Hello this is the University of South Australia Library Service.
How can I help you?
Hi, I live in Ceduna and I'm studying online with UniSA.
I want to know how I can borrow books.
Sure, I can help with that.
You can request items and use our Off Campus Library Service to have books and other items
sent to you.
Is there something in particular you wanted?
I'm doing some volunteer reading at the local kindy and was looking for a children's
book called 'Shake a leg'.
I think the author is Boori Pryor.
I can take you through the steps.
Are you sitting at your computer now?
Yes I am.
OK, let's start.
Open the MyUniSA page.
Click on the Library website icon.
Can you see the search box?
Yes.
Just type in 'Shake a leg'.
Click the SEARCH button.
Select the title 'Shake a leg'.
Now click the "REQUEST" button.
Login with your UniSA username and password.
Ignore the Any Copy field.
Under the Pickup Location, choose Off Campus Library Services as your location
Click the Request button
And that's all I have to do?
Pretty much.
Now the book will be processed by the OCLS team and sent by courier – but there's
one more step for you.
When you've finished with your book, or when it's due back to the library, you return
it via post using the reply-paid postage bag.
Just put the book in, seal the bag and drop it off at your local post office or yellow
Australia Post postal box -no payment is required.
How long can I have the book for?
There's a handy guide on borrowing.
And you'll receive a weekly email telling you what you have out and when it's due
back.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
Yeah, I'm really interested in finding a book on healthy eating.
Let's see what we can find on the Catalogue.
First, think of some keywords that you can use for your search.
Now, type some keywords in the search box - try "health cooking"
Wow!
There are so many, and lots online!
So online means that's an ebook, right?
Quite a few of them are journal articles, but you can narrow or refine your results
using the menu on the left.
Click on Full text online under Show Only.
And Books under Format.
Good.
That's narrowed it down a lot.
5:2 Fast Diet Cookbook.
That sounds interesting.
If you want to look at this book, click on the Full text link next to Online in the record.
Since you logged in earlier, you don't need to log in again.
How long can I have an ebook for?
Borrowing times on ebooks vary, but you can read it online anytime.
And remember, if you have a membership with your Community Library, they also have lots
of resources you can borrow.
I can send you information on this as well as more about UniSA Library Services after
our call.
That would be great, thanks.
There's also an online tutorial for using ebooks.
I'll send you a link to the web page that go over the things we've been looking at,
including the OCLS service.
You can also contact Ask the Library by online using Chat or Email.
If ever you're on one of the UniSA campuses for your study, please visit the Library and
use the service point phone to speak with our friendly and helpful staff.
Thanks, I feel a bit more confident about using the Library online now.
Nukkan.
