Auto news on Youtube Feb 2 2018

Hey guys. This is not comfortable.

Almost dropped my tea

Welcome to day two in Hakone

I left super early this morning. So early in fact that absolutely nothing is open yet

So now I'm in Gora

I took a little train through the mountains, it was really cute

Really nice

I'm going to go see if the park is open this morning

I'm climbing up this hill

And I haven't had breakfast yet

So if I'm out of breath and I faint, you know why

Hopefully this is the right way also

So I left the hostel around 7:30

Ish

Walked to the station

Took a little train through the mountains, it was really cute

Terminal is Gora

Where you can transfer for the cable way

But I'm going to see if I can find the park

I just bought myself some hot tea. Just love that you can get hot beverages

Jeez

I'm dying

How is this so steep?

Anyway going to see if the park is open, long story short

I do need to get back to Tokyo

Not too late today as I've mentioned which is why I'm trying to get an early start

Let me show you this hill because

Jeez

It doesn't seem like much

But it's pretty steep

This is Gora Gardens

Opens...

Hm , I hope it's at 9

We'll see

Because there it says at 10

But on the big board it says 9

And they just opened the grate. The grate?

The grid?

The gate. Oh my God

So I just had a quick breakfast and now I'm going to see if I can enter with my Free Pass

Of course I start filming next to a waterfall so you can't hear me

This is a little tropical flora area

In a little greenhouse

It's really cute

I'm most amazed by these gigantic leaves

These things

Look at the size of these

Woah

What are those?

Ah you can't even see them properly

Hang on, let me see if I can show you

Right there between the leaves

What are those?

So pretty

And sunny

And warm

Let's get away

Look at this little square

It's cute

I'm in another country with a little terrace

And a little fountain

Little cafes

And then the view. Which is disappearing but you'll see when I climb back up there

There are so many different ways as usual

And it makes me scared that I'm going to miss something

Ok there we go

There we go

I'm so happy that I get to see some of the red leaves

Before I go. They're just starting to change

Look at that view baby

What's cool about this garden is that even though it's autumn getting close to winter

You still get some nice things to see, nice plants

Not in full bloom

I expect that this place must look absolutely gorgeous in spring and in summer

But the red leaves on the mountain are really pretty

Now it's time for the transfer from the cable car to the rope way

And since it's above I think a volcano or there's volcanic activity

They give you a mask to protect yourself

And it's going to smell of sulfur, I can already smell it now

And sometimes they suspend it if it gets too much

Luckily I only have to go one way because I'm doing the loop and then I'm going to the lake

So looks like I'm going to be lucky

Going to wear my little mask

It feels humid, maybe it's a humid thing

We'll see

Very excited

Ok! I know I start everything with a 'ok' or a 'so'

But ok, so

Here I am at Owakudani, hope I'm saying that right

And here is a frigging volcano (volcanic valley)

Right there, right behind me

And the thing to do here is to eat an egg that has been hard boiled

Over here. It's a black egg

So after this I'm going to check that out

But first I want to see and soak up this view

The crowd has come

Good thing I'm already half way through the activities I think

As I've mentioned, the thing to do here is to get some black eggs

They're sold by five so I'm going to have to eat five eggs by myself throughout the day

It'll probably be my meal

Here they are, nice and warm

And I'm going to try and eat these in front of the camera even though, well you see the crowds here

It's going to be a little difficult to peel the eggs and everything but I'm still going to show you

This is a black egg

And they're hot right now

Gonna peel this one and have a taste

See you in a minute

Here goes guys

It tastes actually quite nice

I can't tell if it's that different but it has a nice flavour to it

It's just a real nice black hard boiled egg

This will be my meal throughout the day I think

I'm going to see if there are other typical

Odawa..kuni? Dani? (Owakudani) Damn it I can't remember the name

Souvenirs back in there but my priority was to get these eggs

You know what I really like?

Those seats

They're so cute!

Everybody here is enjoying their egg

I'm going to see what's over there

Cuz I'm a little curious

Just going to say hello to Hello Kitty again

So I guess you can't really hike up there anymore. I don't know if it's recent

But I know that the volcanic activity has been

Higher?

Jeez I can't find the word

For a months or even a few years now so it might have been closed for a long time

It would have been fun regardless but never mind

I don't know what I'll do now. Maybe I'll go the the lake already?

We shall see

Maybe have another egg?

There's a bunch of food over there but it's not translated into English

So even though it looks really yummy I don't have a clue what it is

I don't know guys

Maybe I can translate?

I've had that one before. I don't want sausage

Bacon

Coffee and milk?

Maybe, I've been craving coffee

Maybe that one. Number 13 looks good but how much is it?

I just had a coffee

I'm not supposed to have any coffee but I was really craving one today

And now I'm about to have

These

Which are roasted onigiri

Onigiri again. I know, I'm crazy for these things

And.. what was I saying?

Roasted onigiri in soy sauce

And I came in here because it's nice and warm. It's getting kind of cold up here!

And after that I'll move on

Let's try this one

It's really good

Simple, hot rice, soy sauce

Slightly grilled I think

Good, quite good. I'm enjoying that

See you in a minute

Kurotama Neko (Nyanko)

So cute

I'm back on the rope way

Queuing for the rope way to go to Lake Ashinoko

It says right there but I had to look for it

Still can't remember any of the names

Been here too long, too many names

And after the lake, I think there's a shrine, a cedar walk and then I think it's back to the station

I think there's a cruise across the lake or around the lake depending on the weather

And then you can see another floating gate and then there's a shrine as I've mentioned

Let's stop talking and I'm going to show you but since I was here waiting I thought I'd keep you up to date

With every body watching me

Vlog

Got a white one this time!

Can you even say 'I'm on a boat' anymore?

Without.. you know what I mean

Anyway, I am on a boat. A big pirate ship looking thing

And yeah everyone is boarding

I expect that a ton more people are about t o get on here

Look at those people on the little boats

I want to do that

That's so much more fun

You know how I was saying -well even complaining a little yesterday

That I was really tired and that I wished that I had an extra day in Tokyo instead of coming to Hakone

I put my foot in my mouth for that one

I take it back completely

The volcano, the cruise

The rope way, the onsen... definitely all worth it

Even though it does put me in a bit of a rush to get back to Tokyo and everything

But definitely worth it. I'm going to stay here

So I can save my spot while we cruise out on the open Ashinoko Lake

Over there you have the floating gate. Gonna try and zoom in for ya

Over there. Before the ship goes right in front of it

There it is

This is my last destination before I go back to Tokyo

This is all twisted

Here behind me you have the lake again

With the floating gate which I have just shown you

And I'm going to head to the Hakone Shrine

This is going to be my last stop then I'm going to take

Probably the bus I think. I don't know which way is the best way

The bus back to the station

And then a train back to Tokyo

This is where I've just been

All the way up there

You can see the cable car

Right there

The ship over there is the cruise I've just been on

And I'm completing the circle

By going to the shrine which is I think over there

That big gate there is probably the entrance to the shrine

Yeah that will have been my stay

It's a good thing I started early

This morning started with the park

It's a nice loop. I think it's the classic loop that I did so

I'm going to stop here because I like the view and I want to get a few photos in

And then from where I arrived I took the bus for one, no a few stops to

The place I'm going to insert here. It sounds like Moto something

So I'm giving myself a clue while editing (thanks)

It's Moto something something

Yeah

Hope you find it

And here we have the floating gate I want to take a photo of now

I like this view

The view is real nice

It's pretty, it's a nice day, I'm very happy

Last day here in Japan

I'm actually really sad

Of course Hakone is a place where you can do so many more things

You can have the real Ryokan experience which I hope to do one day

You can have more of the onsen experience except if you have tattoos

You have to research places, it's kind of complicated. I was lucky to find the place

I went to yesterday

Or you can go to K's House, they have an onsen. I haven't checked it out though so I don't know what it's worth

But the one I went to yesterday was really cool

Anyway guys, I hope you enjoyed this trip to Japan

I loved it, seriously I don't want to leave

I really don't want to leave at all

Yeah this is definitely the way to the shrine

I'll chat with you guys later

Until then, let's enjoy this last attraction, last spot here

Oh my God

Let's enjoy it

Where am I going to set you up?

Let's start with a view from the lake and then we'll climb up there

I just did a really good gratitude prayer

And then yeah this was my last spot

I guess I'm done here

I'm done

I don't know if this is it for the vlog itself

I might have a few more pieces of footage if I come across anything interesting

Or if I want to vlog anything else back in Tokyo

But for now, just in case

Thanks for watching and, you know, I l-word you all

Can't wait for you guys to see this, can't wait to get all these videos up for you

And relive my experience to Japan

Thanks for watching

And see you guys soon!

This is not the end of my Youtube channel by the way

At all

This is just for now

Bye for now, see you back in Belgium

For new adventures!

This little pathway is really cool. Maybe I'll go back that way

Yeah I don't know what to say

Almost missed it guys!

Yeah I'm back again

Almost missed this little path

Down to the floating gate

Let's not die. Almost did

This is really cool!

Let's perch ourselves up here

And queue up

For this little wonder here

I'm between the gates

I queued and now everybody is looking at me doing this

But totally worth the view

Out here in the water

So this is officially my last spot now

I think. Not sure

Say bye to Japan now

Going back home

I'm glad to say that I just vlogged that last clip

In front of everyone

And I would've never done that before this trip, I would've never done that back in Belgium

Back in Brussels

And now

I'm in a foreign country

With tons of people staring at me doing this

And I can do it

I'm fine with it

And that's amazing

Hey from Narita airport guys

Woah my voice

I have spoken today though

Anyway I made it to the airport

I took a bus this time. I don't know why I didn't take the bus the first time

I just followed the standard route and took the Narita Express

Oh yeah that's why I took the Narita Express: it was covered by my JR Pass

But on the way back the Narita Express would've cost me about 3000 yen I think

And the bus was like a 1000 yen so

Thank God I went to the information center

And sorted everything out

So I'm at my gate

I believe this may be my plane

Over there

Well I am like over two hours early as always

So it could be somebody else's plane

And yeah, I spent the last of my yen, I had 210 yen left

And this onigiri was exactly 210 yen

My very last onigiri in Japan

And I don't even know what flavour this is

Least flattering angle

Just a sec, I'm going to open this up

Oh no

Looks like that egg thing

I had that at a restaurant once and I found it really gross so hopefully this will be ok

Come with me

See, it's got this eggy texture thing

I'll have a go

It's the same as at that restaurant

I really don't like it

I escaped it until now

Oh my God no

No no

I'm going to enjoy this as much as I can. Maybe eat around the

What is it? It's like cod roe or something. I don't know my fish

Gonna eat this

And enjoy the view of Narita airport

Good evening.

Good evening.

Good evening.

TWICE is in Japan now.

We will have a Showcase later.

We will have it at 7.

Dinner? Yes, we had dinner.

We had it early today.

It's been awhile since I was on V LIVE so I feel very awkward.

Hi.

What should I talk about?

"Be careful not to catch a cold". Okay.

ONCE, you should be careful not to catch a cold.

Recently, TWICE members...

Go forward? Stay here?

Like this?

I am covering it. We can't see you.

We...

TWICE members are suffering from mild cold too. You don't have to worry though.

ONCE, you should be careful not to catch a cold.

If you get a cold, you will struggle.

Our goods.

Cute, huh?

Very small candy stick.

It shines too. You can light it up.

I...

I am at Hiroshima.

We will go to Osaka tomorrow.

We will go to Osaka.

This...

For our showcase in Japan, we visited many cities.

We went on trains too.

We went on trains twice.

We got here today by a train too.

So...

I've never went on a train in Korea.

I am not sure about the difference.

Hello. Hello.

"See you at Tokyo". Alright.

Train...

Jihyo and Nayeon told me that

it was their first time on a train.

It wasn't their first time just in Japan but in their whole lifetime.

Cool, huh?

Yes? Switzerland?

Switzerland... That's right.

We went on a train in Switzerland.

Hello.

I don't know what to say now.

Minari? Where is Minari?

How can I put this down?

Hello.

There we go. Someone said, "Your hands are pretty".

It wasn't my hand.

Thank you.

It was my manager's hand.

We ate.

"Tzuyu, what are you doing"?

I came on V LIVE to talk to ONCE.

The lighting is better here.

Was it yesterday? We had Motsu Nabe yesterday.

Before that. The day before yesterday.

Japanese Motsu Nabe is good.

We had it for the first time.

The name...

What was it called?

"Why do you touch the screen"?

Sorry.

Hold on.

Can I go visit other members?

Other members...

No?

I don't know what to talk about.

Members.

I want to call other members.

Anyone watching? Nobody is watching my V LIVE?

Please come.

Please come.

Tzuyu, what do you usually do in your hotel room?

Usually, in my hotel room...

In my hotel room...

I usually sleep.

I sleep or take a shower.

I take a shower before I go to sleep.

No, I take a shower and I put a face pack and I go to sleep.

Sometimes, I talk to my parents on the phone.

Hi.

Show us the "Candy Pop" dance.

"Candy Pop"?

Sure.

Here we go.

Stand up?

Here we go.

Hello.

Someone said, "The person in the back is cute".

I want to call other members.

"How did you feel when you watched Candy Pop MV for the first time"?

Well...

It was our first anime MV.

It was very cool.

It was very cute.

It was very cool that they made our characters for the first time. I loved it.

So I showed the MV to my mother several times.

My mom kept asked me to show her the MV several times.

That's what happened.

"How much do you sleep nowadays"?

I...

I sleep a lot.

I sleep at least 8 hours a day.

"What do you think about the PD character"?

I think it resembles him a lot.

They did a great job making the characters.

"Tzuyu, you are doing a great job. Please have V LIVE more often".

Thank you.

I am not good at talking so it may sound a bit awkward.

But thank you for supporting me.

Thank you for understanding me.

Momo? Momo isn't here.

This one.

They drew us.

Our characters.

"Candy Pop".

"Candy Pop".

I think they did a great job making our characters.

Right?

Guess which one is me.

I am here.

Can I show them inside?

Let's take a look.

Can you tell?

Can you tell it's me?

Yes.

So cute.

Here it is.

This is Jeongyeon.

It's just like her.

Let's look for Tzuyu.

Tzuyu.

Momo.

Tzuyu.

Tzuyu.

It's my twin sis in the back.

She's here to perform today.

It's my twin sister.

We look alike, huh?

Tzuyu is...

Here it is.

I don't put my hair in pigtails that much when I perform on stages.

But put up my hair in pigtails for the MV.

It's very...

What do you think?

My mom really liked it.

She said, "You look great with pigtails. You look so cute".

Hope you like it~

Tzuyu's photos.

Pigtails.

Sana had pink hair for the first time.

Sana.

I think she looks great.

I think I would look very weird with it.

Good, good.

Cartoon.

In the back?

How long will you stay there for?

Now...

We had two showcases here in Japan.

We still have more to go. But after two showcases...

Tzuyu, time to fix your hair and make-up.

Okay.

Got it.

See you again soon. I'll be back.

I will be back with other members.

I am sorry that I wasn't good at talking.

I will be back soon. Bye.

Japan Try On Haul 2018 | GU, Zara - Duration: 7:23.

hi guys i'm alyssa and i'm alyanna, and we are Think In Style

so you might have noticed our set up's different today. it's because we don't have our tripod.

our dad that kept it somewhere where we can't reach

and it's hard to get so our set up's like funny--very funny and messy from where we're sitting

but we hope it's okay from where you guys are.

and our background's not as pretty, but we still have the japan try on haul here

and the clothes rack there, so i hope that's enough

but, anyway, we just got back from Japan recently

and we shopped quite a bit so… even if it was hard to--so much layers i don't how everyone else does it

i don't know how people shop during winter but you just gotta shop

for my first item, i'm really really happy about them

these earrings from GU. they're so nice when you put them on and i've been wearing them

all the time. i actually saw these but i didn't think they were nice, but they're

nice when you wear them. i thought they were odd at first but like…it suits my face.

since she did her accessory, i also got a belt from GU as well

i've been wanting a circle belt for awhile. i think i got into--cos my other one from Uniqlo

this one's gold the other one had silver hardware and this one's like reversible

i don't really care about the velvet side. i didn't actually think you could flip it but alyanna told me earlier that you could.

so, the next thing i got from GU and the last thing i got from GU,

is this skirt. i wasn't really into this tie thing detail when it first came out

my sister's judging me right now, i feel it but

i'm not judging! i'm just not rocking it

you know it's just still not my style

but i really wanna try it cos i'm too scared to try them on at the top

but anyway i also got a skirt from GU #skirtnaysh. it's pink and it's actually really huge when you try it on

but huge like it's fluffy. i feel like it's a fall-ish skirt

yeah i would say spring actually

cos it's pretty long--it's not like a short skirt, but i like it. i actually like the pink-ness and

i like this belt detail here.

so, next store we went to was in Gotemba cos we spent like a day trip there

i went to AF and i just got myself some jeans

and i love jeans.

they fit so well, i love how high waisted they are

so, my next item are tights. i don't know why i bought this cos i'm never actually gonna wear this here

but i think we're gonna travel more during spring and winter now

cos, like we said, our break's aren't gonna be at the same time. it's always clashing, so most of the time

so, most of the time, when we're gonna travel, it's always gonna be cold cos it's on december

we don't have the same summer

you know i want to wear skirts with me travel cos i always just wear jeans

cos i get cold really quickly. but if it's spring i think i can do it

winter, no

no, she's really the most malamigin. she gets cold the easiest in the family

we went to Japan she had like four… five layers? no, i had 3 layers, 2 heat-techs

a shirt....okay, maybe sometimes four, and then the jacket on top, so that's five

and then (for jeans), i have two heat-techs under it's the thin one and then the ultra one

i'm horrible

and we only experienced 0 degree weather--that was the lowest

at least we never went like negative. sometimes, when there's wind it feels like negative

especially when there's wind, it's horrible, but we're from a tropical country

not used to it

so, my next few shirts are gonna be plain "ish" shirts that i can just wear to school

cos they were at a good price. i wouldn't really consider them super plain

it's a nice basic that i can just mix and match. so, anyway, this first one has like a

not high neck...not even mock neck, but it's really small. it hugs my neck a little

it's like a mock mock neck

and it's ribbed also; it has like lettuce sleeves. i think i have something similar

oh, it's the same style of shirt, but mine's striped and they're both ribbed

and it's not--it doesn't hug your stomach.

it falls like after your boobs, so you can't see the stomach. so, since she showed her stripes...

i got two shirts with stripes cos i love stripes

i think they're the same style actually. they just fall really nicely

and it's a bargain deal. now, this is what i would call a good lazy school shirt

and it's like i love the material; it's like knit. i feel like when i wear it, i won't sweat a lot

i also got stripes, but this one's from GU

i literally just got it because it was funky. i wish i could see like normal shirts like without

sleeves because it's really hot in the philippines that they sell it like this

i like it. it's ribbed, though, and it's a little tight, so it's really for the cold

you know who this reminds me of? freya? freya would totally wear this with (tan) suede pants

i'd wear this with jeans, though, because she's very like... brown… orange, her style is very 70s, i think

you can really mix and match this. this may even look good with a black vinyl skirt

this would also look good under a black sleeveless dress

wait--i also have one more stripes actually. it's also for the cold; it's still ribbed

it has this thing under, so it's like cinched. also, it's not hard to tuck in cos it's already like that

so, my last item is just a plain white shirt with metal details on the shoulders

i like it!

i just realized that it looks like the sweater i got from strad. but i like it cos this one's a shirt

where i can actually wear this

and i feel like it's a nice spin on a plain white tee. so this is from Zara also

wow i actually got pretty winter-y stuff, so you know… preparing for the next one

i don't think we're gonna do it again though, maybe somewhere where it's not too cold

maybe like 18 degrees. yeah, i also really hate how my hair's like legit frizzy right now

it still hasn't recovered; even my skin, it's so dry

my legs have been super scaly the past few days; it's disgusting. my lips are so freaking dry maybe i didn't

take care of it enough, but...

anyway, my last item is just a knit. i was really lacking in good knits when we went there

so i just needed to get one. like alyanna said: preparing. cos we are for sure gonna travel to more cold places

in the future. it reminded me of the one you have actually. cos i really like that

but i feel like this is less blue and mine is a lot warmer

yeah, mine's a lot heavier. but i love chunky knits

also from GU... everything's from GU

so, like we said, we....

were lazy to shop

you have to take off your shoes and you have to put on the thing and you have to take off how many layers

but this isn't everything that we got. we actually split it cos we knew we were gonna talk a lot

and we didn't wanna risk having to upload a long video

so, our next one's gonna come sometime after this is posted. if you guys like to see haul videos, we post those a lot

we love to shop, if it's not obvious enough and haul them after

so... subscribe to us! did i not say that already?

and click the bell to get notified whenever we post. and we'll see you in the next one BYE!

What Happened In Japan After The Tsunami? - Duration: 18:16.

Standing here in the midst of this bustling modern street, it's difficult to

imagine that this town - the town of Onagawa - was once on the front line of

the tsunami that struck on March 2011 At 2:46 in the afternoon just 15 miles

from where i'm standing now a magnitude 9 earthquake triggered a devastating

tsunami which swept through the bay and washed away the entire town. In the space

of a few hours the tsunami with waves of up to 15 metres high destroyed 70%

of Onagawa's buildings and claimed the lives of 827 people, almost 10% of the

town's population. Looking at the images of the aftermath you might easily wonder

how the locals here could have possibly hoped to recover from such a disaster

and yet from the debris of the tsunami Onagawa and many towns along the

coastline have not only come on to quickly recover but gone on to thrive

and succeed with a stronger sense of community and a renewed spirit of entrepreneurship.

Seven years have passed since the most powerful earthquake ever

recorded in Japan wreaked havoc upon the Tohoku coastline, but the echoes of the

disaster still live on through the people whose lives were forever changed by it.

I've come to the towns of Onagawa and Kesennuma and the Tohoku coastline to

hear the inspiring stories of those who are breathing new life into the region.

From an eccentric mayor who brought a town together, to entrepreneurs and even

Japan's most famous actor who have chosen to start new businesses in the region.

To the owner of an award-winning in who tragically lost her family but

never stopped looking forward to the future.

Because they are people who have such a positive mindset about the future I

think that there's going to be amazing things that are going to be happening

here going forward.

Yosuke Kajiya owns his own workshop called the "Glide Garage" designing

handcrafted luxury guitars. Originally from the distant island of Tanegashima

at the Japanese mainlands southernmost point

Yosuke moved a thousand kilometers north to the town of Onagawa to start his new business.

His innovative guitar known as the "Questrel" is unique for not using

any screws or glues, instead using the same traditional Japanese carpentry

techniques used to build shrines and temples, where wood is carefully carved and slotted together.

So it doesn't use any screws on the neck joint?

No, no screws and no glues.

Oh my god so on the back there's no screws, no nothing.

And you're the only company in Japan - in the world - who's doing this and using this system? Yes.

It was desgined in collaboration with Ken Okuyama, one of Japan's most celebrated industrial

designers who previously masterminded the Enzo Ferrari.

So the guy who's

designed Ferraris is designing your guitar? Yes.

You know they must be good then.

Between the guitars famous designer and the unique production method the

Questrel has been selling for up to $7,500 to enthusiastic buyers keen to

get their hands on the exclusive instrument.

Glide garage is one of the

new innovative companies that sprung up in the heart of Onagawa town; rather than

rebuilding the old town the people of Onagawa

invested their reconstruction budget, starting from scratch and building a modern

town center and aiming to turn it into the hub for the local community and the

air of change has attracted entrepreneurs like Yosuke

to relocate to a typically isolated fishing town.

Next door to the Glide Garage is an equally innovative business acting as a showroom

for the unusual sight of the Danborghini.

Produced from 500 pieces of

corrugated cardboard and on a one-to-one scale, the Damborghini is the brainchild of

local business owner Hideki Konnou. It's also a clever play on words given

that Danboru is the Japanese word for cardboard. Hideki owns a corrugated

cardboard company and in recent years he's branched out into producing toys

and model replicas from a giant Gundam robot to an impressive ATAT walker from Star Wars.

I wanted to find out how he'd got involved with the new towns development.

With Lamborghini's blessing the Damborghini soon became Onagawa's

unlikely mascot helping to reinvigorate the town's image and remarkably even

leading to Hideki meeting the Emperor himself when he paid a visit to the region.

Hideki's inspiration for the Damborghini came from his long-held

dream of owning a supercar - a dream that seemed far away when he and his family

were forced to move to prefabricated housing after their home was damaged by the tsunami.

However seven years later and with

business booming and he's finally been able to get his hands on the real thing.

Slightly better than the cardboard version.

Becoming the mayor of a town that's been almost completely destroyed is no easy task

and yet Yoshiaki sooner put himself

forward for the challenge the months after the tsunami in his home town of Onagawa.

I met him overlooking the construction site of the new waterfront

which is still being terraformed and raised several meters as a preventative measure for future Tsunamis.

Whilst Yoshiaki trying to attract new people to Onagawa

in the nearby city of Ishinomaki there's an entire industry

attempting to attract younger generations to their profession through

some unusual entrepreneurial initiatives. The profession of being a fisherman is

becoming less and less popular to younger generations and with that in mind

the local fishermen have launched a brand known as "Fisherman Japan" to

showcase the more exciting and adventurous aspects of the trade.

Last year they launched a somewhat unconventional service that went viral

online called "Fisherman Call".

So the idea is if you're a lazy student or somebody who's struggling to wake up

in the morning you choose the time you want to be woken up and select your

fisherman and then the next morning the fisherman who's out there somewhere

working in the Pacific Ocean will drop you a line - yes pun intended -

And wake you up and maybe even show you what he's caught. I mean it does

sound a bit gimmicky and yet there's something quite nice about connecting two

different people from different backgrounds and professions through the

difficult daily task of waking up in the morning.

My next stop is Kesennuma

a port town further north which suffered extensive damage and I've come to hear

how Japan's most internationally recognisable actor Ken Watanabe came to

open his own restaurant in the town in the years after the tsunami.

Unfortunately Ken Watanabe isn't here today he's off around the world

somewhere making a movie but every day he sends a fax to the restaurant for

customers to read so you can get some sort of connection with him nonetheless

and this is a book of all the messages he sent recently and this is today's one

and it reads.

It's weird to think Ken Watanabe is

out there somewhere in the world and he sent that to welcome in the winter season.

I asked the manager Megumi what was Ken Watanabe's motive for getting

involved with Kesennuma and how the K-port came to be.

And of course the inevitable question;

How often does the man himself visit the cafe?

After the tsunami many people from around Japan and internationally came to

volunteer during the difficult years of the region's recovery. Like me Nisshant Anu

came to Tohoku as an English teacher on the Japan exchange teaching program

After teaching he returned home to the US but has since come back to Kesennuma

to work for the local tourism department. I wanted to find out what factors have

led him to return.

So the first apartment I lived in, in Kesennuma was actually

right behind a place called the Yatai Mura which is the recovery village

temporary housing establishment for people who had lost their businesses in

the tsunami. So there's maybe like 15 or 20 different shops and restaurants.

I'd have to walk through to get home. Walking through the Yatai Mura on my way home

people would be like "Hey Nisshan! Haven't seen you around in a while!"

"Are you doing alright? Sit down, have a drink. I've got a fish for you man."

"Come eat this fish" and then I'm like oh this is beautiful I'm home.

If you spend time in Kesennuma it's a mindset you'll find in abundance

a friendly optimistic attitude that can often feel the odds with the scale of

the disaster and what the people have been through.

Ichiyo Kannou is the energetic owner of the Tsunakan minshuku

a traditional Japanese bed and breakfast. The Tsunakan has a reputation that

stretches far beyond Kesennuma and Tohoku on account of Ichiyo probably

being the world's friendliest person.

In 2011 her entire home was destroyed by the tsunami

however her and her husband - a prominent local fisherman - rebuilt it and elevated it

several meters and reopened it as the Tsunakan. It quickly became popular with

famous faces including Ken Watanabe often visiting and winning numerous

awards along the way.

Wow. Ken Watanabe

he sat right here and then apparently he fell asleep like this.

Ichiyo became a pillar of the local community in the years following the tsunami.

Just as Ichiyo and her family were putting the disaster behind them tragedy struck again in 2017.

One day Ichiyo's husband, eldest daughter and son-in-law

went out fishing and their boat overturned all three of

them lost their lives in the accident. For several months Ichiyo

contemplated on the future of her business before deciding to reopen the Tsunakan and

continue doing what she loved.

When people think of the Tohoku coastline often they still picture those same

images we all saw on our screens in March 2011 but today if you visit the

region you'll find that quite the opposite, that people carry a strong

sense of optimism for the future. Their stoic attitude towards the worst

imaginable circumstances is not only inspiring but a testament to the

strength of the human spirit. Obviously a disaster is not a positive

thing but I think the unique spirit of the people here is that they've sort of

taken the disaster and taken the positives away from the disaster. The disaster

happened and there's nothing we can do about that but where do we go from there.

[Eng Sub] 2018/01/29 Tekken 7 FR Knee's Stream 'EVO Japan Comments' - Duration: 2:54:40.

Thank you.

thx.

hahaha.

yep.

Thank you.

I feel I cannot do it alone.

Thank you.

Thx. ah... I used ...

Kazuya, Paul,

and

Bryan

Devin Jin

Steve.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Chanel came.

I pick Devil Jin when I met AK.

Hello.

Thank you.

Thank you. (*He is embarrassed by their continuing donation)

It's crazy.

Hello

Thx

I pick Bryan at the Grand Final.

I couldn't predict Chanel reset the score.

Ah, this hoodie.

Wow... It's red.

Yes.

Hoodie is red.

I thought that I want to get it.

Let's see.

Okay.

I came back today.

Thank you.

I cannot imagine.

My qualifying match is broadcast just once.

I pick Paul in the qualifying match.

And

I matched with Japanese player who pick Feng.

I arrived in hurry so I couldn't focus.

But

I won.

I met 'Shadow Hana' whom I met in China.

He pick Josie.

I pick Kazuya.

MY group started at 12.

And it was done at 12:40.

Bcz...

There were so many absentees.

Not only my group, But also other groups.

Chanel and Qudans also said that.

Hahahah (*fan says he watched knee's match in the restaurant and shouted "Yes Moo-men!")

(*Moo-men : Knee's Korean pronunciation is 'Moo-reup' . Moo-reup with Amen)

Hahahah

Yep

Thank you.

So,

Next matches were held at 3.

I pick Paul with versus Claudio.

He was an Australian.

I won, and next,

I met Akuma player.

It was weird.

Actually, I practiced with Chanel before the tournament.

Chanel pick Akuma again and again.

"Hey, will you pick Akuma tommorow?" -"I don't know.."

Finally I met Akuma player.

What the...?

So that Akuma player...

We sat down before the match.

And somebody stood behind him... maybe his friend.

And he said... "MAN, versus Knee?"

"Oh SHIT...."

But that Akuma player said...

"Hum... No, No. Don't worry."

But... I won...

After that match,

round of 64.

Round of 1224... but it progressed quickly.

Matches were held in A Hall and B Hall.

So fast.

Round of 64 started at 6.

You couldn't watch my match.

I met MadDogJin in the round of 64.

I didn't see the match table intentionally.

Bcz...

I don't want to feel uncomfortable.

For example... If I met a Japanese player,

I would think about who he is.

Like... "Ah... I know his nickname..."

"Let me see.... is he a Divine Ruler or Eternal Ruler?"

MY matches are broadcast in the round of 16.

So, I didn't see the bracket intentionally.

I didn't want to be worried about opponents.

I tend to exaggerate my opponents' ability.

Then I feel nervous.

I knew my bracket when somebody told me.

So...

When I met MadDogJin, I pick paul.

And...

Next opponent was AK.

I pick Devil Jin.

And then, Round of 16!

I told you so.....

Lucky chance is an important part of the tournament.

It's so important.

Match table is also important.

Soooo....

Chance is important.

No,no. All of TOP 8 got prize.

Hello!

This EVO Japan 2018's prize is smaller than EVO.

I think... Players didn't pay the entry fee.

Bcz,

We have to pay the entry fee in EVO.

But not in Japan.

This is medal.

You see...?

And this.

Can you see this...?

You cannot see it well bcz of my choromakey.

I didn't know about Noroma's interview.

Anyway... this ramen...

This cup noodle appeared in Tekken market in succession...

Yes...

Cup noodles...

Last TWT.... Cup noodles appeared first...

But now...

I had some death matches of my first day in Japan.

With KuroKuro.

with Gon, 18:15.

Ryujin?

Ah, LowHigh is in Japan.

He will come back on Thurs.

LowHigh vs Chirichiri?

Ah.....

The ax?

Did LowHigh killed by his ax?

Really?

OMG>

So fun.

LowHigh! You cannot have a fun game in Japan.

You can't.

With Ax-man...

You have to control your mind.

"Oh, thank you for this good game."

You can't imagine that.

Chirichiri already thinks that you are his enemy.

Oh,

Do they play in local?

Online match?

or local match?

I met him in online match,

then he used ax for provocation.

But when I met him in local match,

he didn't do that.

But Chirichiri usually uses ax when he meet Japanese users.

Thank you. I can't join KuroKuro cup.

It's 2.10~2.12

Maybe, 2.9~2.11.

I have a schedule in 2.10.

ROX with Asus...

Clouds always follow the sunshine.

Yes

I'm worried...

about future's bad things...

Oh, There are Highlights of Evo Japan.

Thank you.

Fan: Why did you use a lot of Taunt in the Grand final?

I want to show it!

Everybody wants my Bryan.

SF?

I'm interested about it.

Bryan is difficult in a long-term tournaments.

Bcz...

I played Bryan in ATL.

But Evo Japan started at 8 a.m.

And it finished at 9 p.m.

Bryan...

You have to focus when you play Bryan.

You have to make a chance of TJU...

Delay catch...

Jack, Paul...

No. Jack,

Dragunov, LiLi...

Paul...

But he don't use middle skills and upper.

So, I become distracted

in this long term tournament.

It's difficult to focus.

So I use another character.

But Chanel...!

I think Chanel hogs the limelight.

No, there's no input-lag.

I used TJU, there was no input-lag.

In fact, I couldn't use TJU

bcz of input-lag.

Now, it's ok.

It's nice.

I think Chanel.... he played with impact.

His ceremony...

He hogs the limelight.

If he lose after that redbull ceremony,

that was over.

But he won.

Redbull effect...

Doping....

Yes

He acted again and again.

Audience liked that.

Wow, Chanel...

that's cool.

Anyway, Chanel is a great player.

He always lose when he met me.

I won him with Alisa but!!

He is a good player.

Hey... (*Chanel came)

I would finish you with Bryan.

You cannot win my Bryan.

I want to use Bryan.

Bcz it's Winner's match.

I want to show my identity.

But it's difficult to use Bryan continously.

It's a long term journey. It's my experience.

By the way,

Steve is good to use.

Maybe, Everybody has a homesick about Bryan.

Ah, ok. Hold on.

Evo. It's not easy.

Ah, my schedule?

Paul?

When I lost my 4 points to Chanel,

I thought.

His Alisa was so good!

When I used Hatchet kick, he parried.

So i thought a lot.

Maybe Paul....

Hum...

But I thought that's not good.

I pick Steve when I met AO's Alisa in Dubai.

Alisa users feel difficult with Steve.

Since... Tekken 6.

When Chanel lose versus my Steve, he changed his character.

But Lucky Chloe was a good choice.

I lose with Steve... versus Help Me's Chloe.

See.?

Highlightss.

First, I feel nervous.

Get off me...

Get off me.... hahaha.

Hopkick.

This is Paul.

Paul is weak for skills that makes his opponents go to the wall.

haha,,,, that damage...

He is sleeping.... shit.

Hey guys,

I have sth to talk to you.

It's so important.

I finished TSC Grand Final.

I thought that was just an event.

Just once. right?

And...

Oh, hold on.

And now...

The important thing...

is....!

I will held more TSC 3:3 battles!

It called, 'ARENA'

Tekken Stars Cup Arena.

Tekken Stars Cup will be held in Green Arcade.

And Tekken Stars Cup Arena will be held in AfreecaTV FreecUp Studio.

Let me show you.

Hold on.

This is with AfreecaTV.

Arena is 3:3 battle.

Maybe that's total prize.

I also don't know about details.

But it fixed.

Tekken Stars Cup will be held.

After TSC Grand Final,

I talked with staffs of AfreecaTV.

They were satisfied with this kind of tournaments.

They wanted to proceed it again and again.

They suggested me twice a year.

But I want 4 times a year.

But TSC is sponsored by AfreecaTV.

So it's hard to talk.

I want 4 times but...

you know what I mean.

But I tried to talk.

And now.... Dreams Come True!

Salute! ^^7

When I started TSC at Green Arcade,

I thought...

I want to make the tournament like Tekken Crash.

For,,,, Korean Tekken Market.

And it happens!

Yes... Life is long.

So I want to proceed TSC Arena

with Arcade game machines.

Yep.

sponsored by Green Arcade.

Maybe qualifying match will be held on Feb.

Bcz I have to start TSC Arena in Mar.

So qualifying matches will be started on Feb.

If a lot of teams will join this tournaments,

I will make qualifying matches twice.

Bcz,

Rule is double-elimination.

Last TSC Frand final, it took 4 hours.

4 hours....

Maybe it's impossible when 20 teams are ready.

1st qualifying match, and 2nd qualifying match.

It's impossible to finish all the qualifying matches in one day.

Maybe we can start early.

Abroad players? Of course!

In Green Arcade, there are Japanese controller and pads.

You can see the player's national flag icon in the bracket.

When I saw that, I thought...

TSC would be held like that.

But... It's my opinion.

When I met In-ho, Jeong in the AfreecaTV Awards, (*Korean famous commentator)

He talked about my tournament.

He wanted to join with me.

But I said.....

"You are an important figure..."

Of course I want to be with him.

With the mood of Tekken Crash.

Well, we have to start on Feb. I have to make TOP 4.

This is the summary.

After meeting, I will give more details.

I'm the host of TSC,

and I'm a player.

And I will visit some countries...

I'll be busy.

Yes, I think so. Nice naming.

I agonized about tournament naming.

And ARENA..... It's cool.

Broadcast with TOP 8...?

Then we have rent studio twice.

Yes, twice.

But, I think...

It's...

difficult.

Bcz of ASL (AfreecaTV Starcraft League)

Also Battle Ground League...

I think it's difficult to rent studio twice a month.

And you have to know that.

TSC is....

AfreecaTV also wants to get this straight.

TSC is MY events.

AfreecaTV doesn't progress this.

I make this tournaments and AffreecaTV is my sponsor.

ATL is AfreecaTV's own league.

And, a mouse pad with TSC logo was made.

I have to check it.

And... please join this tournaments

as the audience.

Afreeca FreecUp studio is near by Samsung station.

Maybe I will be a player.

But I can lose.

This is Korea. It's hard to be TOP 4.

This is Korea.

Yep, entrance fee is free.

I don't know. Maybe I can tell you more when it begins.

I can proceed it very fast.

Actually, I want to meet some foreign players at TSC.

For examples... YAMASA...

And also... CYCLOPS...

Also COOAS...

Wow it's incredible.

With national flag icons!

And I want to change some direction.

When we introduce players,

they're all sit down.

It looks like a quiz show.

I want to direct it with some changes.

An international competition?

Maybe...

That's sponsor's task.

It's all about money.

But sponsor can solve that problem.

Well, I think it's a Korean's event.

The main part is us.

But if some foreign players want to participate,

Let's think about it.

With KuroKuro Cup?

Wow!

That's cool.

That's mutual dependence

What the...

This is a reason why we have to put our heads together.

But KuroKuro Cup is always held on Feb.

Wow...

Winner of KuroKuro Cup can get a seed for TSC.

Cool.

And I invite KuroKuro and let him comment the Japanese players' matches.

Khh.....

Right?

Hahah

Getting bigger.

Wow...

getting bigger...

Global TSC.

Actually,

I always think about...

that.... is...

Korea is lack of Tekken tournaments!

Japanese MasterCup,

EVO in USA,

And...

CEO also...!

Strong Style!

Final Round!

And...

Rev Major in Philippine.....

A lot of tournaments in Europe...

I mean, Every country has their own tournament.

But not in Korea!

Despite Korean players are the best.

I want to make it.

But it's not easy.

A Korean tournament which foreign players want to participate.

I want to make it.

I really want it.

I can do easily with a lot of sponsors.

But it's difficult.

Bcz Korean likes PC games, such as LOL, Battle Ground...

Anyway,

I need a fame.

Then, foreign players will join TSC.

And it will be bigger and bigger.

Near enough EVO...?

They will think about Korean Tekken Events,

and participate.

Then I can held it

with PS4.

PS4 is fair.

Sponsored by SONY?

Ah!

After EVO Japan,

I met a staff from SONY.

He gave me his business card.

He said, SONY is considered of tournaments.

Suddenly...

SONY Korea.

Maybe we can think it later.

Later..

Maybe TSC will be one of TWT.

Haha.

in Korea.

Anyway I have to discuss it more.

It's Feb.

I will start qualifying matches twice,

and on Mar, TOP 4...

The problem is...

Twitch...

Anyway, I'm in Korea now.

See you next time.

MAybe I need a rest.

And Every Wed,

I will play another game.

What do you want?

Horror...?

Dragon Ball Fighters...? Not released yet.

Horror....?

DBF.... released?

Really?

Ok.

This Wed, I'll play DBF.

Maybe you guys like me to play another game,

I will play twice a week.

LOL? I didn't play it.... for 1 year?

Let's go on Wed.

Okay.

Bye.

Thanks for your support!

TOP 5 GOSSIP IN JAPAN [02] in the entertainment world - Duration: 8:11.

The Gossip Seba returns

with a new episode of the most scandalous things that happened in the land of the rising sun

are you ready to see them?

Hi guys I'm Sebastiano Serafini

if you're new to this channel, don't forget to subscribe

to turn on the notifications, to leave a comment, a like and to share this video!

This is the second video of Gossip with Seba

we are like at the second part of this bulletin board

because the other video reached over 10.000 views^^

and I said wow, you really are interestend in japanese Gossip

so, I searched

and I found other 5 marvellous Gossip

and I assure you these five are also very funny!

at the same level, as the wig happen in the previous one

for those who didn't see it before, I show you the wig scene

ok, so welcome back here

now, let's begin with the top 5!

unfortunately, I can't remember all the names, so I'm going to use my fantastic cellphone

please don't hate me for this!

let's begin with the 5th position

this one is not such a big scandal, but it's funny

because also you could have worn these T-shirts, like these two:

Ai Takahashi from Morning Musume and Osamu Mukai

they've worn T-Shirts with written --

and the other --

and you can buy them, I leave you the link,

because you need to have these t-Shirts!

the best is when Morning Musume hold an interview

and like every time they tried to blur the written

(for the people that don't know what that sentece mean, I'm not going to translate it for you)

they tried to film only her face, so that the people couldn't read the writing

let's continue with the 4th position:

here we have the scandal of Maeda Atsuko,

she is like first member that entered in the group AKB48

she basically graduated

and after that she continued to work as idol, actress, and so on...

and for her graduation, they made a party for her

and I think she drank to much

as you can see from this beautiful picture...

then her friend Takeru Sato came

(they confirmed that they're only friends)

and he carried her home, but the funny thing was not so much the photo

but the whole collection of meme's that people did, based on that photo...

so, now I will show you a gallery, of the best pictures!

with also some background music

maybe these two scandals weren't so good, so let's go on with the top 3 - a much better one!

we have Koda Kumi, unfortunatly I couldn't find the video,

but what did she say? just before she got pregnant

she said that she wants a child before she turns 30, otherwise her womb will smell...

well, I don't understand where she picked up this thing^^ and to talk about that in an interview!

but yeah, she needed to apologize

because in Japan you need always to apologize, if you do something wrong

I don't know if she did truthfully apologize or not...but yeah, this one is a funny thing

I only found this video and it's not the one where she apologized

(in tears Koda Kumi did apologize many times)

Koda Kumi is the one that sang "real me" or "what can I do for you" - in FF X2

if you do such things in Japan, for like some months you can't work

it's not like in Italy, that when you do something scandalous, you're more famous than before

in Japan if you do a scandal, for some time you can't work.

let's go on with number 2!

this one involves another ex Morning Musume member

Mari Yaguchi, she is like this high

1,50meters...

she did marry this really handsome man, Masaya Makamura

he is an 1.90m high actor

in their wedding photo the high difference was huge!

(a bit like my mum and dad)

and she did betray him with another actor Kenzo Umeda

but what happened? one day Masaya returned back home

and he like returned right when the crime scene was happening

well, he understood right away that she betrayed him

and what did happen? he saw someone hiding in the wardrobe^^ seems like a movie!

in the wardrobe there was Kenzo naked and Masaya did order him to ask for forgiveness on his knees

and then he recorded everything...

well, I don't know whose scandal is...

Mari's betraying, Masaya taking photos or Kenzo naked

well the photos never came out, but there are drawings of that scene...

the best thing about scandals on tv,

is that they can't show the photos,

so they draw some very funny cartoons

I show you the drawing on full screen!

beautiful, this will be probably be the cover of this video

let's talk about the number one

this is like the most funny thing that happened

we speak about Ryutaro Nonomura

he was a former politician

he did a little trickery

like our italian politician...

in one year he travelled over 195 countries,

with 3 millions of yen, coming out of nowhere

he took like these 3 million yen from pubblic money

and he used them for his personal travel expences,

well I don't really understood what he said in the apologize video

because it was very hard to understand him

we talk about 22.000€, not billions of €

but, the most funny thing is his video where he apologizes

let's watch a piece together

and the funny thing is, after this video...let's re-watch it

after this video of shouting and crying

a lot of meme's came out

I can put another gallery

one, better than the other!

and like people took purikura (photo booth), inspired by him

well, these where today's 5 scandals

let me know which scandal is your favourite among these 5

if you want other scandals, I will do another one

let me know in the comments!

See you tomorrow at 2pm (GMT+1) with another video!

share this video and don't forget to subscribe and to turn on notifications!

Thank you so much for all the support! this channel is increasing, only because of you!

I adore you all very much! see you! bye

Why is GERMANY Growing More Than JAPAN? - VisualPolitik EN - Duration: 11:16.

One of the most surprising things about Japan – and there are many surprising things – is

how safe it is.

See, Japan is one of the few countries in the world where you can leave an iPhone X

[Ten] in a coffee shop and not have to worry about anything but dropping by the next day.

Because, my friends, it is almost certain that your recently released, brand new iPhone

X will be there waiting for you.

And no, I'm not exaggerating.

Also, Japan, is just a beautiful country with amazing sites, where everything seems to be

where it should be.

But...

As you know this isn't a travel channel... and this video isn't sponsored by Japan's

Ministry of Tourism, so... let's get to the point.

Recently we found out that Emperor Akihito has decided to abdicate.

("The emperor of Japan will step down on April 30, 2019, the first abdication by a

Japanese monarch in two centuries".

New York Times.)

Well, see: this emperor came to the throne almost 30 years ago, in 1989...

Just when the great Japanese crisis began.

No, in Japan the emperor has no power, so Akihito wasn't responsible, but don't

say that can't be just coincidence and bad luck.

We can practically say that it was after Akihito's arrival that 30 years of stagnation began.

In this video we will see what happened, what caused this great crisis and why the German

economic model has managed to defeat the Japanese model.

But first, my friends, a small history lesson.

(MIRACLES EXIST)

Japan and Germany are two very interesting countries, with a lot in common and, also,

many differences.

After the Second World War both countries were literally in ruins.

They had lost not only their infrastructure, but also an entire generation.

However, despite this, between the 1950s and the 1970s, both countries experienced such

a powerful takeoff that in those two decades they not only managed to recover, but to become

two of the largest economies in the world, as well as two of the richest countries.

In fact, even though it might seem incredible today, for years it was speculated that Japan

could surpass even the United States as the world's largest economy.

How things have changed!

The fact is that between 1955 and 1973 Japan grew at an annual average rate of 9%, and

between 1973 and 1990, above 4%.

These truly are some incredible rates.

And Germany, didn't stay behind, it had average annual growth of 7% for almost 30

years.

Both countries were at full throttle.

Their factories worked tirelessly, there was no unemployment, and both Germans and the

Japanese saved and invested their money all over the world.

Suddenly, Japanese and German companies became famous worldwide.

This was very important, especially for Japan, a country that lives constantly under nature's

threat...

Besides being a very mountainous country, Japan suffers from all kinds of natural disasters:

earthquakes, cyclones, tsunamis, etc, etc.

By the way, in future VISUALPOLITIK videos, we will tell you all about how these two "economic

miracles" took place.

Well, the fact is that in 1989 this entire economic takeoff stopped, it came to an end

and gave way to what is now known as the great Japanese stagnation.

("Forget Greece, Japan is the world's real economic time bomb" Christopher Matthews,

an Axios reporter.)

I'm convinced, this isn't news to you, as it isn't strange to hear people talk

about Japan along with the word crisis.

Yes, ever since I can recall, Japan has been the country of eternal crisis, the country

that has one good year for every three bad ones.

In fact, nowadays we can easily declare Germany the winner in the growth race that both countries

maintained for decades.

See, today Germany – which has also gone through some bad times in recent decades – is

richer, has healthier public accounts, is more competitive internationally and has higher

wages.

To get an idea of Japan's situation, I think we can use two very revealing facts.

First, in Japan real wages, taking inflation into account, are lower today than salaries

back in 1990, 30 years ago!

And second, the Japanese government's public debt is the highest in the world: 250% of

the GDP, yes 250%, you heard that right.

So my friends, you might be wondering, what the hell happened?

What made the German model so much better than the Japanese model?

Well... obviously, there are lots of reasons, but we believe that 3 of them are, by far,

the most important.

Let's take a look at them.

(A PROBLEMATIC MODEL)

First, we can say that there was a big difference between Japan and Germany's development.

The country of the rising sun, opted to protect large industrial conglomerates, the 'Keiretsu'.

The keiretsu are, so to speak, holdings that do practically everything, that is, they have

companies for all kinds of things: cars, planes, tires, toothpaste...

Everything is manufactured by the same holding company, whose companies support each other,

buy and sell products between them and even have their own banks to finance themselves.

So what's the problem with this?

Well... these large conglomerates tended to be very bureaucratic and not very flexible.

So decision-making was a difficult and very slow process.

But...

The Japanese government decided to compensate for all these disadvantages, and didn't

hesitate to give the keiretsu all kinds of advantages and privileges.

For example, Japan's Central Bank financed them generously at abnormally low rates through

specific programs.

However, my friends, the results weren't at all good.

See, these large groups became very influential in the country's politics;

they hid many problems, because of course, when one of these conglomerates' companies

did badly, it was extremely easy for them to infect the rest;

they were in a lot of debt; and they even limited competition.

Of course, how can one compete with such groups, if they are also protected by the government

and have all kinds of privileges?

Sounds hard, right?

On the other hand, in Germany, the political commitment was completely different and focused

on creating a very competitive market with small and medium sized companies.

But, are there large industrial groups in Germany?

Of course, and that's a good thing, as long as they don't depend on the government or

receive privileges that impede competition.

So while Germany's companies thrived, Japan's large conglomerates have had many problems,

and most have disappeared or broken down at some point.

But that's not all...

(THE DISCOUNT POLICY)

For years, Japanese politicians thought that in order to export more, devaluing the currency

from time to time... wasn't a bad thing.

However, in 1985, the real problems began.

See, as a result of all these currency wars, the United States gained a fairly large external

deficit.

And because Washington politicians of the time, as they do now, didn't like it, they

forced the so-called "Plaza Accord", an agreement between the United States, Japan, Germany,

France and the United Kingdom to depreciate the dollar to decrease this trade defi

As you can imagine, this was a huge blow to the Japanese industry, who was used to competing

with some help.

And, what do you think the government did?

It told them "Don't worry, I'm here to save you!"

And then the Japanese government sank its interest rates and began boosting credit like

there was no tomorrow.

The result?

A huge debt spiral, banks distributing money like crazy and a massive bubble in the real

estate and financial markets.

And, do you know what happened?

Well, in 1990, this entire house of cards began to collapse...

In Germany, however, as we also saw here at VISUALPOLITIK, the government opted to maintain

a strong Mark (their currency at that time), which on one hand forced companies to compete

in productivity and innovation, but on the other allowed them to buy foreign technology

and machines under better terms.

But, my friends, there's still a third… and determinant difference.

Listen up.

(LOCKED WITHIN THEMSELVES)

Japan is the most elderly country in the world.

Just over 25% of its population, that is, 1 in 4 Japanese are over 65; and for every

hour that passes, the country's population drops by 50 people.

You heard that right.

In fact, the Japanese government expects the country's population to fall below 100 million

people by the year 2050.

And of course, the more elderly citizens there are, the less young people, and the lower

population.

This has clear consequences:

For one, more public spending on pensions and health care, and for another, less labor.

True, many other countries have this problem but Japan's case is by far the most serious.

And this isn't at all by chance.

Japanese companies have compensated for all the problems caused by the bad policies that

we went over in this video, forcing their employees to work for longer hours than in

other developed countries... which obviously, leaves very little time to think about starting

a family.

What's more, while some countries, such as Germany, have favored the arrival of immigrants,

who tend to have higher population growth rates, Japan has closed its doors.

In fact, when international organizations tell Japan that they have to open their borders

to immigration to face the aging problem… the Japanese government has even said this:

(AUDIO: "Japan's finance minister tells elderly they should 'hurry up and die' to

help reduce country's rising welfare bill".

Daily Mail.)

So my friends, these are the fundamental causes that have led Japan to live in continuous

crisis; and the causes that have made the German model clearly better than the Japanese

model.

But now, it's your turn.

Do you think Japan will manage to overcome this stagnation and permanent crisis period?
