7-Day Trip from Tokyo to Kyoto: Episode 2 | Japan's New Golden Route | japan-guide.com - Duration: 6:54.

Previously on Episode One.

In this three part series we are taking a seven day six night trip from Tokyo to Kyoto,

but not by the usual route along the Pacific coast known as the "Golden Route", which

most tourists take.

Instead we are traveling through Japan's "New Golden Route" which delves into the

country's rural interior, continues along the beautiful Sea of Japan coast, and finishes

at Kyoto.

A great way to travel along this New Golden Route is the Hokuriku Arch Pass, a 7-day pass

exclusively available to overseas tourists that allows for unlimited use of all the JR Lines

shown on this map, including the Hokuriku Shinkansen.

In episode one, which covered the first two days of our adventure, we made our way from

Tokyo to the Snow Monkeys in Nagano.

Now in Episode 2 we'll make our way along the Sea of Japan coast and end in the mountain

town of Takayama.

So join me, Sam Evans, as we travel from Tokyo to Kyoto along Japan's New Golden Route.

Day 3

We start the day traveling to Itoigawa City in Niigata Prefecture, where we'll enjoy

a scenic bike ride along the coast before having lunch at a local sushi shop.

We then head to Toyama Prefecture where we will take a train into the Kurobe Gorge, one

of Japan's deepest and most beautiful gorges, and end our day at Kuronagi Onsen.

After getting off the Hokuriku Shinkansen at Itoigawa Station, we backtrack a little

and take a local train to reach the town of Nou, where we head to the "Marine Dream"

roadside Station.

From there we'll enjoy a scenic 40 min bike ride along the coast, all the way to Sushi

Katsu, a sushi restaurant not far from Itoigawa Station.

It's the morning of Day 3 of our adventure and we are here in Nou in Niigata Prefecture.

Now what we're going to do this morning is hire a rental cycle and cycle a few kilometers

down that way into central Itoigawa.

It's a beautiful day, the birds are singing, so let's get on with this!

So we've got the rental bike, let's go!

We just arrived at Sushi Katsu, a traditional local sushi restaurant right by the coast

so you can bet the fish is going to be amazingly fresh.

Following our delicious sushi lunch we make our way by Hokuriku shinkansen and local train

to Unazuki Onsen.

There, we transfer to the Kurobe Gorge Railway to Kuronagi Station.

Our stop for the night is the remote riverside Kuronagi Ryokan located a picturesque 20 minute

hike from the station.

So we finished our wonderful riverside bath and we've sat down to our 3rd night's

meal.

And it's a traditional ryokan meal, which we've had now 3 nights in a row but notice

that they are all different, depending a lot on local specialties.

Day 4

After an enjoyable ryokan breakfast we head further up the gorge to Keyakidaira, the final

station of the Kurobe Gorge Railway, where we will take in some of the beautiful landscapes

before travelling all the way to Takayama, to enjoy some of the local cuisine.

We just arrived at Keyakidaira the final stop on the Kurobe Railway.

This place is famous for its natural beauty so let's go and explore.

It's now time to make a journey towards Takayama via the Hokuriku Shinkansen from

Kurobe-Unazuki Onsen to Toyama, and then take the Takayama line to Takayama, where we'll

head to the famous Old Town district to end our day with some local delicacies.

After starting out the day in the kurobe gorge we finally arrived in Takayama, which is famous

for its Old Town, and it's one of the most beautiful and well preserved in all of Japan.

When in Takayama there are 2 must try things: the delicacy of Hida Beef, and the local sake.

Tonight we're in a sake brewery's restaurant where I am going to enjoy both, ahead of our

big day tomorrow in which we are going to explore Takayama's old town before heading

on to Kanazawa.

Itadakimasu!

And that concludes Episode 2 of our journey.

Make sure to join us in Episode 3, as we explore more beautiful locations

and enjoy unique experiences

and finally make our way to Kyoto where our adventure will come to an end.

Japan Sakura Itinerary 2018! - Duration: 12:39.

Welcome to our chase for Sakura in Japan in 2018

This is our first stop at the Shinjuku Gyoen

This place is really huge we took about one and a half hour to really immerse ourselves in this Sakura season

Seriously everywhere you go. It's like in a drama. I can't express how much I love this place!

This is our next stop and this is a really pretty place as well

and these are the petals that we have collected~

Then it's night time and we're in Osaka. So he's actually bringing me to a restaurant which sells very nice steak

Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat it because it's a level two

But we went to level one... :(

And this is the highlight in Osaka the Glico man

Can you make that face?

Where do you wanna go?

DonDon Donkiiiiiii

Guess where we are heading~

Round One! I love this arcade!

Tada! To Sakura chasing again

The sakura trees are actually planted along the pathway when you walk

it's a really good experience I urge you to try it

And of course to Osaka castle

Welcome to, Nara!

I guess the deers are really full from all the food

They wouldn't want to eat food that actually has been dropped on the ground before as well

And hence we have the leftovers

After crossing this zebra crossing

We realized that deers on this end are actually hungrier

so you can actually have a higher chance of success to feed them

So the deers are actually said to bow back if you actually bow to them

and this boy failed

And he tries again

and he succeeded!

Our next stop is in Kyoto

And we are purifying ourselves with the water in the shrine, there are a few steps to follow and you go something like this

Nearby the shrine there's actually a Sakura Park

where you can actually sit down and have a picnic under the cherry blossoms

Be sure to also go visit the kichi kichi omurice the chef is really funny

Oh, this is where people write down their wishes and hang them up

Think we took about two hours to actually reach the top and this is how it looks like

In Kyoto, it is also common to see people in kimonos. There are a few rental shops for it

"If you jump down right, and you don't die - you can make a wish"

So this shrine is actually dedicated to the God of love and matchmaking

it is said that if one actually

Closes your eyes and reach to the other end of the stone. You can find your true love

However, if you actually need someone to guide you along to find a stone

It just means that you will need help from someone to find your true love

This is where you can donate 200 yen and pick a ticket that will predict your love life

These are some of the trinkets or souvenirs that you can buy back

In the evening, we went to our Arashiyama the sunset is really beautiful

Yep, that's a dead mosquito

And the next place we went to miss Haqqani you

Spot Mount Fuji

This is hakone shrine you can ring the bell and make a wish

And we are going to go on a ropeway to go to the peak of a mountain

The wind is crazy strong there

As you can see is actually quite barren there's nothing much yet to pay

There's only a torii gate as well as a temple that's sitting on the top of the mountain

And here comes the favorite part of my trip to Disneyland~

In my opinion Disneyland is more for kids, although some of the rides can be quite exacting as well.

I particularly like this Cinderella exhibit it's really so magical that the items are showing up one by one

And of course the next day we went to Disney see where it's more suitable for adult

The rides are more thrilling and exciting and this parade that you are seeing right now is actually for Easter Day celebration

Duffy bear and gang! When in Disney sea, please get their merchandise.

They are so cute and only exclusive to this disney sea

a pity due to weather conditions the night shows are cancelled

and this marks the end of our trip, bye!

She Loves Her New Pink Jersey! Santic Review [Cycling Japan] - Duration: 11:28.

hey, hey, hey

your new jersey is here

YAY!

I've been looking forward to this!

what's going on?

Two Wheel Cruise here

back in Japan

I've actually been here for a couple weeks

I've been waiting for my wife to come back to Japan

she's been gone for about two months now

and she finally just arrived back in Japan

we had a package waiting for us in the mail until we came back from our Taiwan trip

this is something I've been pretty excited about

this one company named Santic reached out to us

they're pretty big in the cycling industry so you might have seen their jerseys somewhere

anyway they sent over two jerseys to us

they wanted us to do a review

so that's what we're gonna be doing today

I just opened the package

Thuong hasn't seen these yet..

this one is mine

Thuong got a nice pink cycling Jersey

we're gonna be doing a nice test ride today

it's a beautiful sunny day here in Japan

we're gonna ride to Morikoro Park's Cycling course

first, let's show Thuong the new cycling jerseys

hey, hey, hey!

your new jersey is here

YAY!

it's here!

yours is the pink one

this one is mine

can I open it?

OK!

you like pink right?

yeah

well I am a lady!

hot pink!

cool!

santic cycling jersey

pink flower design

feels pretty breathable

seems like nice material

Thuong is XS in US size

Asia small size

let's look at the back next

some nice reflective materials on both sides nice big pockets in here as well

1, 2, 3, go!

you look super pro!

how do I look?

you're like a model

nice elastic strap and grip here

the size is perfect

let's go for a ride!

I'm also wearing my new cycling jersey

rainforest blue short sleeve jersey

both jerseys match our cycling shorts really well

our Two Wheel Cruise cycling kits

I went with a size medium, a more relaxed fit

what do you think of my new jersey?

you look pretty cool!

time for our ride! Let's test these new jerseys out on the course!

we're having a dinner party later today

Thuong cooked some Vietnamese food

Vietnamese spring rolls

something to look forward to after today's ride

I'll be riding Suika-chan today, my cyclocross bike

Thuong will ride her road bike

she hasn't ridden this road bike in over two months

we got this new top tube bag in Taiwan

nice and convenient

Let's go!

we've made it to the bike path

This is Morikoro Park Cycling course

We've made a video about here before

it's a really beautiful cycling only path

5 kilometer course, great place to cycle

really safe you don't have to worry about cars

first impressions.. I'm really liking the feel of the jerseys

BTW, this is not a sponsored video

we're not getting paid. So we can give our honest opinion

they did send us these jerseys though, so there is that..

but we're under no incentive to just say like positive things. So if these jerseys were crap I'd say they are crap.

We're still testing them, but so far for me

mine feels really breathable really nice. really good material especially on the elastic band for the waist grip

not too tight a fit perfect fit for me they recommended an M size for me

Thuong seems to be really liking her hot pink jersey

it looks really cool

here's more of the cycling course at Morikoro Park

there are km markers along the course

you look really cool!

nice fit for her

on these jerseys you can tell the quality is just this big elastic band

here down at the bottom you get a nice snug grip nothing too tight but you

don't want your Jersey just flopping around while you're riding so here we go

one of the downhill parts on the course

one of the downsides of this course is just lots of people out here riding

especially on the weekend you got a lot of people you got to avoid so if you

want to train hard like these guys get here early hard get here late

looks like tones motivated to chase thought there she goes

heck you're not the name better she jazzy doll as for my Jersey I'm feeling

really good about it really good materia here especially the elastic band here

just fits really well nice and smooth nice relaxing fit so this isn't exactly

race fit like our normal jerseys are but this is more of a club fit but as you

can see it's not too big not too loose or anything perfect nice and comfortable

so I think I'll use this for some more casual arrived and stuff and really like

the design with a nice Hawaiian theme here and especially two ones the designs

really cool the hot pink and everything so we're finishing up here at the

cycling course they close at about 4 p.m. so closes a little bit early really

liking the new kits Tennessee Josh de neige and I think tool especially will

wear hers more often she really likes pink and actually matches really well

with our kits so the nice bright blue the pink here the pink on the shoes

actually it looks pretty cool anyway we're gonna finish up our ride here

let's meet back in the bike room where we'll go over some of the extra details

about these shirts and how much they cost all right here we are back in the

studio thanks for watching so far today guys and if you're interested more in

the kits that we were riding today we'll be going over those details now so

here's my Jersey this is officially called the rainforest blue jersey I was

calling it my Hawaiian style shirt and first impressions of the ride again like

I mentioned earlier this is not a sponsored video we're under no

obligation to give like a positive review so we can give our honest reviews

and if I didn't like this I wouldn't be giving a positive review but the great

thing about both of these jerseys and this company is these jerseys are super

affordable so if you don't have much money and cycling equipment is really

really expensive these jerseys only costs officially on their website

without any discount mine is about $35 and tongues is only

about $39 so that's a pretty killer deal for the quality of jerseys that you're

getting here these are the summer jerseys these are super breathable it's

not just the same material throughout the entire Jersey you can see if you

look closely here in different parts of here it's super breathable you can see

through here right here so it's really nice and cool on those hot summer rides

and I mentioned a lot in the video this band here in the back which is really

important because you don't want your jersey just like flapping around

everywhere that's a really nice solid grippy been there another cool thing I

just noticed now on the inside of the Jersey they have this information sheet

so you can write your name some emergency contact information your blood

type and that's that's pretty ingenious I've never seen that actually on a

Jersey before but yeah I usually carry an emergency card with my information

but having it on your Jersey it always helps to have that information in as

many places as possible some other key points about the Jersey

we did mention I think earlier is the reflective bands here on both sides and

looking over at tooms Jersey as well a lot of the similar characteristics on

here we've got the same reflective bands here and hers actually has a cool

pattern here these raindrops or sweat marks or whatever they are here are

actually reflective as well so that's pretty cool mix in the center of the

design and you can see the same thing her Jersey here the material is

different depending on where you are in the Jersey this parts more breathable

whereas the front has a bit more solid fabric and her inside as well has the

emergency information as well as the nice grippy elastic band here and

usually with cheap cycling products cheap cycling jerseys you get a lot of

cheap materials but I haven't noticed anything really cheap on here you zip

right here which seems to be quality material and yeah first impressions I'm

really impressed at the quality of like this 35 and 40 dollar Jersey which has

features that cost a lot of money if you normally want these from one of the

bigger named brands and this company santak has been around ten years I

honestly didn't really know about them before they sent this to me but after

looking at their website they've got a couple of other products as well not

just cycling jerseys but they got some popular rain jackets on Amazon that I

noticed as well and it looks like they have shoes and other apparel accessories

as well but for now today we're just reviewing the jerseys which in my mind

get a solid thumbs-up the great thing about this is they ship internationally

worldwide for free so you're not paying for shipping on top of

this you can just if you like this pink jersey like toon does you can just spend

$40 and that includes the shipping with a tracking number to your home that's

pretty awesome and you can order these from their main site or they also have

their products listed on different Amazon sites so Amazon US and was on UK

and Amazon Japan so if you're more comfortable purchasing on Amazon you can

do it from there too and so yeah good quality affordable jerseys with free

shipping thumbs up a big thanks to santak for sending us these jerseys for

us to try out I think we're definitely gonna be riding these cart a bit if

there's any other companies out there who want to send us some products for us

to review we will gladly review them but keep in mind if the products are junk we

will give a negative review anyway that's it for today I gotta get back to

work tomorrow so I gotta head to bed soon and a big thanks to all of our

patreon supporters who helped make this channel possible if you're interested in

seeing our videos early we have early access with no advertisements over on

patreon so go check that out that's gonna be it for today guys as always

thanks for watching and we'll see you next time here on to your cruise

He's usually always in Philippines

but now, he's back in Japan

so today we went to Youtube Space together and did some video editing

Your channel need to have at least 10,000 subscribers to be able to enter Youtube Space

So thank you to my 210,000 subscribers

I can enter Youtube space and do video editing

So, I usually go there to do video editing

So, today we decided to go to a Philippine restaurant

Although he just came from the Philippines,

he will be eating Filipino foods again

You like it, don't you?

Many many (?)

You really like it, right?

I love Philippines

Oh! They're selling balot!

Wow!

Do you like balot?

No hahaha

Eat it. Eat it.

Me, I don't eat it

this video is sh**

-and now the rank of the #bamboochicks

I had some really aerodynamic hair

Just look at how Michela (it's me!! :) translator) did translate "gnocca di bambù

-only japanese girls

I also did the rank of the bamboo chick - singing edition

where was I ?!

just look at my position!

ok, let's go on with the rank, because there are some bestsellers!

$1 Sushi Vs. $133 Sushi • Japan - Duration: 19:55.

- We're back, we're in Tokyo, we're Worth It Japan part dwa.

- Is dwa a two in any language?

- It's French.

- Un, deaux, trois. - (laughing) wait, what.

- You combined two and three.

You know how you know we're in Tokyo?

The Tokyo Tower and the sound of cicadas.

(loud growl) You hear that?

- We had to bring along our friend, translator,

tasty producer, lovely person all around, Rie McClenny.

- Hi.

- We're gonna be eating things that come on rice.

- [Rie] In a shell.

- We may even put on some fancy clothing,

which we've never done for a restaurant before.

We're doin sushi.

- Well, let's go, how do you say let's go?

- (speaking foreign language)

- [Group] (speaking in foreign language)

- Today on Worth It, we're gonna be

trying three excellent sushi places

at three drastically different price points

to find out which one is the most worth it at its price.

- [Steven] And we made the mistake

of coming in 95 degree heat.

- Worth it.

- I'm super excited, the first place we're going to

is an highly automated sushi restaurant called Kura Sushi.

- We call it Kaiten-zushi, kaiten is like spin.

- Sushi is brought out to you on a conveyor belt.

- I wish I could be conveyor belted

to this restaurant right now.

- You want me to try?

- Yeah, conveyor belt me.

- Alright.

(grunt)

- [Rie] Bye.

- [Steven] I fought Yoshi.

(laughing)

(upbeat percussion music)

- (speaking in foreign language)

- For somebody who's never been

to a conveyor belt sushi before,

can you explain how it works?

- (speaking in foreign language)

- What are the advantages to having

the automated systems in the restaurant?

- (speaking in foreign language)

- Wow. - Whoa.

(laughing)

- [Steven] So excited, each of these plates is 100 yen.

- Approximately one US dollar.

Then we have self service green tea here.

- [Steven] Woo!

- [Andrew] Never seen someone so excited for hot water.

- Hot running water.

- Yeah at your table.

- Come on, sometimes my shower doesn't even do that.

- Kanpai.

- Kanpai.

- Hot!

This is the optimal time, it's like enough time

for you to look at it, decide if you want it,

but then it's like if you don't get it,

you're not gonna get it.

- It's like the Tinder of dining.

- Yes, swipe,

right. - Swipe right.

Alright, here we have two beautiful shrimp coming by,

come on Steven. - Okay,

maybe we should just go for it.

Pop it open, pop it.

- [Andrew] First hit, here we go.

- [Steven] Oh yeah.

- Here Steven,

- [Andrew and Steven] (speaking in foreign language)

- Perfect!

- Oh, now I'm excited, now I'm gonna grab,

hey how about some tuna.

- [Steven] Tuna!

- [Andrew] I love tuna.

- [Steven] Look at this long cut of tuna.

Cheers it up, that's so great!

- [Andrew] Yeah, we can have as many as we want,

they just keep coming.

- Ahh!

- Ever been in a lazy river?

- Yes, oh my God.

- This is the lazy river of food,

instead of you in the river,

the food is in the river, you just seize the river.

- [Rie] Sanma, it's a pike mackerel.

- [Steven] Mm, the fish was tender,

the rice was well packed, like satisfactory

in all of the ways that you want sushi to be, what is this?

- [Rie] If you get five plates.

- [Andrew] You get to play the game.

- [Andrew and Steven] Oh no!

- [Andrew] What happened?

- [Rie] You lost.

- [Andrew and Steven] Aww.

- So if we won, what would happen.

- You get the toy in a plastic ball.

- And then I want dessert, next.

Oh, fluffy ice with green tea red bean.

- [Andrew] Nice, the order was heard,

thank you. - Was heard.

(gasp)

- [Andrew] Oh here it is.

- [Steven] Cheers!

- Mm, that's what you need when it's hot outside.

- (whistled blow) Ice blast.

We're at eight plate count.

- [Andrew and Steven] Nine.

- [Andrew] I'll just do it.

- I touched it.

- Okay, we're at the baseball stadium,

I like it. - Come on.

Yeah, get home.

Oh, we won! - Did we really?

- [Rie] Yeah.

- [Andrew] No way, it's coming out.

(excited laughing)

Got some stickers.

- So I thank you for the meal.

(speaking in foreign language)

- [Andrew and Steven] (speaking in foreign language)

- That was wonderful.

- Fun and cheap.

- Yeah and very technologically advanced,

which I appreciate.

- So, we're headed to our next sushi spot,

but before we do that, we asked Rie for a suggestion

on any desserts that would look fish shaped.

- [Rie] We're here.

- [Steven] Here we are, here we are.

I love it, it's a beautiful stand.

- [Rie] Konnichiwa.

We are eating taiyaki, it's a fish shape pancake.

What do you want?

- [Steven] I want a red bean taiyaki.

- [Rie] Okay.

- [Steven] Andy wants matcha.

You can have the matcha one Andy.

Aw, it's so cute, I got the red bean.

- [Rie] It's a green tea.

- Alright, we're gonna try this taiyaki now.

I also have red bean.

- Alright.

- Look, fish, cheers.

- [Andrew and Rie] Cheers.

- [Group] Mm.

- [Steven] (speaking in foreign language)

In the 1980s, Norway had too much salmon.

And so there was a guy who was tasked

by the Norwegian government to sell some of it to Japan.

He was able to strike a deal with a company called Nishi Ren

and that catapulted salmon into the sushi market in Japan.

- We didn't have salmon sushi before that.

- That is a great international collab,

to bring a new all star food into prominence.

- [Rie] When you eat fish shape food,

do you eat from the head or but?

- [Steven] Head.

- [Rie] Head.

- Where we goin next Andrew?

- So next we're on our way to a place,

called Shun sushi, is that right?

- I'm here.

And it comes recommended by one

of our colleagues named Hitomi actually.

- Yep, my work wife.

- Your work wife?

- [Rie] Yeah so this restaurant is neighborhood sushi joint.

Somewhere you wanna go once in a while

when you are craving sushi, sushi chef knows you.

- Oh, that's what I want.

- Yeah.

- I want my sushi chef to know me.

How do you get a work wife?

- You have a work wife.

- [Steven] Who?

(laughing)

(upbeat piano music)

- (speaking in foreign language)

- I'm curious how long you've worked as a sushi chef.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- Today we're gonna be ordering the omakase set.

- Hai.

- What is the choice of fish

that you're gonna be serving us.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- Yes, absolutely. - Yes.

- So what do we have coming first Rie?

- [Andrew] Sake.

- [Group] Kanpai.

- Do we shot this, or, no we just, okay.

(laughing)

- [Andrew] Ooh, he's grating wasabi.

- You know what I love about sushi?

You're seeing everything that goes into

what your money is going to.

- [Rie] So this is chutoro.

- Here we go, first bite.

- [Andrew and Steven] (speaking in foreign language)

- Pure and utter joy.

- You know it's not like a piece of fish

on top of some rice.

It tastes like a single unit.

- Yeah.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- (speaking in foreign language)

- That was delicious.

- Mm, so happy.

- Very pleasant texture, it's also really interesting,

the temperature that it arrives.

Sushi, I don't think, is a cold food.

It becomes a part of your mouth instantly.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- The best temp, is body temp.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- It's unbelievably sweet.

- Yeah, it's kinda light.

- What did you do to the uni?

- (speaking in foreign language)

- It tastes like melon.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- Mm, the squid was, ex-squid-zit.

- In a word, it was, Squidward.

(laughing)

- What do you think is the special elements

about a sushi dinner like this, like us sitting here?

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- So is it mini shrimp?

- [Rie] Yeah.

- [Andrew and Steven] Wow!

- [Steven] All raw.

Mm, oh my God.

- [Rie] Saltwater eel called anago.

- Yeah, Annie's face just perked up,

it comes out and she's like.

- [Andrew] Wow, look at it.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- Hey yo, it was almost like biting into a crepe cake.

- Yes.

- I saved it for Annie, tamagoyaki.

We really appreciate it, thank you very much.

- Shun sushi.

- It ended too shun.

(sarcastic laughing)

- I love it, it was very comfortable.

Chef was very friendly, and I loved the conversation.

- I realize today, I want a sushi chef

like I want a hair stylist.

My hair stylist is the person I see

probably more regularly than everybody else in my life.

I want that for a sushi chef.

- Yeah.

- This is my sushi dance, I've decided.

- [Rie] What partied sushi.

- We're going to our final sushi spot,

a place called Kyubey, and from what I understand,

we need to get a little bit fancy.

Rie, what's goin on here?

- It's rimi shransta sushi, everyone knows Kyubey.

The chef from Shun knows, my dads know, it's very famous.

- Alright, let's go get that Kyubey.

- Oh, the reason we're dressed up is because

we're eating in a restaurant with a dress code.

I cannot believe that we got such

a prestigious sushi restaurant in Tokyo.

- Let's do it.

(upbeat orchestral music)

- (speaking in foreign language)

- Everybody we've talked to in Japan says Kyubey is amazing.

Why do you think Kyubey is so popular here?

- (speaking in foreign language)

- I mean, this has gotta be one of the,

I don't even know how to talk, let's just eat.

- One of the greatest opportunities we've had on this show.

- Yes, I'm a little nervous.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- [Andrew] Wow.

- Big inhale.

No, no, no, more, more, more.

Don't afraid, and this is a top tool to grind.

This is shark skin.

- Oh, wow. - Wow.

- Please touch it here.

- [Andrew] Real shark skin?

Arigatou, Gozaimasu.

- [Chef] Just one hand is okay, too polite.

(laughing)

- I'll be less polite.

(laughing)

- [Group] Kanpai.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- Mm, it's gonna be a good night.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- [Rie] So this is tai snapper.

- [Andrew] Why does he tap it with the knife?

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

Feel? - Yeah

- Here, no? - No, sorry.

- I'll make wasabi double than them.

- [Steven] You're not strong enough Andrew.

- I'm scared.

- [Chef] Don't feel?

- Mm, I feel it now, very good, yeah.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- [Andrew] Oh wow, there's green onion underneath them.

So excited.

- [Steven] What is this fish?

- [Chef] This is turbot.

- [Andrew] Oh, turbot?

- And touch top the sushi, this side, bottom and fish.

Softly, softly, and you have.

- It was really amazing.

- Yeah, the springiness of it.

- You try the next way to pick up with the finger.

- Okay. - Okay.

- Thumb and center finger.

- [Steven] Are you gonna eat that?

- [Rie] He keeps those live shrimp

in a same temperature as the sea water.

Slightly warm rice with cold shrimp.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- [Steven] Finger.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- [Rie] (speaking in foreign language)

So he's gonna give Annie a cooked shrimp.

- Already seasoned.

- Uuuuni.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- Are you kidding me? - Are you kidding me?

- [Andrew] Your father invented this style?

- [Chef] Yes.

- They make this in Ohio.

- Please go while the seaweed is dry,

I want to hear the crispy noise of seaweed.

- That is incredible tasting.

- That was everything, cold, uni, the wasabi burn,

the warm rice, the crunchy seaweed, everything.

- I would have thought that,

that was like hundreds of years old.

- That style called Gunkan-maki, Gunkan is a battleship.

- Oh, Gunkan-maki.

- I love that.

- Battleships.

- Cause they kinda look like battleships.

- That's my favorite.

- We should get some more sake.

- No, would you like some Adam?

Adam's a sucker for good glasses.

Adam took a sip of the sake and said,

I just realized how all sake

was supposed to taste for the first time.

- Yeah.

- [Chef] Head of shrimp.

- [Rie] I think he wanna utilize all the ingredients,

the real head to tail.

(laughing)

- It's like a little shrimp chip.

- [Rie] (speaking in foreign language)

- Mm, wow, wow. - Oh, oh, mm.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- [Steven] It's so beautiful.

- Oh wow, that was really new tasting for me,

because I've had a lot of sardines before

but never like this baby taste.

- Yeah I was expecting more of a fishier taste.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- [Andrew and Steven] Mm.

- Wow, it's so custardy, it's like flan.

- Wow.

- And then Adam died.

- [Chef] (speaking in foreign language)

- [Group] Aw.

- [Rie] What a hospitality.

- Usually when I put on my suit

I have to go somewhere I'm thinking

what is this night gonna bring me but havin a great.

(gasping)

(laughing)

- [Rie] Abalone.

- Wow.

- Havin a great time.

Feel like I'm hangin out

in somebody's basement just playing video games.

- I feel like I've stepped in something I can never go back.

- The thing that was, every piece had

its own kick about it, or it's own character.

- It's own personality.

- Yeah.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- [Rie] This is it.

- Have a question?

- I do, I have one question?

Why is sushi so great?

- (speaking in foreign language)

- Well thank you very much. - Thank you so much.

- (speaking in foreign language)

- We are glad you enjoyed.

- [Andrew] It was so good.

- Thank you very much.

- I'll never forget it.

- Guys I wanna say, ya'll look snazzy today.

Adam especially.

- You don't look too bad yourself there.

- Thank you very much.

Doesn't change the fact that we have to do our jobs.

And our job today is which sushi restaurant

was the most worth it to you at its price?

- I truly loved every place we went to,

although at first glance a lot

of the preparations might look the same,

you really got a completely different thing

at every restaurant.

And I think each would be worth

going to at their price point.

For me, if I came back to Tokyo,

I would go to Kyubey, I think it's that good,

it would be worth the price every time.

- Rie?

- I liked this episode a lot,

sushi's something special in Japan

and you can enjoy different level.

My Worth It winner is Kyubey.

- [Steven] Oh, I knew it.

It's also not too expensive.

- You can spend a lot more at a restaurant.

- I wanted Shun to be my winner

because it was like my barber of sushi.

But I do also have to go Kyubey.

He paid attention to every detail, Annie?

- Kura sushi.

- Wow, Adam?

- [Adam] I liked Kyubey.

- [Steven] Kyubey,

Kyubey. - Wow.

- That's it for sushi, quick shout out to Daiki,

all this way from Taisai, Japan,

who helped us get into Kyubey.

We're still in Japan, we got one more episode here.

- It's Rie's favorite food.

And we're visiting a special old friend

next week on Worth It.

- [Andrew] He noticed you were left handed right away.

Have you ever felt so noticed?

- [Steven] No, I didn't feel noticed

when I went into seventh grade

and all the chairs were built for right handed people.

So, he's better than chair manufacturers, that's for sure.

- [Steven] Oh, yes!

Powerful typhoon approaches southern Japan, charts course for main island

Powerful typhoon approaches southern Japan, charts course for main island.

A powerful typhoon brought heavy rain and high winds as it approached southern Japan on Saturday, leading to flight cancellations and power outages in several cities.

Typhoon Trami, rated category 2 by Tropical Storm Risk, with category 5 the highest, is the latest storm to threaten Japan in a year of grim weather-related woes, including punishing heat, heavy rains and landslides.

Outlying islands in the Okinawan chain, some 1,000 km southwest of Tokyo, were being pounded by heavy rain and high tides a day before an Okinawan gubernatorial election on Sunday.

Strong wind knocked down trees, blew off an outer wall from a building and left five people injured in Naha, a city in Okinawa.

Trami also caused power outages in more than 30 towns in Miyakojima island, according to public broadcaster NHK.

NHK also said airlines had cancelled more than 380 flights, mainly those flying in and out of Okinawa.

Trami was about 60 km (37.3 miles) south of Kume island, with winds gusting as high as 216 kilometres an hour (134 mph).

Churning north across Okinawa on Saturday, Trami is then predicted to move across the islands of Kyushu and the main island of Honshu on Sunday, a path similar to that taken by typhoon Jebi early in September.

Jebi, the most powerful storm to hit Japan in 25 years, brought some of the highest tides since a 1961 typhoon and flooded Kansai airport near Osaka, taking it out of service for days. .

JAPONYA Neresi? BLM1/ Where is JAPAN? Episode1 - Duration: 8:27.

When I return to my home country,

this sight will be the first thing

that will come to my mind if I hear about Japan.

Train is coming.

Because, a lot of type of trains are

always on time,

coming and going

everywhere etc

And it's a very expensive transportation means.

And this announcement

will keep ringing in my ears.

Train to Chiba direction will soon arrive to second line.

Since it's dangerous, stay behind yellow line.

Originally, my plan was to make videos about daily life in Japan

but when I started going on trips around Japan I totally forgot about it.

I want to talk a little bit about Japan before about daily life.

Japan, aka land of the sun,

is an archipelago consisting of about

6850 islands which 4 of them are large.

at far east of north hemisphere.

Japan's capital city, Tokyo, is in Honshu which is the largest island.

It can be said that Tokyo is right in the middle of Japan.

The second largest island, Hokkaido,

joined the map of Japan later than others.

with its samurais,

hot springs, temples,

sumo wrestling, sakura period,

sushi, mangas and animes and colorful festivals

Japan is a very appealing country to many people around the world

98% of Japan's population is ethnic Japanese.

In the past the country had spent centuries in isolation from the world

apart from a few exceptions.

So neither they went out of Japan

nor they accepted anything from outside Japan

It can be said that it is still important to be pure Japanese

even in today's society.

Maybe because of this isolationest system,

Japanese people think some common things

in Japan are unique or very rare.

For example, 4 seasons in a year.

Actually, we can even say there are 5 seasons in Japan.

Autumn, winter, spring, rainy season and summer.

Total land area is 378.000 km²

and population is about 127 million.

It means half of Turkey's land area

and 1.5 times more population than Turkey's.

According to the constitution, emperor is the symbol of nation and government's union.

Emperor's authority is pretty limitted and Country is governted by prime minister.

Prime minister is Shinzo Abe since 2012.

Japan is the 3th biggest economy in the world

with its 4 trillion dollars of national income.

You can clearly observe the strong hierarchical society life when you live in here.

Social and business relationships are formed hierarchically.

The rules are not violated and everyone fulfills the requirements of their status.

Personally, I think this economic power is a result of

living their lifes with a feeling of responsibility.

Of course, this system that everbody yearns for also has some negative effects to individuality.

We will talk about these afeects later on an another video

Direct flights from Turkey to Japan takes approximately 11 hours.

on that flight, you notice for the first time how far actually far east is.

Turkish Airlines has 2 direct flights everyday.

There are some options for flights with transfers.

Usually, best price options are on Skyscanner website.

Flights with transfers are better for your budget

but they might take 2-3 times longer than direct.

So be careful about flight duration when you search for a ticket.

Japan does not require tourist visa from Turkish citizens.

Visa is given on airport gates untill 3 month long at most

For longer stays, a visa is required.

Probably, due to the long distance between countries,

Turkey and Japan has always had good political relationships.

The Turkish like the Japanese and the Japanese also like the Turkish.

Of course, there are some occasions that happened in the past which caused these good relations.

There is even a movie about these occasions.

The movie is Ertugrul 1890 in Turkish, Kainan 1890 in Japanese

directed by Mitsutoshi Tanaka.

The movie Turkish-Japanese co-production.

In 1890, Ertugrul frigate sunk at Kushimoto,

about 400km southwest of Tokyo.

In the aftermath, Japanese villagers rescued Turkish survivors and tended them

And the Turkish, in 1985, conducted a rescue operation

for Japanese people who were stranded in Tahran during Iran-Iraq war.

These are the 2 main reasons that created this mutual liking .

I had a chance to visit Kushimoto in 2017.

Since it is a bit far not everybody has a chance to visit.

There is a Turkish museum which displays some weapons,

uniforms from the wreckage and some informations from the era.

There is an Ertugrul monument and Atatürk statue around the museum.

Thanks for watching.
