- Okay, everybody ready?

- [clears throat] - Okay, Bobby, action.

- Dear Future Self,

Remember when you'd think online banking wasn't for you?

I do.

But then your friends at Victory Tower

told you about Ready, Set, Bank.

After going through the classes and watching the videos,

you recognized how online banking has changed your life.

You don't have to worry about late fees,

or your safety to and from the ATM or post office.

You're more relaxed and confident.

I hope you're still using the app

to check your balance.

Ready, Set, Bank got you interested in technology.

I know you're going to continue to explore.

It's never too late to keep learning new things.

Sincerely, Bobby.

[gentle musical flourish]

[upbeat music]

Ready, Set, Bank has helped me

open my eyes-- eyes open to more technology.

Online banking, it changed my life,

where I can go out of town,

don't have to worry about my bills being paid,

late fees, anything like that.

Ready, Set, Bank has made me aware of

how other people feel about banking.

The things that I see that make people weary

is fear of the unknown.

I say give it a try.

You know, don't be like the dinosaur.

You see what happened to them.

Call me a dinosaur? I say, you don't have to be one.

You know. [soft laugh]

How to Achieve Unshakable Confidence through Self Realisation - Duration: 14:15.

you

understanding true confidence in how to achieve it the Dalai Lama says that

nothing can ever be accomplished without confidence in yourself but which self

should you have confidence in your personality your abilities your

intelligence or is there something greater to put your trust and confidence

in there is plenty of information around about the law of attraction where you

can achieve all your dreams and desires through setting your intentions

attention and states of mind to attract what you want easily also modern

psychology can pep you up with solutions of a healthy ego that sets reasonable

goals or maybe you're a Tony Robbins fan so belief in yourself becomes almost

religious in the sheer power of single pointed motivation to obtain what you

want is all that is necessary I do not want to misrepresent any of these

systems of confidence because they all have their relative value and benefits

but they all contain the seeds of their own demise why because they all require

effort the maintenance of your vibration or the feeding of your healthy ego or

the sustaining of your enthusiasm Eastern philosophy upholds the idea that

nothing you build can last everything that is created will be destroyed and

nothing in this world will bring you any lasting satisfaction you can just keep

setting new goals and adjusting your attitude again and again but is there

another way another way to confidence maybe there's something more ultimate

like God Allah or Buddha that can be relied on with perfect confidence

there is a good case that people who have faith and confidence in these

things have a lasting happiness and peace that is more sustainable and

reliable than worldly egos or enthusiasm but I contend that most of this is based

on a healthy religious ego another type of ego which is just more beliefs a

construction of fake confidence built on the foundations of concepts and ideas

this is why in Zen there is a saying if you see Buddha in the street kill him

this popular Zen saying points to destroying any concept of something

outside of yourself that can be relied on what is true confidence we are told

we need confidence to succeed but is our understanding of it all wrong

so this brings me to what I would like to introduce you to that can be relied

on that can bring a fearless confidence in a way of being that is available to

everyone regardless of what country you are from what religious background you

have or how much money you earn this is the universal confidence of discovering

your own consciousness with all its miraculous qualities since I have just

somewhat criticized religions I would like to mention these teachings referred

to as the perennial philosophy are found sometimes hidden or secret within all

the major religious teachings of the world and discovering or uncovering this

hidden truth is the key to unshakable confidence in the goal of meditation

perennial philosophy in the true-self the perennial philosophy points to a

true self which when contacted heralds the dawning of a new identity a new

understanding of who you are in an unshakable confidence this is not an

arrogant type of confidence that believes it can achieve all goals or

have whatever it wants on the contrary it is a humble confidence that realizes

deeply the futility and vanity of reaching for fulfillment within the

temporary appearances of the world a humility built on a grandmother like

wisdom that knows the temporary and fleeting nature of things this is not

depressing instead it is liberating and deeply realizes the value of each sunset

each smile from another human being and the richness of every day each day is

seen as more precious than ever and should never be taken for granted

because it simply will not last it is a confidence in the already complete

eternal present moment the only place happiness and fulfillment can ever be

found the type of confidence I am alluding to ironically starts with a

giving up or surrendering this surrender is called renouncing worldly affairs

which is giving up the temporary and unreliable fluctuations of goal

achieving happiness for the lasting and greater happiness available from knowing

who you really are in the present moment humble confidence true confidence has

humility and realizes the temporary nature of all things so who are you the

first thing I can say is who you are not and very simply this means you are not

who you think you are thoughts are just ideas in your imagination they are not

real thoughts about who you are as a person are usually based on arbitrary

things like your job sexual orientation country of birth or particular talents

all these things are temporary conditions labeled by thought with no

lasting truth to them surrendering these thoughts of yourself is the first stage

of meditation when you are taught to just watch your breath and not take your

thoughts seriously let them come and let them go they are of no significance to

your real and lasting identity try it pause right now and contemplate who are

you in this moment if you do not believe your thoughts okay so this blog is going

a little bit longer than I hope so I will cut to the chase who are you really

spoiler alert you are an eternal unbounded consciousness that is the

primary and fundamental source of the universe that means from this

perspective our body's brains and everything else comes out of this

consciousness like a wave coming out of the ocean rather than the other way

around before you argue you must understand

that modern science including neuroscience has not yet explained their

theory that consciousness arises from the brain and nervous system it is still

a mystery to them and known as the hard problem of consciousness mystics and

contemplatives on the other hand have been telling us for millennia that our

true selves are an unbounded consciousness imbued with intuitive

intelligence unconditional love and immeasurable bliss and joy in Buddhism

it is called Buddha nature and it is taught that this nature is already

perfect enlightened and complete with positive qualities the goal of all

Buddhist schools is to realize this nature we are consciousness our body's

brains and everything else comes out of this consciousness a universal self self

realized beings have told us that worldly happiness pales in comparison to

the self realization of consciousness and the East's ideas of liberation and

enlightenment are founded on realizing this universal truth for yourself

unfortunately this realization is egos biggest disappointment it is not a

personal self but a universal self shared by every living being

you are not better than anyone else you are just a reflection of this divine

self within the conditions of the world the term namaste the divine light and me

recognizes the divine light in you is a great way to remember this when you meet

others this consciousness or open awareness I am pointing to his fearless

what Zen masters call indomitable which means it is not moved or swept away by

present circumstances it is indestructible like the sky and

contacting this inner space can bring tremendous courage and fortitude into

our lives the realization that the passing weather can never harm the sky

is just like how passing thoughts and emotions no matter how strong can never

harm your true inner sky life conscious self your true self or open awareness

does not come and go you do not create this awareness in meditation you cannot

make it better and you cannot harm it either it is at the heart of all

experiences it is here right now it is the open space that is allowing you to

read this blog it is the effortless ground of your being the unchanging

presence that has been with you all your life as Deepak Chopra explains

meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet it is a way of entering into

the quiet that is already there buried under the fifty thousand thoughts the

average person thinks every day thoughts and emotions are like passing weather

thoughts don't affect our true conscious selves just as the weather doesn't

affect the sky the unstable confidence Zen master bankais calls it the great

unborn because it does not arise newly or from causes it has always been there

it is what the Big Bang emerged from it has never been born in the normal sense

and therefore it can never die it is the only thing like it everything else will

be born and will die and cannot be relied on if you try and gain confidence

in anything else it will be unstable and unreliable another metaphor is your true

self is like the calm stillness in the center of a storm or tornado even when

chaos is swirling around us there is a calm Center a quiet place within that

always has a cheeky inner smile and knowing that this too shall pass

consciousness has a quality of watching and noticing without reacting or being

affected we could simply call this awareness being aware of things without

reacting is a doorway into this consciousness in a major style of

meditation as taught by many traditions as our show says

just keep on being more and more aware and you will be amazed at how your life

will transform there is so much philosophy to discuss about this

unbounded consciousness hopefully I have pointed toward it enough to give you a

glimpse just by reading my words but there is no substitute for the self

realization of contacting this naturally clear and unbounded consciousness

through meditation I would like to conclude with a meditation method for

discovering your true self this method points to and notices three qualities of

consciousness as the ultimate refuge for everyone the three qualities are

stillness silence and space this is a very simple and effective method to

contact this ever-present consciousness however there are many different paths

to self-discovery unbounded consciousness be relaxed in the now to

connect with your natural self your unbounded consciousness contacting

unbounded consciousness try this right now

one sit still to be quiet no matter what noises are around you be quiet

three allow thoughts the space to move through your mind without reacting to

them notice these three things being still being silent and being spacious

notice they are qualities that are already present within you they are you

contacting these three qualities allows you a refuge from fear and suffering at

all times even when you are moving making noise and thinking the underlying

fabric that allows these things to happen is inner stillness silence and

space this empowers an incredible self-confidence you don't have to do

anything or avoid anything to be confident simply find confidence in

being you sit still in silent and just be for a short while just be without

trying to change anything just sit just breathe

and just be your natural self you are already complete and fulfilled and this

can never be taken from you what is there to fear this is what can be relied

on being relaxed in the now with unshakable confidence in your natural

self unbounded consciousness

Capital One presents "My Future Self: Niaya" - Duration: 1:51.

- Okay, action.

[bright music]

- Dear Future Self, I'm writing to tell you

about this great program you're in: Year Up.

So far, Year Up has given you the tools you've needed

to hit the ground running.

All of the work you've put in thus far

has not been done in vain.

You started this program to give yourself a competitive edge,

and to use that edge to help others.

Now you're closer than you've ever been.

Year Up has had a hand in shaping who you are now.

What began as a journey for you to finish your education

quickly became a journey for you to help uplift others.

By now, you're managing projects

for the Year Up program at Capital One,

helping interns who are just like you:

a young professional,

anxious to make lemonade from lemons.

I can't wait to see who you've become.

Continue to lift as you climb.

Sincerely, Niaya.

During my time at Howard, I didn't get any financial aid.

So I made the decision--and it was hard--to leave school,

and to try to find that other way.

So when I first got into Year Up, I was taking

college classes outside of the program,

and then I was also taking my college classes

on the Year Up campus.

All of the college classes I was taking before that

were all communications-based,

and then once I kind of came to Year Up,

it completely introduced me to something

I wasn't used to, which was technology.

Learning to be able to, like,

get completely out of my comfort zone,

it really, like, empowered me and gave me

that confidence that, like, I could--I could do anything.

Year Up gave me that fair shot.

One of the big things that Year Up really helps with

is, like, the big picture.

So, how things don't stop with you,

how, like, very much, like, you affect

how the program gets run after you're gone.

And now, you know, I'm taking a little bit of

Year Up's kind of mission, which is to life as you climb.

I'm--I'm doing that, doing just that.

- Okay. [clears throat]

Dear Future Self,

When you began volunteering with Dress for Success,

you could not have imagined what a tremendous impact

this amazing organization would have on your life.

You see, after losing almost everything in a fire,

you had to start over.

And you became a client for Dress For Success.

You said to yourself, there's a place for you,

you have something to offer.

You're learning about technology,

interviews, financial literacy, and leadership.

Dress for Success helped you discover

what you're capable of

and helped to shape who you are.

I can't wait to see

who you've become through your journey.

See you soon.

Sincerely, Robin.

There was a 13-year period

when, um, I began losing family members.

During that time, I was raising my children

and trying to work,

and, um, was not taking care of myself.

And one day I looked up in the mirror,

uh, after my husband died, and I didn't like what I saw.

I didn't see me.

And one day when I was volunteering

here at Dress for Success, someone mentioned to me:

Why don't I become a client?

Dress for Success contacted me,

um, set up an appointment with me.

They suit you for clothing, jewelry.

You know, and they give you tips about how to interview,

how to dress, how to--

to move, you know, how to sit.

Everything to kind of give you confidence

and make you feel like, um,

that you had support.

Dress for Success has enabled me to be exposed to

current digital technology.

Becoming a client has shown me that

I can do anything that I put my mind to.

They help me to get me back.

I feel like me again.

I feel like Robin again.

Capital One presents "My Future Self: Xenia" - Duration: 1:59.

[gentle music]

- Dear Future Self, I am writing to tell you

about this great program you joined

when you were in 6th grade, Capital One Coders.

You wanted to do it because

technology was one of your favorite subjects,

and you were pretty good at it too.

So when you heard about it at the YMCA,

you asked for the form and brought it home right away.

On the first day of Coders, you felt excited,

curious, and a little nervous too.

But after a few days, you weren't nervous at all,

just curious and excited to learn.

Imagine you didn't do C1 Coders.

You wouldn't have all these digital skills.

By now I would bet you're on your way to a dream job,

because no matter what, with a background in coding,

you can be whoever you want to be.

I can't wait to see who you are now.

Sincerely, Xenia.

[upbeat music]

I heard about C1 Coders when I was in YMCA.

I made a lot of, like, little apps

and our app-- me and my partner made--

it's flying unicorns.

Technology moves very fast.

If you go without learning any technology,

it would be very hard to get a job.

So you have to make sure that you know

at least something about technology

to help you along in your future.

When I grow up, I want to be a veterinary technician.

I just like furry animals, like, little, cuddly, furry animals.

This stuff will probably help me because

we could keep track of the animal on computers.

So, like, we could see what progress they're making.

I feel more comfortable and more confident with technology,

because now I know a little bit more about it.

And now I know, like, technology can also be fun.

Self Discovery Exercise | Personal Inspirations Map 🌼 - Duration: 6:53.

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to Lavendaire.

Today I want to share a quick and easy self discovery exercise that you can use to learn more about yourself

and uncover the potential that you have within.

This is something that I did last night.

I was re-inspired to share this exercise again.

I shared another version of this exercise, but I'll talk about that later.

This version is focusing on the people that you admire and love and respect,

and analyzing why you love and respect them so much.

What do you admire about these idols that you have in your life?

It doesn't have to be a famous person.

It could be real people in your life.

Just jotting down the name and break down the characteristics and traits about why you

love this person so much.

You guys may know that recently I've been obsessed with watching Hyori's Bed and Breakfast on Netflix.

That's like my favorite show right now, and it's essentially about Kpop star Hyori

who opens up her big island home to guests, sort of like an Airbnb.

And she has a kitchen staff who's also another Kpop star named IU.

I'm still on season 1, so it's IU.

And I've just loved watching them for their personalities.

That show's really inspiring me creatively and as an artist, just to observe other artists,

listen to their conversations.

So I've been binging the show, but also watching their interviews just to get to know

more about Hyori and IU.

I just realize how much I love and respect them.

I see so much of myself in them.

The key with this exercise is: After you list out all the people you admire and break down

the traits of why you admire them,

it's time to look at what you wrote and realize that everything you wrote down is something

that you have within,

whether it's something that you're practicing now, something you value.

Or it's something that you have deep within that wants to be brought out more,

something that you want to live out in your real life.

It's pretty simple when you think about it, because when there's someone you admire,

you admire them for their qualities and traits and you admire those traits because those

are the traits of your ideal person.

You think ideal people should have those types of traits.

You wouldn't see it in them if you didn't have it in yourself.

So see this exercise as a way to find clues in ways to bring out more of your true self

and bring out more of your greatest potential,

because you have the potential to be all of these amazing things that you admire.

It really is within you.

So going back to my journaling session last night, why I love and admire Hyori, I love

her carefree spirit.

I feel like she's matured as an artist, to the point where she stopped caring as much

about material things and surface level stuff, and she is more soulful.

She does yoga.

She doesn't care what anyone thinks.

She's super confident.

She knows what she wants.

She's a very strong personality,

and yet she has a very joyful, fun, and funny side to her, all of which I really admire

and love.

And so it gives me a clue that I can bring out more of those sides of me.

I can definitely bring out more confidence and have more fun, and be more funny in life.

Just little things like this, everything that you admire.

It's kind of funny because the other girl on the show, IU, she's kind of opposite of Hyori,

and yet I really relate to her as well.

I love her because she's so sweet, she's kind.

She's genuinely a nice person.

And I like that she's super humble.

On the show, she's so humble, so regular, that I didn't realize how big of a star she was.

When you watch videos of her singing, she turns into another goddess.

And to me it's really cool when someone's really humble and yet has so much talent and

is a true artist, so I really respect that.

At the same time, I love that IU has a quirky sense of fashion.

There's this funny episode where IU and Hyori are shopping.

And IU is choosing all these ugly clothes, these weird patterns and baggy t-shirts, just

weird clothes that aren't typically cute for girls in Korea.

And Hyori's making fun of her for choosing those clothes.

But I just love that she's so strong in her sense of style, even though it's so different

from everyone else.

She's definitely original and she's not afraid to be herself and pick the stuff that she likes.

So now I encourage you all to try out this simple exercise.

Just analyze why you admire the people you admire,

and realize that you have those traits in yourself as well, and they're just asking

to be brought out even more.

I've also shared a similar version of this exercise before.

You can actually use this to apply to people that you envy.

I know a lot of us sometimes have social media envy, where you're seeing someone else's life

and you're admiring their photos and their lifestyle.

You can also do this with those people as well.

Jot down why you feel gravitated and attracted to these people, why you envy these people.

It's a way to turn a negative feeling into something positive for your own life.

Realize that whatever you're attracted to, it's because you have that same thing in you.

It's just being reflected off someone else.

(Very loud car.)

Another fun thing you could do is create a mind-map of your personal inspirations.

Put yourself at the center and then draw out in little nodules all the people who have

inspired you or influenced you in your life.

And from there, you can draw out the people who inspire them to kind of expand it.

I got this idea from something I did in the past called the "Creative Family Tree".

It was when I was kind of trying to discover myself as a songwriter.

I was creating a family tree of all the people who creatively inspire me in music, all the

songwriters and producers I want to sound like.

"I want to be a blend of this person and this person and this person."

It's just a fun, visual way to outline all your inspirations and see how you are a blend

of all of these different influences

and how you kind of fit in, in this big creative map.

So yeah, let me know if these exercises spark some inspiration in you.

I'd love to hear your answers as well.

So comment below with at least one person you're inspired by or someone you admire and love,

and then break down all the traits of why you admire and love that person so much.

And I will know that those are the traits that you have within yourself as well.

By the way, I also have this worksheet on journaling prompts for self discovery.

If you haven't downloaded it yet, I'll put the link in the description below,

as well as links to more videos and playlists related to these self discovery exercises.

Alright, have a beautiful day.

Love you so much.

Bye!

Morning Conversations with Jim Self and Roxane Burnett - Are you Bored? - Duration: 12:26.

Your feathers off. Ok. Ready? Clap. We're starting now.

Don't say clapping. You don't say anything. You be still for a couple

seconds. Ok wait a minute.

Jim I read this article this morning that got me thinking about that concept

that we always talk about kind of the segmenting of worlds. And it was a real

interesting story this guy who's 53 he'd been working for Nike up in Portland for

a while he was in some part of the digital side of it. And he decided at the

at the time of the American elections a year and a half ago

2016. He decided he was going to do something called the blockade. And he

completely cut he he completely cut himself off from all media. News,

newspapers everything and he moved to Ohio and started a pig farm. And so this

article was an example of somebody who really said that's enough I don't want

to have all this news, international or US news, in my life. And one of the things

he he discovered he said I'm experiencing an emotion that I haven't

felt in decades. And it was boredom yeah and he said and it doesn't bother me

yeah. So it got me thinking of that separation couple things that separation

we talked about and also the idea that boredom might possibly be the transition

between what I have to do and what I want to do. Yeah that's a good

observation. It just got me thinking. So this space we talk about often

about you're starting to shift, segmenting in the kind of two

Earths. One basically going in a direction different than the other. We

have this experience with a lot of the students in Mastering Alchemy so you

start to have the tools to begin to step away from my noise, my emotions, my

baggage that kind of a thing. And often is particularly about halfway through

the Level Three Year One people say gee I'm losing my goals, I'm losing my

interests I'm feeling a whole lot better about my state of being. But I'm bored

yeah and they'll use that word bored and every time I'll ask the question well

how is that for you? Virtually every time they say it's really pretty good -yeah

just like his dad -I kind of like it. So boredom in a way is not a problem

necessarily it is clearly different. It is a space where I'm not engaged with my

conscious or unconscious motion. Or maybe I'm not engaged with something I've

always done before. Yeah and a lot of that is just unconscious habit yeah. I I

do this, I go here, I expect the world to be this way or that way. And in that

process I start to begin to recognize that's noise. It's a positive

noise but it's noise, it's motion, it's leaning into things and very much it's

an unconscious movement through time. I remember I don't think I've ever

experienced boredom. There's always something I'm doing yeah.

But I remember as as as a kid and also parents nowadays the kids will come up

to the parents and say I'm bored tell me what to do yeah. Is that that seems like

a different kind of boredom. Well I think that is different too. Because a lot of a

lot of kids and younger people, and particularly I think some of these kids

that are Millennials, maybe in the 20 to 30 range one of the things that was very

prevalent in 80s 90s maybe into early 2000s is

parents wanted to make sure their kids had a great experience. So they took 'em

soccer, they took 'em tennis, they took 'em to gymnastics, they put him into dance. They

basically completely gave them a lot of things to do.

Filled up their life. Filled up their lives and now at 20-something years old

they're not having their lives filled up. They're on their own.

And when we talked to some of these kids they don't know what to do mm-hmm. They

don't know how to initiate on their own, activities. And so that may be kind of a

boredom too. But pretty much that's a disconnect from how do I engage. But I

think this particular part of boredom that we're talking about is is actually

really important. We can call it boredom for a label for the purpose of this. But

I am disconnecting from a lot of my unconscious and conscious habits. I'm

starting to notice myself in terms of how do I observe and then choose. And a

lot of people, like all ages haven't really chosen before. We move along, we do

what we're supposed to, we get our job we have our two point three kids, we live in

the house we mothers are -play the game- supposed to fathers are supposed to. So when you

start to watch this now, people disconnecting from the game, if you would.

The disconnect for a lot of people in Mastering Alchemy particularly a lot

of people who are beginning to become conscious of being conscious. They're

starting to be aware also of some other set of choices. So a lot of times those

choices are I want something different there's a better or a different way of

doing this. But that better different way is not how they have had their

experience today. And in that boredom period of time is the time where we've

let go of our old reference points but we haven't found our new reference

points. Yeah so it's that period of time where we're kind of empty or

-and that's a good word for it too we've heard that expressed. So empty I don't know

what to do I I don't know where to go I know what I wanna feel and so. And I know what

doesn't work for me -and I know what doesn't work for me.

But I don't have a place to go. You know I I find myself sometimes saying in my

reality I I want to have an experience that says do do do do accomplish. And I

built the house, I built the shed, I did something. And in my reality even though

with tremendous satisfaction and all the work that's being done and watching

people shift. Sometimes there's a space where it's like I don't I don't know

that I accomplished. I feel disconnected from my sense of either doing or

accomplishing. Now that's not a problem and I- well it's different than boredom too- well I but I've

been in that space of boredom and we're talking about. And what I watched as I

went into that is I'm in transition. I'm not doing the same things that I used to

do. And I think that's this segmentation beginning to formulate, beginning to come

into a place. And when you talk to, again let's use a Mastering Alchemy group, if

you say well what do you want. A lot of times they say I don't know but in in in

the case because this is part of our scripting is well let's define it as

well-being. Would that be something you want? And people go oh yeah. And it feels

like this and words like integrity and enjoyment and appreciation and ease. You

know they run out all those words and everybody goes yeah that's what I want.

But if you listen to the words ease, respect, appreciation there's not a doing

right attached. There's not a I went to the store, had coffee,

I watched the football game, I had an experience. There's a shift between

emotions into feelings. And feelings in this case are lighter and

have less attachment to them less drama to them in some cases. And I think

that's what people are defining is boredom. Particularly this guy he

basically said I'm going to not deal with news and noise. And he did an

interesting thing where he had to tell all his friends don't talk to me about

this. He goes to his coffee shop every day, he has this same coffee, he puts in

his earbuds and he's blocking out all the chatter in the coffee shop. So it's

really he's really orchestrated a life. Yeah yeah and he's not in reactionary

avoidance. He's choosing to not be connected to that. So that's a real

different place than I'm pushing yeah against. I think this place of boredom too is if

when we find ourselves in it if we can not push against it and just say well

this is an in-between place. I'm moving toward something bigger, better,

satisfying, all those good words. Rather than having that experience and being

errrr what's wrong with me. Yeah and I think a question you start to ask is

what would I like. Now and expect no answer. That's I think a really

important. Expect no answer there's no oh I want to do this. Because that's part of

the how the scripting has been. So what would you like to feel? How would you

like to feel? And where do you experience that feeling? And so in a way it's nature

comes up for a lot of people. I'd like to go for more walks, I'd like to go for

a hike, I'd like to do. What and there are people many people all the world that

are stepping into this exact space. So what would the World look like if you

had engagement in well-being? And how would you live in your own house? What

would your house look like? As simple as could you rearrange the furniture to

create a different feeling in the house. Clean your garage you know or do

something that creates maybe a sense of accomplishment in orderliness. Because

orderliness is one of those words that really comes into this place of I'm

aligned I'm present here I am . So there is a shift so if you

hit that space of boredom it's not a problem it's a transitional phase into

something that I would like to accomplish. But as you said the reference

points aren't fully in place yet and I don't know what this feels right like I don't

know how it's not tangible. It's like wanting a food and you keep and I can't

find that but I know it exists. Yeah so but yeah this is a this is an important

step I think in terms of watching this Shifting unfold. And the Shifting is

accelerating so they're getting disconnected from things is accelerating

consciously or unconsciously and the new reference points are starting to show up.

So enjoy that period of boredom boredom instead of pushing against it and know

it's it'll pass. Yeah and it will step in to evolve into

something else yeah and it's not a problem. Not a problem. So something worth noting. Yeah good. Good.

Confidence Hacks: 7 Ways to Instantly Boost Your Self-Esteem - Duration: 11:57.

[Music]

Okay, I know what you're thinking.

Confident hacks, really? Look, the word "hacks"

has been so overused lately that it's

practically meaningless. The problem is

that people think that hacks are things

that are gonna give them instant results

without them having to do any work at

all. These confidence hacks are different

because they do require some effort on your

part. But each one is a highly targeted

action that you can take to get an

almost immediate boost to your mood and

your self-esteem. Without any further ado,

here are seven ways you can legitimately

increase your confidence when you need

it most. Real quick, I want to give a big

thanks to Scentbird for sponsoring this

video and for supporting the channel.

Number one, get out of your head and into

your body. So one of the biggest enemies

of confidence on a daily basis is your

own mind--yes your own mind. So some

people speculate that the human mind has

up to 70 thousand thoughts per day. And

because humans have evolved to be on

constant alert for danger and threats to

their survival, many of those thoughts

are negative. The constant "what if?" What

if I'm not good enough? What if I fail?

Sometimes we get so caught up in our

negative thoughts that we go down a

rabbit hole. And if you've ever been

stuck in a negative headspace, you know

that trying to think your way out of

that is nearly impossible. And that's why

the quickest way to actually change your

mood and your confidence is actually by

changing your physiology--by moving your

body. Not only does exercise distract you

from your negative thoughts, but it's

actually been proven to physiologically

increase your sense of well-being by

providing feel-good endorphins that help

reduce anxiety and boost your confidence.

Even if you can't exercise, deliberately

adjusting your posture can have an

almost immediate impact on your mood.

According to Harvard professor Amy Cuddy,

just doing two minutes of these simple

"power poses" like standing with your

hands on your hips is enough to decrease

cortisol (a stress hormone) and an

increased testosterone. And the

combination of that can make you feel

more relaxed and more confident. Number

two, harness the power of scent. Now, scent

has a very powerful effect on us. Have

you ever noticed how a single smell can

transport you back to a very specific

memory in a way that no other sense can

really?

And it shouldn't be a surprise that

smelling better can increase our sense

of feeling more put-together and

well-groomed. But a 2009 study actually

showed that wearing fragrances can

increase how confident we appear to

other people. During the double-blind

study, women were asked to watch

videotapes of men who were either

wearing cologne or not wearing cologne.

And surprisingly, the women were more

attracted to the men who were wearing

cologne, even though they couldn't smell

them. So in a nutshell, when you smell

good, you feel more confident, so you act

more confident. And people notice. And

that's why wearing cologne can often be

that x-factor in our grooming routine

that can take us from having a ho-hum

day to feeling like we're on top of the

world. I haven't worn a lot of cologne in

the past and so I'm just starting to

kind of dip my toe into the world of

fragrance. And about a year and a half

ago, I discovered a company called Scentbird,

which is essentially a subscription

service for fragrances. And there's a lot

of things that are great about this for

people who either don't wear a lot of

cologne regularly or who are just kind of

starting out with fragrance. First, the

fragrances come in a small spray size, so

you're not stuck with a big bottle of

something that you absolutely hate, and

that kind of allows you to "date"

different fragrances without having to

commit to one so soon. Secondly, the

experience of shopping for a fragrance

with Scentbird is much more comfortable,

especially if you're like me and you

don't like the department store

perfume counter atmosphere, with bright

lights and the cacophony of smells. I

mean, sometimes it's really hard to

actually know what you're smelling when

you're there. It's totally overwhelming.

So Scentbird partners with designer

brands--everything from like Tom Ford to

Gucci to Prada to Guerlain. And so their

selection is pretty broad, and they

actually have something like 450

different fragrances that you can choose

from on the website. For $14.95 a month

they don't just send you a tiny sample,

they actually send you a full of

rollerball size that lasts 30 days, and

would normally probably cost you twice

what this is for that same size. In the

past, I was almost afraid to wear cologne

because I was worried about maybe

putting on too much, but as I've gotten

more experience with it I have a better

sense of how much to use. And it's nice

because it really is that kind of final

little zhuzh to your grooming routine,

and you get that sort of crisp feeling

of confidence that you get when you

walk out of the barber with a nice

clean

haircut. If you're interested in checking

out Scentbird, they've given us an offer

code that you can use. Just enter offer

code TDM25 and you can actually get 25%

off your first cologne or perfume. So

I'll go ahead and leave that code in the

video description as well. Number 3, do a

small act of kindness for someone else.

So another great way to boost your

confidence is to just stop thinking

about yourself and your own problems for

just a second and focus on someone else

for a change.

We get so caught up in our own drama and

baggage that sometimes we forget a very

simple truth: we have the ability to make

other people happy.

You'd be surprised, but knowing that

you've actually brightened someone's day

can often help neutralize all the

petty concerns that you've had about

your your own day. And guess what?

Helping other people actually has a

physiological effect that can boost your

mood as well. In the book The Healing

Power of Doing Good, Allan Luks and Peggy

Payne talk about how helping others can

actually trigger what they call a

"helpers high." Similar to the runner's high

that athletes experience, helping other

people can trigger a release of

endorphins, and then after that initial

rush you experience a longer period of

calm and emotional well-being. Go out and

do something nice for a stranger. I mean

you can go so far as volunteering at a

local shelter for half a day. And I've got

to say that nothing puts your

petty concerns in perspective like being

around a bunch of people who don't have

regular access to a warm meal or a

warm bed. But it could also be as simple

as just paying for a stranger's coffee

in line at Starbucks. You're going to be

surprised at how good you feel

afterwards. Number four, take a calculated

risk. Another thing that can skyrocket

your confidence almost instantaneously

is stepping outside of your comfort zone.

We spent so much of our lives living in

such a confined sphere: work, home,

friends, family. And in that familiar

environment, all of our self criticisms

and problems seem much bigger and much

more difficult to solve. But we forget

how invigorating can be to get a

different perspective. Challenge

ourselves. To take a risk. And I'm not

talking about doing anything physically

dangerous. I mean, there's plenty of

social risks that could be just as scary.

Single? Grow a pair and finally approach

that girl you've been meaning to talk to. Ask

your boss for a raise.

Try a new haircut. Take a class and learn

a new skill. Attend a conference or plan

a trip to a place where you don't know

anyone

else. So many of these things initially

seem like risks but then once you

actually work up the courage to take the

leap, a huge weight is lifted off your

shoulders. And you think to yourself, "I

was afraid to do this?" The best thing, is

even if you don't reach your intended

target the first time, even if you fail,

you still feel better about yourself

because you had the cojones to put

yourself out there and try. And after a

while, this sensation of

wanting to look fear in the face and go

for it really becomes addictive, because

you feel this positive momentum in your

life and it really gives you a lot of

confidence. Number five, reconnect with

play. So another thing that sometimes

zaps our confidence is this constant

drive to achieve more. Technology has

made it so that we're always on when it

comes to work, and the the rat race is

more of a grind than ever.

We feel like we have to constantly push

ourselves to work harder, to achieve more,

but it's never quite enough. So maybe

sometimes the solution isn't working

harder, it's allowing ourselves to

rediscover play. As Charlie Hoehn writes

in Play it Away, sometimes the simple

joy of reconnecting with play can do

wonders for our confidence and our

stress level. No longer are we beating

ourselves up for not pushing and

achieving more, we're just simply

allowing ourselves to be. Rather than

trying to be productive, for once maybe

you should just let yourself enjoy

playing a game, doing a puzzle, shooting

hoops, playing catch, being a kid again.

Charlie says "play is a state where we

are truly ourselves once we let go of

our egos and fear of looking stupid."

Ironically, allowing yourself periods of

play can actually increase your

productivity. So that release that comes

with letting go of that stress for only a

few hours perhaps, can help improve your

focus, improve your creativity, improve

your confidence and your satisfaction

with work and the life in general.

Number six, talk to yourself. Now, whether

you realize it or not, you already talk

to yourself all the time. The thing

that we sometimes forget is that

we have the power to decide whether

that's positive or negative. Think

positive self-talk is too woo-woo for you? You

know who else gets motivated by talking

to themselves? Navy SEALs. Oh yeah, and

Olympic athletes. Even with their elite

training and extreme levels of physical

fitness,

Navy SEALs and Olympic athletes have

realized that psyching themselves up

mentally and squashing negative

self-talk is key for achieving peak

performance. But it turns out there's a

right way and a wrong way to talk to

yourself.

Personal development guru Gary John

Bishop believes that positive

affirmations don't work because we're

trying to convince ourselves of

something that we fundamentally don't

believe. "I'm a killer on the dance floor.

Ladies can't resist my super sexy moves!"

That's a great aspiration, but when

you're trying to tell yourself that

you've attained something that you

actually haven't, that becomes a

disconnect in your mind. So rather than

use positive affirmations, Bishop

recommends using positive assertions. The

difference is that assertions are things

that you can legitimately summon on your

own. And one of the big assertions that

Bishop mentions is the phrase "I am

willing." "I am willing to put in the work

to be a good dancer. And I'm willing to

get out there on the dance floor make a

fool of myself to impress the ladies."

Assertions work because they don't

conflict with reality. You can make them

true. And no one can take that away from

you. Number seven, create an "awesome log."

Now, a final way to boost your confidence

is just to remind yourself of past

successes. Now, we all have little wins, I

mean almost every day. The problem is

that we forget about them. So at best we

allow ourselves a few moments to kind of

like bask in the afterglow. But then

very quickly we're on to the next stress

or next challenge. It helps to sit down

and try to think of all the times when

you've had little wins and when things

have gone well, etc. But it also helps to

have a system to capture those things

going forward. And that's why you should

create an "awesome log" and use it to

keep track of things like little

personal wins, great compliments that

you've received, small victories at work,

meaningful conversations you don't want

to forget, things that made you proud. So,

you could go analog with this, and simply

just record this stuff in a notebook, or

you could use an app like Evernote. Or

you could have a little bit of fun with

that make it a little more interactive

by putting post-it notes in a mason jar.

And that way you can sort of watch your

awesome log grow right before your eyes.

If you're having trouble thinking of

past victories, ask for help. Ask your

friends or ask your co-workers. You know,

a lot of times they'll be able to

remember positive experiences that you've

had that maybe you've forgotten about. By

capturing those thoughts going forward

you can refer

back to your awesome log whenever you

need a little pick-me-up, and you need to

remember that, "oh yeah, that's right: I am

awesome! And here are a few reasons why..."

Alright, gentlemen. I hope you enjoyed

YIKERS: Maxine Waters Stabs Her Own Self In The Back With Latest Rant

Back in the day, Maxine Waters SLAMS Republicans when she DEFENDS Bill Clinton's Impeachment!

I bet Maxine wishes she had term limits, after this blast from the past!

At the time, Maxine said the impeachment of Clinton is despicable!

She said, "I am greatly disappointed in the raw, unmasked, unbridled hatred, and meanness

that drives this impeachment coup d'etat."

Hypocrisy at it's most FINE!

This is truly hilarious!

You can't make this stuff up!

Waters said at the time.

"My Republican friends, what you do here today will long be remembered and recorded

in history as one of the most despicable actions ever taken by the Congress of the United States

of America."

After Ari had her listen to her former self on the impeachment of Clinton, Maxine self

inflicted a wound!

She tried to make it like the Democrats were the responsible party then and responsible

now!

She can't really be this mindless, can she?

Maxine responded after hearing herself say impeachment is despicable!

She said, "I just want to tell you that the Democrats have been very very responsible

and even saying to me that I should not be calling for impeachment."She said, "They

have not taken a position as a Democratic caucus on this impeachment and they've said

to me that, 'let's just talk about our issues, let's not talk about him.'"

Apparently, Maxine is distancing herself away from the Democrat Party.

Much like the DNC has distanced away from Hillary Clinton and Senator Dianne Feinstein

(CA-D).

Maxine continued stabbing herself in the back!

She railed on!

"So Democrats have been terribly responsible, and again, I'm one of just a few who have

insisted that he's unworthy, that he's deplorable, that he's despicable, and he

should be impeached.""Rep. Waters from 1998 claiming that Republicans were seeking

to impeach then-president Bill Clinton over political disagreements."

– the Daily Caller. It's sheepishly hilarious!

Specifically, if you really feel like a belly laugh, watch as Maxine calls for the Impeachment

of 45!In ending, drop a comment below!

Let us know exactly how hypocritical you believe Waters is and if she has a snowballs chance

for re-election!

KPN iTV - Self-organization day Chapters (~200 ppl) - Duration: 2:25.

‣ What are we going to do today?

‣ Today is the Tribe self-selection day of KPN TV!

[uplifting music]

‣ We're going to let the Chapters form by the people themselves.

[uplifting music]

Around a year ago we started with our agile transformation

and now we're taking the next step by starting with the organisation of Chapters.

‣ This agile transformation we've chosen to be inspired by the Spotify Engineering Culture.

That means we have one Tribe with multiple Squads; teams who deliver the results.

Everyone in a Squad is also part of a craftsmanship team; a Chapter.

‣ We have chosen for a day where we'll empower self-selection,

where the people will organise themselves in teams for developing their craftsmanship.

‣ The self-selection kind of ran by itself...

we were running ahead in the [Chapter] family I was facilitating.

The Chapter Coach was chosen as soon as the Chapter was formed.

This was super epic, man!

‣ The day is split up into multiple rounds. The first round is for informing,

where the leadership team gives insight on which Chapters there are.

‣ What we're hoping to do is let people decide for themselves where the best place is to grow and learn

and being concerned with awesome topics which energises them and enables intrinsic motivation.

So that will automatically pay itself off on the delivery side of the organisation; the Squads.

‣ Co-creation with the people, so asking for input on how they view Chapters,

what are you hoping they'll become, and really engaging the conversation about that.

‣ Everyone had quite a clear idea on what they wanted to be part of, so that's really neat!

‣ It is really transcending the Squads and everyone has the same goal of becoming even better at our craft.

‣ I'll have to be honest that the Chapters are better and more clear than I anticipated.

In particular because of the energy and passion I see

in the people within the Chapters, they made a conscious choice.

‣ Self-selection is just; Do it! Have faith in your people. Prepare it well, but really let go.

People are super intelligent. They know what they're capable of and what they want.

Seriously, trust in the people. They know best.

Capital One presents "My Future Self: Rocio" - Duration: 1:51.

[gentle music]

- Dear Future Self,

I'm writing to thank you for participating

in the Per Scholas program.

Congrats. You've just graduated.

Do you remember what it felt like to be a student?

I'll remind you.

It was intense, and you were stressed.

But I'm sure you're looking back on it fondly and with gratitude.

This was the best decision that you could have made

that preceded many more great decisions

that opened doors for you.

On the first day, you were nervous and excited,

and let's be honest, a little lost.

But look at you now.

You learned all about troubleshooting printers,

virtualization, all kinds of digital skills.

Remember how much you struggled with ports?

But you were persistent,

and you never let the fear of failure get in your way.

By now you are CompTIA Net+ and Security+ certified,

and I can't wait to see who you've become.

I know I'll be proud of you.

See you soon.

Sincerely, Rocio.

[upbeat music]

I'm originally from Mexico,

but I've lived in Irving for the longest time.

I thought this would be-- Per Scholas would be

a good way to get, you know, the foundation

and to get your foot in the door into the IT world.

I originally thought it was too good to be true,

'cause Per Scholas is non-profit and it's, like, a free course.

They've definitely helped me

not only gain skill and confidence,

but also how to apply it.

And that really helped me, you know, build my résumé

and my interviewing skills.

The feeling of learning

so much material in such short amount of time

was surprising.

And I feel very grateful that I found Per Scholas

because the things that they've helped me with

have, like, opened so many doors.

Chrissy Metz Talks Abuse, Self-Love and Forgiveness in New Memoir - Duration: 2:47.

Chrissy Metz Talks Abuse, Self-Love and Forgiveness in New Memoir

This is Chrissy Metz. The This Is Us star caught up with E! News while on her book tour for her new memoir, aptly titled This Is Me.

During the conversation, the star talked about what it has been like opening up about her childhood abuse, learning to love herself and forgive the ones who hurt her, namely stepfather Trigger whom she claims hit her and was critical of her weight when she was younger.

But during the chat, Metz, who plays Kate Pearson on the hit show, said that in addition to her stepfather, theres one important person that she found that she had to forgive: herself.

When asked what it feels like being so open about her struggles and her past, Metz says its very scary to reveal the truth.

I think any time we have to verbalize the truth and or rehash it and be that vulnerable about what happened and then wonder what the reaction is going to be is very scary. The NBC star says the recent media attention surrounding the book has been uncomfortable at times, but adds, I have to get used to being comfortable with being uncomfortable..

The 37-year-old actress also talked to E! News about what her relationship with her body is currently.

The candid performer said, I definitely have great days and I have days that are I am like, Oh! Womp, womp but I think thats when I get in my own head and I get in my own way. I try to set myself up for success, so I will eat things that will make me feel good and I will get enough rest and not get in my own head so that I wont start self-sabotaging, adds the actress.

I am not perfect and I am not screaming that from the mountain tops at all, said the star. Its more about being work in progress and being gentle and kind with yourself..

Another topic of conversation was one of the books main themes—forgiveness, which Metz says is really hard. When asked about forgiving her stepfather, who has denied the claims of physical and verbal abuse, Metz says, I dont think he is necessarily denying it.

I think its really difficult to accept responsibility for your actions. Metz says she has learned to forgive her stepfather, whom she says was there for her more than her biological father, and that she told the story in her book not to cause a media circus, but to let people know that even the most fractured of relationships can be mended.

She adds, I hope that when he does read, should he be open enough to read it, that he will understand that [the book] wasnt about throwing him under the bus, but just showing people that there is room for forgiveness. Hopefully her book will cause others to heal their wounds, however great or small.

This Is Me: Loving the Person You Are Today hit bookstores on March 27. Dont miss E! News every weekday at 7 and 11 p.

Getting Started with FME Server 2018: Create Self Serve Access to Data (Part 3 of 4) - Duration: 5:14.

In the previous video in this series, we learned how to publish a workspace to FME Server and

run it from the web user interface. In this video, we'll modify that workspace so it

allows for"self-serve" data access. To accomplish this, we'll perform the following:

create published parameters in FME Workbench; publish the workspace to FME Server; and run

the workspace from the web user interface.

The workspace we have is pretty straight-forward, taking data from a file geodatabase and writing

it to the Generic format. The Generic Writer is very flexible, and allows for the user

to decide which format to write to when the workspace runs.

Here we have set the default format to Esri Shapefile. What we really want is for the

user to select the format of their choice, from a small list, at run time. This is accomplished

with published parameters.

Parameters in FME control how FME operates. They exist in many places, such as readers,

writers, and transformers. Take a closer look at one of the parameters for the Generic Writer:

Output Format.

Double-clicking on this parameter shows that it's been set up so the user can select

from any format in the formats gallery. But that's not what we want. The goal is to

present the user with a list of 4 common formats.

We'll need to create a new user parameter, and define it accordingly.

Right-click on the Published Parameters node and select Create User Parameter. For Type,

select Choice with Alias. For Name, enter Output_Format. For Prompt, enter Output Format:.

Click the button next to Configuration. We're going to Import the formats we want. Click

on Import, then Writer Formats. Search and select Esri Shapefile, MapInfo TAB, GML, and

Microstation Design V8. Click OK, and OK again.

Select Esri Shapefile for the default value. Note that Published is checked by default

- when a user parameter is published, a user is prompted for a value when the workspace

runs. Click OK. All published parameters have a purple cogwheel.

Our new Output_Format parameter appears under Published Parameters, but we still have to

link it to the Generic Writer's Output Format parameter. Locate the Output Format parameter

of the Generic Writer, right-click on Output Format, select Link to User Parameter, then

select the new Output Format parameter we just created. Notice how the cogwheel icon

turned purple.

One more thing….We'll set up the workspace so the user gets to choose which layers they

want to request! It's actually quite simple. Expand the Reader|Parameters|Features to Read.

This parameter let's the user decide which feature types to process when the workspace

is run. Right-click on Feature Types to Read and select Create User Parameter. We'll

go with the defaults for the definition, so click OK. Confirm the new parameter appears

under Published Parameters.

Run the workspace again. Notice that there are two published parameters to select from:

you can pick the output format and choose the feature types to read. OK, let's cancel

this and get the workspace up on FME Server.

Go to File|Publish to FME Server. Connect to your FME Server. If you have not already

created a web connection to your FME Server, please see the previous video. In the next

dialogue select the Server Tutorial repository (if you have just done part 2 it should already

be filled in). Call the workspace CommunityMapping.fmw (the existing one will be overwritten). Click

Next. Register the workspace with the Data Download Service (you can leave the Job Submitter

checked). Click Publish and confirm in the log that the workspace was published successfully.

Now open the FME Server web user interface. Log in with the author/author username/password.

Click Run Workspace. On the Run Workspace page, select Server Tutorial for the repository

and the CommunityMapping workspace. Select Data Download for the Service.

Now check out the Published Parameters and you see the 2 we set up and just tested in

Workbench. Just as before, select an output format, select one or more layers, then click

Run.

The Data Download service presents a URL link to the translation results in a zip file.

A quick inspection of the contents of the zip file confirms the results are what we

expected.
