My name is Joey Chamness. I'm a junior here at IU Bloomington and I'm majoring in

finance and marketing. So I've been coming to the campus for a long time and

it's always been a university I've been interested in going to. I decided that

this is really where I wanted to spend all four years of my college career.

Being a Kelley student, it's challenging every day. A lot of my classes can be

pretty difficult but I really enjoy that. So the IU Student Foundation, I've been

involved with since first semester freshman year. Each different semester,

you're on a different committee, so I've served on quite a few at this point.

There's a lot of things I like about the Foundation. A big part of it is the

social aspect. I met some great friends through my time there and then just

getting to be a part of the Little 500. When you're an IUSF member, you become

a gunner. Which pretty much you know stands for you're "gunning" on a spot on

next year's steering committee. So you're really competing for a spot, trying to do

all you can with the different spring events, just with set-up and running the

actual track the day of the different events, and everything that goes into the

final product of the Little 500. So really, a lot goes into it and it's

challenging, but it's also, you know, really fun and rewarding. It's a great

event and, you know, I think that's really true and I'm really proud to get

to be part of that. So Saint Baldrick's is a foundation that raises money for

children's cancer research through head-shaving events. That's something I've

been involved with since I was diagnosed with cancer myself, when I was eight

years old. I had bone cancer. After our first kindof unofficial head-shaving

event, we've been putting on, you know, actual Saint Baldrick's events, and last

year I decided to bring it to the IU campus and started an event at my fraternity

Beta Theta Phi. IU's just given me a lot of great opportunities. My involvement

with IUSF has been really important. It's really helped me grow as a leader

and I think that the great part about a big university like IU is that

you have all those opportunities available for you.

Nyle DiMarco Speaks At Illinois State University - Duration: 2:01.

Tyra: "My name is... Nyle."

HE'S WON AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL...

[music playing]

DANCING WITH THE STARS...

AND NOW?

THE HEARTS OF ILLINOISANS. [cheers]

NYLE DIMARCO HAS BEEN DEAF SINCE BIRTH,

BUT THAT HASN'T STOPPED HIM FROM FOLLOWING HIS DREAMS

AND TURNING HIS DIFFERENCES INTO ASSETS.

STUDENT ACCESS AND ACCOMMODATION SERVICES HOSTED THE EVENT,

TITLED, 'LIVING OUT LOUD WITH NYLE DIMARCO'.

STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND MEMBERS OF THE DEAF COMMUNITY

CAME OUT TO SEE THE STAR SPEAK

AND EVEN HAVE A WORD WITH HIM FOR THEMSELVES.

"How old are you?" [audience laughs]

RJ: "He really did, like an amazing job on trying to expand

and try to, like, give our deaf culture a perspective to the hearing people that they might...

not understand from our perspective,

and I thought he, like, spoke really drastically about that topic. It was amazing."

[applause] DIMARCO COMES FROM A MULTI GENERATIONAL DEAF FAMILY,

AND HE SAYS THAT THEY INSPIRE HIM TO PERSEVERE AND ACHIEVE HIS GOALS.

" Sign it with me, 'Embrace yourselves.'"

THE STAR ALSO HAS A VOICE IN THE LANGUAGE EQUALITY AND ACQUISITION FOR DEAF KIDS,

AND HAS CREATED THE NYLE DIMARCO FOUNDATION

WHICH WORKS TO PROVIDE DEAF CHILDREN WITH LANGUAGE

[laughs]

DURING THE CRITICAL LEARNING PERIOD FROM BIRTH TO AGE FIVE.

AN INSPIRATION TO MANY, DIMARCO STILL FINDS HIS GROWING PRESENCE UNBELIEVABLE.

Nyle: "I'm surprised by this on a daily basis because

I forget about it, and then I go and I speak,

and then I realize I'm an inspiration.

And it's flattering, and

it's also a lot of responsibility.

But I feel like it's a responsibility that I can shoulder,

and I'm more than happy to do it."

NYLE IS LIVING PROOF

THAT THE SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS IN LIFE DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE TAUGHT WITH SPOKEN WORD.

Brainiac (Explained in a Minute) | COMIC BOOK UNIVERSITY - Duration: 2:18.

Hey, guys, Professor Bill of Comic Book University and I'm going to explain Brainiac in about a minute.

Brainiac's first appearance was in "Action Comics #242" July 1958 and he was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino.

[Brainiac… Perhaps the single most consistent force of destruction known to sentient life.]

Brainiac was once Vril Dox, an alien from the planet Colu.

[No one individual, no army, no entity has caused so much destruction; has washed his hands in oblivion.]

A techno-organic being with a 12th level intellect, Brainiac searches the universe for new civilizations.

Once discovered, he categorizes their data, miniaturizes a sample population, and destroys the rest.

Brainiac is a high-level telepath with telekinetic abilities.

He is also a technopath, able to speak with and control any machinery he comes across.

He can transfer his consciousness to any man or machine, giving him a form of serial immortality.

The bodies he creates for himself give him strength enough to rival even Superman and he employs force field tech that even the Man of Steel cannot breach.

[Countless civilizations have been systematically wiped out of existence.

Why do I tell you this?

Simple.

Because I am Brainiac.

Because your little blue planet is next, and there is nothing… nothing you can do to escape me, and you have no means to stop me.]

Brainiac has a weakness, he is susceptible to the various germs and bacteria that exist outside the sterile environment of his skull ship.

[You are anathema, but you will be cataloged for future study, and then you will be discarded.

Make your peace, human, for I am Brainiac, and you are just information to me.]

And that's Brainiac in about a minute.

40 Hours for the Forty Acres: Together We Can - Duration: 2:31.

Marching out of the tunnel on game day is the coolest thing I, and all of our

Longhorn Band members, ever get to do. Performing in front of 100,000

cheering fans is an unforgettable and incomparable

experience.

The Fun With Chemistry outreach program is one of my favorite things that I get

to do here at The University of Texas. We go out to local Austin schools, blow

stuff up, and try to show kids that science is fun and entertaining, and I

know for that second I blew their mind with chemistry. Social work is important

to me because I care about people. This is an opportunity for me to invest in

people from start to finish and really make a difference in the world. The one

thing I love about Rec Sports is that there's something to offer for

everyone. It's a place to be healthy, be active, even have a little competition

against other people that think I'm not cool. You can cut that last part off. It's

a place where I can socialize with my friends and get healthy at the same time.

For 40 hours, Longhorn Nation comes together to recognize the people, the

places and the programs that change the world during 40 for Forty. Your gift supports

amazing recreation programs for every Longhorn. Your gift supports science

education for thousands of kids in Texas. Your gift supports future social workers

like me. Your gift supports every student. Together we can inspire the next

generation of scientists. Together we can help build connections for every

student that last a lifetime. Together we can keep Texas traditions alive. Together

we can make the world safer and healthier for everyone. Together we can

build a better future. Make your gift during 40 for Forty. 40 for Forty.

DEVA DEVA DEVUDA -Telugu Short film by Sai Shasank Cherukupalli-SASTRA UNIVERSITY - Duration: 9:13.

Hello all.. My name is Shasank

From many years

I have a doubt

There is a person

whom we never met

We will think about him everyday

His name is GOD

My doubt is....

Does GOD exist?

According to some incidents that I had came through

I got a clarification on whether GOD exists or not?

Now you too watch those incidents...

Sir,as you told me

I am bringing 10 lakhs to your home

He has 10 lakhs with him

Sir,Where is this address?

If you go straight you will see a temple

Then turn left

After reaching that street you will find the house

Hey...that's my bag

Sir....Stop

Hey where is my bag ...my money

What is this GOD? Everything is because of you

What should I answer to my owner?

What mistake have I done?

Why have you done this to me?

What kind of man is he?

Why does he blame GOD?

If anything bad happens why do you blame GOD?

GOD...Why have you done this to me?

Don't blame GOD for your mistakes

Second incident......

It's been three years. Is there any use?

Nothing

Some religious teacher told me

to do some holy things

What happened? I wasted my 3 lakhs

With the money which I gave to that religious teacher

he bought a maruti suzuki car

But no benefit for me

What is his problem?

Why did he do that religious things?

Why is he talking like this?...Watch it

It's been hard time

As that fake religious teacher told,

Daily I am doing some religious things for my child

Still he is unable to speak

Please help my child

I have no words to scold you

Why did you blindly followed

that fake religious teacher

World is crazy

You can have belief in GOD

Don't link that fake religious teacher with GOD

They are earning money by spoiling GOD's name

Don't believe them

Third incident...

Let's go to temple

I don't have faith in GOD

Faith in GOD is not the matter

Why should I come to temple without faith?

We are going to temple for relaxation

Many of us go to temple

Not because of faith in GOD

For knowing what we are

There is a power in this world

Name of that power is GOD

For proving that GOD exists,I will tell an example

There are many people in this world

What happens if everyone

becomes a software engineer?

There will be no farmers

If everyone becomes rich,no one will

work under us

There will be no slaves

So,GOD is the person who is balancing everything in this world

So,there exists a power

It is ruling the entire world

Many of you

may or may not believe in GOD

But GOD is a strength for soft and weak hearted people

Brock University International Student Ambassador Application--Jiaqi Meng - Duration: 2:01.

Hi, my name is Jiaqi, I am a second-year student of Goodman School of Business

I am majoring in accounting

There are three reasons why I feel I would make an excellent international student ambassador

for Brock University

The first one is I love Brock

I am very passionate and excited to promote our university

There are a lot of opportunities in Brock where I can gain a lot experience from, and there

are a lot of staff who are always ready to offer help

All of these things encourage me to get out my comfort zone

It makes me stronger in my heart, more independent and more confident

I hope I can let more and more people know this wonderful university

The second reason is I have a lot experience to share with these potential incoming students

As you know I am a second-year student

I have been in Brock almost two years

No matter on or off campus, extracurricular activities or academic experience, I have

a lot to share with them

The third reason is I genuinely hope I can be helpful to international students.

I am an international student, I feel I can totally understand how they would feel when

they first come to Canada, first come to Brock

I still remember when I first came here, of course, I felt very excited, but at the same

time, I felt confused and overwhelmed because everything was totally new to me

But there were a lot of people helping me, they gave me a lot of suggestions

and tips about how to be successful in university and how to deal with different kinds of stuff in my daily life

I deeply appreciate it

Without their help, I could not get used to the life here so quickly

I hope with my help, the incoming international students would feel less confused and more

quickly get used to the life here

These are my three reasons

Thank you so much for watching

Leadership lived: Colleen McMahon - Duration: 2:21.

My name is Colleen McMahon and I'm a senior here at UIS studying business management,

communication and international studies.

I'm the current chapter president of Gamma Phi Omega's Captivating Chi Chapter.

I'm the president of the UIS Greek Life Council.

I am a peer mentor in the Capital Scholars Honors Program.

I'm a member of Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society and I'm a member of the Organization

of Latin American Students.

Today, we put on a presentation about the Dos and Don'ts of Greek Life for people that

are interested in bringing new Greek organizations to our campus and we wanted to make sure that

they understood what goes into being a member of Greek Life on this campus and being a member

of a Greek organization in general.

As the president of the Greek Affairs Board, I'm in charge of making sure that the different

Greek organizations here work together and they get along and they follow the rules that

the university has set for Greek Life organizations.

As one of the 15 founders of Gamma Phi Omega here at UIS, my role in this was to really

bring together our sisters and to get this organization ready for when we would start

recruiting other people.

So, we had to create those governing documents and to create they type of events and things

we wanted to do on this campus that would create a legacy that other people would want

to be a part of in the future.

I love Gamma Phi Omega because it's the support network that I didn't necessarily think I

needed at first and I think a lot of people can relate to this in that, we weren't always

interested in Greek Life, it wasn't something that we saw our self being a part of, but

once we got to where we were interested, we became members of it.

It became a support network beyond our undergraduate careers.

After I graduate from UIS, I want to go to graduate school and get my master's in multicultural

communication and I hope to work in higher education.

My like association with UIS is that I've always had these experiences in leadership

and I've grown as an individual in ways that I would have never guessed before I came to college.

The Innovative Teaching Summer Institute at Columbia University - Duration: 2:50.

- [Announcer] The Innovative Teaching Summer Institute

produced by the Center for Teaching and Learning

at Columbia University is a unique opportunity

for Columbia doctoral students to attend a summer institute

where they learn about active pedagogy

and new media tools that's support it.

Discover and discuss teaching techniques

across disciplines.

And shape an innovative assignment

that they will use in their teaching.

Select institute participants are then eligible

for financial and technological support

as they apply discoveries from the institute.

- I came to the institute with sort of just kind

of a germ of an idea, and the way

that this institute has really helped me is sort

of thinking about all the things that I hadn't

even thought about before, so all

of the components that go into an assignment,

the way that you evaluate the assignment,

the way that you evaluate the way

that you're presenting the assignment,

the different options in terms of technology

that can enhance the assignment.

I really sort of went in with just maybe a three

sentence idea of what I wanted to do,

and now it's really become a more full fledged assignment.

- I'm at a table with people that are first

and second year students and people who are finishing

up their phds and going on the job market.

So really being able to have that collaborative

experience with people that are in different levels

of their development is really key

in helping you to become a better educator,

a better student, a better learner.

- The great thing about the institute was it's a pretty

large group, but we were divided

into these smaller groups, and I think it was really

beneficial just to be able to hear other people's ideas.

People who were in very different fields

from mine.

I actually will probably steal some

of them.

And it was just a great chance to sort of talk

through each other's ideas.

People asked me really good questions

about my assignment that helped me

to formulate it better.

I think it was a wonderful sort of collaborative

experience.

- One of my fears coming into this seminar,

and, you know, mild fear was that we would be sort of

pressured to find ways to stick technology

onto our classes whether or not it was a particularly

good fit or not.

Just to sort of get on the bandwagon

of the, you know, the march of technological change.

We should not be trying to figure out how technology fits

a class, we should be thinking the other way around.

We should be thinking about the objective

of the course.

- I would absolutely recommend the institute

to anyone, really at any level of teaching.

It seems like everyone's benefited.

Even the really basic things.

Being forced to sit down, think it through,

and actually articulate sort of what you're doing

and why has been more beneficial than I have even

thought it would be.

And just on a personal note, I'm feeling a lot more

confident about going into my first teaching experience,

which is great.

Modeling, Simulation & Visualization Engineering at Old Dominion University - Duration: 2:07.

Engineering is about problem solving… and modeling and simulation is problems solving

on steroids.

It's taking information from every field you can possibly think of and finding a way

to model it mathematically and then create a simulation that will allow you to predict

behaviors.

It's a program that deals with creating models that simulate real life scenarios.

What our degree represents is the ability to take a problem and solve it in a way that

very few people can.

From transportation to cybersecurity, to healthcare systems, robotics, game development

platforms, you can use M and S anywhere.

I am actually interning at NASA Langley Research Center, working with developing augmented

virtual reality applications.

Some of the work we do is with NASA and I've have the opportunity to work with them on

the space habitat were building.

It's a very specialized degree and we're the only institution in the country that offers

an undergraduate in that degree.

You're not only an engineer, you're a programmer.

You're doing a lot of hands-on interaction with a lot of the different programs, like

arena and Simeo.

You're not just knowing the math and everything behind it, you actually getting to physically

use these different programs and devices you'll actually use once you're out in the workforce.

Many of our students have two or three job offers before they even graduate.

I had a couple of job offers while I was still in school.

I've transformed from a student who didn't really know what they wanted to do, to having

multiple job offerings and finding myself along the way in and really nailing down and

pinpointing what is a want to do with my life.

University of Sunshine Coast trials vaccine for coeliac disease

The University of the Sunshine Coast's Clinical Trials Centre will trial a new vaccine that aims to improve the lives of those with coeliac disease by switching off their immune response to gluten.

Coeliac disease is a serious chronic medical condition in which eating gluten, even in small amounts, leads to an immune response that causes damage to the small intestine.

Currently, the only way to manage the disease is to avoid gluten - something that is difficult and expensive, with the product used in a wide range of food.

Centre director Lucas Litewka said the vaccine would be given to trial participants as an injection twice a week for seven weeks.

He said the trial would be conducted alongside gastroenterologist James Daveson.

Dr Daveson said a gluten-free diet was exceptionally demanding for patients, expensive and difficult to maintain, as gluten was used extensively in modern food production.

"There is a real unmet need for therapies other than the gluten-free diet for some people with coeliac disease," he said.

"This is a very exciting potential new therapy that has been undergoing clinical trials for several years now.

Dr Daveson said the investigational vaccine might potentially restore gluten tolerance in coeliac disease sufferers.

Adults between the ages of 18 and 70 can take part in this trial if they have medically diagnosed coeliac disease and have been following a strict gluten-free diet for 12 months or more.
