Auto news on Youtube Oct 2 2018

Hello. Thank you very much for joining us

today. My name is Stephanie Hellmold. I'm

the vice president of corporate strategy at

Western Digital. I'm joined here today by

Martin Fink, Western Digital's chief

technology officer. We're here today to

talk about the RISC-V ecosystem.

Martin, considering that RISC-V is

something completely new that is

evolving, how much of a rRISC-V

ecosystem already exists? So you know

there's a couple of answers that

question, because part of the answer is

that for how young the RISC-V

ecosystem is, the current state of the

ecosystem is quite impressive, but at the

same time it is young and it means that

the ecosystem is not complete. It doesn't

have everything and you know, there's

still a lot of work to do. I think at

least us at Western Digital, we've got a

eyes wide open, we were very realistic in

the state of the ecosystem and we

take that as part of the challenge and

part of the opportunity in defining that

ecosystem. And so ecosystem in this case

it means everything from having

intellectual property blocks that are

available from a variety of vendors that

can be glued together to create new

ASICS or new chips that the industry

can us. It can mean the software

ecosystem and applications that are

available, or operating systems that are

available. In other cases it's also the

foundry world and how chips get

manufactured, and so there's just plenty

of work to get done, but the way I think

about it is I think back to my early

Linux days. In the early days of Linux I

had all of these same arguments right,

that it's not as good as Unix, it doesn't

have the same ecosystem, not all the

softwares there, there's lots of work to

get done, and so on and so forth.

But i think today we all agree that

Linux is pretty much dominating the

IT industry. Here to me though is the

opportunity that's really available to

us, which is when we think about the

applications of the future, we've already

seen a variety of companies out there

who have said it doesn't meet my needs, so

I'm gonna create custom stuff.

So the opportunity with RISC-V is to

not be shackled by the legacy. Not be

held back by how bus structures were

created, and how I/O happened, and how

memory connections were done. All of

those things are things that were

invented decades ago, and RISC-V is now

the opportunity to say how do I reinvent

all of this to solve the next generation

of problems? You know things we keep

hearing about. Machine learning and

artificial intelligence and AI and all

of those kinds of applications, and so

that's what the opportunity is. So for

those who who say hey I need something

that is just all ticked and tied and

working and it's a square box and I

don't have to do anything I just use it

as is, this is probably not the right

time for them to join the RISC-V

ecosystem. But for those who say I want

to be part of defining and venting and

creating where the world's going to be

and how the next generation of

applications are going to be optimized,

this is the time to be involved, and the

fact that the ecosystem is young and

still formulating itself, is an exciting

time to help participate in defining how

the future is going to grow and all of

the different pieces of the puzzle are

going to come together, and so that's why

we're so excited about this and we're

investing in that ecosystem. We're

participating, we're making contributions,

but we can't do it alone. So we need

everybody out there to come and do it

with us. When you think about the

priorities in shaping the ecosystem and

achieving a mass deployment at a larger

scale, what is it that the industry can

do and what is it that Western Digital

can do and set out to do in order

to help the ecosystem grow and help the

proliferation of RISC-V? So probably

if I think in in today's terms, the

thing I would like to see that most of

is just more actual silicon. I think that

we're getting an impressive number of

companies who have joined the RISC-V

ecosystem. I think we're at a place where

a lot of people are committing design

wins.

We're in that development phase, but the

thing I would like to see the most right

now is just more silicon. Just more

silicon in every aspect from low-end

embedded type of silicon, all the way

through to high-end datacenter class

silicon. So that to me are the the big

items that we should be working on right

now is just encouraging us to get just

more silicon into the marketplace and

getting people having the confidence

that that ecosystem is growing and

developing. I wanted to ask you how from

a global perspective do you think should

we think of the top priorities of what

can be done to help the ecosystem, as

well as from a Western Digital

perspective, how can we help proliferate

RISC-V as a solution through a improved

ecosystem? Well so we basically have to

think about the the various milestones

to success, right, so if you tried to

paint a picture of where's that final

success boundary, it would be when we have

all of the pieces of the puzzle

available so that any application that

somebody thinks of, they have a new

creative thing they want to go solve in

the machine learning world, that they can

go grab all of the pieces of the jigsaw

puzzle, they're all available to them, but

here, and here's a very important part,

they can add their own piece to the

jigsaw puzzle. They can create their own

new innovation and they know it can all

connect together. You can't do that

with the old world, very difficult to do.

So when we have all of the necessary

pieces out there, operating systems, USB,

DDR, all of those things and then all I

need to do is add my secret sauce and I

can create that next generation of

application, then we know we've sort of

reached that piece of success

and reach that future. And that's what

gets me very excited about all

of the various contributions that we can

make. And so I encourage people to take

what they're good at, and bring those

contributions to the ecosystem. Thank you,

and how would you in your perspectives

describe when we can declare success for

the RISC-V ecosystem to reach a

critical milestone? So that's a little

bit of that success thing I was talking

about, which is you know, when I

can create those applications and I can

invent the new set of applications, and

all the pieces are there and they're

ready for me to just use, and all I have

to do is focus on my little secret sauce,

and people aren't asking the question of

is it ready, or is that piece there, or

when the mindset shifts from asking the

question is it ready, to that's the

obvious thing to go do. When that mindset

shifts, that's when you know you've

achieved success. Thank you that's very

helpful. The opportunity is certainly

tremendous and looking at what RISC-V

has to offer to solve our future

workload problems, I think it's certainly

worthwhile the effort.

The 1 Bitcoin Show- Be a savings pioneer! New Zealand digital strip search, MimbleWimble, ICO stats - Duration: 18:56.

Hello everyone this is adam meister the bitcoinmeister the disrupt meister

welcome to the one bitcoin show today is October the 1st 2018 strong hand

offended by selling personal responsibility is the new counterculture

Bitcoin this game is not rigged uncomplicated Bowl again check out the

links below everything I talk about in this video is linked to below disrupt

meister calm you see all my old videos including the yesterday show checked out

of course but this week in bitcoin on friday was a really fun time with JW

weatherman are jin balaji and alex Adelman of lolli JW talked about his

school his teaching i linked to some of you can get a discount if you take his

classes if he mentioned adam meister he is linked to below next this coming

friday by the way this week a bitcoin i don't know what time will be on it yet i

know two of the guests must stop Marad Marad who's been on the show before who

i'll talk about later in this show and zack ball who's been onto this weekend

big want to show a few times will be on friday so stayed i'm giving you a

preview 5 days in advance it's only monday here so again let's let's start

out by talking about how big coin it can protect you against false accusations

now of course the pence rule is the the best rule you know people laughed at

that you know you don't want to be alone with a woman in an office in any

environment because you an accusation can be made about about you and Mike

apparently he's the vice president United States for those of you don't

know not that you should know but um he doesn't you know he's a married man and

he's never alone with another woman because he doesn't you know rumors the

start he doesn't want anyone to try to blackmail him and it's been quite

successful for him well not everyone can do that I mean that's that's a very hard

thing to do like you know rejecting being in rooms alone with women it's

hard when you're in a corporation you can't do that

so what I would advise for people who can't

well I advise this for everyone Bitcoin protects you against those false

accusations because once you get those false accusations and if you're

successful in life and you're in the corporate or political world there's a

high likelihood you're going to get some false accusations because right now and

in the environment we're living in these modern times false accusations are

rewarded there's no there's no penalty for lying I mean why not just lie why

not just lie and create false I mean if you're an immoral person which it seems

like most people are again I hope you're a moral person be it a male or a female

you don't make up lies about people but in this day and age it seems like people

it there's been a pattern people have been successful with false accusations

they make money they get settlements so why not make up more false accusations

against a successful people so with Bitcoin they can't take that from you

okay someone makes up some lie about you they want a settlement you're like yeah

go to the heck okay you can't take anything from me because I have nothing

I just have this big well or will will track you down you can't live in this

country anymore okay I'll go live in another country and you just take your

Bitcoin with you so again yeah Bitcoin if I but I'm trying to relate related to

the modern times here it does protect you against false accusations and you

can start a whole new life so I again I have most of my wealth in Bitcoin I mean

I don't want a house anymore I don't know any what I own it's an asset that

that's just Bitcoin really so yeah people can make false accusations that

but again if you work for yourself too that that gives you an advantage also

that but again most of you work in the

corporate world most of you work in an environment where you have to worry

about your reputation and someone can blackmail you and you're a bad sister so

get in the Bitcoin protect yourselves all right offended by selling yes I am

found that freaking like fun so here is a medium article it gets a little

complex here I love this article though ok it it is called Bitcoin market value

to realize value ratio introducing realized cap to Bitcoin market cap

psychoanalysis from this calculation from this calculation to historic

thresholds emerge three point seven which denotes over valuation and one

which denotes undervaluation so what do you do is you take the Bitcoin market

cap and you divide it by the Bitcoin realized value okay now we talked up

about this on a previous show and if that ratio is above three point seven

that means Bitcoin is oh it's not a time to buy Bitcoin but if it is around one

well I think it's always a good time to buy Bitcoin I am just relaying the

thesis that is in this article the theory whatever you want to call it by

mu rad who will be on the show to discuss this

further on Friday but again chef read this article that's very interesting for

those of you who asked the question when should I buy and it was does mark a cat

mean anything and what does this realize this realized value that Nick Carter

came up with that I love I think is a great way of valuing big clinic he come

if Mariah combines what I thought the market cap which I find to be somewhat

somewhat useless and was something that I find quite useful and he makes a ratio

out of it and again three point seven it's too high one it's good it's time

it's undervalued of one so check that out it's linked to you'll understand

more if you actually check out the link and again a lot of you ask me when

should I buy when should I buy is it well if you want I think it's always a

great time to buy because again you value your wealth in Bitcoin you get as

many Bitcoin as possible as you want as many Bitcoin in the future but here you

go if you this this is a an interesting

analysis of when to buy and what these you know what market cap really is in

relation to something that I think is it a better a better measurement of Bitcoin

alright a better metric so out of New Zealand I think some of you have have

hold have heard this story about how it's it's it's probably not a good you

know I always say I don't understand how people keep Bitcoin on their phones I

think it's crazy and here even a small amount in this story you might you might

regret it so I visited New Zealand before I I went through their customs

and when they were really paranoid about was bringing food I mean you will get

fun if you bring in food there was this in I Linda they don't want invasive

species that come in and kill all their animals okay okay

that's fine and now now here you go go through this scenario in your head let's

say you did bring in an apple and they're like hahaha well now we have

reason to search everything we won't find you for the Apple but we want to

see everything on your phone well now so the rules you know that's probable cause

right there if you had an apple so I mean they can make up any story first of

all but here we go uh nowadays we have everything on iPhone we've got all our

personal life all our doctor's records our emails absolutely everything on it

and customs can take that and keep it in New Zealand we're talking about it's the

digital strip search even officially the Customs and Excise act of 2018 which

comes into effect today October 1st sets guidelines around how customs can carry

out digital strip searches previously customs could not stop could stop anyone

at the order a demand to see their electronic

devices however the law did not specify that people had to also provide a

password the updated law makes clear that travelers must provide access where

their that be a password ping code or fingerprint but officials would need to

have a reasonable suspicious of suspicions a suspicion of wrongdoing

whatever you have a theory to Apple you're a criminal okay they can make up

any reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing so you don't want to get again there the

article is a very interesting one busy they never they never mention Bitcoin in

this article again this article is not about Bitcoin all I'm just telling you

if you go to New Zealand and you're not like a hundred percent angel which is

like none of us are and you have Bitcoin on your phone and they find it they are

gonna think you're a criminal obviously the article alluded to like

drug dealers in just new ways of criminals to sneak in I don't know what

terminology they used but things the government wouldn't appreciate it so uh

hey again if you're gonna bring your big coin with you in the New Zealand

I mean hey I don't think they're down with the treasure yet that that's uh but

I mean I'm not gonna give advice on bringing in in Bitcoin into New Zealand

you might want to just memorize your I mean if you if you're moving there I

mean if you're just visiting you don't need to have your Bitcoin with you first

of all like when I when I go back to New Zealand I'm bringing no treasure or

anything with me okay um but let's say you're you had to move to New Zealand's

just uh you know your recovery seed get a write down your recovery seed in a lot

of different places that split up or just memorize a couple the words and

write down a few of the words do some combo and then you know buy a new

storage device when you're in New Zealand that's that's not hard to do

it's a modern country okay enough about New Zealand and and all this my main

point of sharing story was for the people

keep it keep large amounts of Bitcoin on their phones yeah be careful when

entering New Zealand and and who knows what again I'm not saying the New

Zealand government is doing this because of Bitcoin but how but if one of those

agents doesn't know about it that stops you for your Apple all right here he

goes this is a tweet from a crypto man ran let me read it first to be a pioneer

means taking serious risks abandoning safe trusted careers and models entering

a dimension where no one has been to take risk and usually to fail it's risky

you give up comfort security and time do this today in the USA chances are the

SEC will come for you okay so this South African ran is talking about the United

States cracking down on SEC on I CEOs and we all know ran is a big fan of the

I CEOs whoa but I disagree with him strongly on what he said here you can be

a pioneer in the new savings paradigm by switching your savings to Bitcoin like I

have okay that is risky it is risky compared to what people have done in the

past I mean just keeping it in your bank account I mean with all the pressure out

there oh you're the big point you're kidding you're not that versified into

cash in stocks and bonds and this and that and the other it is risky compared

to what the majority is doing so you know ran saying that there are no

pioneers that the United States is it can't be filled with pioneers that the

United States doesn't it is not letting people take risk anymore and just for

some people in the comfort zones I again I disagree weird this is a we're savings

pioneers here we're we're on the cutting Emmy it sounds boring to people you know

he's obviously got a lot of different risk tolerance if he wants he wants

dambly he wants ico gambling no no that's not pioneering okay again

it's somewhat of a risk to you know compared to traditional savings

mechanisms to have to value your wealth and Bitcoin to save with Bitcoin you

know compared to what the mainstream is telling you to do okay so you could be a

saving pioneer and what else do I have here and the SEC can't do anything to

stop you either okay that's the biggest point right there if you want to be a

savings pipe Payoneer so yes just buy bitcoins totally pioneering in an

environment where renegades are supposedly you know buying stocks and

everyone's buying uranium and and IRAs now that's not a renegade the Renegades

are the saviors of Bitcoin baby strong hand long-term thinking pound that

frickin like button value your wealth in Bitcoin and again I am kept ball tch be

alt on twitter follow me there dudes and on steam it I am Bitcoin Meister what do

we have a bit Mex research publishes publishes a new

report analyzing the etherium holdings of the ICO projects we establish that

the icos have already know speaking of Isis have already sold almost as much US

dollars worth of aetherium as they initially raced so they made up great

you know if these icos are valuing their wealth and fiat they

raised all this aetherium for X amount of Fiat Dino at a Fiat value and now

they've sold enough aetherium that they've recouped all their Fiat okay

they've recouped everything and they still have more etherion they still have

more they can still even they can still play even more so they've got a lot you

got you've got nothing from them I mean you've got no promise that they'll

continue why should they continue their a great financial situation they still

have crypto left and they've uh and they've sold most of them correct a lot

of their aetherium so uh yeah again another reason why they don't have

to produce anything is what this is basically saying here and they're not

about to dump you know for those of you who care about aetherium there's no need

for them to dump to dump aetherium now there's no need for them they can they

can hang on to it even longer and do who maybe they will produce something I

don't know but there's no reason for them to dump any of their what they

should be doing is turning in the Bitcoin and then just not producing

anything we say they're gonna produce I mean that's unethical totally but in

there I mean who 90% of them are scams anyway

but again named Brady's you know they raised $100 raised $100,000 worth of

etherium now they've they've sold a hundred thousand dollars worth of

etherium so they have their $100,000 they still etherium all right oh you're

welcome Bitcoin now but I'm just such you check out that link below bang that

Bell button if you need a reminder when we go live here uh what is this no

that's for Tuesday's Jeff Mike Serta bitch yeah I I mentioned through the

years now that my certain bitch I don't agree with the guy on everything he's a

little I mean I probably won't agree with most of the stuff to do to I don't

watch him anymore but he's to talk about Bitcoin for a long time so love him or

hate him he has told people just to hold frickin Bitcoin he said you know he had

a little he his wife gave birth to a little girl a few it's two years ago or

something like that and that he immediately put away big point for her

for her and just forgot about it he put it in his safe deposit box I think in

the traceur which again he might be the biggest jerk in the world but man he

Valerie his dog his daughter's gonna be in great shape I mean he didn't say how

much it was but it was he purchase Bitcoin when it was quite inexpensive I

mean it was it was below $700 if not even buffle I mean I don't know when he

bought his first Bitcoin but he's got a tweet out there today actually it was a

reply to something I was reading he says there are people who paid for their be

cashed so he even knows he even understands if he got his big cash for

free why would anyone even pay for it he's basically saying there there are

people who paid for their big I thought that was pretty funny a tweet there i

retweeted it got read right away after that so others others

also say yeah yeah just another reminder that even though there's some guys in

the purity jerks you can't you don't agree with them she used to talk a big

point for a while he's stuck with Bitcoin

he's clearly never trying to diversify and anything pretending to be big point

he understands that bitcoin is the next Bitcoin so so good for him and that was

I thought that was a funny tweet that's our tweet of the day I guess it was

simple but effective there Aaron Vaughn weird has another privacy article out

there for anyone interested in crypto Percy privacy this article on member

Wimble grin and was this beam privacy is a great overview of the middle Wimble

protocol and the two current member Wimble projects to watch alright I think

I might be the end I felt like I skipped I hope I didn't skip anything near

people I do always feel like I skip all right

that's the end of the darn show i'm adam meister the bitcoinmeister the disrupt

meister remember to subscribe this channel like this video share this video

check out the links section below of course and click on those Squared's at

the end that you're seeing right now I'll say hi to everyone in the chat

Zenit M with 35mm F/1.0 Lens – Russian Legendary Brand Enters Digital Age – Interview and Footage - Duration: 7:43.

Zenit is back, and this time with a full frame camera

that can shoot full HD video.

cinema5D at Photokina 2018 is brought to you by:

B&H, the professional source for all your video needs.

Cartoni, supports your vision.

Canon, live for the story.

And CVP, your one-stop shop for cine, video, photo and more.

Hi, I'm Johnnie from cinema5D and I'm here with Andrey, from Zenit.

-Andrey, how are you?

-Fine, thanks, How are you?

-I'm fine, thank you very much.

So, Zenit, for people that doesn't know the company,

a little bit about the history.

-Our story is a very long story, we started like Zenit more than 100 years ago.

And since 1968 we're allocated in Krasnogorsk city, near Moscow,

-Making what?

-Making, first of all, cameras, lenses.

But during a short period of time, 20 years, we haven't produced cameras.

-So, everything was shut off, or actually it was a low-key?

-The problem was that in the 90s we couldn't catch the new stream in digital cameras,

but in that period of time of 30 years we've been producing only lenses.

-And now you're making a comeback with a new camera

and the idea is to show that you're actually alive and kicking.

So, what's the name of the new camera?

-The new camera is a Zenit M camera, 35mm f/1 lens,

we are in cooperation with Leica Cameras.

-Okay, so the outside design is yours

and the internal of the camera is actually from Leica?

-Of course, because Leica is the leader of this market,

they are very professional at this stuff.

And for us is a stupid idea to start from scratch.

And it's a real cooperation, because the product is really good.

-Can you disclose which Leica is actually living inside your box?

-You see, it's not so easy.

It doesn't mean that Leica takes something from their camera

and put it inside our camera, of course not.

Because it's an absolutely different structure of components,

absolutely different soft, it's a Russian soft here.

and it's a collaboration between two big and famous companies.

One in Germany and the other in Russia.

So, the end result will be a different texture for the picture?

I mean, if I take this one, put it next to a Leica,

the texture of the picture or video will be different?

-You see, it's very easy, if you visit the Leica camera site

you won't find something like that.

It's absolutely a different picture, it's absolutely a different type of lenses

and as a result, different camera.

-We are very interested in the video capabilities of this camera,

because we are catering our filmmakers audience.

-I'm engineer…

-No problem, but if you can tell me a little bit, hopefully you can answer

about the video capabilities of this camera.

This camera can also shoot video, yes?

-Of course.

In what resolution?

-Up to Full HD or 4k?

-Up to full HD.

-How about frame rates?

How high can we go?

-I don't know.

-Okay, we can check later.

-You can check it and you have your own personal opinion,

and I think the opinion will be good.

-You told me a bit earlier that this camera actually is being sold now

in a very limited edition.

How many pieces will be actually produced?

-500 items around the world,

450 are the silver ones and 50 the black ones.

-And the price?

-In Europe it will be €5,500 camera and lens.

-What lenses are you gonna sell with this camera?

-35mm F/1.

-So, one single lens and the body.

-It will be together, camera and lens, and the final price €5,500.

-I think it's also important to note that this is a full frame camera.

-Full frame, of course.

-And the bayonet, the mount is?

-M mount, Leica M mount.

-Okay, so presumably, you sold all those pieces.

What is the next step?

-The next step it will be an absolutely new camera.

Now we are working very hard with the guys from Leica company,

and it will be an absolutely new design, absolutely new electronic components

and different type of lenses.

This camera is just to show that we're alive, that we are ready to start our new era,

together with a famous company like Leica, and I think it will be great.

Of course it's a very limited series.

-Is there any chance that your new camera will have 4k video, for example?

-I don't know, too early to say.

Very early.

-How about the Mount? will it be still M mount, or you will move to the L mount?

Or you don't know?

-First of all, we're speaking about the mount for Leica camera,

And, for example, after some time, you can buy lenses separately from the camera,

if you already had a Leica camera and use it together.

But next year we will start producing for Nikon and Canon cameras.

And I think it will be great because this lens it's perfectly well.

-When should we expect the next camera to be in the market, more or less?

Is it one year of development, or two years of development?

-I can say that the next two lenses, especially for this camera,

will be at the start of the new year, in February or March.

-And the new camera?

-New camera by the end of next year.

Digital Detox: Unplug to Connect with Others - Duration: 12:11.

hello hello I'm Tonya Dalton owner of inkwell press and this is another

episode of Tanya TV today I want to talk about a digital detox unplug to connect

with others I think this is really important because so often we're so busy

staring at our screens we forget to look up we forget to look around and connect

with the people around us so I want to talk about a digital detox which is a

deliberate act of taking away time from devices your phone your computer screens

if you have kids you might think of this as like a technology timeout so I'd love

to share with you several ways to be able to do a digital detox and be sure

to stay tuned until the end because I've got a free download to help you out

so why would we want to do a digital detox well there's a significant link

between the use of technology and engagement in our everyday lives the

more plugged in we are digitally often the less connected we are with those

people around us neurologists are starting to see significant changes in

our brains in the areas that control attention decision making and even

processing emotions and they're seeing this even in adults so really technology

affects the way that we feel and it affects our bodies think about the

physical reactions our bodies are experiencing to technology because we're

constantly gazing downward at our phone or our laptop we're starting to see more

problems with our backs and our necks so we really want to be cognizant of that

or if you're having a hard time sleeping nine times out of ten it's due to

technology the most common physical effect is insomnia that blue light

that's emitted by technology really can't affect your sleep patterns but

it's not just our health that we feel technology our friends and family feel

it too they feel disconnected to us when we're so focused on our computers and

our phones we often lose that connection with those people that we love and

that's what we want to do we want to unplug to connect with others now this

digital detox is a growing trend and it's done in order to form greater

connections with yourself and those people around you so let me ask you this

what would you do with more time and less technology go ahead and post your

answer in the comments below because I'd love to know what you would do if you

were spending less time on your phone or your computer and how you would spend it

because being constantly plugged in we feel is something that we have to do we

feel like that's part of our jobs or maybe our work but being constantly

plugged in doesn't really make you more productive it actually makes you less

productive and that's probably really surprising research actually shows that

work after we hit that forty hour mark your productivity begins to decline so

any work that you do over those 40 hours let's say you're working 50 hours

those 10 extra hours aren't really contributing to your greater good and

what you're really wanting to do and if you're working creatively it's actually

20 hours not even that 40 hours so we feel like we need to do more because

that's what everyone else is doing and busyness becomes a default it becomes

our excuse but think about this how often are we busy on our devices just to

avoid doing other tasks maybe you're bored or you have some anxiety or

discomfort our go-to is to pick up that screen and take a look so we need to try

to limit the digital distractions that we're feeling and that'll be the first

way that we see some immediate results because we want to unplug what do you

think happens when you unplug well the first thing is you start to feel a

little bit different with your body your posture starts to improve we begin to

see better sleep but it also gives your brain a break and I think that's really

important we forget how much our brain works on a constant basis giving

yourself a break away from technology gives you the space

to really process things especially if you're looking for solutions it gives

you that space to breathe and your brain to explore and play so you'll make

better decisions and it'll help your mood and really it will allow you to

connect more with not just others but also yourself it allows you to create a

schedule on your own time of where you want to spend your time so it'll allow

you to be more productive instead of being plugged in to be more productive

let's unplug and disconnect to really increase our productivity now what's

funny is if you're wondering if there's an app to help you with your detox there

is to help us with technology well there's more technology kind of funny

right but there are several apps that can really help monitor and regulate how

much time you're spending on your phone or on your computer there is flipped

mute space moments and those are just a few what they do is they really allow us

to understand how much time we're spending on technology so then we can

start make some adjustments we've talked

before about the importance of tracking your time these apps do that for you

they allow you to see where you're spending your time and even many of the

programs where we are wasting our time even have ways to track our time Apple

Google Facebook Instagram all have tracking within them so you can begin to

see how much time you're really spending on that social media but there are other

ways as well where you can digitally detox and I've got seven ways to do your

own digital detox download to make it even easier for you if you'd like to

grab that just go to inkwell press comm slash digital detox to grab your copy

I'm gonna go through all seven of them with you right now but the download is

great to print out and post to help remind you of where you really want to

spend your time and how to disconnect so you can connect with others and I'll be

sure to post that link in the comment section below so the first way that you

can do your own digital detox is to turn off the push notifications these are

those notifications that appear on your lock screen rather than within the app

it's those pings and those blips that pop up on your screen that remind you

that somebody's posted on Instagram or don't forget to do this turn off those

push notifications it's way too tempting to pick up your phone when you hear that

tiny little ping and check it out and then the next thing you know you're in

that rabbit hole of Technology the second thing you can do is place your

phone in a designated space and then go to that place whenever you want to check

it instead of carrying around your phone keep your phone in that one spot think

of it kind of like smoking how people have to go outside to smoke and so you

have to really want to smoke to go outside especially on a cold day this is

the same thing with your phone you have to go to that location in order to check

it you'll start to notice how often you're itching to go to that spot and

that might make a big difference the third thing you can do is set limits or

use apps to limit the time spent on social media sites I mentioned a couple

earlier I mentioned flipped and mute I mentioned moments all of these are

great in helping us track where our time is going we really want to start taking

a look at how all these minutes are adding up two minutes here two minutes

there starts to build up you're actually usually really surprised at how much

time we're spending mindlessly scrolling rather than being mindful on technology

the fourth thing you can do is put your phones in a basket or in another space

altogether during family meals or during meetings that helps you engage with

others in the room instead of constantly looking at your phone it gives you an

opportunity to dive a little bit deeper and build relationships with those

people you're sitting with whether that's your family or your coworkers

that's really what builds effective teams and I think that is so important

the fifth thing you can do is turn your phone off for an hour before bedtime

that's a really really easy way to start one hour before bedtime and you could

use your phone to your advantage on this set the timer so it goes off an hour

before you want to go to bed and that's your cue to turn it off if you need to

jump in one more time check whatever you need to check and then turn it off that

will allow your brain some space away from technology you can get a good

night's sleep the sixth thing you can do is leave your phone outside of your

bedroom and use a traditional alarm clock I know a lot of us are dependent

on our phones to wake us up in the morning but people have been using alarm

clocks for centuries or some form of alarm clocks so we don't have to have

our phone by our bed what happens is sometimes we wake up in the middle of

the night and for some reason we're tempted to pick it up and start getting

on to social media or checking out if we have any emails right take that

temptation out of the room altogether put an alarm clock in your room and take

your phone and don't ever bring it in the bedroom the seventh thing you can do

is have a completely tech free day one whole day that feels completely tech

free I know that might seem hard but make it easy on yourself do it on a day

that would feel easy maybe a holiday when there's no work or a Saturday or a

Sunday when less people are contacting you if

you can push it to a whole weekend that would be my challenge for you but let's

start small start with just an hour and then let's see if we can work our way to

a full day completely tech free and see how that feels see how you feel more

connected to those people around you I think you'll see a big difference but

here's the thing when you do a digital detox you really start to experience the

four piece perspective we come away from a detox feeling better about the people

that we're spending our time with and the way that we're using technology in

our lives you walk away with productivity as I mentioned plugging in

doesn't boost your productivity so taking time away will allow you to get

back to work when you're ready feeling a little more energized and ready to go it

also gives you perseverance being able to refrain from using technology really

can help give you the ability to understand that you don't have to have

it all the time and then you feel a little more empowered to be without it a

little more often and then it helps provide you purpose removing that

constant distraction of technology allows us to truly focus on what matters

most on living our lives intentionally without all that extra noise in our

lives so I really want to encourage you to try a digital detox as I said you

don't have to go big it could be just a few minutes it could be for a few hours

or maybe even move up to a whole day and I've got that free download to help you

out you can grab your copy at inkwell press comm slash digital detox you don't

have to do it for a long time just a few minutes and then maybe build up to an

hour and then work your way up to a full day or even a full weekend being free

from our digital connections now if you want to dive deeper into this

idea of disconnecting you can connect with others

I do have an entire podcast episode dedicated to it and I'll be sure to

include that in the notes section below in the meantime I would love for you to

subscribe I have new videos all the time that help you find a little more

productivity in your day alright until next time have a beautiful and

productively

you
