Hi, my Name is Chris Letizi and this is my video application for the 2019 Master of Dietetics program at Deakin University

Through my time at Deakin

I've learn some incredible skills including time management, team communication

and how to study independently.

Ultimately, these skills have helped me through my years at Deakin

and by extending those skills to other paths of life such as work

it has allowed me to experience self-growth and constant improvement

I believe it is extremely important to learn skills such as these

because a career in dietetics will constantly require me to put forth those skills

to surpass new obstacles

Aside from the personal skills, the content within my course has set an integral base

to my future dietetics studies

However, the most important thing that I have learnt during my time at Deakin

Is that in order to thrive in any setting of life, you need to have passion.

I work as a nutritionist coordinator at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Footscray.

Which has given me valuable insight into both clinical and community dietetics practice.

My role includes working closely with dietitians, performing diabetes risk assessments

And I am currently leading a project with other volunteer nutritionists where we are assessing food security the nutritional status of members.

Working with an at-risk and vulnerable population has been a very eye-opening and rewarding experience

because it has taught me skills pertaining to nutrition and dietetics which have allowed me to extend my skill-set as a future dietitian.

And whilst it was a challenging and new experience at first, it has allowed me to work with people whos struggles and hardships and very different to my own

I can now say that I have the valuable experience of working with people whos cultures, and languages and hardships are very different to my own.

After my studies at Deakin, I would love to work in a sports setting, as I am also very passionate

About working towards health and fitness goals. I would also love to continue to help at-risk populations within Australia.

So working in a field where I can make a considerable impact on people's lives,

be it clinical or a community based settings, would fill me with a sense of accomplishment .

Once I complete my Masters of Dietetics, I would use my skills and qualifications to do just that.

I would begin applying to multiple dietetics related fields in hopes to gain valuable early career experience.

And I would use the essential skills that I've learnt here at Deakin to continue to work hard

, build new experiences, and learn new skills which will ultimately help me become a proficient and experienced dietitian.

thankyou
