you can find a car and galaxy.

I really believe that we all have galaxies in us so I wrote the lyrics accordingly.

And Jungkook did a great job.

I think it's a perfect fan song.

I feel like it's a fan song for myself.

There are some parts where the lyrics are not grammatically correct.

This part is grammatically wrong.

Also, there is a part "Show you Me Give You Me" in "The Truth Untold".

It's grammatically incorrect.

But I said it's poetic license.

Anyways, if we will perform "Magic Shop" at our concert,

you should sing along with us the part, "I'll show you show me" and

this part too.

It's like this part from "Spring Day".

You will find the part in the song. It's a great song, "Magic Shop".

It's a great song.

Next "Airplane pt.2".

When you listen to the intro, you have to do this.

When you dance to the song,

you have to do this.

If you don't do that, the song won't make you happy.

You have to do the dance when you listen to the song.

Please remember that.

I think our fans will love the song when we perform it at concerts.

It's Latin POP so I think our fans in Latin America will love it.

It was easy when I wrote the lyrics for the song.

"Kim Namjoon or RM". This part is so hard to say. Try to say it.

"Kim Namjoon or RM".

So when I recorded the song, I said it like "Kim Namjoon or RM".

If I roll "R" sound it gets more difficult.

Try to say "Kim Namjoon or RM".

"Kim Namjoon or RM". It's hard, huh?

"Kim Namjoon...Or RM..."

It's not easy.

Please remember that it was difficult song to sing.

When we have the standing mic, the members make it look great.

I don't really have something to say about the song.

The song started from Hope's "Airplane" pt. 1 which I almost featured in it.

Not pt.1 it's just "Airplane".

It's a great song. Done.

You have to do this. It should be natural for you.

It's so good. "Anpanman". It's "Anpanman".

"Anpanman". "Anpanman". I don't know.

It's "Anpanman".

It's "Anpanman". Supreme Boi did a great job for the song.

He sang the part.

My friend from middle school. We're friends for 10 years.

I think Supreme Boi did a great job writing the song.

"I don't have a super car like Batman". This is the lyrics.

At first, I thought it was "Super color Batman".

"I don't have super color Batman". I was like, "What? What's super color"?

It's...

I think it's very BTS-style song.

BTS's identity equals to "Anpanman".

The weakest hero in the world.

If the Anpanman gives a part of his head, it reduces his power.

Anpanman is weak. He doesn't have a muscular body.

He doesn't have special skills.

However, Anpanman wants to try his best for the day.

The funny thing is, "Anpanman" reminds me of "One Punch Man".

The pronunciation is similar to it.

I thought like, "Can we release Anapanman Part 2, under the title of One Punch Man?

"I'm the one punch man who blows a punch to you.

I wanted to release One Punch Man following Anpanman.

Then, I thought Anapanman is the opposite of One Punch Man.

One Punch Man has supernatural strength.

He can blow up everything with his punch.

But Anpanman is weak.

Still, Anpanman tries his best to kill the germ.

Supreme Boi, thank you.

Based on the silhouette, I guess it's Park Jimin.

Next one.

We had a track of this song only before.

actually, it wasn't my cup of tea when I heard the track.

However, I found it was exciting.

He's asking for attention.

Does he want me to notice?

But we see each other at the dorm every day. Right?

When I heard the track of "So What" first, I thought about the theme

and suggested we should talk about our childhood.

The childhood memories that we miss now.

I liked the upbeat mood of this song.

So Yoongi, Hoseok and I gathered up

and talked about the theme of this song.

Taehyung proposed this title of a Korean dialect sentence which means "so what".

It was a nice proposal but a bit inappropriate for a song.

- That was... - Who is this?

I thought it was Jungkook.

Actually, I expected Jimin but it was Jungkook.

- You said it would be Jimin. - Yes.

- Jungkook. - Yes.

You always wear a hoodie. Why did you dress up?

For an interview.

I was talking about the album. Was there any story to share about "Magic Shop?"

When you made it...

Were you talking about "Magic Shop?"

Actually, I finished talking about it but I wanted to hear from you.

Is there any episode to share about "Magic Shop?"

When we produce this album, producer Pdogg said

we would have a song for fans

and he wanted me to make the first part.

- "Jungkook, it's you this time". - Yes.

- The producer pointed out. - Yes, because it was a fan song.

- You know, I can't make an entire song. - Me, too.

But I thought I should make it till the end

and gave it to the producer.

Wasn't it the beat that you let us hear first?

- The beat you let us hear ahead of others. - Right.

- But the song has changed a lot. - It has changed.

I remember his smile when he played

the initial version of this song.

- Didn't it feel nice? - I liked it.

Do we have that? No?

If you have the initial version, please play on Twitter.

- On Twitter? - Yes.

- Will you? I see. - I guess it's hard to release on Twitter.

Why? Oh, it may be.

It may disappoint fans.

- Right. - What were you doing?

- I was at a studio. - Were you working on a song?

No. Producer Bang gave a mission.

- A mission? Can you tell it to fans? - It's not about a song.

- Is it a video clip? - Yes.

- Is it the thing I know? - Yes.

- Were you working on it? - I was about to start.

- I was copying files. - It's a spoiler of an amazing video clip.

- Right. - "Golden Closet Film". An amazing one will come out.

- When will it be? - Nobody knows.

You will know when you start it.

I need to have it confirmed until the date Producer Bang wants.

Why did you dress up so nicely?

- I told you. For an interview. - Right, an interview.

- I had an interview and had my pictures taken. - Okay.

- Now you may leave. - Will you continue to review?

- Yes. - Go on.

If someone is with me, I feel a bit nervous and can't do that.

- Why? - Because it's embarrassing.

- May I go now? - Yes.

Go and start making the film.

I need to wait for awhile to copy and paste files.

- Okay. See you around. - Bye.

Go, dude!

- Enjoy your V LIVE. - Bye.

I'll say bye to fans. Bye!

Bye!

- See you around. - See you. - Okay.

He's cute. When I saw the sihlouette, I wondered if it was Jungkook.

But I thought Jimin was the only one who would do such things.

It was Jungkook. Congratulations.

I had Jungkook and Taehyung as a guest.

I was talking about "So What". Taehyung suggested a title in dialect

but Yoongi changed it ambitiously.

"Let's keep the title in the standard language".

That was a nice idea but it was too long.

So we agreed to have an English title, keeping the meaning of "So What".

So what? What are you going to do?

Our lives will go on. We will live on.

That's how "So What" was born.

I came to hear that you are on V LIVE.

- Did you remove your makeup? - Nope.

I'm the only one who is not wearing makeup.

You look handsome without makeup.

- Hey. - Huh? - You're handsome.

- I'm handsome from birth. - Hey.

Are they numbers of view count and hearts in real time?

- Yes. - Technology has advanced.

Jin, you have wide shoulder.

- Hey. - Why? - You're wearing a top that emphasizes your strength.

- I don't want to de-emphasize it. - Right. - Right.

- It highlights your wide shoulder. - I wanted to be on V LIVE.

- All right. - I would go as I was on it.

- Thank you. - Hey, please say how you feel about topping the Billboard 200.

My acquaintances congratulated me on earning no.1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

I was surprised by how fast people got the news.

- Right, I knew it after hearing from others. - After watching the news,

I thought "What's this?" So I checked it up on Twitter.

I'd like to thank our fans A.R.M.Y.

I should give credit to our agency for making my life so wonderful.

But I think it's all thanks to A.R.M.Y.

Please blow a kiss to fans.

- Bye. - Bye. - It was fun.

As I go live when others are awake,

it's nice because I can have many guests.

I brought a lip balm but it's missing.

I'll just go without it.

I am using the same lip balm that Jungkook showed on V LIVE.

Oh, here it is. Anyways.

That's all about the song "So What".

Okay. It's coming to an end.

Next. Outro. Our outro is always good.

I think it's a great song.

When I heard the piano instrumental, I thought it would be great.

Thank you, DOCSKIM.

When I heard "Tear,"

I thought I should do my best.

It reminded me of my old rap "What Am I To You".

It's been a while since I quit shouting rap.

So I tried it again.

But it was really hard when recording. My voice became hoarse

and I couldn't record the next song.

I should've recorded this as the last thing. I was stupid.

My mom calls me a stupid bear.

I realized that I really was.

For "Tear," it was hard to make the chorus part.

But Suga did a great job.

Three of us made one individually and Suga's was the best.

But the beat is unique. The composition of the song is special.

So we didn't like it when combining both.

We added "You're my tear" part that I made to the end.

After adding it,

after using the bridge part...

What's that?

The part. We talked about who was going to sing it.

I suggested Suga needs to sing this. Everyone agreed and Suga sang it.

Suga made great contribution to this song.

Hoseok does something at the end.

Everyone's role works well with this song.

The word "Tear" is interesting.

"Tear" in English.

You can shed tears and tear paper.

The word symbolizes what a breakup

means to each. It was tears for me, tearing apart for Yoongi.

For Hoseok, it was fear of talking about after breaking up.

For Hoseok, it was fear.

Tear, tear and fear. These are three themes of

this song.

That's how this album ends.

It feels like quite long ago.

I wanted to do well about this album, personally.

I wanted to participate a lot

and wanted to lead actively. I started making songs first.

As I finished making first, my part is usually in the verse 1.

We're now making songs for the next album and I'm asking Hoseok and Yoongi

to make the part for verse 1.

All right.

When I listen to this album... How can I say?

When I heard this album, I said this during an interview.

I thought songs were closely connected together.

Sometimes, when I hear a new album,

sometimes it feels like a compilation of unrelated songs.

It means that songs were not made for a big picture of this album.

There are many albums of which songs have different colors.

But our album has songs of unique and different mood

and the entire album focuses on a single target.

All the songs are connected well.

Anyways, when we look back on later,

I think this would be remembered as a good album.

That's what I thought.

I wanted to do this during the album review.

I selected the best part of each member.

My best favorite part of each member.

Let me start with Jin. "The Truth Untold".

"The Truth Untold".

Because of Steve Aoki, I guess fans

may have expected a fast and exciting song. But it is not.

Steve Aoki can make such a ballad song.

Jin is good at evoking sentiments of Korean style songs.

I realized Jin is good at singing

of such songs.

As the song title in Korean has "Jin" in it,

I wonder that's why Jin did well.

Jin always makes all-out efforts.

I was grateful when I heard this song.

It showed new aspects of Jin's vocal.

I want to pick Jin as the best singer of "The Untold Truth".

Next, Suga.

I believe everyone knows Suga's best part.

It's "Airplane pt2". "Airplane pt2".

In "Airplane pt2,"

starting from this...

It's so cool. Very cool.

"You guys are the ones who got the media advantage,"

"You're the ones who are better at playing the celebrity".

This part has lyrics that is just like Suga himself.

It was so cool when I heard it.

"You're the ones who are better at playing the celebrity". That's what I wanted to say.

This part felt so nice and I felt grateful for him.

My second best part for Suga is "Outro : Tear".

This part in "Tear" is catchy.

This part. And the playing the celeb part.

Suga is the best one for this.

And Hope.

"Anpanman" is a tricky one

but Hope's part was...

Actually, it's not made by Hope. Among the parts that he made,

I want to pick this.

He wrote lyrics so well.

Hope's unique melody rap and lyrics.

The lyrics are not hard to understand but pretty.

"Like a rose when blooming Like a cherry blossom when scattering".

"Like a lily when withering Like those beautiful moments".

This is the best part of this song.

It makes my heart start melting.

"Magic Shop," which is cool.

For Jimin, I'd choose "Fake Love".

I think Jimin saved this vocal part of "Fake Love".

His unique desperate high notes

made the edge of this song.

If I have to choose the best contributor of "Fake Love,"

I'd say it's Jimin.

Jungkook's vocal and performance did a great job, too.

But when I hear this song,

Jimin intentionally pronounces "Fake Love"

and sing high notes while performing.

It reminds me of Jimin's sad sentiments.

The three elements worked well for this part.

So I think Jimin's best part is "Fake Love".

For Taehyung. It's "Singularity" as I said before.

Taehyung shows various colors.

For example, "Boy in Luv". He did a great job in growling.

He does do that well sometimes.

As we have members with high-pitched voice,

Taehyung is the one who is good at low-tone parts.

Taehyung shows greatly improved

expression in "Singularity".

Taehyung likes music and he listens to many songs.

I think he listens to more songs than me.

Jungkook and Taehyung listen to so many songs.

The entire song of "Singularity" shows maximized taste of

Taehyung's vocal.

So I want to pick "Singularity" for Taehyung.

He did a great job to highlight the lyrics and melody.

When we recorded this song, Taehyung said

this song was too difficult.

Sure, it's a difficult song to express.

Some might say this song has no substance.

So Taehyung wanted to change some parts into English.

I objected that it would reduce its own charm.

I persuaded him that he should sing in Korean.

We changed the lyrics into English and recorded it

but the Korean version was released. Taehyung agreed with that.

Anyways, I think "Singularity" is one of the perfect song.

All right. For Jungkook.

It's "Magic Shop".

Jungkook is...

Oh, it's not his voice.

Jungkook has this unique, soft and sweet voice

and everybody likes his voice, I guess.

But personally, as a listener, I wanted him to improve the sentimental area.

He learned how to express his feelings while singing at some point.

His voice is so attractive

but I thought there's a room for improvement in expression.

From some time ago, he is good at expressing

his emotions and feelings, whether it's a sad or exciting song.

I am so proud of our vocalists. They grew up a lot

and reached a point now.

For Jungkook, I'd choose "Days when you hate that you're you".

I want to choose so many parts for him

but this is the best one.

It impresses me when I hear it.

He did a great job for "Marathon" of "Paradise".

All right.

It's coming to an end.

I'd like to talk about the Billboard.

I'll answer 5 questions and quit this broadcast.

When we performed at the BBMA,

we met a lot of celebrities.

Taylor Swift, John Legend, Pharrell Williams, Lil Pump...

We saw 21 Savage sitting behind us.

Also, Kelly Clarkson who introduced us, The Chainsmokers, and Ariana Grande.

Dua Lipa, too.

Who else? We said hi to DJ Khalid.

Especially, I was a loyal fan of Pharrell.

My hands started trembling when I met him.

Because I like him so much.

When I produced my own mixed tapes, I covered his songs.

I thought he's the hottest guy in the world.

His voice is crazy.

Pharrell is so amazing. He's the most memorable celebrity.

Wherever we go, as we said in most interviews,

many interviewers ask about A.R.M.Y before talking about our music.

Many music industry insiders pay attention to our songs and performances

but we won't forget you are the one who achieved everything.

It was an award ceremony that we didn't forget that.

This was the 3rd time. At the first time, I was so tired.

I brought members together

and complained to them.

As I had to think too much, it gave pressure

and I suffered from headache

when we attended at the first Billboard awards.

"I guess it may not be easy to you, but it's hard for me because it's not my mother language".

"Please help me. Show some reactions and smile behind me".

"I hope you cheer me up".

"If you keep quiet behind me, it's hard for me to go on".

Looking back, other members were not proficient in English,

so they had to wait and see.

It must have been hard for them, too.

Before we attend award ceremonies, I always learn useful expressions from

our translator John and practice how to say.

This time, members got used to saying in English

and they helped me a lot.

They showed reactions a lot and said things in broken English.

It's much easier for me to promote our songs.

I wished that members could promote our songs together with me.

It wouldn't be fun if I say everything.

It's boring if the same one repeatedly talks about albums.

But you know, when we need to speed up,

I have to say more.

Anyways, I talked about it with members and we reached a consensus.

That's the change that happened for this billboard ceremony.

I was so happy at the ceremony.

I'm so thankful for our good records...

But we won't enjoy it too much.

It's necessary to enjoy it, enjoy it and be happy for today.

But from tomorrow, we need to start working

on the next album, as we do now.

All right. As I said before,

I hope to include songs that weren't included in this album.

If I may talk about this,

some are worried about "Euphoria".

Don't worry about "Euphoria".

All right.

I almost pressed the stop button. Let me answer your questions.

I'll answer your questions and quit this.

Chatting...

A little attention, a little care.

That's enough!

Εvery time you believe that its others fault.

You cant understand that its pointless to find out who is to blame, it will not make you a better person, look for a way to fix things around you without disowning your responsibilities.

So much afraid of the unfamiliar one. You fear the idea of change and you are comfortable with something moderate.

Pity..

I kept on you in a different way, you were a person determined and ready at all times to accept the consequences of your actions with your head up..

I was happy for you, you had witty eyes and a stunning look, and they came down indolently.. You have fallen into lethargy .. Wake up!

You have fallen into lethargy .. Wake up!

You had the pleasure of creating, running, shouting as much as you could, even in the period without work, you were with the smile and the confidence that everything would be better.

Now .. now you are afraid, you are even afraid of the thought that there is hope, το stir up your irritating calm waters.

Carmel Majidi: Self-Healing Electrical Material - Duration: 3:19.

I'm very excited to tell you about this self-healing material that my group has developed.

This has been reported recently in the journal Nature Materials.

And what we've shown is a soft, stretchable, electrically-conductive material that has

this extraordinary ability to repair its electrical functionality when it's been mechanically

damaged.

So, when you, say, cut regular wiring or you puncture it or you fracture it, you immediately

lose that electrical functionality.

In contrast, our material has this ability to maintain its electrical functionality even

when it's been mechanically damaged.

Instantaneously, what the material does is create new electrical pathways around that

damaged area.

So, none of the digital circuit functionality is disrupted during operation.

And this could have important applications in areas like wearable computing, where you

want circuits that you can incorporate into textiles or place on your skin.

And just like natural skin, if you get bruised or cut, your skin is able to repair itself.

Our material also has this property that it can instantaneously restore that electrical

functionality so that you don't lose the ability to continue operating that wearable computing device.

Same goes for next generation soft machines and soft robotics systems.

Just like a natural organism, if it gets harmed or damaged, it has the ability to repair itself

and move to an area of safety, so it has greater time to recover.

For this study we used a Cricut, which is a commercial pen-plotter.

We've replaced the cutter on the Cricut with a mechanical scribe that will go and create

these electrically conductive pathways into our soft material.

It's really important within this field that we're able to match the same types of electronic

properties and functionality that we get with more conventional wiring.

Electrical wiring for computing, personal electronics, data transmission, building wiring,

those applications aren't going away.

So it is very important that we engineer these next generation soft, conductive materials,

so they still have this electrical performance.

In the work that we've done, it was very important that we demonstrate the ability to operate,

say, a digital clock that can remain functional using this soft, conductive material.

We can also show that in contrast to conventional circuit wiring, that this clock circuit remains

functional, even as we start tearing, cutting, removing this material.

Carnegie Mellon is the place where we push scientific boundaries in robotics, human-machine

interaction, and materials research, so it's really important that we're able to make breakthroughs

at this intersection so that we can accelerate progress that has transformative impact on

society.

Self-awareness is key to self-sufficiency at this job training program - Duration: 7:53.

JUDY WOODRUFF: If you are poor in America, you likely know it's a condition that can

create a cycle of struggle that lasts generations.

As John Yang reports, to break that trend, it is not just a matter of finding a good

job, but also keeping it.

And new challenges can arise by having a steady paycheck.

This story is part of our Chasing the Dream series on poverty and opportunity.

JOHN YANG: At a job training and coaching program in Chicago called Cara, every morning

begins with something called Motivations.

Their goal?

To ring that bell, a signal that they have gotten a job.

Last October, Mariel Corona first sought help at Cara, which means friend in Gaelic.

At first, she didn't think it was a good fit.

MARIEL CORONA, Cara Participant: I was kind of sitting there and thinking, what the hell

is going on?

Why are people clapping?

Why are people thinking?

What does this have to do with job search?

What does this have to do a professional development?

JOHN YANG: Now that you have been through it, What does it have to do with job placement

or professional development?

MARIEL CORONA: Everything.

It was -- transformations is what we go through the first four weeks of the Cara program.

And it basically all begins with the motivations.

It's pretty much working yourself from the inside out.

That has had such a positive impact on my family.

My life took on a new beginning.

JOHN YANG: For most of the people at Cara, getting a job can be a new beginning.

Unlike Corona, many have battled addictions or been in prison.

Despite their differences, she found a common struggle.

MARIEL CORONA: We're all in the same boat as far as fixing yourself up and repairing

yourself from the inside out, that we have all had -- life throws a curveball to all

of us, and maybe we didn't know how to cope or how to deal with it or just didn't want

to overcome it.

JOHN YANG: In her former job as a university administrator, Corona began going to work

late and missing days altogether as she dealt with a family issue.

She ended up getting fired, filling her with self-doubt.

MARIEL CORONA: When I was terminated, that was just like a punch in the gut.

I just felt like a failure.

I had never been terminated from any position before.

I was pretty much a rock star in my jobs.

JOHN YANG: And I imagine that that can't be a very good place to be looking a job.

If you're not feeling good about yourself, you can't make a prospective employer feel

good about you.

MARIEL CORONA: Exactly.

You can't sell yourself, you know, because you're just selling a bunch of lies.

You know, you're saying, oh, I'm very confident, I'm outgoing.

And, no, you're not.

You know, it's just -- it's just on the surface.

JOHN YANG: Now she's had three job interviews.

On this day, she prepared for another one with a coach.

She's regained her confidence and refreshed skills like resume building and time management.

Most in the program are looking for their first permanent job.

For them, Cara specializes in finding transitional jobs, entry-level positions to give them not

only specific skills and work experience and a paycheck, but also the personal attributes

they will need to hold a long-term job, what are called soft skills, like time management

and handling conflicts with co-workers.

There are similar programs in 25 other states.

It's an idea that goes back to the Great Depression, when the New Deal Works Progress Administration,

known as the WPA, hired the unemployed to build the country's infrastructure.

Shovel-ready was the term President Obama used during the recession that began in 2008,

infrastructure projects ready to go.

Now it's seen as part of the solution to helping people facing the biggest hurdles to landing

a job, a criminal background or a spotty employment record.

Cara helps with both.

The idea is, if a person can hold down a job for one year, they can find a job elsewhere.

Their success rate?

About 70 percent.

The organization says that's higher than retention rates nationally.

Maria Kim is the president and CEO of Cara.

What's the bigger challenge, getting the job or holding the job for a year?

MARIA KIM, President and CEO, Cara: You know, I really think it's keeping the job over the

long term.

Our focus in that first year of employment is combating all of the challenges that might

come in the way, a housing situation going awry, child care going awry.

Might -- the negative actors in your life might emerge in a new way and tempt you again.

You know we really need to be able to combat those new challenges.

JOHN YANG: And so you take a very broad view of preparing someone for a job.

MARIA KIM: We think of skills like love and forgiveness and conflict resolution as actually

the harder skills.

Others might think, oh, these things that you're talking about, time management, your

self-esteem, all that stuff, those are the soft skills.

We think of them as the harder skills, because if we can navigate those, than the rest of

things become a little bit easier.

JOHN YANG: How common is this sort of holistic approach?

MARIA KIM: You know, we could always use more.

Right?

There are 600,000 people living below the poverty line in the greater Chicagoland area,

just to give you a sense of the need here.

But where the money is coming from for us is from private investors, private philanthropy,

but also our own social enterprises.

So, we own and operate our own for-profit businesses that help not just generate revenue,

but create jobs for our folks as well.

JOHN YANG: Those business, a street cleaning service and a temp staffing agency, are the

first destination for many of the people who go to Cara.

They also generate about 42 percent of the organization's budget.

Emmett Hasey lives in a modest studio apartment with his wife of five months.

They met at a Christian recovery mission.

He spent more than a third of his 58 years in prison.

He's overcome drug and alcohol addiction and has been clean and sober since 2010.

EMMETT HASEY, Cara Participant: I know that I didn't have to do things wrong to achieve

the things that I want to achieve in life.

And what I want to achieve in life is three things, food, clothes, and shelter.

That's all I want, food, clothes, and shelter.

Now, if I can get that, I'm happy.

I'm happy with that.

JOHN YANG: He has all three, and found love on top of it.

EMMETT HASEY: When I go to work, I just love just to look up in the clouds and look at

the scenery.

There's a lot of beautiful things if you keep your head up in the sky.

JOHN YANG: Hasey works for one of Cara's biggest partners, the Chicago Transit Authority's

Second Chance Program.

People with troubled pasts work a year cleaning buses and trains.

Since 2011, about 250 participants have been hired by the CTA into full-time jobs such

as train and bus operators.

Some have even risen into management.

EMMETT HASEY: What I gained from Cara is the opportunity.

The opportunity changed my life.

But you have to be able to prepare yourself, and you have to be able to be available to

do the things that you need to be doing.

They're an opportunity, but then you got to do the full work.

If I keep just doing what I'm doing, in the end, something positive is going to come.

JOHN YANG: It's hope for many people like Hasey who are trying to get back on their

feet.

Combined with good wages and social safety nets, transitional jobs like these are seen

as keys to helping people get out of poverty and ring that bell of success.

For the "PBS NewsHour," I'm John Yang in Chicago.

"Her self esteem has increased... her academics have increased" - Duration: 1:58.

- Basically, my seven year old was strugglin' in school,

and we had struggled from the time we entered school,

and had tried everything.

We'd been to psychologists, on anxiety medicine,

a lot of different things goin' on with her,

and so finally one night,

really late on Facebook,

an article popped up on vision therapy,

and I was like, hey, what is this?

As I read it, I was like this is my child.

So, I called my regular eye doctor,

and he got me in touch with Dr. Megan,

and we came and it has been an eye opening experience.

I'm an educator myself,

so to come in here and see

how children have been being diagnosed

with things like ADHD and anxiety,

it's probably not that or couldn't be that,

maybe not that.

It could be a vision problem has been real eye opening.

My Maddy, has spent 12 weeks in therapy,

and she has seen a lot of great success.

She was skippin' lines when reading

and I didn't even know that

until after we got started in therapy,

and she was like, hey mom, guess what?

I don't skip likes anymore,

and I was like, I didn't know you were skippin' lines

because I can't see through her eyes.

I can remember the day we came in,

the very first day and Dr. Megan

said you may not need anxiety medication after this,

and luckily we're a little past 12 weeks

and we are no longer on anxiety medication.

Her self esteem has increased, her academics have increased.

We still got a long way to go,

cause there's other things we need to work on,

but as a mom, first I would tell you to not always

just take the first person's point of view

as to what may be goin' on with your child,

whether it's your teacher or their principal,

or even your friends, you know,

dig a little deeper and get to the bottom of it

because it has definitely, definitely been worth it.

Inside the Textbooks of Michael Dupree - CubeSmart Self Storage - Duration: 2:28.

"Back when I was a kid, Yonkers Public Schools desegregated.

Basically, bringing kids from

the other side of town to my privileged school.

And I think back to those days where they came from a spot that had old books and we

had new books.

And here they are coming into our school and excited about seeing a new book where, you

know, we took it for granted.

I think it's something that definitely could have motivated me to go into a career selling

textbooks, but realistically it was probably just dumb luck.

In the city of Philadelphia, students didn't have new textbooks anywhere from seven to

twelve years.

In April of 2016, they decided that

they needed new student textbooks.

Prior to the actual sale in Philadelphia, we shipped in 44,000 books to do presentations

to 14 different locations around the city.

As a textbook sales rep, you're normally storing books at home, whether it's a closet

or a shelf, or in your garage, but for an opportunity like this, it was much larger,

and we knew we were gonna have to go to scale quickly.

So I went out and got one storage unit, and I told my colleagues, "yeah I got a storage

unit" and they said, "oh, you're going to need a lot more than that."

The cigarette tax in Philadelphia benefited the students because moneys from that cigarette

tax went to the purchase of these new textbooks.

I was going to CubeSmart on a daily basis.

We were getting shipments of textbooks,

trucks coming in, dropping off pallets of books.

We had to then manage those books to get them out to the schools during our white glove

delivery service.

Having new books is important to kids, it gives you a better sense of the reason you're

in school to actually learn, as opposed to just taking up time.

Seeing the smiles on students' faces and hearing them say thank you to me makes my

long hours totally worth it…

"Thank you Mr. Dupree"…

"You guys are welcome"…

A year later, math and reading test scores rose, and I'd like to think that's a direct

benefit of the textbooks we put in their hands.

The ripple effect that I see is students being happy, teachers being able to teach with a

new curriculum, administrators being happy over their test scores rising.

I love that my job has a positive impact on all these things."
