VR Design Major at Shenandoah University - Duration: 5:29.
we are committed to being part of what the future holds to helping bring that
future alive and so that means we are innovative we are creative we are
helping our students prepare not for the jobs that are available now but the jobs
that will be available when they graduate and will be available 20 30 40
years from now we are on the brink of the next big tech boom and it's going to
be fueled by these new virtual reality and augmented reality technologies the
new frontier isn't on the other side of the country and it's not on the other
side of the planet the next frontier has the ability to live in every living room
across the United States this is sort of the wormhole to the future and these
screens and these computers but they in themselves are nothing if you can't
create for it and communicate through it and that's what we're going to do to be
the first institution in Virginia with majors in virtual reality and augmented
reality we are announcing three of the first majors in virtual reality in the
state of Virginia and also the country we're also announcing Shenandoah
University's relationship with immersive VR education a publicly traded company
out of London and Ireland where we'll be building a virtual platform and we are
very excited to announce a partnership with Shenandoah University as Shenandoah
specializes in live role-playing training which is a perfect match for
our Engage program we're also announcing the the launch of a
technology corridor and virtual reality here in Shenandoah Valley and the
economic drivers that are going to come from that so we are working to position
Shenandoah University and the Winchester region as a virtual reality design hub
as diverse as the film industry is or the theater industry is you have
from designers to directors to writers and producers this new field is going to
have that same diversity of job opportunities so we have degrees that
are built off of a theater degree one that's built off a theater degree that
really focuses on digital stages and simulation and training one degree
that's built off of a filmmaking degree that is more about production and then
one degree that's built off of a computer science degree that is about
programming so each of those skill sets represents different career
opportunities and different personalities for the students that are
drawn to this field this is on the edge this is like the next thing after the
movies after 3d like you know all that this is this is the next entertainment
industry and I want to be here when it starts to see it so close to home it
gives me a feeling that it's going to be huge in the near future just like how
video platforms when it came to going on to the internet became very popular in
the 2010s up to now right now it's it's starting to turn towards AR and VR and
to see that we are getting ahead of the curve is huge I am a conservatory student I'm
a musical theater major I can directly apply what I'm learning about lighting
design and set design and how to draw your audience member in directly into
programming within Unity or a 360 video it's a push towards the future and I
think it's a big step for Shenandoah I think it's a big step for universities
across the globe quite literally it's a it's our future and it's time that we
start looking at our future as the reality of today and I think that that's
what we're doing and I think it's it's powerful so while we are excited to
invite students to participate in these new degrees we're also excited to invite
corporations and entities to come join our students for us to innovate together
for us to define this new marketplace and to build this brand new culture the
opportunities for this are going to change the way we
work play and educate ourselves it's very exciting era that we're moving into
here at Shenandoah we're focusing on the human to human experience inside of
virtual reality and we're innovating utilizing real human beings inside of
avatars so going forward in the future we no longer have limitations such as
distance or even the laws of physics we can create any virtual environment for
training purposes that we want and join people from anywhere around the world by
embodying full-body avatars and having an experience the students who graduate
from this VR/AR program are going to be hot commodity t hey're going to be in
high demand for major industry partners whether it be in the educational realm
the immersive realm whether it be in the arts and entertainment or training
realms but I also imagine a good number of them are going to want do their own
startup businesses since they will have both the skills and the business know how
to launch a company it's going to start becoming everyone's reality so I think
we need to take initiative and start really accepting it and and not putting
so much of a distance between us and the technology it's here it's now and and
it's exciting

Nursing (Learning Disability) BSc(Hons) at the University of Huddersfield - Duration: 2:27.
it is a 50/50 cause because we have
the practical side of it,
that is students going out on placement
and we have them come back here, the theoretical aspect of it.
as they progress in the course they then go to the field specific modules
which emphasises on their speciality.
The most impressive thing about the course
at the University of Huddersfield was the
experience that the lecturers brought in.
we were acutely aware that the lecturers
that we had had careers before becoming lecturers
and could apply their real-world experience
and knowledge alongside that of the most recent
and relevant research.
We're such a tight-knit group
and it's a pleasure to come to university.
I've got more support from tutors
and I think that I've been able to achieve better grades
because of that support.
I love my role as a lecturer practitioner here at the
University I think I bring something really valuable
to the course because I'm out in practice
now I can bring up-to-date and
straight from practice experience to the students
which I think that they really really value.
And also service users as well
there's quite a strong commitment to service users
getting involved in in the development and the teaching
of the course which was very important.
We get practice partners involved
in the design of our modules
and we are saying how do we train professionals
who are able to fit out there,
because we want them to be fit for purpose.
Our students are offered more than one job,
so our students do have the luxury
of being able to pick and choose
the roles that they want.
And peoples career trajectories are impressive,
you know, we've got nurses who are going out and
starting at band 5 and very quickly progressing
through to either management levels
or senior clinician roles
You're only limited by your imagination.
Academically it pushes you, which is awesome .
It's exceeded my expectations definitely.
If somebody's not sure whether they want to
come and do Learning Disability Nursing
and they're thinking about it I would say
come in and talk to us because
we really like talking to people about
learning disability nursing and we'd
really like to talk to you about it
and help you make up your mind
whether this is the right career for you.

How to import data from URL to SAS University Edition? - Duration: 3:01.
Hello, I'm Johanna Aalto and in this video I'm going to show you how to import data from URL to SAS University Edition.
If you need to, watch my other video of How to Download, install and configure the SAS.
In that video, there are also instructions how to open the program.
In this video I assume, you have opened your SAS.
Let's start!
When you open SAS, this view will appear.
You can find the code tab, log and results.
On the left you can see folders.
And down here tasks and some other stuff.
Let's click the code tab and start write.
How to read data from URL?
First, I will write that we have data called "a".
It's not a very good name. It's better to use more describing name.
Infile command tells, that we are going to import some data.
Inside the quotation marks, we write the link.
After link we must tell, that it's an URL address.
Write the semicolon after every sentence.
Let's see how our example data looks like.
It's a simple page with numerical values.
We also have another page, where we can find the variab
Let's copy the value labels.
With input command I can add the value labels.
Then I just paste the names, I just copied.
Then I write "run".
We can run the program by clicking the icon with running person.
Now we have a new tab, called Output data.
The program itself was in the Code tab.
On the Log tab, we can see possible errors and warnings.
The Result tab is empty so far.
In Output data we can see how many rows and columns there are.
You can select all, or just some of the columns.
How to print rows to make sure we have data?
We saw the output data already, but I'm going to show you how the print command works.
Print 20 rows.
Run the program,
and we can see 20 rows of observations.
Thank you for watching. More videos coming.
