After years of frosty ties,...

China and Japan are trying to make amends.

Beijing's top diplomat says China recognizes Japan has made efforts to turn over a new

leaf... and his country will do the same.

The two sides also agreed to push for a three-way summit with South Korea as the simmering tension

with North Korea persists.

Park Soyun reports.

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono sat down with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing

on Sunday to talk North Korea and their bilateral relations.

China and Japan have a long history of sparring over a series of territorial and historical

disputes,... but have recently been pushing to improve their ties.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed in November during

a summit in Vietnam to attempt a "fresh start."

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi acknowledged the Japanese government's strong willingness

to improve bilateral ties, saying friendly relations would be in the interests of both

countries.

"At present, Sino-Japanese relations are at a crucial stage.

There is positive progress, but many disturbances and obstacles remain.

China -Japan ties always sail against the current, either foreign ahead or drifting

backwards.

We attach importance to positive statements and remarks recently made by the Japanese

side regarding relations with China..."

Japan's Foreign Minister Taro Kono said China and Japan both have a "major responsibility

in safeguarding the stability and prosperity of Asia and the world at large" as the world's

second and third largest economies.

He emphasized the need to ramp up pressure on North Korea over its nuclear development

and the two diplomats confirmed their will to fully implement existing UN Security Council

resolutions on North Korea.

"I believe it's important not only to discuss issues related to the two countries, but for

Japan and China to stand side by side to deal with global issues.

In particular, the North Korea issues is now an urgent issue for the whole of international

society.

I hope to deepen bilateral coordination on such issues also, and make efforts towards

the resolution of such issues."

China and Japan also agreed to push for a trilateral summit with South Korea as soon

as possible, and to foster the proper environment for three-way talks.

Japan's Secret - Dark History: Episode 6 [SEGAGAGA] - Duration: 10:26.

The Japanese video game industry is world famous, contributing to the nation's standing

as the 3rd largest economy in the world.

But is something dark lurking beneath their perfect looking facade?

Japan has enjoyed success in steel, tech, science and automobiles.

Though one of their biggest exports comes by way of entertainment.

The video game industry has provided Japan with opportunities to ship their culture and

improve their image overseas.

In keeping with tradition, Japanese companies innovated on technology that was already in

use elsewhere.

Of course, with a little of their secret sauce, they were able to wildly succeed where others

were seeing massive failure.

(Game crash of 1983, Atari).

What was in that secret sauce, you might ask?

Well, it could be the fact that Japanese companies routinely work their employees to death.

That's actually not a metaphor, Japanese employees often work so many hours at the

office that they fall ill and die.

It's gotten so bad, and happened so often, that they had to add a new word to their language

to describe the phenomenon of death-by-work.

The word Karoshi gained traction in the 1980's and has become a regular in news headlines

ever since.

According to the National Defense Council for Victims of Karoshi, "more than 10,000

workers die from work related cardiovascular diseases each year", though admittedly the

number of official claims and court settlements is much lower.

But even that's only telling half the story.

Karoshi also encompasses those who commit sucide due to the mental exhaustion and endless

cycle of day-to-day work.

This is definitely a contributing factor to Japan's extremely high suicide rate.

NHK, Japan's largest news broadcaster, reports often on the changes that Japan needs to make

in order to avoid karoshi.

However, in October of 2017, little more than a week after publishing this (dentsu) article

decrying yet another karoshi victim, NHK revealed that in 2013 one of their own employees died

of karoshi after working 159 hours of overtime in a single month.

This problem runs incredibly deep.

So deep, in fact, that when companies try to amend their policies to help alleviate

the stress on their employees, they are met with resistance from traditionalists who take

the old adage "hard work is its own reward" a little too seriously.

It's not just the companies that are liable, it's the consumers as well.

To meet the demands of the consumers, companies drive their workers, and the government stands

by for the tax revenue.

Occasionally, when things get a little out of hand (i.e. people are dying), the government

or the consumers will blame the company and force the CEO to resign, but then it's right

back to business as usual.

It's easy to point the finger, it's harder to look in the mirror.

Are the corporations so greedy?

Or are the consumers, those desperate for the wants of their heart to be inexpensive

and readily available; the greedy ones?

It's a team effort, to be sure, but it's important to recognize that each step in this

process, the consumers, the corporations, the government, all bear a heavy portion of

the responsibility when workers livelihoods are diminished, and many are overworked to

the point of death.

In the video game industry, many current and former employees have spoken out about the

harsh treatment they received while developing some of your favorite games.

People like Keiji Inafune, designer and producer of the Megaman series at Capcom, Koichi Nakamura,

director of several Dragon Quest games at Enix, and many other developers talked about

how hard it was, and how much was required of them in order to finish what they were

working on.

Stories range from a tyrannical boss who was impossible to please, to employees regularly

going 3 or 4 days without sleep, even to programmers being locked inside of a room and not allowed

out until they had finished coding their project.

All in all, there is some seriously troubling history behind the development of some of

the most influential video games that have come out of Japan.

Josh Szczepaniak, author of "The untold History of Japanese Game Companies", has

compiled a list of video game employees who were forced to work under extreme circumstances

on a blog post for the website Gamasutra.

He discovered the use of what is referred to as the Hamachi, or "crunch room".

According to Tokihiro Naito, Developer of Hydlide: "When you entered the room, the door

was locked from the outside.

Sometimes we'd throw a programmer in there, lock the door, and say, 'We'll let you out

once you finish your coding!'"

Yasuo Yoshikawa of T&E Soft said: "I never went home for six months, working and sleeping

in the Hamachi room.

One Sunday I went home, took a bath, and went to sleep.

When I woke up I was blind.

I was terrified and someone took me to the hospital because I couldn't see anything!

The doctor said it was not a condition young people are supposed to get.

So I was ordered to take rest from work."

Turns out, most developers have a crunch room.

This is, of course, not to be confused with the isolation rooms I mentioned in my video

about the video game industries ties to the Yakuza.

Isolation rooms, like the ones used by SEGA, SONY, PANASONIC, HITACHI, TOSHIBA, and many

others, are essentially solitary confinement prison cells; empty rooms that employees would

be locked in for long periods of time either as punishment, or as a means to get them to

resign without severance benefits.

Some employees reported coming in to work every day for months straight and spending

the entire work-day in an isolation room.

After a hundred or so such days, most employees would become so disheartened and depressed

that they would give in and quit the company.

In 2016, the awful business practices of Konami came to light.

They began monitoring how much time employees were taking on lunch breaks and shaming those

who stayed out too long in public announcements.

The camera's in Konami's offices aren't meant for security, but to constantly monitor

the staff as they work.

Employee's email addresses are routinely changed to random letters and numbers every

few months.

When one employee leaves the company, Konami monitors their related social media posts

and reshuffles other employees who like or favorite them within the company.

People who aren't seen as useful get reassigned as janitors and factory workers, presumably

to get them to resign, similar to the function of an isolation room.

Konami is gaining a reputation as a Black Company.

Black Companies are well known in Japan for having a high rate of harassment, unpaid overtime,

extended work hours, discrimination and short-term employment contracts.

The government has posted a list of hundreds of black companies with the likes of Dentsu

and Panasonic topping it off.

These companies have become well known for their poor treatment of employees, and even

inspired the annual Black Corporation Awards.

One interesting side note is that the winner of that award for 2017 was actually 7-Eleven.

It appears as though even foreign companies, when moving into Japan, quickly adapt to the

local customs.

Black Companies, are, of course, not to be confused with Dark Companies like Hyde, who

have worked on games like the Final Fantasy, Yakuza and Persona series; yet have never

been credited for their work.

Some Japanese companies, in order to maintain the illusion that they themselves made the

entire game you're playing, will pay smaller companies upfront for work, but not offer

them any credit.

These smaller companies are considered Dark because they help make the games you enjoy

in the shadows, while others get all of the fame and accolades.

Some of these companies are in Kyoto, and are seen as supporting acts for Tokyo or Osaka's

main studios; but most of them are actually overseas.

Japanese companies want the work these overseas companies provide, but not the negative image

that many Japanese consumers have of games made by foreign companies.

As a result, these names go uncredited.

Now based on everything we've seen here, I want to bring up an old video game called

SEGAGAGA.

This is a video game about making video games.

It follows a young talented director who needs to put together a team and make a hit video

game before the company goes under.

It plays as a typical RPG along the lines of Earthbound.

The dungeons in the game are the rooms where game developers are.

You see, due to high stress levels of gaming developers, the company locks their employees

in a room to keep them from getting out.

The programmers start acting 'strange'.

They begin turning into monsters because they are only getting 2 hours of sleep per day.

Your job is to go into the dungeon, and insult the artists and programmers to 'beat'

them into submission and get them to work on your game.

The game was being made in good fun, but it reflects a real culture that these employees

often face.

It's basically SEGA making fun of itself and the practices prevalent within their industry.

It came at the end of the Dreamcast era, so SEGA was trying to make a statement about

how hard the gaming industry is, what the employees go through to meet deadlines, and

how tough it is to make games.

Perhaps the most difficult aspect of this whole situation is how much pride salarymen

take in working such long hours.

If you've ever seen the Netflix documentary Jiro dreams of Sushi, you'll know what I mean.

It truly is inspiring to see so many people dedicate their lives to perfecting their trade.

But, that life is not for everyone, and the culture demands so much of people sometimes

that some people just aren't able to make it.

This isn't a problem unique to Japan, but it is one that Japanese society seems to have

a much harder time solving.

Japan, having such a foothold in the video game industry, has influenced the worldwide

market that has to try and compete with them.

Japanese people identify heavily with their work, and often, when working long hours,

they're doing it of their own accord.

That job is their life and they are going to put everything they have into it.

Just like they've been doing for thousands of years.

YOKKO // Japan Documentary 2 - Duration: 14:31.

I am the kind of person that often fears to miss something..

..when I am travelling with the band..

I could miss moments with my friends..

..with my family

5 years in a row, we were seaminglessly working

on our 1st and 2nd album..

somewhen in the summertime

this year..

I even announced my resignation from the band..

I've never felt like having doubts

but..

I wanted to catch up with many things I've missed in the last five to six years...

birthday parties of my closest friends I missed out for instance..

I had the urge to be part of all these events...

Music is so incredibly present everyday...

..a project you live for..

..at some point it gets so intense

that you imagine to jumping back to your everyday life...

picturing what your life would be like without music..

that's when you realize pretty quickly why you go on

...it defines who you are..

and I find it extremely intense what happened to mats and the thinking process he went through...

...and realizing that music is still one of the biggest parts in his life....

...and at this point he was struggling with himself

We all know that these barriers exist and that they always play a recurring part on our journey.

That's one of the reasons why we've learned to bring up things and talk to each other

rather than caving in an waiting until the shit hits the fan..

Looking back now...

..it was probably the best thing I could do..

I learned to focus on myself and the others.

I gained a new, broader perspective on everyone else who's working with the band

and I've asked myself..

what is it about making music that brings me joy.

what is it about touring with the band..

Does it even bring me joy?

I mean, many don't even reflect and think about that...

I really like to see that he stepped up to the plate and didn't try to avoid the confrontation....

I think that's how every note you play becomes real and authentic

It has a reason..

You realize that every song you play, every minute you spend on stage...

..is time you could spend with your families and friends..

every show means being away for a whole day...

from home

...and every fucking tour means that you have

to take days off from your regular job..

..and I'm not talking about the kind of days off where you laying on a beach

sipping on a caipirinha...

But everytime when someone comes up with doubts...

I think...

when we can face these barriers as a band...and overcome them together...

This brings us even closer together

And I think that you can feel that kind of energy in our Music..

I think you see when a band has lost this particular magic...

...when it has become just a job..

That's where music comes from...

from the constant battles in our lifes...

at least what I can tell from my experience..

that's how songs come into existance..

out of these situations ...

..where not everything runs as smoothly as you may have planned it

When you get pushed down to the ground and you have to get up again..

..that requires a lot of strength and

I think that, in a way, every album is an expression of these kind of processes in our lifes..

Our second album certainly such a process..

Everyone realized that "TO THE FIGHTERS. TO THE BOXERS" ...

was not just a flowery phrase..

It was an essential question we asked ourselves...

Can we go all in?

Yet we have big goals...

tomorrow's the last show of the tour...

..and we really wanna throw in everything we have..

a few important promoters and journalists will attend the show..

and we really have to bring them in...

We want to connect with as many people we can...

and to share our music..

so that we can come back someday...

HARRY: It was a real pleasure to see ...

how devoted and professionally the band acts on stage...

and their passion in what they do is really extraordinary..

Especially Adi's appearance on stage is what people liked the most...

...his charism and edgy style

That's something the japanese audience is attracted to..

Ladies and Gentlemen,

this was the fifth show in Yokohama...

we're extremely exhausted...

but also very happy

It was one of our best shows we've played so far..

Let's drink to that!

We're laughing a lot

We're really having a great time..

although we're on the road now for 12 days with the whole team...

Mats and I are sharing one tiny bedroom

and yet we're having a blast to be on the road...

Awesome!

unbelieavable

I don't know...

We're now in the 7th floor...

so the must be in the 9th floor...

I thought that they would wait for us..

On this tour, music has become an even bigger part of my life...

generally spoken...

with Yokko but also in my life..

I think that I have more energy to make music than two years ago...

Pascal: Where does this come from?

Hard to say..

Everyone gets at this point where...

everything's suddenly clear..

There are certain things that become clear in your life..

I always knew that I wanna be a musician...

..and I'm also working on this dream for a very long time..

I realized that not only Yokko connects me to music, to this dream...

but rather my whole life..

..my girlfriend..

..you..

..the boys..

actually the fact that music even exists connects me with music..

The longer we've been on tour...

..the more I've realized what I have in doing this...

..and that I totally dig what we're doing..

Especially when you're touring abroad

and you realize that your music amazes other people..

..that you can bring joy to other peoples lifes...

people from the other side of the planet from a completely different culture...

...and you get all these beautiful feedbacks...

...from people who love and appreciate what you do..

Our Atlantic Wave-ish kind of music...

..full of energy and power...

from frenetic highs and dynamical and spheric lows...

The japanese audience really liked it..

This was wonderful to see...

...and it proved us right

We all have actually no idea how this all really works...

We're just doing it and keep going on..

..as good as we can..

That's Music..

Fucking bastard!

Top diplomats of China and Japan agree to improve relations, cooperate on North Korea - Duration: 1:59.

After years of frosty ties,...

China and Japan are trying to make amends.

The two sides have agreed to push for a three-way summit with South Korea as the simmering tension

with North Korea persists.

Beijing's top diplomat says China recognizes Japan has made efforts to turn over a new

leaf... and his country will do the same.

Park Soyun reports.

In a rare move,...

China and Japan have decided to put their differences aside,... and get on with handling

issues surrounding the region,... especially those stemming from North Korea.

In a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Japanese counterpart Taro

Kono in Beijing over the weekend,.. the two sides agreed to push for a trilateral summit

with South Korea,... and to resume reciprocal visits.

"North Korea is now an urgent issue for the international community as a whole.

I hope to deepen our bilateral coordination on certain issues... and hopefully resolve

them as well."

Appearing to be on the same page,... the diplomats emphasized the need to ramp up pressure on

North Korea over its nuclear development and they confirmed their respective wills to fully

implement UN Security Council resolutions on the regime.

The two also saw eye-to-eye on the need for a trilateral summit with Seoul, Beijing and

Tokyo,... tentatively looking at some time in April.

On the issue of their bilateral ties,... the two diplomats agreed to resume reciprocal

visits by their leaders,... underscoring that Asia's two largest economies are eager to

mend ties in the year marking their 40th anniversary of bilateral ties.

Relations between China and Japan have long been tense-- over historical issues and their

territorial dispute over the uninhabited Diaoyu islands, known as the Senkakus in Japan--

in the East China Sea.

The islands are controlled by Tokyo,.. but also claimed by Beijing,... and military tensions

often flare up in the area.

X-Japan - 紅 Kurenai Reaction 1997 Live | Level Blue - Duration: 6:16.

Hey guys it's Mira. It's been a while since I've done X-Japan video. It's been like at least 3 month

And I've been thinking about one song in particular to make a throwback video for... for weeks now

It is 紅 from their Vanishing Vision album, 1988

If you are new to my channel, I've already made a throwback video for Endless Rain

and Forever Love songs. So, it is only right to finally make one for 紅

But before I get into the video, I need your help here guys, especially from my Japanese friends

I kind of want to start a vinyl records collection with like X-Japan, L'arc-en-ciel, Spitz, Gazetto

and all the legends in there. Like I'm not a big collector, quite the opposite

I am an extreme minimalist in terms of my possessions

But music and wine is something I can make an exception for

I've looked up online, but I couldn't find much. It seems like many of them don't have records pressed on vinyl

I have found a couple on Ebay and that's pretty much it. So, if any of you know where I can buy

or order it, please let me know. Like where do you get this kind of stuff?

Do you have it like in music stores in Japan? Or...yeah let me know.

Now going back to 紅, I have found a live from 1997, it's the last live with Hide

I haven't seen it in years. So let's go back in time and watch it together

Like, imagine how it would sound on a vinyl record

Shoot! It makes me very emotional. Every freaking time I watch something old from X-Japan, it's like that

Aaaaah look at that look!

Man, they've started it all

I wish the quality of the video was better

I have to say, instrumental in this songs makes it all for me

See...that's what I a talking about

Yoshiki is the beast

Legit have goose bumps right now

I've read somewhere that it was Hide's favourite song

The band is a legend, this song is a legend and event the red stage for this song is legend.

I also love the version with Yoshiki playing intro on the piano, accompanied by violin

and then Hide plays his guitar solo. Aaah! So good! They left such a legacy.

Smash the like button for X-Japan. Still very much loved and not forgotten

The other day I saw the photo on Instagram of Yoshiki and Hydo from L'arc-en-ciel in the recording studio

sitting together and I kind of freaked out. Like is that a hint from them that something is coming

or is that a wishful thinking I don't know. But, I am still waiting

Let me know in the comments you favourite X-Japan song

the one that get mentioned or liked the most will be my next X-Japan throwback video

Thank you so much for watching guys, subscribe for more j-rock videos

and I will see you in my next one, またね!

Ask about Japanese FEMALE : Ask visitors from foreign countries in JAPAN. - Duration: 8:14.

Very conservative, very well dressed, and very well mannered.

It's a lot of freedom of expression and everything over here.

More eccentric than in France, than in Paris.

There is more freedom.

Hey guys, it´s Cathy Cat!

And today we are going to ask foreigners

what they think of Japanese women and comparing them with their countries.

So let's go and ask foreigners in Japan!

Okay, let's start! Where are you from?

-Mexico. -France.

Mexico too.

What is your very first impression of Japanese women, compared to women back home?

They are like more cute and tiny. I don't know...

Cute and tiny, compared to the ladies in Mexico?

Yeah.

Sometimes I just want to look like some Japanese woman.

But I can't because my thighs for example of shape of my body is very different because I'm European, so...

Sometimes it's difficult to wear Japanese clothes.

But that's okay, we can find like this so...

That's okay.

And I really like Japanese culture.

And Japanese women, they are more beautiful than some French girls I see.

Sometimes.

Love their fashion sense and their makeup. For some reason I really like it.

What do you what specifically do you like about the makeup or the fashion?

I don't know, I think it just looks so different from like, my country.

So, I don't know. It just catches my eye.

Okay, where are your from?

China.

Well, one thing I think is different in China.

A lot of girls like to wear shorts jeans.

Yeah, I think that is more western style.

While really here people are more into, like

long pants, long skirts.

-That's... -Different fashion style?

Yeah, yeah.

-Where are you from? -Melbourne and Cairns.

-I'm Cairns. -Melbourne.

And this is your first time in Japan?

Yes, it is.

Very conservative, very well dressed, and very well mannered.

Yeah, I agree with all of that.

Yeah, just that. Very clean, very well presented.

Like, the kind of fashion than Japanese women wear, would you be able to wear that back home?

Yes, yes. It's modest compared to Australian.

Yeah, I was wondering what you meant with modest. What is different? How it's like...?

A lot more long-sleeve shirts...

Not so much skin. Collars are a lot more higher.

Yeah, so just a lot more modest.

Right! There's actually not much cleavage going on, is there?

No, no. Definitely not!

Okay, are we ready? Let's go!

Where are you from?

Texas.

Right, Texas. Where are you from?

Also from Texas.

Right, both of you!

We went to Texas, we went to Houston the other day. Woohoo!

Everyone's like really nice and polite, and I just love everything.

It's just so very cute and lovely, it's beautiful here.

Comparing to back home in Texas and women back home in Texas

What do you think is different?

It's a lot cuter.

It's a lot of freedom of expression and everything over here.

I think they're a bit more shyer than us.

Like, we have like really loud voices, and they have like nice cute soft voices.

Okay, let's go! Where are you from?

I'm from Poland.

-Where are you from? -I'm from India.

Right! Is it your first time in Japan?

-Yes, the first time. -Yes, it's the first time.

Actually, here girls are very modern.

They wear very colorful (items), so they are really amazing.

Right. Wear different styles?

Yeah. Different styles, different...

It's everything different!

They're a short while of from India .

So they look... look pretty.

But Indian women are still beautiful.

But she's too beautiful.

You're very polite, thank you

Where are you from?

We're from France.

France! Paris?

-Yeah. -Wow, Paris!

First time in Japan?

Yes, first time.

Um, the style?

I'm think they're more ballsier maybe.

The looks are more eccentric than in France, then in Paris.

There is more freedom.

I think so.

Shops are crazy as well.

There is a lot of stuff that is amazing, and...

Tokyo is crazy in general, and especially here.

It's a good representation of Tokyo, these streets.

Where you from?

Well, I'm from Germany.

We could speak in German where we decided to speak in English.

For the sake of the video, you know.

Exactly!

Easier for the subtitles as well!

A lot like you see in different videos

Like they're, very friendly and...

Also what surprised me, what is very different from the European way

What is very different from the European way is like, the way they act.

Expressive, you know.

In a certain kind of way.

Have you had any good experiences?

Most of them like, were really friendly and kind toward me.

Like in the club

They like, sort of started talking to me and...

Well!

It's pretty nice

Tell me your airplane story.

Eh, okay.

When I went to Japan. I met a woman on the airplane

and she offered me to, I think 11 hours where we could just speak and

talk about our hobbies and every different things.

So we kind of became friends

and she let me put my backpack and in her place.

Instead of just like, you know

yeah, instead of going to a locker or having to put it somewhere else

That's so nice!

I'm so glad! Are you still friends?

Yeah, actually she showed me around.

She showed me at the very first day.

We landed on

at Narita Airport at, I think it was 8 a.m. in the morning.

I think it was Wednesday.

Together we went to her place then to Asakusa.

And she showed me around the whole day.

And she showed me the Imperial Palace and...

It was amazing!

She showed me different places that are

Like, the hidden spots

And she also told me about you know, the Pasmo. You know?

Yeah, it was very amazing actually.

I've just been blown away by Japan right now.

Like, I'm here for two and a half weeks and

It's amazing!

You made such a good experience! I'm so glad you made such a good experience there.

Wow, good point there!

Thank you so much!

So!

What do foreigners in Japan actually think about Japanese women, or girls hey!

Everyone was saying that they're very cute and very fashionable.

And very. You know, very kind and mannered and things like that.

I can totally second that.

I can totally second that.

There's nothing even I could add to that.

One thing I would like you to think about when you make friends with Japanese women is again

don't forget the culture. Never skip the culture!

They might be really cool, they might be very shy.

There are all types of girls here in Japan, and woman in Japan

But also make sure they know how to read the air.

which means they're very very caring, generally.

I've had that a lot

that they are very caring they think about you a lot, they make sure to help you out.

But be sure that you actually return that (favor) as well.

So what I've seen is some Japanese women will never actually say something

if they feel like you're treating them wrong, and they will keep that in for a while

and then it will just come out in one big explosion!

Well, they just won't contact you again anymore...

Little hint. For example, if you get invited two times to an event

For example, two different events and you turn it down twice. Be sure to say;

"next time, I'll invite you"

They kind of like go, and you know, make sure that they'll invite you again.

Always try to keep the line going so you can create friends

and maybe, you know, if you're looking out for a girlfriend.

Always be sure to, look out for them as well. Do not only think about yourself!

So that's one of the things I'd like to add!

Generally...

So I hope that was good for you to know.

How about you? How are the women in your country

Compared to women in Japan from what you've seen from what you've heard.

Let us know. Looking forward to reading what's different in your country.

And, I wish you a lovely day. And I catch you soon on Ask Japanese.

Bye!

Top 10 Freaky Things That Only Exist In Japan - Duration: 7:48.

Hello!

Welcome back to Most Amazing Top 10, I am your Most Amazing Host, Rebecca Felgate and

today we are talking about the Top 10 Freaky Things that Exist Only In Japan.

Before we get into this video, I just want to remind you that if you aren't yet subscribed

to Most Amazing Top 10, you should go for it right now!

If you are subscribed, then turn on that big, beautiful notification bell!

Okay, back to Japan!

I am all about the weird and wonderful, and Japan is filled with it!

What crazy things can there that pretty much don't exist elsewhere?

10 - Horsemeat Flavour Ice Cream Riiiight.

Japan gives zero efss about the Horsemeat scandal, the Japanese are not above eating

horse.

In fact, they embrace tasty horse so much that they have even turned horsemeat into

an ice cream flavour.

I am not sure about meat ice cream flavours as a whole… it's pretty off putting to

me, but horsemeat…ergh.

Each to their own though.

No judgement!

9 - Toilet Slippers So, these are slippers that are solely worn

in the toilet.

The Japanese culture is pretty different to western culture in many ways, including shoe

etiquette.

In Japanese homes, outdoor shoes are left in a special transitionary room, and indoor

slippers are worn, however the indoor slippers are different to the toilet slippers.

These are left out in homes, and household dwellers and guests alike are supposed to

wear them when entering the lav.

If you forget to take them off and walk around a Japanese home in toilet slippers, you will

be mercilessly mocked.

8 - Expensive, Funky Shaped Melons Ohhhh haaaai there 27 thousand dollar melon!

It had better be delicious!

Speciality fruit is hella expensive in Japan, with some fruits considered luxury items.

Fruit farmers in Japan spend many laborious hours cultivating fruits for consumption.

They aim to make crazy things like square watermelons or aesthetically totally perfect

pieces of fruit.

This strawberry is the size of a tennis ball and costs over 4 thousand dollars.

This bunch of bright red ruby grapes sells for 800 bucks a bunch, but in 2016, a pair

of premium Hokkaido Cantaloupe's sold for 27 thousand 240 dollars.

That is insane.

I personally tend to by the misshapen fruit in the grocery store because I feel sorry

for it.

Still delicious, just much cheaper!

7 - Baby Mop Like, fair, I guess.

If honey is going to be crawling around the floor anyway, they may as well make themselves

useful, although a few people are up in arms about it.

Also….the commercial is genius.

6 - Arguably, this hare-brained Japanese invention creates as many problems as it solves….we

have an Armpit fan Thanko's electric armpit clip on cooler

fan is a fan you clip on your shirt sleeves to cool your underarms on a hot day.

It is battery operated and quiet so that no one will hear the tiny fans at work.

Pit sweat, be gone!

The only problem is that, sure, people may not hear the fans, but they are likely to

see them clipped on to your apparel.

Plus… they only really work for short sleeved items…

Maybe just…wear black instead?

5 - Hello Kitty Contact Lenses There is something pretty sinister about these

Japanese Hello Kitty Contact Lenses!

Eyes are….well…eyes…so what is Hello Kitty doing there!

These 58 dollar lenses are popular with teenage girls in Japan…imagine looking a 14 year

old girl in the eye and seeing they were pink and filled with tiny cats.

Have you ever been on the subway and thought…like…I really need to rest my chin.

No, never, right?

None the less, the Subway Chin Rest is a thing and it is here at number 4

I guess the idea here is to allow you to sleep standing up on a long journey home.

The problem is, is that even though it is aimed to give you a place to rest when there

is no place to sit, it takes up a reasonable amount of room itself.

Also….trains are jerky, sleeping on the chin rest is all very well and good, until

the train gets bumpy or turns.

Also… like… what is the world coming to if we have to sleep using chin rests on the

subway.

Bed…people.

Bed bed bed.

Freaky, but I am all about this, we have a Lonely Persons Pillow at number three

Awwwah.

If you need a hug, but there is no one to give you a cuddle, you can buy this lonely

persons' pillow… which…

ow.

It is basically a pillow in a shirt with an arm to put around yourself.

Some weirder and more expensive versions of these pillows come complete with a heartbeat.

That is kinda sad, but also kind of cute, however, the version for men is a lot freakier.

Men seem to have taken to buying a pair of disembodied thighs to sleep on…often called

the Lady Leg Pillow.

The leggy pillow comes complete with a miniskirt in black or red and flesh like kneely stumps

to lean on.

The inventor of the lady lap said what could be better than a pack-away lap to soothe those

occasional bouts of homesickness.

Taking a darker turn at number 2…..Japan has A Suicide Forest

In mount Fuji's shadow, lays a dark, scary place.

Aokigahara forest is 13.5 square kilometres and home to a lot of sad stories, for this

is what is known as Japan's Suicide forest.

This forest, for some reason, is the most popular suicide destination in the world.

Some say at least 100 people a year kill themselves here.

Freaky and very sad.

Okay, bringing it back up to freaky and kinda happy, we have the Japanese Penis Festival

at number 1 In April, Kawasaki celebrates The Festival

of the Steel Phallus.

It is a celebration of the penis and fertility, during which portable penis shrines are paraded

down streets and revellers wear pink wave penis memorabilia, people can even light Penis

Candles.

There also some pretty graphic Penis lollipops…and there is no age restriction on consuming them.

So…Japan!

Aside from the suicide forest, this list makes me really want to go there!

What do you think is the freakiest thing on this list?

Let me know in the comments section below.

For now, I am your host Rebecca Felgate.

Where to go in Osaka? Osaka Kushikatsu Daruma and Shinsekai | Japan #29 - Duration: 11:30.

Right now, we're here at the same place. Where the Burger Girls suppose to be.

But then the burgers all gone already. No more girls here. So...

So f*** that s***, let's just get the f*** out of this place.

This place is just right beside the Osaka Tower, so...

So let's go in!

F*** the price, let's just go in. 300 to 800 Yen is alright.

- It's about 400 Yen. - It's a stick.

Huh?

- It's all sticks. - Isn't this ramen? - It's all fried food on sticks, lots of people here. - Let's just get some to eat. Let's go.

- You sure? - Two.

I thought she's pointing the peace sign.

- Whoa, so how are we gonna eat ? - I don't know.

Apparently, this place is a very good, high end, barbecue place.

Now we have our menu.

Let's get the one with nine sticks. Set A.

- 888. - Nah, let's not look at these. We're not gonna have these, it's 888 Yen!

- Alright, let's get this. - Let's get this, set A.

So apparently this place, it was crowded. It was...

- Very crowded. - Very crowded, a lot of people are lining up just now before we head up to the tower.

- So right now after coming down, we wanted to try this place for our dinner. - Yup.

You see? People are still pouring in, so...

And there are people who are waiting on the side, you see? So...

Let's check out their kitchen.

- I don't get it. - Me too. - We don't get it.

- Just like that? - Yeah, set A. - Nine sticks, right? - Yup. - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is together, 1300 Yen.

- You sure... Are you sure this is for dipping? - Yeah, I saw the others dipping it.

What if they told you it's mouthwash?

Who's gonna wash it with this?

I saw the others doing the same thing.

- Is it good? - Yeah. - What's this?

- Egg. - Egg?

- This is an egg? Oh, mini egg. - Yeah. It's good.

So hi guys, we've just finished eating at the restaurant right in front.

And it's a very very good restaurant, but if you have no money...

And if you're hungry, then don't come here.

But if you are... If you want to try good, good, very very good barbecue style...

I mean, not barbecue style, how do you call that? What did we eat just now?

- Fried. - Fried what? - Fried food with... - Fried food with a stick. Sticks.

Sticks...

Sticks food.

If you wanna try good quality stuff, better to head there and try and have your dinner after visiting this awesome...

Osaka, is it Osaka? What tower is this?

I keep forgetting the tower, It's just some tower.

The tower is also not very worth it, but then... Yeah, so...

- Where are you going? There's a car coming! - Let it pass first. - You f***.

See this guy? Wanna take worthy Instagram photos he took so long, you see?

Hey, can you be quick? Can you be faster? There's no time already, you know?

Go over, go over. Yeah, yeah, go go go.

1, 2...

Last, 2... Okay.

Whoa f***, that's a lot of breaths just for taking photos.

- Help me, you do double jobs. - Double jobs. (Holding two cameras.)

1, 2...

- Wait for a second, you d***. - Now you know how I feel, you...

1, 2...

1, 2...

Okay. Come, quick. 1, 2...

Okay, steady.

Steady.

Yeah.

Is he crazy?

Whoa, you scared the cat.

We gonna head to that street and have some awesome window shopping...

Because we just ate and we spent a ton of money. F***ing no money already. So...

Let's go!

Yeah, this is the street that I'm talking about when we're on top.

And what the f***, I saw ice creams! S***!

- What am I suppose to do? - Can you resist it? - What should I do?!

- Hey! Don't delete it! F*** you! - I know! I wanna see the proper one.

- I'm not deleting. - There's no proper one.

- Didn't you take it? - I didn't. - F***er!

Okay, I just took a 100 shots, should be enough.

What the f*** are you doing?!

I think that place is like, jackpot but they don't put or insert physical cash.

- But instead uses balls as their... Yeah balls, literally those... Steel balls. - Metal.

- Metal balls. - Steel balls? - As credits.

It's a little bit like...

- Those Pinball games. - Yes, something like that. - Just ding ding ding ding... Then yeah...

Do it again, do it again. What's that?

- It's like... - No, what's that sound again?

- Just ding ding ding ding... - Ah, very good.

Then apparently I think once they get into some... Holes.

- Then they will... - Oh my god, then you'll have babies, right?

How long are they gonna take to count the whole bucket?

- This is the fun part. - I think it's too hardcore. - It gives you the sense of achievement. - Achievement of getting lots of balls. - It's 1 Yen per ball.

I think it's 10K Yen per bucket. Because I saw 10,000 written on the bucket.

Right now we're gonna go to the Tombori River Cruise.

So without further ado, let's do the jumping sequence and jump over there.

- So, are you ready? - Of course! - Okay! 3, 2, 1...

This building, right? You see, now it's pink because it's the cherry blossom season so it's pink.

- Are you sure? - I'm sure! I just saw the brochure. - Okay. - It says...

- Different months of the year and it will have different colors. - I thought you're bulls***ing.

- Oh man, how can you say that? Even if I'm bulls***ing, can you not expose me?! - It hurts! - Now you know how it feels. Let's go.

I didn't hit you and you hit me! It hurts a lot!

Argh, it's so painful I'm gonna puke.

Are you serious?!

Come here, come here.

China and Russia THREATEN Japan after enforcing claim to South China Sea with military - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 3:16.

China and Russia THREATEN Japan after 'enforcing' claim to South China Sea with military

MILITARY threats have been made by China and Russia towards Japan by sending aircraft and

naval vessels into Japanese territory as the dispute over the South China Sea rages on.

Tensions have been rising as China has become more aggressive in its territorial claims

in the South China Sea.

The Communist State has disputes with five separate countries over several islands and

waters in the South China Sea that they claim to control.

At the heart of the feud between China and Japan is a dispute over the Senkaku Islands.

The Senkaku Islands are a group of uninhabited islands under Japanese control, but that are

claimed by China.

Beijing calls the land the Diaoyu Islands.

Richard Weitz, a senior fellow and the director of the Center for Political-Military Analysis

at the Hudson Institute, has explained that China wants "to enforce their claims"

by ensuring foreign planes acknowledge its capability to control airspace and the waters

of contested territory.

He also said that Russia is motivated by "monitoring US military activity in the country".

Russia's conflict with Japan also concerns the Kuril Islands.

The Kuril Islands were historically part of Japan and were taken by the USSR in the final

days of the World War II.

Zack Cooper, a senior fellow for the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, has

claimed that China are being prevented from being more bold by the the US-Japan alliance

and the superiority of the Japan Self-Defence Forces (JSDF).

The US is obliged to defend Japan if it is ever attacked by a foreign nation.

Cooper said.

"If the US-Japan alliance did not exist, the Chinese would be pushing much much harder."

He also said: "Both countries know that given the scale and pace of China's military

modernisation, it's just a matter of time before China is able to outclass Japan in

most areas of the military competition."

While China, Taiwan and Vietnam all claim the South China Sea's islands belong to

them, US military officials have long argued the region should be open for other nations

to travel through.

China has previously described US decisions to sail through the waters as behaviour that

"threatened the sovereignty of the South China Sea countries".

In September last year Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said: "For some time now,

some countries have used the pretext of freedom of navigation to bring their planes and fleets

near the South China Sea.

"Actually, I think this is behaviour that has threatened the sovereignty of South China

Sea countries."

Top diplomats of China and Japan agree to improve relations, cooperate on North Korea - Duration: 1:58.
