Auto news on Youtube Dec 28 2018

Hello and welcome back. This video will be in German language.

I add English subtitle.

Japanese and French.

I met my friend Maxie. She is also a Youtuber.

She has the channel "German in Tokyo"

I will link it up here.

We are talking about German Christmas Customs and Japanese Christmas Customs.

This will be very interesting for my German viewers.

At the same time, if you are learning the German language, you can try to understand us.

Or just read the subtitle with us.

Let's go!

Martina: My name is Martina.

Maxie: Hello

Maxie: Today, we are talking about German Christmas chocolate and Christmas sweets. Martina: Christmas sweets.

Maxie: Do you know the brand Lindt chocolate? Lindt chocolate taste so delicious.

Maxie: It's a little bit more expensive than the usually one.

Martina: Lindt is available in Japan. In Tokyo is a Lindt Cafe. I think in .... Maxie: Shibuya

Martina: In Shibuya or Harajuku. Maxie: Yokohma as well. Martina: True.

Martina: However, I do not know, if this Christmas chocolate is available there.

Martina: This chocolate you got from Germany, correct?

Maxie: Yes, this one is from Germany. A fine filling with a touch of cinnamon and coriander.

Martina: Well, everything which has to do with cinnamon will taste like Christmas.

Maxie: True, it taste like Christmas for the German palate.

Martina: We are eating duck at Christmas Eve.

Maxie: Duck?

Maxie: In Deutschland, ja das ist wahr.

Martina: In Germany we (my family) eat duck for Christmas Eve.

Martina: What is your family eating for Christmas, Maxie?

Maxie: We often eat Fondue.

Martina: Yes, meat Fondue, correct?

Maxie: Fondue is a Christmas Meal. Especially when you sit with your family at the table.

Martina: Meat or cheese Fondue?

Maxie: We did meat Fondue or Raclette. Raclette is also with cheese.

Martina: True, Raclette is very yummy.

Maxie: I think Fondue is similar to Shabu Shabu. However, the meat is different.

Martina: The meat is filet. This will be fried in oil.

Martina: After you fry the meat you dip it in a sauce.

Martina: For example garlic sauce or mayonnaise or paprika sauce. Well, many different kind of sauce.

Martina: Sometimes these are home made or not from the shop.

Maxie: Correct and in your imagination, Fondue is similar to Shabu Shabu but in a German way.

Maxie: Raclette I have not seen in Japan, or?

Martina: I do not know, I have not seen it, yet.

Martina: Raclette is actually a hot stone. On top you can grill your steak or vegetables.

Martina: Under the hot stone you can put little frying pans filled with cheese.

Maxie: Correct.

Martina: That is so yummy, I am getting hungry.

Maxie: Yes, we are both hungry.

Martina: We have as dessert lemon creme (every year). It's a little complicated but still simple (?!)

Maxie: We had small slices of salmon on bread.

Maxie: Christmas we eat Fondue and after that we get our gifts.

Maxie: As children we didn't like to eat first because we were so excited to find out what we get as a present.

Martina: Didn't you go first to church?

Maxie: Yes, correct, in the morning you go to church. After church is lunch or dinner and after that finally presents.

Martina: This is on the 24th of December.

Maxie: Yes, the 24th, in the evening.

Martina: True, in the evening.

Martina: In the US you celebrate on the 25th of December Christmas and you will get your gifts in the morning on the 25th, after you wake up.

Maxie: Well, in Germany always on the 24th of December in the evening.

Martina: Correct.

Maxie: This is funny. Back in the day my family used to go united to church. My parents and us.

Maxie: Recently, my sister had to pay church tax and she didn't like that, so she left the church.

Maxie: What that means, she is not going to church anymore.

Maxie: So we went with one family member less to church.

Maxie: Actually, in Germany a lot of people go to church on Christmas, even if they are not religious. It is custom.

Martina: It is custom.

Maxie: Yes, it is somehow German culture.

Martina: Let's talk about the Christmas tree. When do you put the tree up?

Maxie: We always buy a real Christmas tree, firstly.

Martina: A real one.

Martina: No plastic tree.

Maxie: No plastic tree, no no.

Martina: Also real candles or artificial one?

Maxie: We have fairy lights.

Maxie: I think we buy the tree two weeks in advance.

Maxie: We had a hook at the ceiling to hang the Christmas tree.

Martina: A hook?

Maxie: Correct, we hang the Christmas tree on a hook because if you try to put the tree in a tree stand, this is to exhausting.

Maxie: A few years ago we went to the Black Forrest and cut our own tree.

Martina: Did you pay for it or did you steal it?

Maxie: No, of course we paid.

Maxie: There was a sale which promoted "cut your own Christmas tree".

Martina: Well, I lived on the country side. I have 3 siblings.

Martina: We went 2 or 3 days before Christmas with our father to the forrest, at night.

Martina: Torch light, my father always said, we have to be careful not getting caught.

Martina: We got a small Christmas tree.

Martina: This is actually not allowed.

Maxie: Actually people buy Christmas trees.

Maxie: Especially if you live in the city. You will buy your Christmas tree.

Martina: Of course.

Maxie: The countryside has different customs sometimes.

Maxie: I hope you have fun at Christmas.

Maxie: If you want to know more about Christmas in Germany, please ask and write a comment.

Maxie: Please let me know if you did not understand it. This is also interesting to know.

Maxie: Please write something, I am happy. See you next time.

Maxie and Martina: Bye

Weihnachten 2018 in Japan | JVlog - Duration: 13:37.

Hello everyone and welcome to my weekly Video.

As you may can hear from my voice, I am still having a cold.

I am coughing for over one week now and my voice also is struggling with this.

Today it is a little bit better. I hope my voice is staying until the end of the video.

We will see if it is working. But I should better start now

before I talk too much and my voice is already gone again.

Christmas is already over, but I still want to make an After-Christmas-Video,

because before Christmas I can't tell you how we spent our Christmas time.

That's why today, on the Friday after Christmas, there is a "How we spent Christmas in Japan" video from me.

On my blog there is a small article, too. Feel free to take a look there.

There are some more topics inside which I will not talk about in this video.

So when you are interested, take a look there.

I splitted this video in five points which I will show you here first,

so you already get an impression what this video will be about. Tada~

And now I would say, I simply should start.

First is the topic: Holidays for Christmas in Japan.

Because this is quite different to what we know from Germany.

In Germany we have two public holidays, and let's say a half. So two and a half.

So Christmas Eve and the two Christmas Holidays.

In Japan there are no holidays.

Luckily until now the emperor's birthday was celebrated on 23rd December

and such as this year when the birthday was on a Sunday and in Japan we have the rule

that public holidays which are on a Sunday bring a day off on Monday.

That means, we were lucky this year and 24th December was a public holiday

and we had a long weekend.

December 25th and 26th are totally normal working days in Japan.

I actually also had to work on 25th, but with my current voice at a kindergarten

where I have to speak in a loud and strong voice the whole day and sing and dance - this was not possible.

It is already exhausting to simply speak for 1~2 hours, which it is probably taking today,

to finish up this video. This is already hurting my voice.

From the coming year the tenno is going to resign and we will get a new emperor

and because of this the Emperor's birthday is also going to change.

I still have the minimal hope that the 23rd is going to be a public holiday

that they are leave it or do anything else, but officially December 23rd won't be a public holiday anymore

and so there won't be any public holiday around Christmas next year.

That means 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th - it will be a completely normaly week in Japan

and I guess so even more of the Christmas feeling is going to be lost.

Question Number 2: Who do you celebrate Christmas with in Japan?

In Germany it is a huge family festival when everyone comes together and eats a lot.

In Japan Christmas is rather a festival for couples, because on Christmas Eve

or on December 23th as we are always doing it, you spend time with your loved ones

and go out for a nice dinner and have a wonderful date.

Nowadays, also families with children are celebrating Christmas,

but it is still not so common. Especially for the older generation.

Christmas is still the festival for couples and not a huge family festival.

This is going to be at New Year.

Question Number 3: What do you eat for Christmas in Japan?

From Germany you know about roast goose on the Christmas holidays

and sausages and potato salad on Christmas Eve.

This is different in Japan. Here, for many Japanese people, KFC is on the top ranks.

I am not a fan of it, that is why I have never been to KFC for Christmas.

But KFC had a great advertisment several years ago and this is still in the head of many Japanese

and so they are simply running to Kentucky Fried Chicken and buy their chicken there.

They even sell some special boxes with limited Christmas specials there.

My husband is also a fan of chicken and wanted to go to KFC,

but we don't have a shop close to our home.

At the end he bought chicken at the supermarket, which is also delicious and fitting,

because supermarkets are also joining the hype

and are offering chicken and more for Christmas.

For me, the Christmas Cakes are more important,

because I have a sweet tooth and totally love sweets.

Traditionally Christmas cakes are creme cakes with strawberries - the popular Strawberry Short Cake.

And this one is decorated nicely for Christmas.

Within the years this for sure evolved and now there a many cakes

you can choose from for Christmas. Whether chocolate cake or anything else.

The choice is really huge.

We have been out a bit on 3th and around the shopping streets you could see

how many cakes were offered. You could see all the choices and this was really interesting.

Which cake we had this year, you will get to know at point 5 of this video.

We also got a bit away from the usual cakes

and ordered a really special Christmas cake.

Let's come to point number 4!

How does it look like during Christmas season?

This is there we come a bit closer to German, because everythere you can see sparkling and blinking.

Illuminations are very popular during the whole winter and you can find them nearly everywhere.

There are even some only for Christmas, which means they are already over now.

But there are many illuminations lasting until the middle or end of February, too.

So if you are coming to Japan soon, you still can see the beautiful sea of lights.

For sure you also can find Christmas trees at many places which are sometimes decorated interestingly.

We just have been to Sanrio Puroland and there they had Christmas trees with Hello Kitty and Cinamoroll.

Those were very cute though.

But for sure also at the supermarkets and shopping streets ou can find a lot of decorations

because Christmas is and stays the main time of commerce.

People go shopping. They buy Christmas presents. Everyone spends a lot of money.

And for sure every wants to join in.

Even sausage packages or choco packages are changed into Christmas style.

This year I even saw egg packages with Santa Claus on it.

Nearly everything is made Christmassy

even though the background of the Christmas story is rather unknown for most of the Japanese people.

Because there are not many Christs here and Christmas mainly is about

the tall big man in his red and white clothes bringing presents to children.

So, Christmas is quite different. I especially like all the illuminations here.

And they also have some Christmas Markets which you can visit.

Unfortunately I only could visit a small one this year.

When I went to a concert at Saitama Super Arena, there was a small Christmas Market in front of it

and I took a short look around and treated myself to a Bretzel.

Apart from that I didn't have enough time.

We have been at Christmas Markets in Japan for several times and I would say my top 3 are:

the Christmas Market at Akarenga in Yokohama, the Tokyo Christmas Market at Hibiya Park

and I also liked the Christmas Market in Osaka under the Umeda Sky Building.

So when you are in Japan around Christmas, take a look there.

There are a lot more Christmas Markets you could visit.

They are a lot more expensive than the German ones, but it really is an interesting opportunity

and at least you can get a bit Christmas feeling in Japan with this.

Let's come to point Number 5 on my list: How did we spent out Christmas in Japan this year?

Because I am sick, we nearly erased everyting I had on my list.

I was actually thinking about going to Christas Market and seeing some illuminations,

but I was coughing about every 2-3 minutes and it was really annoying.

That's why we spent nearly all of our Christmas at home on the couch.

On 23th December we had a reservation at Schmatz in the evening.

This is a German-inspired restaurant chain which already has some shops around the wider Tokyo area.

And we went to the one in Kichijoji. Before this I stopped by the German bakery to buy some bread

so I could at least have a little traditional German breakfast the next two days.

We also went shopping at the Rilakkuma Store where we spent a bit too much money.

And then we had our German-inspired dinner.

I had a Schnitzel with cheese and French fries with cheese sauce.

My husband ordered the pasta of the day and we had a nice evening there.

December 24th we spent really easy going.

We didn't had any plans. I was staying at home the whole day.

I was even wearing my pyjama the whole day, because no one was going to see me anyway.

We ordered pizza for the evening which we had for dinner then

and as dessert we had the highlight: our Christmas Cake!

Same as last year we ordered a Rilakkuma cake.

Last year we had a creme roll, this year we had an even more special cake.

It had two layers.

On top there was some kind of cheesecake and under this there was a strawberry creme cake.

The cake was quite huge for us and so it took us 3-4 days to eat it after dinner.

But it was really very delicious

and I am already excited what kind of cake we are going to have next year.

I then had a discussion with my husband about when to do the gift giving.

Because for sure he was knowing the American - English version

of opening the presents on the morning of December 25th.

I was staying with my family traditions

that gift giving is after dinner on 24th.

So, that means we were giving us our Christmas presents then.

This year it was not a big surprise, because we told us earlier what we would like to have.

I, for example, wanted a scarf from Rilakkuma, which was a bit to expensive for me,

so it was nicely fitting as a Christmas present.

Furthermore, I was hunting a Rilakkuma hat which was suddenly sold out at all shops

and my husband tried to get it secretly somewhere online.

However, he told me about it when he made it.

This is the lovely hat I was talking about - with the two ears.

It is really super cute and super soft and super warm. I am really happy that I got it.

For my husband I already bought the Christmas present during our trip to Kyoto.

He got a Rilakkuma necktie which he is going to wear from time to time now.

I am excited how it will look like, because he didn't wear it so far.

But I think this is going to happen soon.

And because my husband is a huge fan of Umaibo he got a big bag of Umaibo.

It is filled with small umaibo sticks and now he can enjoy eating them.

There are different tastes inside and I hope he is going to have fun with it.

We received amazing presents from Germany this year, too.

I want to say thank you for this one more time.

When the 10 kilo packet arrived the other it was simply wow!

I opened it together with my husband and we both were totally speechless.

Thank you so much to the lovely people who sent us all the presents.

We are totally happy about it and for sure we are going to return the favor.

I think I have now said everything I wanted to tell you about. I hope I didn't forget anything.

As I said, there is an article on my blog there I wrote about

how we spent our Christmas this year. Take a look there.

Because here I am only about the two Christmas days which we celebrated,

and my article is about the whole December - how I tried to make it a bit more Christmassy

This year is going to be over in 3 days and so this is my last video I am going to upload this year.

For sure, I hope you enjoyed it

and even ore that you had fun with all my videos I uploaded during this year.

I wanted to work more on my YouTube channel this year

and wanted to upload a video once a week.

I finally started to get into the rhythm even though it is still a lot of work to do every time.

The current plan is one new video every Friday. So please take a look here once a month.

This would make me really happy.

Also if you didn't subscribe to my channel now, please subscribe to it now

and turn on the red bell to get an information when a new video is online.

I wish you a all a great start into the new year.

In the first week I am planing to upload two videos.

When everything goes well, one video comes on January 2nd and one video on January 4th

and the topic certainly will be Fukubukuro, the lucky bags which are coming out for New Year.

One video I luckily already could finish.

This one will be together with my husband, which also will be a premiere on my channel.

And I hope the other video will work out well, too.

Please also stay with me in 2019. That would make me really happy.

For the end of this video, why don't you tell me how you spent your Christmas days,

what was your favorite present

and also what kind of videos would you like to see in 2019 from me.

I am open for your suggestions and try to make what I can for you.

And so I simply say Goodbye and hope to see you again next year. Bye bye! (^w^)~

S. Korea expresses dismay over Japan's misleading video of alleged radar 'targeting' - Duration: 2:24.

Seoul and Tokyo have been disputing whether a South Korean warship used its targeting

radar to lock on to a Japanese plane.

The nation's defense ministry expressed dismay over Japan's release of a misleading video

footage containing conversations of the pilots.

Park Ji-won has the latest.

South Korea's defense ministry has expressed dismay at Japan's release Friday afternoon

of an edited video.

The video contains only conversations between Japanese pilots and footage shot from the

Japanese aircraft,... without providing any substantial evidence of the frequencies used

by the radar in question,... even though that could help Japan prove its claims.

South Korea's defense ministry stressed that the destroyer Gwanggaeto the Great was on

a normal rescue mission, reiterating that, unlike Japan has said, it did not use its

targeting radar, the STIR 180,... but a different one, the MW-08, which is used for searching.

The ministry also pointed out that Japan has not explained why its plane was circling the

Korean destroyer at such a low altitude and in a menacing way in the first place.

"It is very disappointing that a Japanese patrol aircraft was conducting a low-altitude

flight that could be threatening to a South Korean ship focused on a humanitarian rescue.

The video released by Japan simply contains scenes of the plane circling over the sea

and conversations between pilots.

It does not provide objective evidence for Japan's claim that the fire-control radar

was aimed at the plane."

Officials from Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed that the Japanese aircraft flew

at an altitude of only around 150 meters above the South Korean ship,.. which is the lowest

such an aircraft can fly safely.

It is very unusual for a patrol aircraft to get so close to another country's ship, which

is why the ship used the optical camera attached to the radar to observe it.

South Korea's defense ministry, however, has stressed that despite Japan's disappointing

claims... it will maintain a cooperative defense partnership with Japan.

Christmas in Japan 2018 - Duration: 14:29.

This Christmas Video on how we spent our Christmas in Japan has 3 parts.

The first part is our Christmas day on the 24th of December in Japan.

We are celebrating without our children

Basically, we walk our dog.

That is normal.

But what is not normal or different to other days, is that you go with the whole family.

Since we are only two people, ok we are only two, this is as usual.

Then we are cooking together duck and baking apple pie.

The reason for baking apple pie this year is because I received so many apples from my mother in law.

We had late lunch. Around 2pm to 3pm

And after that we basically walked again. We didn't go to church.

And than we start drinking.

And we watched a movie.

I can't even tell what kind of movie we watched.

Do you remember what movie we watched?

Oh, a Matt Damon movie.

Downsizing

It was early bed time.

And then the next day we were suppose to meet friends. They canceled last minute.

So we went for this really cute restaurant in Yokohama. This is close to Bay Quarter. We had lunch.

It was Italian fine dining.

It was affordable. Not to expensive.

Basically, that's it.

A day later we went to Kyuchu.

You will see this in one of the next video.

We spent 4 days and 3 nights in Kyuchu.

The next part or last part of the video is about Maxie and me talking about Christmas in Japan.

What Japanese usually do on Christmas.

Since Christmas is not celebrated as in Europe because there are not so many Christians around and the Culture is just different.

In general you eat Nabe in December.

And of course. Very famously mentioned in almost every video (about Christmas) in Japan.

Japanese eat Kentucky Fried Chicken.

And have Christmas Cake.

The biggest celebration of the year is Shogatsu.

I wil make a video about it at another time.

I just received our meat delivery from the Meat Guy in Tokyo.

I have lamb and duck. Duck is for Christmas.

Merry Christmas. Today is the 24. of December.

And I am (and my husband) preparing now our Christmas Dinner.

This is duck.

I bought in from the Meat Guy in Tokyo.

I try to find red cabbage in a glass but could not find it.

So, what I do, I will make it myself.

I bought two quarter of a red cabbage.

And I have raisins here.

For the duck I have some bacon. This is the first time that I prepare just the breast not a whole duck.

We are only two person and a whole duck would be to much.

I will wrap the duck breast in bacon.

So the duck will not be dry.

And I want to show you this.

My mother in law sent us lots of apples.

Therefore I will do apple cake today.

Not struddel.

I like to have dough, apples and then cream or something like that.

With raisins and cinnamon.

I will do this right now.

Charly

Bye bye, have good holidays.

We are at Sogo.

This is a delicatessen food court.

We are buying something for our dinner.

Martina: Hello

Maxie: Today, my German friend is here. We will speak German.

Maxie: Please study German.

Maxie: Today's topic is Christmas.

Martina: Christmas.

Maxie: We will talk about Christmas in Japan.

Maxie: And what German think about Japanese Christmas.

Maxie: Yes, I think Tokyo Christmas is very nice.

Martina: Yes, you have all the Christmas decorations and lights up in Tokyo and Yokohama.

Maxie: Yokohama is very nice. Have you been to Yokohama?

Martina: Yes, I have been to Yokohama.

Maxie: Where have you been so far?

Martina: I went to the Christmas market in Yokohama, Minato Mirai.

Maxie: Have you been somewhere in Tokyo?

Martina: I went to the German Christmas Market from the German Kreuzkirche in Tokyo.

Maxie: OK

Maxie: I have been to Shibuya. That is very nice. The decoration is beautiful. The Christmas light up is really beautiful.

Maxie: If you have not been to Tokyo for Christmas yet. It is worth to go.

Maxie: It is very different compared to Germany.

Martina: Yes, it is more a celebration for couple in love.

Martina: You go with your boy friend or partner to view the light up and take photos. Maybe there is a heart light up and you pose under it.

Martina: Holding hands.

Maxie: I think in Japan it is more a friends festival but in Germany it is a family celebration.

Martina: Christmas is a family celebration.

Maxie: In Japan, what is very interesting, everybody eats Christmas Cake.

Martina: Christmas Cake

Maxie: I think we do not eat cake (in the same fashion as Japanese).

Martina: Maybe for coffee time at 3pm?

Maxie: True, maybe for coffee but Germans baking lots of cookies (and eat rather cookies than Christmas Cake).

Maxie: Japanese eat Christmas Cake. This surprised me a lot.

Maxie: Also the think about eating Kentucky Fried Chicken on Christmas.

Martina: Yes, Kentucky Fried Chicken, yes.

Maxie: This is very funny for us. Well, in Germany, most of the houses have (big) ovens. If you are motivated, you can make your own Goose.

Martina: True

Maxie: In Japan you buy your Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Martina: True

Maxie: What I really like is that Tokyo is so sparkly. It is pretty.

Martina: For the ones who do not know Tokyo around this time of the year. There is no snow. That's why the light up is so beautiful.

Maxie: Yes

Maxie: Of course if you drive up to Sapporo or go further up, there is lots of snow now.

Martina: West Japan and up to the north.

Maxie: Yes. Well, if you feel like coming Christmas to Japan, this might be very interesting.

Maxie: But if you are Japanese, I recommend to go to Germany. Take a look at German Christmas Markets.

Martina: Yes, Christmas market in Germany.

Maxie: You will find in every city a Christmas Market. Every city tries hard.

Maxie: It is also very important to buy your Christmas presents for the family.

Maxie: A lot of people buy Christmas presents on the Christmas Market.

Martina: Or before, sometimes 1 month ahead (people buying Christmas gifts).

Maxie: True. On the Christmas Market you can drink mulled wine,

Martina: True.

Maxie: It is very cold outside.

Maxie: Because of the cold outside, you do not drink beer. Of course, there are exceptions, some people drink beer.

Maxie: It is really cold outside. Usually you are wearing a hat and a scarf.

Martina: Actually you meet friends on the Christmas Market. Drink some mulled wine or eat a sausage or buy some sweets or perhaps a Christmas gift for someone. Depends.

Maxie: Well, if you are interested. On Twitter I am showing in the moment Christmas photos from Germany.

Maxie: Please take a look.

Maxie: Are you on Twitter as well?

Martina: Yes, I am doing Twitter. Most of the time I tweet about food.

Martina: I do have Instagram and post Christmas photos from Japan and Germany.

Martina: If you are interested, please take a look.

Maxie: All the information you will find in the description box.Thank you for watching. See you next time. Bye.

Martina: Bye
