If you're interviewing for a technical job whether it's in analytics, engineering,

software development or anything else, you need to be prepared to talk about your technical

background.

Interviewers are looking for you to articulate what you've accomplished and what your skills

are in business terms, and they're also looking to see how much you can engage them

on this content.

I'll teach you how to engage your interviewer so you stand out as a really strong candidate.

I'm Jen with The Career Force.

We help smart, career minded professionals stand out in today's job market.

If you want more career information, specifically on technical careers, check back every week

or subscribe to the channel.

It's really common to be asked the interview question, "Tell me about yourself."

And while you might get that question, you might also get this, "Tell me about your

technical background question."

It might kick off the interview.

In that case, the interviewer is really looking to loosen you up, get some ideas of things

you've done before, and get some ideas of what other questions they want to ask you.

Maybe it happens a little later in the interview.

Treat it the same way.

You're trying to engage them, tease them with enough information that they really want

to know more about you.

So what's the best way to talk about your technical background?

We're going to use the method of talking about your present, your past, and then your

future.

By using this method, you hook in the interviewer with what's going on now, what you've

accomplished, then you tell a little bit of your backstory, and you connect with why you

want this new position that you're interviewing for.

We're really looking to not just regurgitate your resume.

You don't want to just say the same things that they've had in writing and probably

looked at a handful of times.

You're really trying to create a story.

You want to be really engaging.

You want it to have a flow to it.

This isn't just bullet point, bullet point, bullet point.

That can be especially tricky on a technical position because you might feel like you just

have a checklist to go down through.

We can make it really engaging which helps draw the interviewer in.

That's going to make you stand out, whether you realize it or not, the more you can build

some rapport and connection with your interviewer, even if it's subconscious, they're going

to say, "I really liked this person.

I really connect with this person."

And it can also give you some edge over other candidates, especially if technically you're

on par with each other.

Every good story starts out with a captivating intro, and your career technical story isn't

any different.

When you're talking about your technical background, think through the summary of everything

that you've done in your career.

How can you sum it up?

How have you saved money, generated revenue, improved processes?

Talk about that, and talk about that in terms of your present.

Here's what a sample response for the first part of this, the present, might sound like.

"I'm an experienced big data analyst who has led the implementation of new analytics

platforms and driven data visualization projects across large organizations.

My work has led to innovative breakthroughs in the industry."

This is a fairly high level response, but highlights some key accomplishments that you've

had in your career.

Now that you have their attention, move to the past and talk a bit about your experience

so far.

Talk about technically how you've progressed, especially if you can show a growth in your

skill levels.

Focus your story on past situations and experiences that connect as much as possible to this new

position.

Look at the job description for ideas.

What are they talking about?

Are they looking for skills in certain programming languages, or are you having certain problems

that you're trying to solve.

Focus your response in this area.

Your response in this area talking about your past, might sound like this: "I started

my career as an analyst at a company x where I standardized the analytics tools to Python

which also enabled a cleaner back end data structure.

I moved into a senior analyst role where I continued to develop my coding skills and

also focused on increasing our use of data visualization using Qlikview, Power BI, and

SQL.

I've also been involved in the industry to help develop training and network with

others to engage and continuously help me improve my skills."

Now it's time to move onto the future and talk about why you're interested in this

role and why you're a great candidate.

This part of your response about your technical background might sound like this: "I really

enjoyed working with all of these areas of analytics and am looking forward to driving

more innovation."

This part of your answer also highlights to the employer that you understand what's

expected in a new position and how you're looking forward to addressing it.

This whole answer was fairly short.

I think maybe six sentences or so.

It gave a complete synopsis of your experience at the high level that talked specifically

about what that employer was looking for.

Expect that your interviewer is going to ask you additional questions off of this, probably

more detail about specific thing you mentioned during this answer.

Make sure that whatever you answer, you're comfortable going into more detail about later

on.

The Answer Is Christmas - Christmas Explained With 10 Questions - Duration: 4:07.

Why are students everywhere celebrating?

Christmas means holiday.

Holiday means school sanctioned time-off.

School sanctioned time-off means winter break.

And winter break means no school.

What is the most popular holiday?

Christmas is the number one holiday in the world.

Nine out of ten Americans, 95% of Christians and more than 160 countries celebrate Christmas.

So, I guess it's kind of a big deal.

What is all about Jesus Christ?

Christmas is a celebration of Jesus Christ and his birth and the traditions we have,

reflect that.

We give gifts to each other like the Three Wise Men did to Jesus.

We give gifts like new puppies and game consoles, but they gave gifts like gold, frankincense

and myrrh.

All to celebrate his birth.

Why do kids behave all year long?

Christmas is known for this guy.

His name is Santa Claus and he's the symbol of Christmas cheer for many people.

He is said to be a big white-bearded man dressed in red clothing with a red hat that has a

little white ball on the end of it.

His job come Christmas time is to pack a sleigh full of gifts and presents and have his reindeer

guide his sleigh to every home in the world.

Led by, none other than, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or so the song goes.

He then slides down your chimney, eats your food, drinks your milk and delivers gifts.

The only way to get gifts from him is to be well-behaved the entire year otherwise you

get coal.

I guess coal counts as a gift, it's just not a very good one.

When do you start seeing more sunlight?

Christmas takes place on December 25th.

It's a short day.

In fact, it's one of the shortest days of the year because there is very little sun.

That's because Christmas takes place near the Winter Solstice, which occurs on December

21st.

It's the shortest day of the year due to the Earth tilting the farthest away from the

sun.

Christmas might be a celebration of Jesus Christ, but it also marks the start of when

the sun begins to fill our days with more and more light.

What day hurts your wallet?

Christmas is the most wonderful time of year but it's also the most expensive time of

year.

Because it's almost the end of the year so that means businesses are trying to sell

as much as they can so there are thousands of sales going on.

You, your friends, your family, your coworkers they're all trying to find the best gifts

for their loved ones.

And that can be costly.

Why are you going home?

Christmas brings people together.

Whether it's families, friends, significant others or all of them combined.

There is no better time to get together around a warm fire, open presents, and eat amazing

food with people that you care about.

What has great music and movies?

Christmas has its own brand of music and movies.

They're always uplifting, they're always cheery and you know exactly what time of year

it is when you start to hear and see them everywhere.

Why are people putting up lights around the house?

Christmas is a decorative holiday.

Around this time of year, it wouldn't be weird to see wreaths, mistletoe, holly, lights,

trees, snowmen, Santa Claus, reindeer and scenes of the nativity.

Some people love to decorate.

It's even seen as a competition in some neighborhoods and cars will line up to drive

through the neighborhood to see who has the best lights.

Why are you putting on more clothes?

Christmas is a winter holiday.

The temperature gets very low and the clouds let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

So, bundle up, stay warm out there, don't lick any poles.

And that's how the answer is Christmas.

Divers Answer Questions about the Garbage Patch - Duration: 3:01.

So on this particular expedition we're not specifically

focused on cleaning up the plastic.

My role underwater is primarily just to document what we're seeing out here

and what we are seeing is that cleanup out here is very, very difficult, if not impossible

because the majority of the plastic we're seeing is just small, small little fragments.

We've been covering hundreds of miles, thousands of miles actually

and every time we go underwater and put our faces underwater

we see tiny, tiny little fragments of plastic

distributed mainly on the surface layers, but all through the water.

For me the most impactful thing that I've seen are these rafts of micro plastics.

Things about this big.

And it kind of recalculates or resets your brain about how do we actually address this issue

and it actually poses more questions than it gives answers to

because we have one thing in mind when we think of the Garbage Patch

which is big clumps of very easily managed plastic

but what we're seeing in the water

is gajillion of these little teeny, tiny bits, these fragments.

So that's the most impactful thing and has made me rethink about this whole project

and this whole issue that we have here.

Depends.

It depends how good the shot is.

The better the shot the longer I'm able to force myself to hold my breath.

A working free dive of a minute, if you're not really working you're just going down

and hold your breath, a minute thirty, sometimes two minutes.

Go and spend all your life savings on a piece of camera equipment

and then jump in the salt water with it.

I've got that one better, you need to spend all your

life savings on a good education because knowing the system out here

is going to allow you to take better pictures and be a more cautious observer.

I just like to remind people that even though they may feel so far away from

the Pacific Ocean that on this planet we're all so totally interconnected that

no matter what happens out here does affect you

anywhere you are in the world.

Keep in mind that every second breath that you take is being produced

by algae that live in the ocean so the health of the oceans is literally tied

in to our health as a species.

Is GHEE better than Grass Fed Butter for Fat Loss? (Answer) - Duration: 3:10.

Hey, hey, hey everybody.

What is up?

Shaun Hadsall here, the owner of Get

Lean in 12 and stubborn fat expert

coming at you with another no hype rapid fat loss tip

and trick video.

Today's featured fat burning food

that I've been getting a lot of questions about is ghee.

Ghee.

What is the difference between grass fed butter and ghee?

Ghee is clarified butter.

So this is actually dairy-free butter,

so it's free of things like casein.

So if you're lactose intolerant, it's

a great option to use instead of butter, which has dairy in it

or grass fed butter even.

Also ghee tastes just like butter, but it's more buttery.

I think that makes sense, right?

It tastes actually more buttery than butter itself.

it.

Is amazing.

I even use it in my coffee sometimes.

Also, it's rich in CLA, Conjugated Linoleic Acid, which

is a friendly fat that is derived from the grass fed

cows which is produced from.

Now, I also wrote down, or I should

say printed out a few other things, benefits of ghee.

Now, the first 1 is it's great for cooking.

It has a high smoke point, about 450 degrees.

It's also very high in vitamin K. Vitamin

K is linked to stronger bones.

Also, it contains butera.

Butera basically is an essential short chain fatty

acid that can give you weight loss

benefits similar to coconut oil, and it's also

very anti-inflammatory.

So it reduces inflammation in the digestive track.

It's also very high in vitamins A, D, and E.

So do yourself a favor, add some ghee to your plan.

Make sure it's organic like this is.

This is non-GMO.

It's organic.

It's dairy-free.

It tastes delicious.

It has all kinds of health benefits.

It is a fat that can help you burn more fat.

Senator Donnelly Under Fire After "Cringeworthy" Debate Answer - Duration: 1:29.

Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) gave an incredibly awkward answer about diversity during Indiana's

Senate debate on Tuesday, saying that he has an African American and an Indian American

on his staff, "BUT" they do a great job.

Many feel his answer makes it sound as if minorities are handicapped in capability by

their race.

From USAToday

Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly made an awkward and cringeworthy word choice when describing

his commitment to diversity during Tuesday night's U.S. Senate debate, a moment that's

drawing some national attention.

When asked about how the candidates would promote diversity, Donnelly responded: "Our

state director is Indian American, but he does an amazing job.

Our director of all constituent services, she's African American, but she does an

even more incredible job than you could ever imagine.

It isn't their race or their religion, it's the incredible person that they are."

The issue is the word "but."

According to Webster, "but" is used to draw a contrast from the preceding phrase,

making it appear to some that Donnelly was saying his staffers do amazing jobs despite

having diverse backgrounds.
