Auto news on Youtube Nov 29 2018

So this video will be about Japanese Traditional Hotel

here in Japan

They actually call it Ryokan

And I also put some videos in how we drove there

There was a beautiful Service Station (I mean the Landscape surrounding the station)

Before Niigata

Called Kanetsu

I think if you have the chance to drive in Japan

You should definitely stop there.

If you go to Niigata.

It is really beautiful.

We arrived around sunset.

It was really good.

Enjoy the video.

This is our room

As you can see, there are no legs to the chair.

There is a heater here.

We have a TV and a safe.

And here are the futons.

Here are some pillows.

I don't know if you can hear this?

There are little Popcorn or something like this inside.

A little bit hard. Not stones but something in this direction.

There is the air conditioning.

Here is the toilet.

Here we have the little toilet slippers.

This toilet should open automatically.

No

As you can see here, the usual area to wash your hands is not here.

This is a laundry stand.

This is the genkan (entrance)

Here you can put your shoes.

We left our outdoor shoes downstairs at the (main) entrance / reception.

Here is the bath.

A small bath.

You sit here, you cannot strech.

Here you wash yourself.

There is a little stool.

What we have here?

Hot water for tea.

There is nothing.

Just cleaning stuff from the hotel.

We have a refrigerator.

Here are glasses.

Here is the escape map.

This is half open (duvet cover).

Here is the Yukata and a winter jacket.

A large towel for the Onsen.

This is the original towel for the Onsen.

This one (yellow) is for drying. This is only recently, maybe since 6 years (that they have a bigger towel).

Here is the belt for the Yukata.

Here is also a tooth brush.

I love this Almond.

This beautiful box contains tea.

Tea cups, tea

Here are some Japanese sweets.

It has the taste of roasted Caramel and black (or brown) beens.

We are having dinner with my In-Laws and my brother in law and my sister in law.

We are eating Sushi and Nabe.

Usually you bath in the Onsen in the Ryokan (Echigo Yuzawa) but they are cleaning it today.

So we could not go for Onsen.

We used our little bath.

We woke up and the first snow was there.

We drove to Nagaoka, to visit my nephew.

He is enrolled in the University in Nagaoka.

The next day is Saturday.

The sun was shining.

Really beautiful Niigata.

This is the rest of the Ryokan.

My Yukata.

I am wearing the Yukata.

This is the toilet out in the Corridor.

This is the Onsen (entrance)

The red (entrance) is for the girls.

Again, you have to take your slippers off when you step in.

In this area you can wash, brush your teeth and change your cloths.

This area is after you took a bath and you can dry your hair and do your beauty routine.

My husbands family has rice fields.

Every year we get 20 kg of new rice from Niigata.

My mother in law always gives us vegetables.

This time potatoes, leek and reddish.

So, that's it for today.

I hope I see you next week Thursday.

I hope you enjoyed the video.

Don't forget to subscribe to my channel.

If you want to be notified when I upload.

There is a little bell beside, you just click on this and whenever I upload a new video you will be immediately notified.

Ok, I see you next Thursday, bye.

Nakatsu Karaage, the best Karaage in Japan. Chikifam - Duration: 9:02.

Alright, so we're here at this place called Rakushou and we're in Nakatsu, in Oita Prefecture.

Dude, this overhead atmosphere here is so dope.

Holy smokes. Alright, let's go.

This place is dope.

Even just like outside like the atmosphere in this...

We were just trying to find a place that was open right now

Just so we can like eat because I got to get on the train by like 10:30PM

Try some of this Nakatsu Karaage. Can't wait Chikifam.

Eat the duck I must.

Eat a duck he gotta must.

Ohh!

What do you think?

It's so good!

I told him man, Nakatsu Karaage is like the best dude.

Do you disagree?

Nope, this chicken is so good.

It's so crunchy.

How do they do that?

How do they do that, indeed.

Nakatsu Karaage.

Alright.

Eat a duck. I must.

This chicken is so good.

It's like crunchy but it's not like entirely crunchy.

Just the outside is crunchy, and the inside... I don't know dude.

How do they do it like this man?

I'm here in Nakatsu eating Nakatsu Karaage man.

I've had Nakatsu Karaage in Kitakyushu

But we in the founding source of chicken man. This is the the home of this chicken man.

Dude.

You know, for just right now I'll forget that Famichiki even exists.

Alright, so we got Mentai Cream Potatoes.

This is mentaiko with heavy cream on french fries.

Damn!

Did you try this yet?

Try it, try it try it.

It's good.

Tell them.

It's good.

Oh it's...

That cream is pretty interesting. (That's what she said 😂)

I don't even know how to describe that.

Help me, my vocabulary is lacking.

I don't know but it is bomb.

Gotta skedaddle at like 10:30pm.

I got fried rice too.

Can we ask for more water?

Excuse me, can we get three waters?

Oh, the chijimi (Korean pancake) came.

Lexi: I'm full. Travis: I'm full too.

You're full? Already? Travis: Yeah

Dude I could keep going.

This is the first meal of the day for me. Yeah, me too.

You ate a donut though. Travis: Oh yeah, I did eat a Mister Donut

I had like the nastiest donut this morning. So I like woke up right?

I had napkins laid out on the table from last night.

So I take the donut out and I put it down on top of the napkin

She wears contacts.

Apparently she took them out on the table when she went to bed last night

So I grab the donut and I eat it and I'm like...

Why is this donut chewy?

I'm like.. I took it out and I'm like there's a contact stuck to the bottom of this donut. Ughh.

And I threw away the rest of the donut. But that first bite was alright.

Good job.

What kind of donut was it?

Travis: It was a... Chris: Pon-de-ring?

No.. they're like chocolate but they have this little yellow, looks like sprinkles on top?

Chris: Did you take a picture of it? Travis: Yeah, it's in my...

He's got a picture of his donut!

Yeah, that's a Pon-de-ring. Oh those? I don't know what that is.

There's a Pon-de-ring here on the top. That's the best doughnut in the entire world.

I don't care what anybody says. If you disagree, fight me. Come on, I will whoop you.

You know me personally, if I saw that donut amongst Pon-de-rings, I would not even look at that.

I know yeah, it looks like..

It tasted better with the contact, huh?

Yeah, it tasted better with the contacts.

I want a donut.

I love Mister Donut

One of the major stops when I come.

So Mister Donut is his major stop, Family Mart is mine.

Lexi, what about you?

I just like visiting ice cream shops. I woulda been happy with a Seventeen ice cream vending machine

Dude, what's funny is that we were trying to find this place

and we pulled into this parking lot for a Sega arcade or whatever

and I'm like "Hey look, there's a Baskin Robbins!" she's like "Holy smokes I didn't even know that was there!"

They call it something different here, right?

Yeah, it's just called 31.

Because it's thirty one flavors.

I don't think we have any other food coming.

Lexi, did you try this?

Oh no, I'm pretty full already.

What??

Man, I have to clean up after you guys?

But I will eat some mentaiko fries because these are pretty good.

Yeah, that cream is real nice.

Yeah dude. Whatever they put on those french fries. The mentaiko and..

Dude the guy said it was mentaiko and freakin heavy cream.

But it tastes like something else. Like some kind of cheese.

Yeah, it does taste like cheese.

Some kind of cheese but I can't put my finger on it.

But whatever it is, it is really really good.

You know those little cracker and cheese things?

Which one?

Lexi: It's like a little cracker... Travis: Ritz?

Is it Ritz? No, not Ritz. It comes with like some crackers and theres the super yellow cheese on the end.

It mildly tastes like that cheese. If you cut that cheese flavor in half, that's what that tastes like.

Travis: Cheese connoisseur... Chris: No no no! Not that cheese!

What's the cheese that comes in a can? Lexi: Cheese whiz?

Cheese whiz. Kinda. Kinda tastes like that.

So he was telling me that the very first video he watched of mine

Was the freakin crow picking the fur out of the deer's ass. And then that's what turned him on to my videos.

It was the beginning.

The beginning.

Alright Lexi, what was your first video?

I think it was the one that you found like the little shrine on top of a building? Chris: Yeah yeah yeah.

Yeah, that was the first one I saw. Chris: Yeah?

Yeah, I was like where the heck is this?

Alright, we're back out here with this crazy lighting. This is dope man.

This crazy lighting is dope dude.

Alright, how do we get to Nakatsu Station from here?

Chris: Well, I will see you guys again. Travis and Lexi: Shoots

Chris: This is not goodbye, this is just see you later.

Travis: Sounds good. Chris: I'll see you guys

Lexi and Travis: Bye! Chris: Bye!

Alright guys. See you later.

Alright, let's get the hell up outta here.

Here is your Charsiu Ramen

Chikifam.

You are not ready.

Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to compensate Korean plaintiffs for forced wartime labor.. - Duration: 0:59.

the Koreans firk forced to work for the Japanese firm Mitsubishi during World

War two and finally won in two separate court cases

South Korea's Supreme Court decided on Thursday in the first one to uphold a

lower court ruling ordering Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to compensate each of

23 plaintiffs in case they're deceased their relatives the court ordered the

firm to pay around ninety thousand US dollars for unpaid work at Mitsubishi

factories back in 1944 the Supreme Court reasoned that the 1965 agreement under

which Japan paid South Korea 500 million dollars to normalize their diplomatic

relations did not terminate the right of individuals to seek reparations in the

second ruling the court ordered Mitsubishi to compensate for elderly

women and a relative of a plaintiff who has died the five women sued Mitsubishi

back in 1999 in Japan but lost and filed another lawsuit in Korea in 2012

Rare Japanese Snake FOUND! - Duration: 5:46.

- [Coyote] Oh, snake, snake, snake right here!

(wildcat growls)

(intense music)

- [Narrator] Animal oddities have

always captured our attention,

and it seems that the more bizarre a species appears,

the more we as humans take time to stop and admire

those creatures that rarely find the spotlight.

The Brave Wilderness Channel has always taken pride

in its ability to get the Coyote Pack excited about animals

like giant ink spewing slugs,

alien-looking slimy salamanders

and nightmarish tooth-wielding worms.

If it looks like a creature from the Upside Down,

you guys absolutely love it.

Today we are exploring an ancient forest of towering trees

located in the Tottori Prefecture of Japan.

Considered the least human populated area in the country,

this environment is rich with animal bio-diversity.

From amphibians such as tree frogs.

- Look at the black mask running down

both sides of the face.

It's so cute.

- [Narrator] To slithering predators like rat snakes.

- [Man] I have a four line rat snake, a very bitey one.

- [Narrator] The reason this location has such an

abundance of animal activity, aside from its lack of human

encroachment, is largely due to its

life-giving levels of saturation.

Not only does crystal clear mountain water

flow completely unobstructed by man,

but the forests are also dense with vegetation

like ferns and mosses.

Ultimately, this yields the perfect combination of

environmental factors to support and keep hidden creatures

you wouldn't normally find anywhere else in the world.

And sometimes the best way to discover the unseen

is to simply look in the places that keep such creatures

hidden from sight.

- Oh, snake, snake, snake, right here.

Oh, look at that.

Mario, what is that?

What is that?

- [Mario] Let me see.

- What kind of snake is that?

- [Mario] Oh, that's a ground snake.

- A ground snake? - [Mario] Yeah.

- A Japanese ground snake.

- [Mario] It's pretty rare.

- Really? - [Mario] Yeah.

- Wow, okay.

Let's film something with this for sure.

Mark, we got a little ground snake.

Check that out, just underneath this log.

Flipped up the log.

Wow, non-venomous, right?

- [Mario] No, non-venomous.

- Sweet.

Wow, it almost looks like a rubber boa.

Look at that.

- [Mario] Nice.

- Okay, cool, let's bring it up here

off the side of this hill

and get it up close for the cameras.

Wow, what a fantastic find.

Now, this is the Japanese ground snake,

a species that is very seldom seen

because they're primarily fossorial.

As you guys know, fossorial means that

they live underground.

Now, when I flipped over that log and saw the snake,

at first I was like,

"Ah, it almost looks like a rubber boa."

It has a face that looks just like the head

of a rubber boa, and this is a very fragile species

so I don't wanna move it around a whole lot.

I want to try to keep it in one position.

This is a snake that needs to completely

stay out of sunlight.

In fact, if this snake were to find itself

out in the sunlight, it could die within

just a matter of hours.

Now, deep within the forest, this is the perfect location

to find a species like this.

You've got a lot of moisture.

You have a lot of leaf cover.

The perfect spot for a reptile like this to hide.

I know as I was walking around, I was saying,

"Man, I wish the sunlight was out

"so that it would bring out the snakes."

This is a snake that actually tries to avoid the sunlight.

Now, what's really cool is they have keeled scales,

and those scales are separated.

They don't overlap which gives it a beaded appearance.

And if you look at it from just the right angle,

it almost appears to be iridescent.

Watch this.

If I hold it up into the light,

Mario see if you can zoom in.

The snake is also semi-translucent.

Look at that.

You can see there's actually something

in its belly right there.

Looks like it's about the size of a small cricket

or maybe one of those little tree frogs that we've seen

jumping around.

Oh, that's cool.

We can see right inside of the snake.

Now, one way to easily identify this species,

let me turn it up in the air there.

Take a look at the black stripe

running down the dorsal side of the animal.

Wow, what a unique species.

Very tiny little eyes.

They probably have pretty poor eyesight,

only able to sense light and movement

because they rely on mainly on their tongue

to pick up chemicals within the environment.

Of course, they use that tongue to not only

detect predators but also to search for their prey.

Now, you may be asking yourself:

"Well, what does a tiny snake like this feast upon?"

Small amphibians and likely small insects.

Nothing very big would be able to fit

into the mouth of this snake.

Well, this is pretty special.

Coming here to the snake temple,

we managed to find one of the rarest snake species

we could have possibly come across:

the one and only Japanese ground snake.

I'm Coyote Peterson.

Be brave.

Stay wild.

We'll see you on the next adventure.

- [Narrator] The Japanese ground snake is

arguably one of the rarest snake species

you can encounter in Japan,

and we were unbelievably lucky to have

found this forest treasure.

We gently placed the reptile back in the exact place

where we found it

and continued our exploration of this ancient land.

It appeared that flipping decomposing logs

was yielding fantastic results,

and it was only moments later

that we unveiled one of the strangest things

we have ever come across.

Stay tuned for the bizarre conclusion

as we get an alien-like creature up close for the cameras.

And don't forget: subscribe so you can join

me and the crew on this season of Breaking Trail.

(howling)

Trying Indian Food in Tokyo, Japan! - Duration: 9:05.

Alright boys time for dinner.

It is dinner and we're hungry and we're bringing our appetites.

The area that we're staying in apparently has a lot of Indian food restaurants.

It does.

It does.

We've been walking by it a lot the past few days.

Not apparently.

It definitely does.

And we've got Indian food on our minds so that is exactly what we've going to do.

We're going to go to an Indian restaurant order a whole bunch of different dishes and

have an Indian food taste test.

What do you think Rob?

It sounds good I mean I've had Indian food taste tests a few times on my channel and

they are always fun.

I love Indian food.

Always fun.

You love Indian food.

And I know Audrey loves Indian food.

And if you're watching this you probably love Indian food.

Exactly.

Indian food in Japan guys let'd do it.

Choices, choices.

We actually have two Indian restaurants right across from each other.

I think we're sticking to this one just because it is on the right side of the road.

But yeah we can already see all of the different curries.

Vegetable curries.

Chicken curry.

Yeah, check out that menu.

Butter chicken.

Oh yeah!

Oh, lots of naan.

We're going to get after it.

Samosas.

We're going to get after it.

Lots of choices.

This is looking good.

Actually I think last night Sam tried to drag us in here but now is the time.

Haha.

So we've decided on samosas and chicken tikka so far.

What else do we have here?

We need some curries for sure.

Check this out.

Man there is just like options galore.

I need a vegetable curry.

Oh I like the paneer.

Take a look at this.

Okay so that is the problem.

We're at the chicken curries.

Look.

Vegetable curries.

Oh aloo gobi is also good.

Oh, palak paneer.

Okay.

Palak paneer.

Spinach and cheese curry.

And going over here la la lah.

We need to get to the vegetarian.

Okay one palak paneer.

Spicy?

Would you like to have?

Oh, we do like spicy.

Medium spice?

Medium spice.

One to five shall we say three.

Let's say three and a half.

Hahaha.

One vegetable curry.

Vegetable curry.

Let's make that one a four.

Oh okay.

And the other one you wanted paneer butter masala.

Let us make our own mistakes man.

Hahaha.

You never know.

Two.

I've ordered really spicy before and it is not spicy but you never know when you're going

to get burned literally.

Naan.

So we've have one garlic.

Yeah, garlic naan.

One cheese.

Oh yeah.

One butter.

It sounds good.

Yes, alright my friends what did we order?

So there is a cheese naan, a butter naan, a garlic naan, a vegetable curry, a spinach

one and a peanut butter one.

And then there is a chicken tikka and there is samosas.

So we're well taken care of.

We're well taken care of.

What are you most looking forward to?

I'm most looking forward to probably the vegetable curry.

I'm also looking forward to the one with spinach.

That is the one you ordered at level 4 spice.

Yeah, I'm also looking forward to seeing if I made a big mistake or not on the spice scale.

Hahaha.

Oh hard at work.

We're a little late to the party though.

That looks awesome.

It does look awesome.

Our stuff is being prepared right before our eyes.

Oh my gosh.

Sizzle me timbers.

Look at that.

Look at the smoke coming off.

This is what I'm talking about.

Chicken tikka.

(sizzle sounds)

What do you we have first?

Alright well we've got two dishes that have just arrived.

The first one the chicken tikka which is one of my favorites and we also had samosas just

arrived.

But let's focus on the chicken.

I'm going to steal Rob's knife because we've only got one knife at the table.

Yes.

But we'll make it work.

Can't ask for another one.

Hahaha.

Mmmm.

Wow.

Is it good?

I like the spice.

Yeah.

Juicy.

That was really good.

It is nice chicken.

You had a bite what did you think Sir?

I think it was good.

It was chicken tikka.

I don't know I was expecting a little more a flavour sensation or explosion or sorts

but it was good.

Alright, let's get a closer look at that samosa.

Let's do a turn.

I broke that bad boy up check that out.

So you've got some potato in there.

Some serious potato action going on.

Pees and a bit of corn.

A bit of pees a bit of corn.

You've go the veggies going on.

Vegetarian.

Let's try a bite.

I want to get some of that outer shell.

Are you a ketchup dipper?

Mmmm.

I would be if it was here yeah.

Oh it is.

Oh my gosh.

It is right in front of you.

Funny you should mention.

Jeez.

Jeez Louise.

Mmmm.

Crunchy on the outside with the shell.

And the potatoes are cooked to perfection.

Love all of those vegetables.

Jus the right amount of spice.

Yeah this is good stuff.

But I'm waiting for the curries.

Yes.

That is going to be the star of the meal.

The curry.

So what did the two of you think of the samosa?

It was good but I mean I'm a fan of the curry so I don't want to fill up on samosas.

The curry is definitely the star of the show and how about you Rob?

I think it is good.

Um the samosas is nice.

It is a samosa and in the future do I need to eat another samosa before curry.

Probably not.

Probably not.

But it is something nice to have.

Eyes are bigger than our stomachs.

It has got spice.

It has got a lot of potato in it.

Like what is this?

If you were to say I'm not going to eat all of these curries and have a chicken tikka

you could eat two of these and they'd probably fill you up.

Yeah.

Can we just talk about the size of the naan.

This is like a giant pizza slice.

Oh my gosh and there is a third another one.

Wow.

That is the cheese one.

Mmm.

Talk about that naan.

Hold it up nice and high.

Just look at this one.

The garlic one.

That is like twice the size of your head.

It is bigger than my head.

I know.

Wow and the curry is here.

Oh and here come the curries.

Oh ho ho.

Woah.

Mmmm.

Oh my gosh the paneer.

Now the full ensemble is here.

Look at that.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you so much.

So each of us ordered a different curry and a different naan.

I went for the palak paneer.

That is my favourite.

It is made with spinach and fresh cheese.

I'm going to need some form of cutlery here.

Actually no I don't.

That is what the naan is for.

Duh.

So let's just break off a piece of this and I don't know if you can see this but it has

got a bit of cream drizzled all over it.

Oh dunk it in.

Let's get in there.

Nice and green.

Like baby food green.

Green machine.

Green machine.

Oh hot.

Isn't that hot?

It is hot!

Hot hot hot.

Woah.

Is it good?

I forgot we asked for the spice.

Oh my gosh.

Is it hot?

This maybe the four.

They packed the spice?

That was spicy.

They packed the spice.

Alright Rob moving on to yours.

What did you get my friend?

The garlic naan.

Yep.

And I got a vegetable curry from one to five you can choose the spice.

Yeah.

I chose a four.

And I think it was perfect.

Almost top level there.

You know what I'm going to dig into this and show you guys you can see there is all sorts

of vegetables in here.

So you miss out on a lot just getting the naan.

Yeah.

And the spiciness?

The spice is bearable which means it is good.

Yep.

Like basically you want to push it as much as you can.

Eating spice is like a big night out.

You want to go as hard as you can without overdoing it.

Because if you overdo it it is all for naught.

But this is good.

I think if I went 5 it would maybe be a bit too much.

It has got a nice texture to it.

Alright Sam you've been waiting patiently to try yours.

Yes.

While you film us.

Check out this.

I've got the cheese naan.

And that is just jacked with a copious amount of cheese.

It is oozing from the outside.

Look at that guys.

Oh wow.

It is inside too?

Yeah, it is stuffed inside.

Oh my gosh.

It is stuffed inside.

It is like a cheese pizza sandwich.

And I got the paneer butter masala and you can see check out the big chunks of paneer

over here.

Oh my goodness.

It looks so good.

I'm just waiting patiently.

Oh yeah I'm just taking that in for a dunk.

It is going in for a swim.

Oh yeah.

Look at that.

This reminds me like the look of the pizza bianca in Italy where it was just dough.

That is what the naan looks like.

Oh my gosh that has so much flavour.

That curry is just so rich and spicy and savoury.

What level of spice did you choose?

Uh, I think it was only a three.

It is not like it is not burn spice just like a nice kick to it.

That is how I'd describe it.

It is really good and this is like some thick thick naan bread with the cheese.

Wow.

Alright, wrapping things up.

That was an official feast of feasts.

We are leaving stuffed.

We probably could have of like paced ourselves a little better and brought a little bit home.

Yeah.

We couldn't even finish all of the naan.

Yeah, we couldn't even take care of it.

That cheese naan was deadly good.

Deadly good.

So anyways the price was 4,450 Yen roughly about just over $40 US dollars so you're looking

at $13 US to $14 US dollars per person for that entire meal.

Japan to get first aircraft carrier since second world war amid China concerns World news - Duration: 3:13.

Japan to get first aircraft carrier since second world war amid China concerns World news

Tokyo will upgrade helicopter carriers, a move critics say violates constitutional commitment to defensive role

Tokyo will upgrade helicopter carriers, a move critics say violates constitutional commitment to defensive role

Japan is to acquire at least one aircraft carrier for the first time since the second world war, as it attempts to counter Chinese maritime expansion in the Pacific ocean.

The government will upgrade its two existing Izumo-class helicopter carriers so they can transport and launch fighter jets, according to media reports. The plans are expected to be included in new defence guidelines due to be released next month.

This week the Nikkei business paper reported that Japan was poised to buy 100 F-35 stealth jets from the US at a cost of more than US$8.8bn, a year after Donald Trump urged Tokyo to buy more US-made military equipment.

The reported order is in addition to 42 F-35 jets it has already bought from the US.

Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe, told Trump in September that high-spec military equipment would be "important to strengthen Japan's defences".

By refitting its two 248-metre-long Izumo-class vessels, which can each carry up to 14 helicopters, Japan would in effect be acquiring its first aircraft carriers since the end of the war – a move critics say violates its postwar constitutional commitment to a purely defensive role for the military.

Previous Japanese governments have ruled out acquiring aircraft carriers, adhering to the postwar consensus that the vessels' capabilities could be interpreted as offensive, in a possible violation of the country's "pacifist" constitution.

In its latest defence white paper, Japan noted that China had acquired and built aircraft carriers to enable it to expand into Pacific waters near Japan's outlying south-western islands.

Increased Chinese naval activity in waters far from its shores has added to bilateral tensions over the Senkakus, uninhabited islets in the East China Sea that are administered by Japan but claimed by China, where they are known as the Diaoyu.

"It's desirable that the Izumo can be used for multiple purposes," the defence minister, Takeshi Iwaya, told reporters this week.

The carriers will be deployed to defend Japan's remote south-western islands, according to the Mainichi Shimbun.

The defence white paper, published in August, also voiced concern about Chinese military spending and naval activity in the South China Sea.
