Auto news on Youtube Feb 19 2019

hey I have a question for you when was the last time

you punished yourself what did you do wrong

do you think about it as part of self-discipline

well this episode is the first episode in the

series self-discipline where we might see

self-discipline in a different light more about that

right after the intro welcome to the day 1 journey

episode 112 chi-ching yeah well when was the

last time you punished yourself yeah punished yourself

do you see that as self-discipline

how do you define self-discipline notice it is self discipline

not just discipline many of us think about discipline

as we associate that to soldiers to very tough routines

to things that we don't want to do right

it's that self discipline for you or is that just discipline for you

interesting well let's go a little bit back

in the day one journey let's talk about communication

cause see this is no discipline this is the SELF discipline series

self is the discipline we want to have with ourselves

yes a little bit communication with ourselves

do you remember when we talked about it in the daily

routine the three basics the third basic was communication

you can check the link there for the communication episode

but where does it all start where does it start

our work on our communication it starts with ourselves

with the conversations we have with ourselves

think about it maybe this has to do with

self-discipline because this is disciplining ourselves

maybe this is some sort of a relationship

does it make sense to you maybe it does give it a moment

self discipline discipline we want with ourselves

you know what we spoke about relationship

let's take another example I'll give you another example

it might shed a light on what I mean by that

with a discipline over self this self discipline

ready for the example let's say you came to me

or a friend came to me and talked to me I think that

really happened in the past so I have this friend coming

to me and they say they are married

and they say remember this is diving in

into a relationship example to see what's the self discipline

is about but be with this with me

with this example pretty interesting

so that friend comes to me and he tells me you see

me and my wife we just don't have the love for each other

we used to have and we have two children

and we are really worried about them what can I do

he asked me so I asked him what do you

mean the love isn't there just love her

but then says you don't understand the love just isn't there

we don't feel that way towards each other anymore

so I tell him if the love isn't there that's a good reason to love her

if the love isn't there that's a good reason to love her

but then he looks at me and says but how do you love

when you don't love so I told him

you see love the feeling is the fruit of love the verb

so love her work for her appreciate her sacrifice for her

do things for her compliment her

raise the her up be good for her

do more things for her put some effort

are you willing to do that this is what I was saying

to my friend think about it can you

relate to this idea love the feeling is

the fruit of love the verb so what this has to do

with self-discipline what this has to do

with self-discipline do you have any idea

we said self discipline is also about communication

communication with ourselves right we have a relationship

with ourselves right I see self discipline as self love

do you love yourself enough to do things for you

love the verb you see many of us me included

was thinking are thinking or were thinking like

do I love myself I don't love myself

maybe I wait for that feeling to come

like this couple like this friend of mine

he waited for the love feeling to come

but the feeling of love love the feeling is

the fruit of love the verb you do the things

do you love yourself you can do things about it

do you love yourself enough to do something about it

think about it by the way the bigger the thing that you do

let's say a relationship let's say you get a present

for your life partner you get them a present

is it the bigger present or is it the bigger effort

that means the most love it is the effort it is the thought

it is what you put inside right so now think about it

towards yourself you have a relationship

towards yourself what are you wanting

to do for you will you consider it love

loving yourself if you find it a little bit

challenging you can think about your future self

yes think about your future self what do you wanna do

for your future self do you love them

do you love enough to put some work

you see it is so empowering because we can choose

yes we can choose to love ourselves

we can choose to love ourselves because this is action

we can do something about it we can put some effort

if we love ourselves and we want us to have energy

we can go to the gym we can start doing sports

we can do this walk and the bigger the effort

the bigger the love right then after a long time

we put some love we put some action we love ourselves actively

then we can look at the mirror and say yeah that was me

we can see the results if this is Fitness we can see

this is me yes and be proud of ourselves

because we love ourselves we put some action

we put some effort maybe it's not necessarily

going for that massage which is nice

it's still loving yourself but maybe the effort

is not that high but when we do the hard stuff

right when we resist our desires our basic desires

but then we do it long enough which is just more effort

we do it long enough and then we reach

what we wanted to reach yeah then we look at the mirror

we say to ourselves yeah we got there

yeah this is me we got there

this is self love this is what I urge you to do

love yourself put some action put some effort for you

yes for you this is what self-love is about

self-discipline don't wait there and think to

yourself do I love myself

do I not love myself put some work

put some work for your future self this is my message for you

for the day think about it

this is just the first episode this is just the first episode

of the self discipline series in the next few episodes

we will look at self discipline even from different angles

yeah different empowering angles the first one was this episode

was self love so my message for you for the day

right before the back to you love yourself

express your love for yourself in action do things for you

love yourself more than you love your desires

love yourself more than you love your desires

you can also check out the episode when we spoke

about the three basic basic desires most

responsible for our lack of self-discipline

check that link above the desire for food

the desire for sex and the desire to express

loosely organized opinions but either way

we're really out of time next episode we'll keep talking

about self-discipline but back to you

back to you my friends the assignment I have for you

for the day pretty powerful I want you to think about something

something that you can do for yourself

and now you can think about it as a small act of love

self love think about maybe something small

but something that does require effort maybe resisting that extra cake

maybe do this walk maybe calling this friend

but for you something for you think about something

think about a small effort that you can put for yourself

and put the label consider putting the label:

"small act of self-love" express your love for yourself in action

love yourself more than you love your desires

this is my message for you for the day

do this assignment today and of course

of course have an amazing amazing yeah

day one

Building self-esteem Workshop | Play & Learn Session with Călin Bârleanu at ASSIST Software - Duration: 1:22.

I was glad to find out that ASSIST Software

is a very suitable place

for dialogue

and exchanges of ideas.

There is no doubt

that we are facing all kinds of preconceptions,

when we think about people

working in this industry

as close minded

or more dedicated

to their work

than anything else.

I'm really glad to see lots of people open to discussion,

passionate

and curious.

People willing

to make an effort

when it comes to personal development.

Because, undoubtedly ...

it is an effort

we have to make

and which we must undertake.

And I'm happy

that I've discovered

such a „fertile" space here.

here at the National Farm Machinery Show

in Louisville, Kentucky with

the ZR5-1200 self-propelled baler.

Now you can save your tractors

to do the job they were meant to do.

The first of its kind, the ZR5 self-propelled,

zero turn baler makes quick work of the field.

We're offering an unprecedented level

of operator comfort and maneuverability.

The ZR5 self-propelled baler helps

reduce the number of manual steps

to make a bale to just one.

All an operator needs to do is push go

when the operator chooses to bale in automatic mode.

The suspension system within the ZR5 self-propelled baler

allows operators to better handle

the uneven ground conditions

that naturally come with baling hay.

Operators will experience a smooth, comfortable ride

with a cab uniquely positioned over the suspension.

The ZR5 cab was built with wide visibility in mind

with a camera to see both the baler pickup

and the rear view of the machine.

The ZR5 self-propelled baler's

zero turn capability and innovative design,

coupled with its 200 horsepower engine

helps operators to get the maximum benefits

in their hay operation.

Rallying at speeds up to 12 mile an hour in the field

and up to 30 plus mile an hour in transport mode,

this machine is built tough and specifically designed

for one job, baling hay, forage, and even corn stalks,

unlike tractor baler combinations.

Get ready to go big time with the ZR5 self-propelled baler

and change the way that you put up hay.

This Lingerie Company is Making a Statement about Self Love - Duration: 2:57.

For so much of my life I've been told that there is this one narrative of what

sexy and confident is and I never felt that I could fit into that.

I want to encourage women to really you know break down the narrative that they've been

raised to believe that isn't true that they aren't good enough or that their

value is how they look physically but their value is who they are, what their

heart stands for and there's so much more to all women than just our physical bodies.

I'm Mary young and I am a CEO and designer, speaker and self-love advocate.

Fashion has always been something I've wanted to get involved in from a very

young age I was always obsessed with clothes I actually wanted to be a model

when I was like four or five and then I kind of broke it down at age six why I

want to be a model and I realized it's because I loved the clothes.

I actually started making clothes for my Barbies. I was like crocheting like

dresses and backpacks and things for them which eventually led me to making my own clothes.

The biggest thing that I want to focus on when I launched Mary Young

was to encourage women to feel good about themselves.

For me clothing of any category has always been to make you feel more confident.

Most competitors of ours, it wasn't about making someone feel

comfortable, it was about reshaping the body into what the industry or what

media said was sexy at that time.

What makes Mary young the most different is just encouraging women to feel good in who they are

and to celebrate that throughout their entire day.

I always knew that the brand was going to stand

for something but it definitely has evolved into being more of a lifestyle

and a movement more than I could have ever anticipated as the conversation around

empowerment started to grow within my customers and my community, that led us

to start the movement the self-love Club. The movement isn't about buying

underwear it's not if you own Mary young you're a part of this club but it's your

attitude and your mindset of self-love, self-care, and empowerment.

Inadvertently my brand has become more of a connection between myself and my community

I've lost my father, I've lost grandparents so sharing things that are

sort of real life things that we don't openly talk about.

To be able to use a platform that I've developed off of a clothing line

to actually benefit people in a more personal way that encourages you know

open conversation and sort of the support system that we can have within each other.

After all when a woman feels good in her skin and she feels confident

in who she is, she's sexy no matter what and she's able to achieve anything she wants in her life.

Developing Discipline and Self-Control - Part 2 | Enjoying Everyday Life - Duration: 28:31.

ANNOUNCER: THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN MADE POSSIBLE BY THE

FRIENDS AND PARTNERS OF JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES.

[MUSIC]

JOYCE: PSALM 106:12-16.

NOW, GOD HAD JUST PARTED THE RED SEA AND THE PEOPLE

WE'RE PRETTY HAPPY.

YOU KNOW, WE LOVE MIRACLES.

MMM...

THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING.

THEY JUST STOOD THERE AND GOD PARTED THE RED SEA.

"THEN THEY BELIEVED HIS WORDS; AND THEY SANG HIS PRAISE."

WELL, SURE.

"BUT THEY SOON FORGOT HIS WORKS; AND THEY DID NOT WAIT

FOR HIS COUNCIL.

BUT THEY HAD A WANTON CRAVING IN THE WILDERNESS, AND PUT GOD TO

THE TEST IN THE DESERT." THEY TESTED GOD BY MURMURING AND

COMPLAINING BY THE WAY.

THEY STARTED OUT GOOD, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY STAYING POWER.

THE ISRAELITES WERE OKAY, AS LONG AS THEY WERE GETTING

EVERYTHING THEY WANTED OUT IN THE WILDERNESS, BUT THEY

GOT TIRED OF MANNA.

GOT TIRED OF THAT MIRACLE AFTER A WHILE AND THEY WANTED MEAT.

AND SO, THEY GRUMBLED AND COMPLAINED UNTIL IT SAYS THAT,

"GOD GAVE THEM WHAT THEY ASKED FOR, BUT SENT A WASTING

DISEASE AMONG THEM." I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS, BUT I

DON'T WANT ONE OF 'EM.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: AND THIS HAPPENED, "WHEN MEN IN THE CAMP WERE

JEALOUS OF MOSES AND AARON, THE HOLY ONE OF THE LORD, AND THE

EARTH OPENED UP AND SWALLOWED THEM, AND FIRE BROKE OUT IN THE

CAMP," AND THEN THEY JUST GOT DUMBER AND THEY MADE A GOLDEN

CALF AND STARTED TO WORSHIP IT.

NOW, I WANT TO SAY SOMETHING AND I HOPE YOU DON'T FORGET THIS.

DON'T EVER BE JEALOUS OF WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE HAS IF YOU

DON'T WANT TO DO WHAT THEY DID TO GET IT.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AMEN?

"WELL, IT MUST BE NICE TO HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY.

MUST BE NICE." WE RESENT PEOPLE SOMETIMES WHOSE

LIVES ARE BLESSED.

I MEAN, THERE MAYBE A FEW PEOPLE THAT HAVE A LOT OF

STUFF HANDED TO 'EM.

BUT, THE BIGGEST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE A REALLY GOOD

LIFE, THEY'VE DONE WHAT 1 PETER 1:3-8 SAYS.

ESPECIALLY, IF WE'RE LOOKING AT IT FROM A CHRISTIAN VIEWPOINT.

THEY'VE TAKEN A HOLD OF THE WORD OF GOD AND THEY'VE SAID, "I AM

NOT GOING TO MISS THE BEST LIFE THAT GOD HAS FOR ME."

IF JESUS COULD DO WHAT HE DID FOR ME, THEN SURELY, I CAN

COOPERATE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND LET HIM GUIDE ME INTO A LIFE

THAT WOULD BE SO AMAZING, THAT PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT SAVED

ARE GOING TO WANT TO KNOW THE GOD THAT I SERVE.

AMEN?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: HOW MANY OF YOU REALIZE THAT YOU'RE NOT JUST

HERE ON THE EARTH JUST FOR YOURSELF AND JUST TO MAKE

YOURSELF HAPPY?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: I DON'T THINK WE REALIZE THAT LIKE WE SHOULD.

I THINK SOME PEOPLE JUST GET INTO A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

BECAUSE THEY'VE GOT ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS AND THEY JUST WANT GOD

TO FIX ALL THEIR PROBLEMS AND EVERYTHING BECOMES ABOUT THEM.

AND GOD WANTS TO DO ALL THAT FOR YOU, BUT HE ALSO NEEDS YOU.

WE ARE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS IN THE EARTH TODAY.

AND HE NEEDS EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US, READY EVERY DAY, TO DO

WHATEVER HE ASKS US TO DO, WHATEVER THAT MIGHT BE.

COME ON.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: I WONDER WHO'D BE WILLING TO SAY TO GOD TONIGHT,

"GOD, I'M GOING TO SAY AN ETERNAL YES TO YOU BEFORE I EVEN

KNOW WHAT THE QUESTION IS.

I'LL JUST SAY YES.

AND YOU TELL ME WHAT IT IS.

I'LL JUST SAY YES, AND YOU TELL ME WHAT IT IS LATER THAT

YOU WANT, BUT MY ANSWER TO YOU IS YES."

GOD IS SO GOOD AND HE'S DONE SO MUCH FOR US.

WHAT JESUS WENT THROUGH ON THAT CROSS--I MEAN, I'M STUDYING FOR

ANOTHER SERIES OF MESSAGES THAT I'M NOT PREACHING HERE THIS

WEEKEND, BUT I WAS HAVING TO GO THROUGH SOME OF THE MATERIAL

ABOUT JESUS WILLINGLY LAYING DOWN HIS RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES

AS THE SON OF GOD AND COMING DOWN HERE AND TAKING ON AN

EARTHLY HUMAN FORM TO DO WHAT HE DID FOR US.

AND IT'S NOT ANYTHING HE HAD TO DO.

HE DID IT BECAUSE HE WANTED TO.

AND WE THINK WE CAN'T RESIST TEMPTATION, BUT WHEN HE WAS IN

THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE, HE WAS BEING TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL NOT

TO GO THROUGH WITH WHAT GOD HAD CALLED HIM TO DO.

IT SAYS THAT HE PRAYED AND RESISTED TEMPTATION TO THE

POINT OF SWEATING GREAT DROPS OF BLOOD.

AND SO, THINK ABOUT THAT WHEN YOU'RE HAVING A HARD TIME

RESISTING SOME LITTLE SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW IS NOT THE RIGHT

CHOICE FOR YOU TO MAKE.

AMEN?

THINK ABOUT WHAT JESUS RESISTED FOR US, AND WHAT

THAT'S DONE FOR US.

I GOT SO EXCITED STUDYING, I CAN'T WAIT TO PREACH

THAT SERIES.

BIBLE SAYS, "FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD."

AND IT'S NOT WORKS OF THE FLESH.

WHICH IS JUST OUR ENERGY TRYING TO DO GOD'S JOB.

US MAKING UP STUFF TRYING TO DO IT APART FROM GOD.

BUT IT'S DOING--THERE'S A DIFFERENCE IN WORKS OF THE

FLESH AND DOING THE WORK THAT GOD CALLS US TO DO.

MAKING THAT EFFORT AND GETTING UP AND SPENDING TIME WITH GOD IN

THE MORNING BEFORE YOU GO OUT AND DO ANYTHING ELSE, BECAUSE

YOU'RE SMART ENOUGH NOW, TO KNOW THAT YOUR DAY IS

GOING TO BE LOUSY IF YOU DON'T START IT WITH GOD.

AMEN?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AND I KNOW ALL OF YOU CAN'T MANAGE YOUR LIFE

THE WAY THAT I DO.

I CAN GET UP AND HAVE TWO HOURS WITH GOD, BUT EVEN IF IT'S FIVE

MINUTES, BE SMART ENOUGH NOT TO GO OUT OF YOUR HOUSE WITHOUT

FIRST SAYING, "GOD, I NEED YOU.

GOD, I LOVE YOU.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU'VE DONE FOR ME."

"SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS AND

ALL THESE OTHER THINGS WILL BE ADDED UNTO YOU."

AMEN?

BUT, LET'S JUST THINK ABOUT BELIEVING FOR A MINUTE.

YOU KNOW, BELIEVING TAKES SOME SELF-CONTROL, BECAUSE WE'RE

TEMPTED TO DOUBT.

I LOVE THIS SCRIPTURE IN MARK 11:24-25, SAYS, "THEREFORE I

TELL YOU, WHATEVER YOU ASK IN PRAYER, BELIEVE THAT YOU

HAVE RECEIVED IT, AND IT WILL BE YOURS."

ANOTHER TRANSLATION SAYS, "BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED

IT AND YOU WILL GET IT." BUT, IT DOESN'T SAY WHEN

YOU WILL GET IT.

SO, YOU--HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE PRAYED FOR SOMETHIN' AND IT'S

BEEN 10 YEARS, YOU'RE STILL WAITIN'?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: WELL, HOW MANY THOUSANDS OF TIMES HAVE YOU BEEN

TEMPTED TO GIVE UP ON THAT PARTICULAR THING?

OKAY.

WELL, THIS IS WHERE THE DISCIPLINE AND SELF-CONTROL

COMES IN, BECAUSE YOU SAY, "NO I'M NOT GIVING UP ON GOD.

JUST SHUT UP DEVIL, I'M NOT GIVING UP ON GOD.

I DON'T CARE HOW LONG IT TAKES.

I BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD IS TRUE AND I WILL NOT GIVE UP."

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: I MEAN, WHAT DO YOU HAVE IF YOU DON'T HAVE HOPE,

AND FAITH, AND SOME POSITIVE EXPECTATION THAT SOMETHING

GOOD IS GOING TO HAPPEN?

"WELL, NOTHING GOOD EVER HAPPENS TO ME."

WELL, STOP SAYING THAT.

DON'T WORRY, ONE OF THESE MESSAGES IS GOING TO BE

ABOUT THE MOUTH.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: I WON'T TELL YOU WHICH ONE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT YOU

TO DECIDE, "I DON'T THINK I NEED THAT."

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: I HOPE YOU STILL LOVE ME WHEN I'M DONE HERE.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: 1 JOHN 3:21-22, "BELOVED, IF OUR HEARTS DO NOT

CONDEMN US, WE HAVE CONFIDENCE BEFORE GOD; AND WHATEVER WE

ASK WE RECEIVE FROM HIM, BECAUSE WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS

AND DO WHAT PLEASES HIM." WELL, IT DOESN'T JUST SAY

ASK FOR ANYTHING YOU WANT AND YOU'LL GET IT.

IT SAYS, IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS AND WE DO WHAT

HE ASKS US TO DO.

NOW, I'M NOT SAYING THAT GOD NEVER DOES ANYTHING FOR US WHEN

WE'RE DISOBEDIENT, BECAUSE HE'S MERCIFUL AND HE DOES.

HE HELPS US IF WE CRY OUT FOR HELP.

BUT, I AM GOING TO SAY AND I BELIEVE THAT I CAN PROVE THIS

FROM A HUNDRED DIFFERENT SCRIPTURES, THAT YOU CAN'T LIVE

IN KNOWN, HABITUAL DISOBEDIENCE AND EXPECT GOD TO MANIFEST ALL

THE GOOD THINGS IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU WANT.

THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP.

GOD SAYS THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO FOR YOU AND THESE ARE

SOME THINGS THAT I'D LIKE YOU TO DO FOR ME.

NOW, THE THING ABOUT A LOT OF THIS, AND WE'LL GET INTO THIS A

LOT MORE TOMORROW, THAT I THINK GETS HARD FOR SOME PEOPLE,

IS THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO WRONG AND

STILL GO TO HEAVEN.

'CAUSE YOUR SALVATION IS NOT PURCHASED BY YOUR WORKS.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: BUT I'LL TELL YA WHAT IS.

YOUR REWARDS.

NOW ONLY ONE PERSON'S CLAPPING.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: WHAT IS GOING ON?

NOW, DID YOU HEAR THAT?

YOUR SALVATION IS NOT BASED ON YOUR WORKS AND THE WHOLE

ROOM GOES, "YEAH...

NOTHING FOR ME TO DO."

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: AND I SAID BUT YOUR REWARDS ARE, AND IT DIED

DOWN TO ONE WOMAN RIGHT HERE IN THE MIDDLE.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: COME ON, THERE'S SCRIPTURE ALL OVER THE PLACE.

HE SAYS, "I'M COMING SOON AND I'M BRINGING MY REWARDS WITH ME

TO GIVE TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO WHAT THEY'VE DONE."

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: I MEAN, CAN'T WE READ?

"IF YOU SOW TO THE FLESH YOU'LL REAP FROM THE FLESH, RUIN,

DECAY, AND DESTRUCTION.

BUT IF YOU SOW TO THE SPIRIT YOU'LL REAP FROM THE SPIRIT,

LIFE AND LIFE ETERNAL.

DO NOT BE DECEIVED.

GOD IS NOT MOCKED.

FOR WHATSOEVER A MAN SOWETH THAT AND THAT ONLY IS WHAT

HE SHALL REAP."

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: I CAN THROW CLOTHES OFF THE HANGER IN THE STORE

AND WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT PROMPT ME TO PICK 'EM UP, JUST IGNORE

HIM AND KEEP GOING.

I'LL GO TO HEAVEN.

THAT'S GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH NOT GOING TO HEAVEN.

BUT THERE'LL BE SOMETHING ELSE IN MY LIFE THAT I'LL MISS.

ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AND I THINK, TO ME, ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING THINGS

ABOUT MY RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IS STILL AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN,

BUT STILL AFTER 40 YEARS, IT'S ALL THE LITTLE STUFF BETWEEN ME

AND HIM THAT WOULDN'T EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE TO SOMEBODY ELSE.

THAT'S WHY SOME OF YOU, WHEN I TALK ABOUT PICKING UP CLOTHES

THAT I KNOCKED OFF OF A HANGER YOU THINK, "OH, COME ON.

I GOT A PROBLEM."

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: WELL, MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN BACK THERE PICKING

UP CLOTHES THAT YOU DROPPED ON THE FLOOR.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: COME ON, YOU'VE HEARD ME PREACH THIS.

YOU GO TO THE GROCERY STORE AND YOU'RE STARVING.

YOU PUT EVERYTHING YOU CAN FIND IN YOUR BASKET, AND BY THE TIME

YOU GET TO THE AISLE THAT'S GOT ALL THE STUFF IN IT THAT YOU

REALLY NEED LIKE THE MILK AND THE EGGS AND THAT KIND OF STUFF,

YOU FIN--YOU REALIZE I CAN PAY FOR ALL THIS.

SO NOW, YOU GOTTA START TAKING STUFF OUT AND PUTTING IT BACK.

AND SO, YOU PUT THE LETTUCE IN WITH THE CLEANSER

AND YOU KNOW...

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: COME ON, I KNOW.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT.

I USED TO DO THAT ALL THE TIME, BUT FOR SOMEHOW--AFTER I WAS

FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND GOT INTO THIS SERIOUS

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

I MEAN, HE STARTED SAYING, "PUT IT BACK WHERE YOU GOT IT."

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: I NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE.

I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, MESSING WITH GOD IS A DANGEROUS BUSINESS.

HE IS GOING TO TURN YOUR LIFE UPSIDE DOWN.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

JOYCE: AMEN?

HE'LL TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN, AND THEN TURN IT RIGHT SIDE UP.

AND THEN, WHOO!

ARE YOU GOING TO LOVE THE LIFE THAT YOU'VE GOT?

THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN KNOWING THAT YOU

DID THE RIGHT THING.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: JUST THINK ABOUT THAT.

THINK ABOUT THE TIMES WHEN IT'S BEEN SO HARD FOR YOU TO DO THE

RIGHT THING, BUT YOU DID IT.

AND HOW GOOD IT FELT JUST TO KNOW THAT YOU DID

THE RIGHT THING.

IT'S LUNCH TIME AND YOU'RE SITTING AT THE LUNCH TABLE WITH

A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE.

THEY DON'T LIKE THEIR JOB, AND THEY DON'T LIKE THE BOSS.

THEY'RE GOSSIPING ABOUT SO-AN-SO.

"DID YOU HEAR WHAT SO-AND-SO DID?"

YOU KNOW, THE HOLY SPIRIT PROMPTS YOU, "YOU DON'T NEED

TO LISTEN TO THIS.

JUST, GO TAKE A WALK AND PRAY OR SOMETHING."

BUT THEN YOU THINK, OR THE DEVIL PUTS A THOUGHT, WELL,

YOU DON'T WANT THE PEOPLE TO THINK THAT YOU THINK

YOU'RE TOO GOOD FOR 'EM.

HE DON'T CARE WHAT THOSE PEOPLE THINK, HE WANTS YOU TO SIT

THERE AND LISTEN TO THAT POISON, AND THEN GET YOU INVOLVED IN IT.

AND YOU'RE JUST GONNA FEEL BAD THE REST OF THE DAY.

BUT IF YOU JUST OBEY, YOU'LL FEEL SO GOOD THAT YOU DID

THE RIGHT THING.

IT JUST FEELS SO GOOD TO JUST DO THE RIGHT THING.

"BE NOT WEARY IN WELL-DOING.

BE NOT WEARY IN DOING WHAT'S RIGHT FOR IN DUE SEASON YOU

SHALL REAP; IF YOU FAINT NOT." SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DO THE

RIGHT THING FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE YOU START GETTIN'

THE RIGHT RESULT.

AND THAT'S WHERE IT TAKES THE SELF-CONTROL.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: DISCIPLINE, JAMES 4:17, "SO WHOEVER KNOWS THE

RIGHT THING TO DO AND FAILS TO DO IT, FOR HIM IT IS SIN."

THERE'S SINS OF COMMISSION AND SINS OF OMISSION.

THERE'S THINGS WE DO WRONG, BUT THERE'S THINGS THAT WE KNOW

TO DO RIGHT, LIKE CLEANING UP YOUR OWN MESSES.

I'LL GIVE YOU ANOTHER ONE.

HOW MANY OF YOU, WHEN YOU USE THE LAST OF THE TOILET PAPER...

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: COME ON NOW, DON'T MAKE ME COME

OUT THERE.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: YOU KNOW WHAT I REALLY CAN'T STAND WHEN I'M IN A PUBLIC

BATHROOM, AND I USED THE LAST OF THE FIRST ROLL, AND GOD

MAKES ME TRY TO GET TO THAT SECOND ONE UP THERE.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: AND, I NEVER KNOW HOW TO WORK IT.

AND I'M IN THERE WANTING TO JUST...

WELL, WE WON'T SAY WHAT I WANT TO DO.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: BUT I TELL YOU WHAT, I HAVE MADE MY MIND UP THAT

I AM GOING TO OBEY GOD AND ALL THE LITTLE THINGS THAT

HE TELLS ME TO DO.

AND, I'LL BET YOU THAT EVERY TIME WE DO THAT, THE DEVIL IS

JUST HAVING A FLAT OUT FIT SOMEWHERE 'CAUSE HE HATES IT

WHEN WE OBEY GOD.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: COME ON.

NOW, HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE HEARD ME TALKING ABOUT PUTTING YOUR

GROCERY CART BACK?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: I'M GONNA SHOW YOU A LITTLE SOMETHIN'.

SOMEBODY SENT THIS TO US AND MY SON SAID, "MOM, I THINK

THIS MAY BE YOUR GREATEST TESTIMONY WHEN YOU'RE GONE."

SO, JOHN IF YOU--ARE YOU READY WITH THAT LITTLE THING THAT

I ASKED YOU FOR?

NOW, JUST WATCH.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: OH, I'LL TELL YOU WHAT.

YOU START WITH THE LITTLE STUFF AND IT'S PRACTICE FOR

THE BIG STUFF.

AND IT WON'T BE VERY LONG AND THEY'LL BE MAJOR THINGS THAT

GOD'S ASKING YOU TO SAY NO TO, THAT YOUR FLESH REALLY

WANTS TO SAY YES TO, OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

AND IT WON'T BE THAT HARD BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN

PRACTICING ALL THE TIME.

WE ALL CAN GO TO THE SCHOOL OF THE HOLY GHOST.

MAYBE YOU CAN'T GO TO BIBLE COLLEGE SOMEWHERE, BUT HOW MANY

OF YOU WOULD LOVE TO ENROLL IN THE SCHOOL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: HEY, I'M NOT MESSING AROUND, DON'T STICK YOUR HAND UP

IF YOU DON'T MEAN IT 'CAUSE I'M GETTING READY TO PRAY FOR YOU.

AMEN?

'CAUSE HERE'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SAY "GOD, I WANT YOUR

WILL IN MY LIFE." COME ON.

"I WANT YOUR WILL IN MY LIFE.

I WANT TO BE THAT EXCELLENT PERSON THAT GLORIFIES YOU.

AND I KNOW IT'S GOING TO TAKE DISCIPLINE AND SELF-CONTROL."

WHEN YOU SAY THAT, WELL, JUST GET READY.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AMEN?

LET'S ALL STAND UP.

FATHER, WE PRAY IN JESUS NAME THAT YOU WOULD HELP US.

LORD, HELP US, HELP US, HELP US, HELP US.

IT'S EASY TO SAY YES IN HERE, BUT NOW WE GOT TO GO OUT

AND LIVE IT.

FATHER, HELP US BE EXCELLENT PEOPLE.

HELP US GO THE EXTRA MILE AND ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU WOULD DO,

JESUS, IN A SITUATION.

WHETHER IT'S LITTLE THINGS OR BIG THINGS.

HELP US TO EXERCISE THAT MUSCLE OF SELF-CONTROL AND NOT LET THE

FLESH RULE US, BUT TO CHOOSE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND

ALWAYS SAY YES, TO YOU.

AND WE KNOW YOU'LL HELP US.

WE KNOW THAT NO TEMPTATION IS SO GREAT THAT YOU HAVEN'T

PROVIDED A WAY OUT.

AND WE THANK YOU FOR THAT.

IN JESUS NAME...

JOYCE: WELL, THERE'S NOT VERY MUCH THAT FEELS ANY BETTER

THAN KNOWING THAT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING.

GIVES YOU WONDERFUL PEACE.

YOU KNOW, GOD WANTS US TO DO THINGS WITH EXCELLENCE, HAVING

THE DISCIPLINE TO KEEP OUR WORD, AND ALWAYS GO THE EXTRA MILE.

[MUSIC]

GINGER: IT HAD BEEN A LONG DAY AND I WAS EXHAUSTED.

THE NEPALI HEAT AND HUMIDITY COMBINED WITH THE HIKE INTO THE

REMOTE VILLAGE ALONG THE EDGE OF THE HIMALAYAS, AND A FULL DAY OF

SHOOTING STORIES HAD TAKEN THEIR TOLL.

IT WAS ABOUT TIME TO CALL IT A DAY WHEN A SMALL BAND OF GIRLS

DECIDED TO TAKE ME ON A TOUR OF THEIR VILLAGE AND I WASN'T SO

SURE I WAS UP TO IT.

BUT, IT WAS SOON OBVIOUS THE CHOICE WAS NOT MINE.

THEY GRABBED MY ARMS, TWO ON EACH SIDE AND BEGAN PULLING ME

UPHILL WHILE THEY GIGGLED AND CHATTERED.

[CHILDREN GIGGLING]

GINGER: IN BROKEN ENGLISH, THEY TOLD ME ALL ABOUT THEIR

LIVES AND THEIR EXPERIENCES WHEN THE RECENT EARTHQUAKE STRUCK.

[MUSIC]

GINGER: AS THEY DRAGGED ME UP AND DOWN THE DIRT PATHS THROUGH

THE DESTROYED HOMES, I QUICKLY REALIZED THAT TIRED OR NOT,

THESE ARE THE MOMENTS THAT MATTER MOST.

DIVINE APPOINTMENTS THAT GOD GIVES US, MEMORIES WE

NEVER FORGET.

I TOLD THEM HOW IMPRESSED I WAS WITH THEIR ENGLISH AND THEY

LAUGHED AS I ATTEMPTED TO PRONOUNCE THEIR NAMES.

ALONG THE WAY, THEY FLITTED AROUND LIKE FIREFLIES AND PICKED

BOUQUETS OF WILDFLOWERS FOR ME.

THEY WERE TRULY PRECIOUS GIFTS.

THEY TOLD ME THAT WHEN THE EARTHQUAKE HIT, IT WAS NOISY AND

VERY FRIGHTENING.

IT WAS A SUNDAY MORNING, SO THEY WERE HOME FROM SCHOOL.

ONE SAID, "IT WAS THE MOST AFRAID I HAVE EVER BEEN.

I THOUGHT WE WOULD ALL DIE." THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE STILL

AFRAID TO SLEEP INSIDE.

I ASKED HOW THEIR FAMILIES AND HOMES WERE.

THEY SAID THEIR FAMILIES SURVIVED WITH SOME BUMPS AND

BROKEN BONES.

THEY TOLD ME ABOUT FRIENDS WHO LOST PARENTS AND OTHERS WITH

CRUSHED ARMS OR LEGS.

THEY TOLD ME THAT EVERYONE IN THE VILLAGE HAS BEEN SAD SINCE

THE EARTHQUAKE AND HOW OUR BEING THERE HAD MADE THEM HAPPY AGAIN.

"IT'S VERY KIND OF YOU TO VISIT FROM SO FAR AWAY," THEY SAID.

THEY WERE QUICK TO POINT OUT THAT THEY KNEW I WAS FROM FAR

AWAY BECAUSE MY SKIN WAS VERY LIGHT AND FUNNY.

WE LAUGHED A LOT AT THAT.

"BUT BEAUTIFUL," THEY SAID, AND I TOLD THEM THEY WERE ALL VERY

BEAUTIFUL AND I INTRODUCE THEM TO THE SELFIE.

THEY SANG ME A SONG AND THOUGH I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD, THE

TUNE WAS HAPPY.

THEN THEY ASKED ME TO TEACH THEM ONE.

SO, I BEGAN SINGING, "JESUS LOVES ME."

THEY REPEATED EACH LINE AFTER ME AND SOON WE WERE SINGING

TOGETHER.

"THAT'S A VERY NICE SONG," THEY SAID.

THEN ONE SWEET LITTLE GIRL ASKED ME IF I BELIEVED IN JESUS.

I TOLD THEM ALL ABOUT HIM.

HOW HE IS ALIVE AND WITH US RIGHT NOW, AND HOW HE LOVES THEM

VERY MUCH.

SHE SAID THAT HER PARENTS DON'T BELIEVE IN JESUS, BUT THAT SINCE

HE WAS MY FRIEND, SHE WANTED HIM TO BE HERS.

MY HEART MELTED.

WE TALKED ABOUT THE CHURCH IN THE VILLAGE WHERE THEY CAN LEARN

MORE ABOUT JESUS.

THEY REMINDED ME THAT THE CHURCH HAD FALLEN DOWN IN THE

EARTHQUAKE, BUT I TOLD THEM THAT DIDN'T MATTER, THE PEOPLE WERE

STILL MEETING OUTSIDE AND GOD WOULD NEVER LEAVE THEM.

[SINGING FOREIGN LANGUAGE]

GINGER: AS WE CLIMB CLOSER TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN SIDE

WHERE WE LEFT OUR VEHICLES BECAUSE THE DIRT ROAD WAS

IMPASSABLE FROM MONSOON RAINS, THEY ASKED ME TO SING, "JESUS

LOVES ME," AGAIN.

WE SANG TOGETHER OVER AND OVER UNTIL I BEGGED FOR MERCY.

"I CAN'T SING ANYMORE.

I'M OUT OF BREATH." ONCE WE REACHED THE TOP, I GOT

ONE LAST GOODBYE HUG AND OFF THEY WENT.

"I WON'T FORGET YOU." ONE SAID.

I THINK OF THOSE GIRLS OFTEN.

I PRAY FOR THEM AND I'M GRATEFUL THAT OUR PARTNERS SENT US TO

THAT REMOTE HILLSIDE TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY ESSENTIALS LIKE FOOD

AND TARPS, TO REBUILD THEIR CHURCH BUILDING, TO REMIND THE

PEOPLE THAT GOD WILL RESTORE THEIR HOPE, AND TO TELL A TINY

BAND OF SWEET GIRLS THAT, "YES, JESUS LOVES THEM."

GIRLS: COME, COME, COME...

GINGER: FLOWERS AND SMILES.

[GIRLS GIGGLING]

My Perfection Story! :: (Inspired by Amber'sCloset) :: "Facing the Self" Series - Duration: 20:25.

Hey beautiful people! It's Claudia, and welcome back to my channel. I have not

done a sit-down, chit chat video on this channel in a long time.

The Cost of Perfection. How did this topic come to

drift through my mind. I was on YouTube and I saw one of my favorite creators

with a video that dealt with the theme, "STOP trying to be Perfect."

I was stymied, shocked. I watched that video again, and I was

instantly inspired to tell my own perfection story, so Amber, "I'm always

being inspired by you." That's Amber'sCloset. If you don't know

her, check her channel. "Thank you for posting that video, Amber. I have my whole life pursued

pursued the Art of Perfection. From a little tiny girl, I wanted to be liked, approved of,

loved, and I wanted to be perfect. And I thought that being perfect would

mean I would have all of these other things in tandem. They just would come

along with it, so that pursuit followed me throughout my years. Let me always be.

Yeah, yeah, I was the teacher's pet in class. I wanted to help the teacher with

everything. The perfection of being at the head of the class in academics never

left me from the last time I was in class, in a workshop, or when I led a class or when

I taught a class or led a workshop. Perfection was always at the forefront.

Perfection costs me so much; you give up so many things you genuinely want to do,

because the art of perfection means that it's not only perfection in your own

head that you're striving for, but you're striving for the perfection from others in

opinions of you and in their gaze in which you want to see that mirror of

reflection, of perfection, shining back at you. And that's not always doable; that's

not always achievable of what you genuinely like or don't like. You don't

know because perfection cloaks you and makes you do the things that you think

would get you to that pinnacle or to that penultimate point, where you're just

left to throw out your arms and say to the world, "Okay,

I've achieved this perfection in college. Perfection drove me like a witch on a

person's back in the cartoons. I missed so many dances, I probably missed dates, and

I missed--I'm sure--a certain aspect of the college career that I bowed to

the need to receive all A's in college, to stand at the top of the line for

awards, and to be the one that others said, "Oh, there's Claudia! There's Claudia Moss!" Ah,

if I had been vulnerable to Claudia, I could have experienced all else that

went along with college and then have been happy with, maybe, mostly A's and a couple of B's

thrown in because I would have then been well rounded. It's a grave cost.

It's when you look back on your life you can see where perfection

leads you; it changes what you would honestly say to a person for the

need of trying to gain approval. You become a people person and a

people person is not a bad thing, but a

people-pleaser is when you're on that hot and heavy

pursuit for perfection. People-pleasing comes so easily, but people-pleasing has

a cost. You give up so much of yourself. When I was teaching, I wanted to be

perfect. I was trying year after year to get to

the perfect spot of teaching and to me that was being the department head of

the English department. I was up night after night, lost sleep. I was grading

papers, trying to make sure that if I gave an assignment, I'd it back to my

students the next day. If it were the next three or four days, I was like, "Oh no,

I can't do that!" I had to be perfect. I had to have lesson plans that were

brand-new every year, every quarter, every semester.

Other people were like, "Let me check this file cabinet to see what I can tweak and

change!" Oh no, I was on that perfection merry-go-round and it was beating me

good but I had to take the links because I wanted to be perfect. "Claudia, can you

head up this committee? Can you led this group? Can you represent the

school on this particular mission? Can you do this business?" Yes, I loved doing

most of those things, but at a certain point, my will...my body...my energy said, "No,

you got to let somebody else do some of these things." But I said, "No, I'm Claudia

and Claudia can do it. I don't care if my plate is cracking in a thousand places." I

could do it. I loved teaching, but when I was teaching the students,

the other teachers would say, "Claudia, I've never seen you wear the same outfit

twice in a whole semester a quarter a year even." And let me tell you, I was so

energized with trying to be perfect, until I did everything I could not to

wear the same outfit twice, because to me that was physically being perfect that

you didn't have to wear something here here and here.

"Oh, we saw that again." Oh no, no no, they never saw my outfits, and if I did wear

an outfit twice. It was never in the same way that I wore it so it was good for my

memory because I had to keep up with that all year. So I had my wardrobe

synchronized with winter, summer, spring, and fall. I bought clothes all the time! People

would say to me, "Claudia, I've never seen you angry. Do you get angry at home?

Do you ever get angry with these students?" It's like no no...I was working

to be perfect, even with my emotions. I could not let anyone see me angry or sadness

because I had to be in that happy zone where I was always bubbly, effervescent and

glowing, ready for the next challenge. Nobody is like that all the time, not you

or you or you. Nobody is like that and I wasn't either.

It's just I was being driven and whiplashed by perfection, so when the day

came that I had to walk away from teaching, I stood at my back classroom

window, and I spoke with the Universe. I spoke

with the Divine. I was like, "God, please help me. Please let me do anything else

besides this. I want a whole new vista. I want to fly in new skies. What

else can I do because I have exhausted myself with teaching? I loved my

students. I've got to say that and I really believe they enjoyed me. I loved

teaching and that showed up in my classroom. That showed up when I stood before the

student body to speak and lead assemblies, but at a certain point, you

must always love you more than the pursuit of anything.

You must love you and know when it is time for you to say No! I was so caught

up in the art of perfection, I had no concept of the word No...didn't know what

it meant. I said yes even when my heart was

breaking. I said yes because I never practiced being true to Claudia. On

YouTube when I started doing my videos and put up my channel, I was spending so

much time editing until this thumb held the mouse and literally gave me pain!

This area was inflamed from me not knowing when to stop, put

that mouse down, go to bed and at least get a break, stand up and shake! Do something! other

You drive yourself to create this perfect-perfect image in your mind of what

perfection on YouTube looks like, instead of genuinely enjoying it and knowing

that it's okay to stop when you need to. Stop! It's okay. You don't have to drive

yourself to the detriment of your body. If you are on the pursuit of

perfection, and you're on YouTube or you're an artist or you're singing or you're

practicing mastering an instrument, you can't get started...really started...it until

you release the need to be perfect! Oh my goodness, I need to make sure I

have a ring light. I need to make sure I have the proper trappings that go along

with having a YouTube channel. You need to make sure you have a cell phone or

a laptop or an iPad to start making your videos. You will get better

and better the more you create your videos. No, I'm not perfect, but I sure AM

enjoying being the best YouTuber that I can be in this window for you and for me!

If I let that perfection bug drive me, if I continue to let it drive me, I

would not be sitting here. I would be somewhere cogitating, "Now let me see. What

else do I need before I can get my channel going? I'll wait until next year

to make sure I am perfect. I will make sure I'm just like my favorite YouTuber,

and she might be three million strong. When I'm perfect, three million will

pop in for me, too, but I will start. Until then, know the perfection bug

stopped me from writing. I was like, "How can I write the next New York Times

best-selling novel if I'm not perfect in this chapter or in what I've written so far? I

think I'll stop and think about how I can be perfect. No, I'm perfect when I

keep writing because I am genuinely present, honestly present when I write and write

and rewrite and love the whole journey. it's the journey.

The perfect life is the journey of a well-lived life of ups and downs, of

showing up as who you are in any given moment. It doesn't look like whatever

you think perfection looks like. What is that now that I think about perfection. I say you

cannot serve two gods. If you serve the god of perfection here, and you

serve the god of vulnerability and free-falling here, you're torn. You're

tattered. You're confused because you need to pop off this scale

of perfection and leap onto vulnerability and free-falling so that

whenever you find yourself in a spot where your plate is cracking...you can

lean back and say nope! I'm going to be alright. Nope, I missed that deadline, and it's

okay! Nope, I'm fabulous in my own mind, doesn't matter what you might think as

long as I'm sitting here shining then I've got to be shining somewhere else in

your eyes because I'm shining over here in mine! If you don't have that mentality,

you are going down that street where you will learn that the road to perfection

is paved with setbacks, paved with potholes, paved with rocks and shards of

glass that will get you straight, Baby, in the end because it is not a road you

want to be on long. I had to turn around and say to Claudia, "I am perfectly

me in all of my imperfections and when Brene Brown wrote that book, "Perfect in My

Imperfections, I think that was the name of it, that was the best thing I had

read in a while! Perfection will drop you outside of the

moment. You won't even know the joy living in the up-and-down roller coaster

of emotions because you're so busy trying to maintain an

unmaintainable perfection you can't reach.

It's something that's out there in someone's mind, in your head. But I reach it

when I'm genuinely me and you are being genuinely you. That is

the closest that you will get to perfection. Start practicing the gift

of you and who you are and what you want to bring forth on your timetable.

Nobody else can do it but you. Practice saying yes and practice, most importantly, saying NO.

Perfection? What does perfection look like in poetry? What does it look like in

English class? This is what it looked like when I was teaching perfection and

what others thought was perfection and what perfection could really turn over.

It's a poem. I'll share it with you now. The poem is "Richard Cory." It was

written by Edwin Arlington Robinson, 1869 to 1935.

"Whenever Richard Cory went downtown We people on the pavement looked at him. He

was a gentleman from soul to crown, clean favored and Imperially slim and he was

always quietly arraigned and he was always human when he talked but still he

fluttered pulses when he said good morning and he glittered when he walked

and he was rich yes richer than a king and admirably schooled in every grace in

fine we thought that he was everything to make us wish that we were in his

place so on we worked and waited for the light and went without the meat and

cursed the bread and Richard Cory one calm summer night went home and put a

bullet through his head." To the townspeople in that poem telling us

about this Imperial citizen, Richard Cory looked like

perfection, but was he perfect in his own head? If Richard Cory had cut loose and

went out and entertained somebody somewhere, he might have been around. If

Richard Cory stopped caring what the townspeople people thought, perhaps he

would have been around a little bit longer to regale the people more. Whatever

happened, Richard Cory couldn't take it anymore.

Get off that perfection treadmill. It's not great exercise. Get off and exercise the

joy of living, the pursuit of happiness. Exercise the hunt for you and what makes

you tick tock and what makes you sing. And no matter what makes

you sing, you don't have to be a caged bird to sing. Sing because you're here.

Sing because you have the gift of life. Sing because you are uniquely you. It's

like "Facing the Self." It IS facing the self, and this video is the second

of the videos in my series. You can see the first one on "Why I Stopped

Dating." I loved filming this sit-down, chit-chat video so expect more

because I have thoughts on so many different things and I want to share

them with you and talk about them below. All right, love you

until the next video. Bye! Besitos y abracitos a todos!

Adios! kisses and hugs to everyone! Bye!

5 Self-Help Books Lessons to Master a Language - Duration: 7:49.

Have you ever read a self-help book?

Self-help books are written with the goal of helping readers solve personal problems

and, generally speaking, improve themselves.

Why am I talking about personal development books on a channel dedicated to language learning?

Simply because I have found that in many of these books you can get extremely useful tips

and techniques to learn languages, even if the book isn't on the topic of learning a language.

Today I'm going to give you 5 key lessons I've learned from self-help books to master any language.

The first lesson comes from "The Power of Habit" in which Charles Duhigg explains

that 40% of our daily actions are habits.

A habit is an action we perform without any intent or willpower. A great example of a

habit is brushing our teeth every morning.

We simply do it without having to force ourselves or thinking about it, since we've done it

every morning for as long as we can remember.

What if we could transform our daily language learning sessions into habits?

Actually, we can, if we understand how habits work.

Let's analyze a very popular habit: checking our phone very often.

This habit is made up of a cue (we hear our phone buzz) of a craving (we want to

know who sent us a message), a routine (we stop everything to check our phone) and a

reward (we feel pleasure or distraction by reading a text, an e-mail or a notification

on social media).

Now let's look at how we can use this to study a language every day.

For the cue, you can put a language book on your desk or set MosaLingua Web as your

browser's default page. For the craving, you need to set up a reward

for completing your task.

This can be either an immediate one, like eating something you love like a piece of chocolate at the end of your

session, or a more long-term reward such as picturing

yourself traveling abroad and speaking the language of your dreams fluently.

By repeating this routine every day, every time you see the cue (the language book

or the MosaLingua Web webpage) you'll start associating it with the reward and you'll

end up having a craving which will drive you through the routine to get your reward.

And if you repeat this process for 30 days, this habit will become so strong that you'll

no longer need any willpower to study languages every day.

Lesson 2: Use social pressure to boost your willpower

Speaking of willpower, let's look at another very powerful hack explained in "The Willpower

Instinct" by Kelly McGonigal.

Sometimes it's very hard to find the willpower, to work on difficult goals

or projects like learning a language.

But willpower is one of the most important ingredients when it comes to learning a language

and you need a good dose of it every day to be successful.

Even if we might not want to admit it, we are profoundly influenced by the behavior

of the people around us.

The truth is that behaviors are kind of contagious.

We often feel social pressure when we see that people around us are doing something.

Here are my suggestions to use this social pressure in your favor and achieve better

results with languages:

1. Share your goal of improving your language skills or learning a new language with your

colleagues, friends and relatives. You can do this via social media

or in person.

Now your plans are public and you know that if you quit, everyone will be aware

of your failure.

This little social pressure will push you through and give you the motivation to work every day

toward your language learning goal.

2. Pair with another language learner. Team up with a friend or relative who has

a similar goal and agree on specific times to study with them.

This will help you both because when one of you is lacking willpower, the other will

be there for support.

Regularly meet with people who have similar goals.

Like I said, behaviors are contagious so if you regularly meet with other people who

are learning a language, you will end up having more motivation and willpower.

That's my case when I attend a polyglot event: during these gatherings I meet so many

motivated and focused people that I, myself immediately feel more motivated and enthusiastic

about language learning.

Lesson 3: Practice "deep work" to avoid distractions

This third lesson comes from Cal Newport and his great book "Deep Work."

Deep work is an activity performed in a state of distraction-free concentration

that pushes your cognitive abilities to their limit.

These efforts create new value, improve your skills, and are hard to replicate.

The author refers to professional activities, but I think that deep work is extremely versatile

and useful when it comes to learning a language.

To learn a language you need to practice every day for short but very focused sessions.

In order to achieve intense focus during your learning sessions, you need to:

1. Avoid multitasking: if you study 15 minutes, then focus only on the task of learning so

you can maximize your productivity.

2. Avoid distractions: turn off notifications and put your phone in airplane mode so you will

not be interrupted.

3. Extend your focus over a longer period of time but do not overdo it: place all of your

energy on the task of learning a language for as long as you can, but don't exhaust

yourself.

I recommend studying 10-15 minutes a day - short sessions

are more effective because you won't get overwhelmed or bored. So if you want to study

one hour a day, take a short 5-minute break after 20-25 minutes.

4. Block out moments of the day to study languages: in my case, I found that morning is the best

moment to fully focus on language learning and avoid the risk of being interrupted.

For you of course, it might be another moment of the day, but do put this time-slot in your agenda

so you avoid making other engagements and stick to your plan.

These were the first key lessons for mastering any language that I've learned from self-help books.

I thought the other two lessons merited their own videos. One comes from "The Miracle

Morning" by Hal Elrod and the other is from Darren Hardy's book called "The Compound

Video #2 - CCT Class - Self Compassion - Duration: 2:34:00.

Good evening!

We're going to do an arraving exercise

To calm ourselves

We are recording this class today

So, we're going to do an arraving exercise to quiet the mind

and this exercise involves

establishing the intention

You can find a comfortable position

You can close your eyes now

And you can give one of those cleansing breaths

that we did before

breathing in through the nostrils and breathing out throuhg the mouth

If you want, you can bring your shoulders toward the ears

The idea here is to liberate the the tensions we accumulated throughout the day

You can spin your shoulders back and forth, just a little...

to liberate any remaning tensions

Then when you feel you're ready...

settle your breathing in its natural rhythm

Allowing that in each breathing out your body gets more relaxed...

...while your mind stays alert

"to stay alert" here means that you are aware of the sounds...

...of the smells...

... of the chair's texture...

... of our clothing's texture...

You should enjoy this initial moment to...

...let your body get relaxed

and let the mind rest

from its usual pattern of

Self-intro - Duration: 10:23.

Hi lads, my name is Peter.

And I'm here to present my speech of self intro.

For those who hasn't presented yet, I wanna say that, you might think this speech

is very terrifying to you.

But I'd say, after learning, practicing, and being already here, you'll find the truth

that what you thought is not true.

The speech is not as bad as you think.

It's ACTUALLY WORSE.

It's horrible on the spot, ya know?

even though you're thinking that, imaging people are all not paying attention to you,

and think that they're all thinking about the porn video they saw last week.

It's still gonna terrify me.

Like I do now.

So this speech is right now let me shit my pants okay?

It just scares tons of crap outta me, you can tell.

But what I believe is that we're all gonna get through this,

and hope you're all gonna get good grades,,,

like I'll do.

My name is Peter, while my Chinese name will be Lin Jia-Hao, as y'all already know.

My family, Lin, came from Qishan, Kaosiung (高雄旗山)

and originally came from Guangdong (廣東), Fujian (福建),

so which makes me a Hakka person

我是客家人.

The hometown of mine is the same as most of yours, Taichung.

Or more specifically, Dali, Taichung.

For those of you who don't get the geographic concept of Dali,

there's a map for the relative positions.

Dali is my proud,

it is the home to many delicious foods such as 成功炒飯, 大呼過癮, 草湖芋仔冰, & 大里鹹菜餠,

and so many other awesome things.

So as a "Dalian", I would think,

I would think you're always welcomed to stop by anytime.

For getting to know my life, I think bringing 3 representative objects of my life

will help to a large degree.

This is a school bag from my middle school, which carries a lot of my memories too.

And the first thing is an old dictionary I read a lot when I was in kindergarten.

Ever since I was a kid,

there has been always a firm bonding between me and those written languages.

I loved to study them, I loved to appreciate their arts

like a weird kid did.

This dictionary represents my past and created who I am now.

And I still have a huge passion of those things.

The second thing is a deck of cards, I call it

"Geographic Knowledge Remastered SPECIAL EDITION" deck of cards.

My homeroom teacher gave me this

after I took a place on the Elementary School Geography Knowledge Contest.

Every card of the deck brings in trivias and quizes about the nations of the world, like these.

This represents my present.

I'll always imaging how awesome it'd be if I'm traveling or living abroad.

And I just freakin love geography, like crazy.

The last one is this vieogame, which you recognize.

I bought this videogame 11 years ago when I was 8,

called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

This adult game I played when I was 8

kinda pointed out the future path of my life,

that I wanna be in LA entertainment industry some day.

To bring people good stuff is always what I've been asking for.

So this represents my future.

So there's various challenges we're encountering,

and those favorite quotes that have been teaching me how to live my life, that I wanna share with you.

This is from "The Godfather". "Great men are not born great; they grow great."

It is not important how we're born with, but what we do with our lives.

If we just depend on parents all the time and don't work on our lives by ourselves.

We are just like empty, no contents in our minds.

The second one is from "F.r.i.e.n.d.s". "Welcome to the real world. It sucks! You're gonna love it."

There's always various challenges you're encountering in your live.

But it is because of them that make our lives colorful.

This is from Queen of England, Elizabeth I.

"I know I have the body of a weak, feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England, too."

When facing challenges, don't be the people who denies themselves

just because somebody already denies you.

Only you know what you're able to get,

and know what's your goals gonna be

And the fourth quote is,

"All men dream—but not equally. Those who dream by night, in the dusty recesses of their minds,

wake in the day to find that it was vanity...

But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible."

We have to work hard to accomplish our goals, not to daydream them all the time.

The fifth one is from my favorite movie, "Mulan". The emperor says,

"The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all."

To achieve our goals, do not allow setbacks to define your ability.

The ability to conquer the obstacles of your live is the most (great) ability we can get.

Hope we all get great lives, and my speech ends here, thank you.

Jersey Shore's Ronnie Ortiz-Magro: 'Self-Care,' 'Going to the Gym' Help Me Stay Sober - Live News 2 - Duration: 5:13.

On the heels of his rehab visit, is determined to stay sober — and he tells Us Weekly that going to the gym and having a workout routine helps him keep his body and mind in a healthy place

"They did a lot of self-care there," he tells Us exclusively of his one-month rehabilitation stint at HeadWaters at Origins holistic treatment center in West Palm Beach, Florida, to treat depression and alcohol abuse

"So it's really about taking care of yourself, eating healthy, going to the gym is a big one

"  Besides his fitness regimen and diet, the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star, 33, embraced a holistic approach to wellness at the center

"Basically, we got massages and, like, reflexology, and acupuncture. It really helps you focus on yourself," he says

"Because if you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anybody in your life

I can't take care of my daughter, I can't take care of my family. I can't take care of my friends

"  Ortiz-Magro shares 10-month old daughter Ariana with his ex, .  Though the reality star has always had a workout routine, he tells Us his aims are different now: "I try to get to the gym every day

Before it was like, 'Well, I've got to work out.' [Now], it's like just get to the gym and release some blood in your body, get it moving

It just makes you feel better and it helps your brain just start going, instead of just sitting there marinating on the couch

"  In the video below, Ortiz-Magro demonstrates his five simple go-to exercise moves: box jumps for legs, push-ups for biceps, shoulders and pecs, Russian twists for core and transverse abdominals, battle ropes for upper body and cardiovascular benefits and the foam roller to stretch it all out

As for his diet, the MTV personality said cleaning it up helped with his moods

"It basically just was high protein. No more junk food," he says. "That's another thing I noticed when I was drinking is, I would feel depressed

I would eat and I would just eat junk food. My thing was candies and chips and cake

It was just like I didn't care. I would still go to the gym and work out, but I wasn't getting the results that I used to get

"  He credits the facility for helping to change his eating habits. "In there, they fed us really well

I really enjoyed it," he says. "They kind of spoiled us in a way, because now I'm like, 'Oh now I've got to go home and start ordering Uber Eats again!'"  And his goal is to avoid going back to the way he ate when Jersey Shore premiered in 2009

"It's also taught me the way I used to eat when I first started the show, when I was really, really good shape is like, it's not about how you look

It's about how you feel," he says. "When you eat healthy, you feel healthy. Then when you look healthy, you feel good

"  While all his cast members and MTV have been supportive of his lifestyle changes — including , who has been sober for three-plus years — Ortiz-Magro can count on as a diet buddy

The 31-year-old has cataloged his 50-pound weight loss and body transformation on the keto diet on his @ketoguido Instagram account

Not that Ortiz-Magro will give his buddy credit for the inspiration! "What I tell Vinny is, 'Remember bro, I was dieting before you were dieting," he says

"You were still eating Polish Sunday dinners when I was eating grilled chicken and lettuce like a rabbit

"  With reporting by Emily Longeretta

We've seen a lot of benefits in the market

by implementing this solution at our current customers and we also believe that this is the way that

future of how

customers are interacting with their utilities.

For example, I know I would rather not have to pick up the phone and call my own utility.

I believe that's the way most.

We're seeing that's

how customers want to have their interaction they just want to self serve.

And to be honest

I'm getting to the point where I don't even want to do it. I want to set up my automatic payments if something goes wrong

Top 5 Self Control Album Songs[Laura Branigan] - Duration: 7:46.

Hey this videos about Laura Branigan album self-control and my top 5 favorite

tracks included in this Album

number five is breaking out I'm not listening to this song very often but I

think she got a good mix out of loud and quiet

parts in this song this is the reason why I like the song as I said I am not

listening to this song very often but when it's playing in the playlist I'm

not skipping it

number four is Tiamo same as the last one I'm not listening to this song very

often but is also a song mixed with loud and quiet parts I especially like the

start where she is singing very quiet but very musical it's just even a word

in English I don't know yeah yes she is singing very nice at the

start of course in the world track but the start is standing out a bit this

quiet style fits the song very good so number four really nice

next is satisfaction this is a song I am listening more often to like every one

or two days it's also in my most hurt playlist called the very best of all

time it's like a complete playlist of music I heard through my life starting

with Linkin Park then some better rap and now brenigan and something like 80

sound and I'm back happy every time I hear it because it's a loud song from

start to end but it's not the same kind of loud all

the time it's like starting loud when a new part brass it's called I think

starts but it's getting louder until the end of the verse or part we calling

apart and hook in rap and it's getting louder from start to end and the Cougars

are we're called in French I don't know is even louder than the paths and the

lyrics she sings in the hook is quite nice satisfaction when you are touching

me you start a chain reaction deep inside of me satisfaction I just never

knew that I could feel this way Oh baby I love you it's quite nice

especially when she is talking about the chain reaction starting keep inside of

her this is one of the biggest highlights in the song the whole track

is like one of my favorites of this album not only this album it's like no I

have three parts of songs the songs I listened sometime - I like them then

something like satisfaction I'm listening often and then I have

something like fool's affair self-control bad attitude and moonlight

and water and listening like once an hour if I have time if I'm not working

and yeah it's part of this and this often - but not like once an hour we

realize track I like it let's go to the next one

my second favorite song from self-control is the lucky one

it kinda describes me like 2017 something like this this song the scrap

you were well I was like person taking everything I can but not giving back

anything yes it's describes me well and it's a

great song I like the songs that Laura Branigan made like mama or the lucky one

the a big message behind it mama is like all talking about herself getting a

heart problem and the lucky one is about a person taking everything and not

giving back anything of thinking about what he or she has done and I quite like

this song because of the message and the sound to get a good package for a song

message and sound together for number 2 let's see what number one is

my favorite track from self-control is self-control but not because it's like a

song everyone likes and it was the first song I ever heard of her

now there's a reason but I think I'm making another video dedicated to this

it's this videos about why I like the music and not why especially like this

song I'm making a video soon talking about why I love this song so much and

why I not hate it but it broke my heart a bit at New Year's Eve but I really

like this song it's of course everyone knows its cover song from rough

self-control and I loved the original song for the lyrics and this song for

the sound I think 2 version of her half has the better lyrics and this is a

really nice sounding song of course everyone knows this but I wanted to

point this out yeah this is my number 5 collection of my favorite self-control

songs I hope you liked it I hope you don't hate me for my bad english I'm not

speaking English natively so it's bit hard like nobody here is talking English

and English I am going to school like once or twice a week and I'm like Laura

Branigan in English she talked about being very shy in school not even able

to raise her hand and I'm like this in English I'm having like a dread a but

not I'm not even talking English once in mum I'm the only time I was talking

English last year was when I was applying for a job and I had to work

like two weeks for the people to see if I'm good for this job or not and there

was one man coming in the store wanting to have some beer and I need to help him

but this was one one time in one year where I was talking English so it's

quite hard for me speaking English I don't know anyone anyone speaking

English yeah but I think it's can I get better yes so until the next video I

hope you liked it if you want to kind of course but you are list

in the comments so yeah until the next video bye
