Hi guys, I wrote a whole number on the piece of paper

After that I subtract 20 from the number then multiply it by 20

Add 18 and

Finally divide by 18 as a result. I got the initial number. What is the number?

Mark initial number as X

top-right number as X1

bottom right number as X2 and bottom left number as X3

X1 equals to 2X minus 20

X2 equals to 2X minus 20 multiply by 20

after removing the parentheses we get

20X minus

400

X3 equals to

20X minus 400 plus 18 and it equals to 20X minus 382

And

Finally when we divide 20X minus

382 by 18 we obtain the initial number X so we have an equation

To simplify it. Let's multiply both sides by 18

On the right side of the equation we can simplify the fraction

After this, we get 20X minus 382 on the right side.

Group X numbers on the left side

We get minus 2X equals to minus

382

Divide both sides by -2

So X equals to 191 and that's the correct answer to the problem
