I'm just super excited and super grateful.

It was very hectic trying to balance the education with also playing a sport,

and then being involved in residence life, and student government, and campus activities.

But I'm very thankful for Newman and it's made me the person I am today.

In high school I wasn't really involved in anything but sports, and then Newman really brought that

out of me, of getting involved on campus and trying to make a difference.

So what's next is I will be applying to med schools and God-willing, get in.

So tell me about this.

So I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah, and this is a

tradition back home when you graduate people will make you leis and sometimes

there'll be candy sometimes it'll be money just different things in them and

it's just one thing that my family came out and they wanted to kind of keep the

tradition going.

So what was your experience at Newman like?

I loved it. I transferred from a junior college and both of them were small private

schools and it's just something that I really enjoyed. The community feel and

the small classrooms, and the teachers were wonderful. I loved it.

Were you also an athlete?

Yes, I was I was a baseball player. I enjoyed it. I

mean playing baseball and the NCAA is always fun, no

matter what division you're at. And I just was trying to find the perfect fit

for me, and Newman was that fit.

Academically, did you find it to be kind

of a challenge? Did you find it to be a good fit for you? Did you learn

what you wanted to learn?

I thought it was a very good fit. The junior college I

went to was a top academic junior college in the country so that was that

school is really hard and so I think it kind of made Newman a little bit easier

for me. It made things easier for me getting my

bachelor's degree. Then I mean it's just enjoyable. I want to be able to work

in a Recreation Department kind of help kids enjoy sports the way I did as a kid

and I mean without sports I wouldn't have been able to go to school, and so I

kind of want to be able to give that opportunity back to the youth.
