Hey. Ando again from Happy Life Martial Arts. I'm blessed again to be

standing here with Stephan Kesting, founder of Grapplearts.com and Self-Defense

Tutorials.com. He's a mountain of a man and a mountain of good information, so I

hope you guys will listen up. Mr. Kesting, will you help us out. I got a problem here,

sir. I have a lot of friends who watch the channel and they don't have the

opportunity to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, maybe still don't believe

in wrestling and groundwork, if I don't know anything about groundwork, and I'm

still hesitating about joining a BJJ club, what are the top priorities if you

know-- you slip and you lose your footing in a fight, if you get hit

and you know you're going down, the guy's grabbing you, know you're going down, as

an experienced grappler guy, what are the first things that flash through your

mind as you're going down ? >> Okay. Well, there is sort of the conceptual level

and then there's a couple of technical things. I will do both. >> Okay.

>> We'll show actually some techniques per se, but first, to quote another Jiu-Jitsu

black belt, Kurt Osiander, if you go to the ground and you don't know what

you're doing, son, you F'd up a long time ago. You know, because

you can learn techniques, but unless you do some level of training of those

techniques, they're worthless. You can watch YouTube videos, unless you go and

train them with a friend, at a club-- you don't only have to do jiu-jitsu. You can do Judo,

submission grappling, catch wrestling, there are lots of systems where you

become comfortable on the ground. You know, that's that's my initial disclaimer.

Number two, don't panic. Fear is the mind killer. It is the little death. And if you

completely panic, you're gonna do stupid things. We've got to keep on thinking. I'm

sure we would probably agree-- never, it's always a little bit tricky with you--

>> Appreciate that. >>Because the brain is the most important muscle for self-defense.

You gotta keep on thinking because maybe there's is a different way out. Maybe you

should yell, maybe you shouldn't yell, maybe you get a weapon, maybe you shouldn't get

a weapon, maybe you should play dead, maybe you should hand over your wallet. It's all contextual.

So, don't panic. The way to not panic is actually to get comfortable on the

ground. At this range right now, we're in a casual conversational range. This is

the range that we're used to. If we were having the same conversation here, this

would be awkward for both of us. >> Well, kind of. >> On the ground, with the pressure,

people lose their minds because they're not familiar with the pressure

on the ground. So, the most important thing of grappling actually, is becoming

comfortable with that pressure on the ground. Again, you can only do it--

learn it by doing it. >> So, what are the stupid things that people do? >> Sure. stupid

things that people do. They turn their back. >> Okay. >> Let's assume I've ended

up on the ground. We're not gonna cover the process of getting to the ground.

Like you said, you could slip, try not to hit your head on the ground. Try and cover

your head. Try and bring your chin to your chest. Okay, that's stupid thing

number one. Falling like this. If I fall like this, in an expanded position, the

odds of my head hitting the pavement and be getting knocked out are worse, are much

higher than if I'm here. I bring my chin to my chest and I fall.

I might not know a breakfall, but I'd far rather land on my shoulders than

on the back of my head. Chin to chest. Number.

This big scary guy in a red shirt is attacking me." I'm gonna turn

away. This is suicide. First of all, I can't

defend . If you want to kick me... >> Ha!

>> If you want to punch me, you can punch me. Or you can choke me, right? If I'm here, AGH.

If you know what you're doing and a lot of guys know what they're doing these

days. >> Right. >>There are a lot of tough guys who watch the UFC and even if they don't

train MMA or BJJ, and a lot of them do, they still

understand the basic concept. They're jumping on someone's back and choking

them out. So, number one, don't turn your back. In Jiu-Jitsu, there are a couple of examples when you

turn your back, but it's a high-level tactic. It's like a spinning

back-kick of standing, right? >> It's because you already know what to do. >> Exactly.

>> You can break the rules once you know the rules. Don't start with it. >> Exactly.

Number two is if I'm fighting you, the basic concept of the jiu-jitsu guard is to get

my legs between me and you. I'm in a terrible position,I'm in a terrible

position, I'm in a terrible position, I'm in a terrible position, I'm not in a

great position, but this is better than all the alternatives. The difference is

you could kneel down please enter the difference between here being in my

dart and the difference with you sitting on top of me looks kind of similar but

it's a huge difference because I could bring my legs in what's my legs are in

the game I can control distance I can push you away I can if you're crunching

at me I can pull you in and I can keep you close I can keep you far away and

bringing my legs in this super important now the whole intricacies of the jujitsu

guard game we don't have time to go into so it just leaves everybody with this if

you stand up please and oh this in itself is well worth grilling one person

standing the other person on the ground without doing any sophisticated guard I

know you know what the guard passes just try and get past my legs we're just

going to be running here and I'm gonna be trying to put my feet even go far

away to just try and run around right I'm gonna be playing this kind of game

so long as I can keep my feet between me and you right I can control the distance

and I might be able to up kick one mistake one final bonus tip there's so

many people get into who's gonna kick you away and stand up get away from me

get away from me okay did you write all that on video that's beautiful the baby

drop Roach that's excellent don't get so focused on kicking that you lose the

position if I'm shaking like crazy you can throw my leg to the side and now I'm

screwed right whereas the main thing is keeping the

position if you come in a bit and I see that opening I think it I can kick I can

do various sweets I can use my feet but I don't want to do that expense of

losing the position it's like saying these a stand up analogy if you get

attacked just go like this close your eyes and cool like that and hold your

breath cuz you're gonna get tired so to recap chin to chest

if you fall yep protect your head and if you can't don't turn your back mmm

life is almost always better with your feet are in plate it keep the guy in

your guard keep the eye on your guard maintain that position drill that it's

actually a very non-threatening way to start your jiu-jitsu career sure it's

training with one person on their back the other person trying to run around

the other person especially with women especially with kids

we're like what do you mean you want me to put you in between my legs and pull

you down to work my chest sort of an open guard approach is much more

palatable often I find and then don't go crazy with the kicking you can kick but

maintain the position first all right there's a lot to think about there

practise falling practice being on the ground you put a pillow on your face

practice that feeling of suffocation practice getting up off the ground

practice kicking from the ground so there's a lot better you can practice

right now at home or even with your kid or your dog and they don't even know

you're practicing just orienting yourself and that's a lot of great

information. Thank you very much. That's excellent.

>> Always a pleasure, Ando. >> Thank you. And it's a good lesson there, something he said

at the end-- life is always better if you face your problems. So, every time you

turn away and you deny something, it's probably gonna make things worse. So,

face your problems, people. Until next time, keep fighting for a happy life.

Who are you, who do you want to be?

I'm Matt, that's who I am What the F are we talking about here?

I know who I am, I'm Matt Stop confusing me

I'm not a starfish So this is my friend Matt, obviously

and I know him from like 2011, 2012 I think you're cooked

I think that whole time period is just one year for you

It was after 2012, it was probably more like 2014, start of 2014

Really?

Yeah.

Wow, I feel like I've known you way longer I know.

I'm starting to realize that I'm really starting to sound like a hippy

You've only been here for like a day man Just my ideals and stuff and what I say

If someone said that to me like you know love is love man

and they just like wear old clothes and like you know just what you imagine

in the whole you know tree loving hippy people

Yeah, because like everything else people sort of become right?

Like you sort of develop your identity but for me I accidentally became a hippy

because being a hippy for me was like not being anything

like you just stop you're just throwing shit away

but it is funny how these things are so easily like pigeon holed, categorized as like

and then there's the stereotypes of everything but I wouldn't ever consider myself a hippy

I wouldn't self identify like I know that everybody sees

a hippy sitting on this couch you know what I mean?

Yea, see I don't You don't see me as a hippy

No.

Oh wow.

Cool.

I'm just a regular dude Yea 100% - 100%

You did definitely have like a strong hippyish phase

Where I was actually But that was like

That was just more like self discovery That's healthy

Like everything else I had a punk rock phase

Yeah dude We all went through many different phases

and if you didn't, you're lying to yourself Yea absolutely

Whether it was obvious to everyone else Oh dude

Everyone remembers like the rebellious or the emo phase

It's like trying on different identities and finding what fits

like oh this is a good one for this This is a good one for that

That's how people like learn You're not, just because you do that one thing

doesn't mean that's your thing for life You're allowed to like try and be like

oh I actually, I like bits of it, I don't like all of it

keep trying different things until you find that thing

I love tie dye, that's what I've taken from Yea but like that doesn't

just because you love tie dye does that make you a hippy though?

Because maybe that's a thing that you know predominantly is known

In the iconography and stuff I don't know

I like just like if you like vegetable smoothie or something

does that then make you a vegan you know what I mean?

I dunno, just these little tropes If someone sees you drinking something like

that like oh that guys a vegan

and then you don't actually see him like 6 hours later

at like the pub eating like a chicken parmy or something

Some people like personally They strongly identify themselves as these

things but I find it more liberating to just like mix

and match Definitely, why would you want to be like

a meme or like so pigeon holed into like you're

this, this, this and this If you see those things and you're like that's

me I find it um it's like sort of robs you

of your identity Yea!

A lot because You're not, you're always trying to live up

to the expectations of the group that you've identified

yourself with and you're constantly learning like oh

I'm actually not in alignment with the groups like values

and the whole idea of any ism is to eliminate like ambiguity entirely

to simplify, simplify, simplify Do you want that, do you want to simplify

yourself?

Like I don't think so No

But there's, you learn valuable things from the groups

that do, like they're doing, they're doing a service

to society in a way because they're like cultivating like all of the knowledge of like

plant based eating like you could learn about it

Just take bits and pieces from everything I appreciate that they're there but

it's definitely not my thing to like go and attach my personal identity

to that I never wanna be like

that's my identity like Matt when someone says my name, Matt: vegan.

Like I don't want that to be like there shouldn't be a tag to that

like someone's like Matt Well what is Matt

Yeah.

Remember how we started the interview?

What?

I'm not a F starfish Yeah.

You should just be you and just be happy with you

and not what anyone else thinks that you should be

and so we what made like bulk You were just, you just wanted to create non

stop and had like ideas for everything and I was

like and I was at the point where I was just

I was like it's better than doing whatever I'm doing right now

Yeah, I feel like you were just soaking it up

like this is a good opportunity Just to do things - try shit

Yeah and um it was such a different

um perspective and way of doing film than what I was studying at the time

like there was this two completely different I was like the anarchy, like just chaos

like you can just, like punk rock sort of approach

to filmmaking Yeah, it was like

I was seeing this whole industry and the professional side

Sets and audio teams and all that but then like the whole just guerrilla filming

and doing it that way was also like really like liberating

and like exciting at the same time And that's what led me to documentaries

because that's essentially what eventually I realized that's what I was

You were trying to do that anyway You were almost doing that mini doccos

even with your Kyli stuff like that was essentially you trying to do like

these mini like kinda docco style stuff I just didn't know

You didn't.

Yeah.

10 Self Defence Tips You Need To Learn Now - Duration: 6:35.

Self-defense is the best way to save your neck in a tight spot.

We have heard incidents regarding mugging, burglaries and carjacking over the news multiple

times.

But we normally think that it won't happen to us, ever.

Unfortunately, no one is immune from attackers.

But that does not mean you need to invest in security or personal bodyguards to save

your ass.

Here are 10 self-defense help tips that we hope you'll never have to use in real life.

1.

Clench your hands the right way A fist is always the best option in a fight.

Most often this fact is ignored.

However, your hand automatically clenches into a fist, as a result of a stimulus, just

before a blow.

Keep in mind that you have to attack with full force without injuring your fingers.

Don't expose the thumb at any cost.

But bear in mind that it shouldn't be concealed under your fingers either.

This can lead to a fracture of the thumb.

Also, the force of the clench should not be too stiff or too loose.

If the grip and the clasp are too loose, then the impact of the punch will be less.

If it is stiff, then you could hurt yourself.

You should also use the flat of your hand in a fight.

That flat palm shove will come as more of a surprise.

Number 2.

How to break free if your hands are tied Focus on one thing, you need some space when

you are being bound by a rope, cord or a duct tape.

That way you can move your hands and legs.

What you need to do is leave some room for air.

If your hands are being tied, clench them tightly in fists.

If you are being bound by the body, then inhale in air so that your diaphragm expands.

The more room there is left between the rope hand or body, the more chances one has for

an escape.

This is what you need to do if you are being tied with a rope.

If your hands are bound by duct tape, you can simply tear it apart.

Don't believe us?

So here's how you do it.

Just raise your hands above your head, and then thrust them down with a lot of force.

This method can be applied even if your hands are bound from behind.

Sounds easy?

Then, start practicing.

Number 3.

Remember To Attack The Weak Yet Vital Spots Of The Attacker

If you lack the necessary strength to overwhelm your attacker, then you need this trick to

survive.

Try to incorporate the element of surprise.

Strike a blow as hard in the vulnerable areas.

Which are those areas, you ask?

The vital areas include eyes, nose, nape of the neck, throat chin and many more.

Hit as swiftly as you can.

A bit of delay and you could be overpowered.

Number 4.

Use Security Apps On The Smartphone This point applies to all women and children.

Smart phone apps such as Family Locator, bSafe, and others should always be downloaded on

the phone.

These apps will allow you to track the movements of your kith and kin.

These apps can aid you in sending out a distress signal if required.

In case you do not have a smartphone, then use the emergency number feature on your phone.

If your phone lacks this facility too, then keep all the important numbers on speed dial.

Number 5.

Keep Pepper Spray At Hand In case you are being trailed or you have

anticipated an attack, then Pepper Spray can help you to buy some precious time.

If you are lucky enough, you can use this opportunity to disarm your opponent or simply

throw him off track.

You can also use it as a part of an attack combo.

Just spray it and land a kick on the attacker's groin, then you can rush to the nearest police

station.

Number 6.

Using Code Language To Indicate Danger Or An Emergency

We all have used this trick in childhood.

Many of us invent code language and new words to send out secret signals to our near and

dear ones.

Though this seems illogical, it could increase the chances for you to save your life.

You can use this code for texting and alerting the concerned person.

Use the code to tell your predicament or your location.

But use it articulately so that your assistance reaches you in proper time.

Number 7.

Use Objects Lying Nearby As Props Random objects that could help you out of

a sticky situation are your defensive and offensive props.

If you are confused about this, then allow us to elaborate by giving examples.

Your purse can serve as a shield from a knife assault.

Your scarf can be thrown in an attacker's face.

Umbrellas, bags, and even small change in your pocket can be of help.

Keys are one of the best tools.

Don't waste time trying searching for a knuckleduster, use the lid of the trash can

if it is at hand.

Number 8.

How To Escape From Various Types Of Grasps You can escape from a hand grip by using this

trick.

Rotate your hand toward the attacker's thumb.

Remember that you should do it in a quick, sharp jerk.

If the assailant realizes your plan, he'll squeeze your hand with all his strength.

You can also use your legs to hit your attacker in the groin and knees.

Step on his feet with as much force as you can.

If you've been grabbed by the hair, then this technique could be useful.

It would allow you to inflict pain on your attacker.

It also provides almost total control over his body.

First, grab the attacker's hand with both of your hands.

Second, use your feet again.

Land a kick on a weak spot.

Finally, if you feel that the attacker's hand has slackened his grip, then let go of

it and break into a run.

If you've been grabbed by the neck, then hit the attacker in the groin, or poke his

eyes with your fingers.

Number 9.

Learn All About First Aid Learn all the vital instructions providing

first aid.

Be it yourself or somebody else, knowing about first aid always helps.

There are countless emergency situations there might be an injury, and a hospital might not

be immediately accessible.

In this case, your first aid measures could save a life.

You can even carry a first aid box in the dashboard of your car.

Number 10.

Always Be Alert Even if you know each and everything about

self-defense, it is always helpful to be a bit alert.

If you are well aware of your surroundings and the occurrences that are going on near

you, then you could save your life quite easily.

Always be on a lookout.

Maintain a distance while you are walking.

If you are vigilant enough, then you will be able to act on time.

Why Businesses Can't Self Represent in Florida - Duration: 1:48.

I'm Reed Bloodworth the managing partner of Bloodworth Law.

A lot of my business clients are surprised to learn that they cannot represent their

corporation or their LLC in court.

That's because Florida law requires that a corporation or an LLC be represented by

an attorney in any court proceeding.

So what does that mean?

Well that means if your company has a potential breach of contract action against another

company or individual and you as owner of the company attempt to file that breach of

contract complaint in court your complaint can be dismissed.

There'd be a motion to dismiss filed by the other side that says this corporation

or LLC is not represented by counsel and accordingly as a matter of Florida law this complaint

should be dismissed.

On the flip side of that if your company gets sued and you as owner attempt to file an answer

from defenses or a motion to dismiss those pleadings for motion can be stricken from

the record.

So this means is if you are involved in a lawsuit in Florida and you own a business

your business must have counsel.

So again my name is Reed Bloodworth.

If you own a business and something's happened to you give me a call.

Let's talk about what's happened to you.

There are many sites out there where talented artists offer their services.

Sites like upworks.com and fiverr.com are an excellent place to start. You can find a talented artist for a reasonable price.

How many illustrations are in the children's picture book?

In a 32-page picture book, you don't need 32 illustrations. For my Pete's Monster children's book, I only needed 18 illustrations, not including the book cover.

How do you self-publish a paperback book?

Go to createspace.com which is owned by Amazon and sign up for an account

Make sure when you complete your book details you check the box that asks if you want to publish in both paperback

You can also watch my 20 minute video on How to publish a paperback book on Createspace.

I walk you through the process step-by step. The link is below.

Welcome my name is Fay B. Bolton and today I'm going to go through the process

of publishing a book using the create space platform.

Do picture books have words inside them?

Word count is low for picture books. Some have fewer then 150 words. Keep a simple sentence structure with large font.

The illustrations themselves should explain the story.

How many words are in the children's picture book?

Picture books for children up to age eight average 1000 words (though many are shorter); easy readers for ages five to nine are 50-2500 words.

Chapter books (short novels for ages seven to ten) typically are 10,000-12,000 words.

What is considered a chapter book?

Chapter book is a story book intended for intermediate readers,

generally age 7 to 10 years.

Unlike a picture book a chapter book tells the story primary through words,

rather than picture.

How many words are in a chapter book?

If you're publishing a paperback book, then a 50,000-word count might break nicely into ten chapters — about 5,000 words per chapter.

Depending on your writing speed and time you can devote to your writing skill.

5,000 words are much more than the length of a couplet of blog post, and you can quickly write this word count over a weekend.

12 to 24 thousand word count is a good range in publishing to Kindle.

Do I need to hire a book editor?

Absolutely! This is the one step of book publishing that you should not miss.

You need to have a fresh set of eyes read and review your book for proofreading and editing.

Cost between

200 and 1200 dollars, depending on your word count.

How long does it take to write a book and get it published?

There is no set answer to this question.

One book might take a year, while another is designed and printed in less than three weeks.

It is sensible to allow at least three months for the process -

six months to a year

is even better if you are writing a novel. Time depends on how many edits and re-writes need to be made

to your content

and how much research needs to be conducted.

What is the word count for a Kindle fiction book?

Today's reader because of distractions in people's lives and attention spans. The word count should be between

12,000 - 24,000 words is a good range.

You can also split your kindle complex novel into a book series of smaller books, which seems to be a trend today.

Do I need to research a book niche before writing or publishing my book?

Yes, just like on YouTube. There are trends. Same goes for Amazon

Look for a trend under the bestsellers for popular book topics and niche.

The diet and cook book niche is constantly changing.

How do I know what books are selling and making money on Amazon and Kindle?

In your book genre view the book sale ranking.

Ranked #1 means it's a best seller. Even a ranking of 1,000, the author is receiving an excellent royalty commission.

Anything over a 30,000 ranking, book sales are slow. (Crying)

How important are book reviews?

Crucial! That's another reason why you must have your book edited.

Someone gives you a one-star review because the bad grammar or poor writing.

Ouch! That can cause people to click away and not buy your book.

Our book reviews helpful when it comes to conducting niche research, yes

Are book reviews helpful with research?

Yes! Many authors overlook reviews. Use book reviews as part of your research.

They can tell you what people liked or disliked about the book that they just read.

Reviews can also tell you if the reader felt like something was missing or not covered in enough detail.

Reviews are also a wonderful place to start to get your next book idea.

Do I need an author's page on Amazon?

Yes, creating your authors page. Follow the steps at authorscentral.amazon.com

to set up your account.

Make sure you add lots of information about you and why you write.

Include any writing awards you have achieved. It's your place to brag.

Do I need to write a book description on my Amazon book page?

DIY Powder Room Remodel and Makeover (Part 3 - Self Leveling Compound and Drywall) - Duration: 4:24.

Welcome to part 3 of my powder room makeover project, I bought the 1/2"sheetrock from home depot

Installing drywall is not too difficult, it's about testing your measuring skill more than

anything else. This electrical outlet box is pretty straight forward.

Now, this one is more challenging, it's for the round electrical box.

There is not special tricks, all you have to do is to measure it precisely then use

the hole saw to drill it through.

If everything goes well, this should fit perfectly.

Let's see... moment of truth, there you go.

Boom..

Awesome!

In case it doesn't fit, you can easily enlarge the hole and patch it later.

The next step is to do the mudding using the drywall compound, followed by sanding.

I didn't want to go in too details because I have talked about it already in my other

videos.

So, let's focus on some other cool stuff.

It is the first time for me to use the self-leveling compound and I was told I MUST use the PRIMER,

if you don't?

It won't flow properly.

Remember to wear the mask that filters the vapor, it's nasty.

I recommend P100 mask

One big problem was the water ratio in mixing, I followed the instructions but it was way

too watery.

You don't want to mix it like regular concrete either because it needs to self levelled.

So, I just use my common sense to make it a little bit thicker and as you see,

this is my mix.

Alright after 24 hours, let's check the level.

Wow..

This is pretty impressive, look at this it's perfectly level.

Okay, this is a long one and let's see.

The self-leveling compound performs extremely well, even though this one is slightly off

a bit, not perfect but close enough.

Next time we are going to install the floor tiles, remember to subscribe.

Also, check out other videos on my channel, I hope you will find them helpful too.

Bye for now.
