Hey, guys, Professor Bill of Comic Book University and I'm going to explain Stained Glass Scarlet in about a minute.

Stained Glass Scarlet's first appearance was in "Moon Knight vol 1 #14" in December 1981 and she was created by Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz.

Scarlet Fasinera is a tragic figure who was abused by her father.

She set his bed on fire with a lit cigarette, killing him in his sleep.

The police investigators dubbed the incident an accident.

She wanted to become a nun or an actor when she grew-up and, upon reaching adulthood, accepted the habit.

She left the convent to marry a reformed criminal named Vincent Fasinera and they had a son they named, Joseph.

Vince returned to a life of crime and died in a gun-fight with police.

Joe, now 15-years-old, followed in his father's footsteps under the moniker of, Joe "Mad Dog" Fasinera.

She was forced to kill him when he attacked her and Moon Knight.

Scarlett became a prison guard for a number of years after her husband died and she learned the use of several security weapons, including rifles and bayonets.

She took a personal likening to the crossbow, which she employs regularly.

She has a strange mind-link to Moon Knight where she can cause a shared vision between them, even allowing communication between the two.

She's a heartbreaking figure whose story is told not by her powers, but by her pain.

And that's Stained Glass Scarlet is about a minute.

Lawrence, KS - University of Kansas Memorial Stadium / 2016 - Duration: 1:30.

Memorial Stadium is a football stadium located in Lawrence, Kansas, on the campus of the University of Kansas. The stadium is dedicated as a memorial to Kansas students who died in World War I.

Adjacent to the stadium, further up the hill is a Korean War memorial honoring Kansas students who served. The stadium is the home stadium of the Kansas Jayhawks football team.

On December 20, 2017, KU Chancellor Douglas Girod announced that the stadium would be renamed David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in honor of KU alumnus and donor David G. Booth.

Memorial Stadium was built in 1920 funded by students, faculty, and fans.

The stadium's current official capacity is 50,071. A then-record crowd of 51,574 saw the Jayhawks defeat Kansas State 25–18 in 1973.

8 questions with Arizona State University Men's Basketball Coach Bobby Hurley - Duration: 5:30.

>> Coach Bobby Hurley: Hey ASU alumni! Thanks for submitting your questions

>> Hey Derek, great question. I can't go into detail about specific recruits, but certainly all the

exposure, and the media attention and our national ranking through most of the

season has definitely helped people's perception of Arizona State basketball

in a very positive way.

So we're excited about this season, but the future is looking pretty bright

>> Yeah, I just try and communicate and convey and allow my players to see

my passion for the game and hopefully that rubs off on how they

feel about basketball, and I think that begins with with how you practice and

how you train and how you prepare and then from there we try and create a

family environment and just get to know our players and spend time with them and

they're around our families, the coaching staff, so there's a level of comfort

there with what those guys feel like they're a part of a family

Oh Randy, thanks that's a great question. We, my wife and I, you know, love to hike

it's something that we've didn't do much of in New Jersey, they didn't really have

mountains like that to take advantage of the outdoors and you know we've been to

Pinnacle Peak, and Tom's Thumb and Gateway Loop, those are some of our favorite, you know, hiking spots.

>> John and Nancy, thanks for your question. We just try and remind our guys that, with

the number three ranking that we were able to ascend to and then being

nationally ranked through most of the season, there's a target on you, where

teams you know play harder, their coaches prepare them harder because it's now,

we're becoming everyone's big win on their schedule, so we have to remind the

guys that, that we have to take that into account when we're playing our opponents.

>> Thanks to the question Mike. Everything that I've learned is that you base your

style around your players and what their talents and abilities are and I think

with this year's team we're you're pretty guard-oriented with our seniors

and Remi Martin, so we try and take advantage of our speed and our quickness

off the dribble and and then we also complement that with what Romello White

and De'Quon Lake can do around the basket so we try and have the balance we're

looking for, but you know, we want to play fast and you know, we're one of the top

ten teams in the country in scoring and I want our guys to play an exciting

style that they could really enjoy. So I see us playing that way now and in the future.

>> James, thanks for the question. We try and recruit guys that love the game.

That have you know unbridled passion for basketball. I'm getting

better and quality people that hold themselves to a high standard.

You know, guys that have great character because if you don't have those type of

people you're not going to be able to win at the highest level. But it

all starts, really, with just enthusiasm for being good and I think my

seniors have embody. Tre, Shannon and Kodi and a guy like Remi Martin just

he breathes life into what we do every day and it's great to have people like that in your program

>> No, it's a part of my rituals and and as a former athlete I have a lot of

superstitions and things that I do on a game day and having the Red Bull

prior to the game I really don't know if that changes me or does anything but you

know it's something I have it now that I've done over a number of years

not only here at Arizona State

>> The greatest asset this year I think is again been our leadership, particularly

our seniors this year have been very determined to get to the postseason and

and changed a narrative here in Arizona State and those guys want to be

remembered as winners and players that again have a chance to play in the

postseason and so that's been kind of the change for me and then I think we're

pretty much set with guys in the program moving forward that we feel

great about both incoming recruits, transfers sitting out and young

players that we think will continue to get better

University of Hertfordshire Physiotherapy Graduate - Duration: 1:29.

In 2017 I graduated as a physiotherapist with a first class honours from the

University of Hertfordshire. I had physiotherapy from a young age. Ever

since I can remember I really wanted to be a physio, it was always my ambition.

After having major hip surgery at the age of two, and then been diagnosed with

juvenile arthritis at the age of seven, I was a frequent visitor to Ipswitch

Hospital physio department. When it came to choosing a university I wanted

somewhere with a good staff support system, a well structured course and the

physiotherapy team Hertfordshire really did offer that. They had an open-door

policy and they were always there to guide me through the tough times.

The course was well led and well structured and the placements are always well

integrated amongst the modules. The University of Hertfordshire was definitely the

university for me and I owe a lot to them because they helped me reach my

dream of becoming a physiotherapist. So now I'm treating the patients rather

than being the one that's treated.

Living Diversity and Inclusion at the Medical University of South Carolina - Duration: 3:13.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

As an institution, for us to function at our top,

it only comes through diversity of our workforce.

It comes through diversity of our students.

It comes from diversity of how we provide

what we do for the diverse patients

that we are responsible for.

So if we don't have a diverse and inclusive environment,

we're going to be less always than our best.

What's important now, and what's very different from where

we were five years ago, is not only do we listen,

we then take action on the things and people

tell us need to change in the organization.

We've achieved some very significant directives.

We've diversified our C-Suite so we have more leaders of color

and more women at the table in our C-Suite

than we've ever had at any point in history at MUSC Health.

The team is different.

The team is happier, more content.

And that's a great thing to see as well.

Everything that we do that not just makes people feel welcome

but that really celebrates the differences between us.

And how that adds to who we are as an institution is,

I think, critical to our future.

We're a medical university.

So when people come to the medical university

from the community, they should see the community.

We have students and visitors from all over the world.

We're truly on a global stage.

When you take care of patients, it's

best done with a more diverse team.

And that team has the best ideas,

is able to give the best care.

My best ideas have never come for me sitting in my room

by myself dreaming up things.

It comes from conversation.

It comes from different viewpoints.

It comes from different ideas.

Respect should be the first level of relationship.

When you respect the other, you see the humanity in the other

and you uphold that person and treat that person with dignity.

I do think that we have seen change the last few years.

I'm starting to see more and more opportunities

for individuals to go into a meeting

and see different cultures all represented within the room.

Even again the openness to talk about disability in terms

of diversity is different.

Speaking from the LGBTQ perspective,

we have residents and students who have come here

who have identified as LGBT.

We're taking actions to make sure that this is not just

a check in the box.

We take these values into heart.

And you've got to talk about it.

And then you've got to make sure everybody's talking about it

down through the organization.

Some people think that when you achieve a goal

or you achieve a metric around diversity and inclusion

that you've won.

Well, it's never over.

This work is never over.

But we strive continuously to make sure

that we're being best organization

that we can be in the moment at the time for our employees

and our patients and their families.

This is who we are.

We're about respect.

We're about inclusion.

There's no questions.

There's not hesitation.

It provides a solid foundation for us

to continue to move forward.

Grand Valley State University Faculty Awards Convocation 2017-2018 - Duration: 6:36.

Welcome, this is the 11th annual Faculty Awards Convocation.

We have a wonderful opportunity today to pause from the everyday.

Celebrate the achievements of one another and rejuvenate ourselves for the important

calling that brought us to this moment.

Higher education has been called into question over the last several years.

The label intellectual has become a disparaging term.

At the same time, scores of information have proliferated exponentially and the need for

clarity is ever more critical.

In this tumult, it is absolutely essential that we not forget why we are here.

Each and every one of us has chosen to pursue the path of knowledge and truth.

We cannot let this time in history create a sense of futility or hopelessness within

us.

Rather, we must draw on our community and remind ourselves that there is nothing closer

to the heart of humanity than this quest for knowledge and truth.

Let's take today to congratulate one another and our achievements, for the achievements

of one are of the achievements of and for us all.

Now, let's get into those celebrations and begin with our milestone awardees.

The first group of faculty we will recognize this afternoon are those who are celebrating

important milestone years in their careers at Grand Valley.

Will all those receiving the 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45-year awards please make your way to

the stage.

Let's congratulate all our milestone winners and thank them for the many contributions

they make to create the excellent university that is Grand Valley today.

Next in our program are the awards for excellence.

First is the group receiving the CSCE awards for scholarly and creative excellence.

I would like to ask Dr. Robert Smart Vice Provost for Research Administration and Executive

Director of the Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence to come forward to present these

awards.

We have two types of awards tonight and so we'll start with the mentoring awards and

then we'll go to the early career scholar awards.

Our tradition for this convocation has been to ask one of our faculty honorees to share

his or her perspective on some aspect of higher education.

I want to continue this tradition and would like to introduce todays speaker Dr. John

Constantelos.

My father delighted in teaching anyone, the etymology of words of Greek origin, including

my favorite, philoxenia.

The antonym of xenophobia.

It means friendship or love to strangers or foreigners.

I think of N, who told classmates that she chose GVSU, instead of a better-known university,

because our staff was extraordinarily helpful with a dreamer's admission process.

I was heartened to hear that and thought, that's exactly what we should all be doing.

So, I close, suggesting that internationalization, and love, should be embedded in everything

we do at GVSU.

I think that's exactly what my parents had in mind when they taught me, philoxenia.

And now it's time to present the awards for the Pew Awards for Excellence.

I would like to ask Dr. Christine Rener, Vice Provost for Instructional Development and

Innovation and Director of the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center, to join me to

present the awards.

Will the Pew honorees please join us on the stage?

I'm delighted to be joined onstage by 11 wonderful faculty and to present the Pew Awards for

Excellence in Teaching.

And now we'll present our last group of awards, the University Awards for Excellence in International

Work, Advising, Service, Scholarship and Teaching, as well as the Glenn Niemeyer Awards.

Our last awards this afternoon, are the Glenn A. Niemeyer Outstanding Faculty Awards.

The Niemeyer Awards are the most prestigious academic awards presented by the university.

These awards are named for Dr. Glenn Niemeyer who retired from Grand Valley in 2001 after

38 years of dedicated service.

He was a pioneer faculty member and then served as the institutions first Provost from 1980

to 2001.

Faculty selected for the award are honored for their excellence, enthusiasm, and loyalty

to teaching, scholarship and service.

This award recognizes individuals who excel in all three categories.

They have a superior student-centered approach to teaching, and they continuously develop

further excellence in the classroom that instills the love of learning in their students.

They create new knowledge and explore its applications through scholarly activity.

These faculty also contribute their expertise and service to the university, professional

organizations and the community.

I asked Provost if I could just say congratulations to all those that have served us, that have

been recognized for the core business of quality teaching and learning, and service, and scholarship.

And for the Provost in keeping this tradition alive and to our deans who are providing the

environment for these types of achievements to be realized.

Because at the end of the day, what we're doing here is we're representing a faculty,

and many staff members too, who are engaged in a teaching, and scholarship and service,

because we love the academy.

We love this university, and we love our students and we're going to challenge them so that

they can go out and be that internationalization expert as John so eloquently put forward to

us.

That was remarkable, John, I do appreciate that very, very much.

But I just wanted to, I'm not going to be able to join you at dinner, but I just wanted

to take a minute again to say thank you, congratulations, and for those that are here supporting those

that have received these recognitions, thank you for joining in this great celebration.

Thank you very much.

HI-SEAS crew enters habitat, Mission VI commences - Duration: 1:47.

(Natural sounds and arrival by van)

Kim Binsted: This is the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa's project.

So NASA funds the University of Hawai'i to run the HI-SEAS project and has done so

for six missions now.

Sukjin Han: Mission 6 is special in the sense that we are the first four-crew mission and

all international, so there are things that hasn't been studied in that respect.

Michaela Musilova: I think in the first few weeks and months we'll have to get used

to the fact that it's just going to be the four of us here with all the restricted conditions

we'll be living in whether food, the lack of proper communication with Earth and having

to deal with all various problems that are going to occur just by ourselves.

Kim Binsted: If we are going to go to Mars or other destinations in the solar system,

we have to make sure that we are prepared.

That we have the right people and the right equipment and we put them together in a way

that's going to get people there and back again safely.

Calum Hervieu: It's a chance to do science in a completely different way.

It's a chance to experience analogs and bring that back to Europe as well, where I'm from.

Lisa Stojanovski: I think what I'm really excited about for this mission is the ability

to bring everyone else along for the journey with us.

So I'm hoping to do lots and lots of education and outreach and get community involved about

this mission and why space exploration and Mars exploration is so important.

Sukjin Han: I thought that it will be an interesting experience for myself, on top of  the fact

that I'll be contributing, even though it's a small contribution, to human space exploration.

Day 48: University Punishes Sexual Offenders - Duration: 0:56.

Hey guys! And welcome to Goodness!

Today's Goodness is about the University of Pennsylvania

revoking Steve Wynn and Bill Cosby's honorary degrees!

Wynn and Cosby, both graduates of the University,

were very powerful, rich men

in both of their respective industries,

who have both been accused of sexual abuse

over the past decades.

Just because you deny it,

doesn't mean it didn't happen!

And your power won't protect you anymore!

Well, I'm sure the lawyers will take care of that!

But meanwhile, the University of Pennsylvania

has decided to remove Wynn's name

from the Commons he donated,

remove his name from his scholarship fund,

and revoke his honorary degree!

They're revoking Cosby's honorary degree as well!

So thank you to the University of Pennsylvania!

For doing the right thing!

And that's today's Goodness!

See you tomorrow!

Unique opportunity at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi - Duration: 1:36.

Hello, my name is Tran.

I'm currently studying MBA at Texas A&M University.

I really love this university because it is located in the seaside and we have more time

to relax after school.

We have a lot of fun here about the environment.

I currently work at the library, checking in and checking out the books.

It helped me make friends with a lot of students at the university, I help them and I have a

chance to practice my English here.

Before I came here, my English was really bad.

I couldn't speak a word but when I came here the teachers helped me a lot and I found that

the more I practice the more I improve my English skills.

Since I came to the university I realized that everybody are willing to teach you as

long as you want to.

Besides the professors who help you 24/7, you can email or see them directly.

Or you can go to the counselling center where everybody helps you, not just with studies

but also with your problems.

Everybody is so helpful!

Resume Tips by Career Services, Tarleton State University - Duration: 16:35.

Hello, my name is Alana Hefner and I'm the Director of Career Services for

Tarleton State University.

It is my pleasure to talk to you today about a few tips on making your resume

perform for you.

Not all tips and tricks will be listed on the slides.

Many items will be verbally communicated through this presentation.

Please contact Career Services for

a deeper dive into making your resume competitive.

The feedback that is shared with you today,

has been collected from employers and recruiters in the field over the years,

as well as through the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

We encourage you to have your resume critiqued before sending it to

an employer.

No matter who gives you the feedback, whether it's faculty, staff,

career services professionals employers, family, or friends.

At the end of the day your resume is your personal document.

You should make the final decision on which advice you choose to follow.

Most of the tips discussed today can be found in our Big Book of Resumes located

on our website and that's at www.tarleton.edu/careers.

You can also pick up a hard copy from your career services office on your respective

Tarleton State campus.

The purpose of the resume is to move you towards the interview.

Once the interview has been obtained the resume decreases in importance.

Creating one resume to send to 20 different employers

will decrease your chances of getting to the next step.

Tailoring your resume is key.

To tailor your resume you need to research the company to which you are applying.

Always dig into their website to gain a better understanding of their culture and

services that are being offered.

Tayloring your resume allows you, the applicant,

the connect with the position that you're applying for.

Think of how you stand out.

Skills you possess, experiences that you have had.

How are you different than your classmates obtaining the same degree?

Before we dive into tailoring, let's first review briefly,

the three basic styles of resumes.

This style lumps all experiences together

in reverse chronological order.

This style should be used for an applicant who has many years

of experience directly related to the position.

The functional style of resume is for

applicants who have less related experience in the field.

It allows you to put your experiences under themed groups such as communication,

leadership, etcetera.

And the last is the combination style resume.

It's a happy medium between the previous styles.

It blends the experiences and skills together.

Typically by including a summary of qualifications or

a summary of skills section in the upper portion of the document.

For visual examples of these styles,

please refer to the big book of resumes found on the career services website.

Now let's start looking at the constructs of the resume document.

The heading.

This is the one place of the document where you have

a little more freedom to be slightly creative.

Especially with your name.

Use bulky or

bold text anywhere from 18 to 28 font depending on the length of your name.

The rest of the text, including your address, email, and phone number

throughout the rest of the document needs to be at least a ten, 11, or 12 font.

No smaller than a ten, and no bigger than a 12.

Pay attention that your contact information is correct.

Your email address and outgoing voicemail needs to be appropriate.

The email address is especially important.

You wanna make sure that it includes your first and your last names so

that the reader.

And the receiver can understand who the email is from,

especially if you're going to inquire about a position that you have applied to.

Anything with arh76401@hotmail.com, while that

is an innocuous type of email address, it doesn't tell the reader who it is from.

Also sexyhotkitten@hotmail.com.

While cute and funny in seventh grade may not be appropriate for

a professional position.

The objective, there are two schools of thought regarding this section.

Should I or shouldn't I include an objective.

Well, most employers read the objective if it is a one liner.

This section is only used to tell the reader which position you

are applying for.

It is not a philosophical statement about the type of employee you wish to be, or

the type of employer you are seeking.

You can use the title,

area of interest, when you do not have a specific job posting.

Summary of skills.

it can be worded differently depending on your preference.

This section is close to the top of the document,

to signal to the reader to a quick overview of you, the applicant.

It's a preview of how you connect to their position in a Read Further for

More Information type of cue.

Here's an example of a solid Summary of Skills section.

Stay away from one or two word statements, such as self motivated or team player.

Include more detail explaining that you are self-motivated to accomplish goals and

meet deadlines.

Remember, the resume is built to move you into the next

phase of the application process.

The interview.

Make certain that you are able to provide solid examples of statements

that you have included on your resume.

For instance, if you do not have strong examples of times where you were self

motivated to accomplish goals and

meet deadlines, then do not include it on your resume because it sounds good.

The education section for most traditional college

This is the section that is driving the bus, if you will, and

therefore placed closer to the top of the resume.

For those of you who have worked for some time in the field and

came back to obtain your degree it may not be the leading section and

can often be put on the lower part of the document.

Typically high school is not listed.

It is assumed that you already have completed a GED or higher Diploma,

such as a high school diploma by virtue of attending a community college or

a university.

The highest degree should be listed first.

Be sure to spell out bachelor and avoid acronyms like BS for

obvious reasons, BBA, BSS, etc.

Employers are looking for attention to detail.

And this an area where you can demonstrate that skill.

as your GPA if it is a 3.0 or higher overall.

The degree is what connects you to the position that you are applying for

more than the school that you have attended.

Therefore always list your degree before the school.

Here is an example of how to display your education section.

The next section is the most important portion of your document and

it is the most difficult piece to develop.

This is where you should connect your experiences

to that which the employer is seeking.

It is important to include details, percentages, numbers, and

transferable skills that connect.

This is also the most difficult portion of the document as I stated before,

because an effective resume utilizes strong action verb statements to

articulate their abilities.

Spending time to conduct a little bit of brainstorming about strong action verbs

and your skills will help you make the most of this section.

We suggest that you take each position or role that you've held and

review strong action verbs associated with that function.

A list of strong action verbs has been provided for

you in the Big Book of Resumes found on our website.

You can also use any internet search engine to look at various lists of strong

action verbs associated with customer service, nursing, sales, communication.

Once you have the beginnings of your statements in writing,

such as helped with marketing, then you can dig in and reword

the statements into increased awareness or implemented marking strategies.

Can you see the difference in the statements?

Here is an example of how to lay out this section.

Components to include would be the job title, the company, city and

state of the experience.

And the month and year you began and ended the experiences.

Bullets are used to mark strong action verb statements.

Notice the use of the actual number 12 instead of spelling 12,

makes the eye focus on that statement quickly.

Also notice that we used past tense verbs since the experiences happened in the past

according to the dates listed.

If you are describing an experience that is currently ongoing

then you would use present tense to start your statements.

Types of experiences to include in your resume need to be related in some way to

Types of experiences to include in this section need to

be related in some way to the position that you are applying for.

Always look at experiences both paid and unpaid.

Do not fall for the myth that volunteer experiences are not resume worthy.

For instance, if you were involved in Big Brothers,

Big Sisters as a big and you are applying to be a volunteer coordinator

matching children with volunteers, then you have related experience.

You would articulate your experience as a big

on your resume in a related experience section.

If you are applying to be a sales associate at Fascinol,

your experiences with Big Brothers and Big Sisters would not be as significant and

therefore would drop to a volunteer, or an activity section without any description.

This is another example of how to tailor a resume specific for a position.

More examples can be found in The Big Book of Resumes located on the website.

Other categories to consider, either for the experiences section or

a completely new sections on your document,

would be related courses, scholarships, awards, certificates, licensures.

There's plenty of things to consider.

Quick note, scuba diving certification may be relevant if you are applying for

an offshore drilling company or position.

It would be less relevant and therefore not listed on your resume if you

are applying for the previously mentioned Big Brothers Big Sisters position.

It's all about perspective and relativity to the position.

Now that we have moved through the document at a pretty high level,

let's drill down to a few basics and overall aspects of the resume.

More traditional students will need to stick to a one page resume, but

there are a couple of exceptions.

If you are an interdisciplinary studies major through Tarleton State's Curriculum

and Instruction Department,

you have the ability to go onto two pages from your degree work alone.

Most other majors are encouraged to stick to one page.

Again there is a lot debate between faculty, employers, family and

friends on the ideal number of pages for a resume.

Ultimately, you have the final decision.

Let's talk about bullets for a minute.

Bullets on a resume.

Bullets should be used sparingly.

The resume is not intended to be developed in an outline format,

where every line is marked.

Bullets are strategic markers for strong action, verb statements.

The most strategic use of bullets are in the related experience section,

and the summary of qualifications sections only.

With that, refrain from using full sentences anywhere on the document.

Therefore you will avoid using I and you statements.

Be consistent with formatting.

If you abbreviate Texas with capital T,

capital X, then do that with states throughout the rest of the document.

Another instance is if you spell out your graduation month, May, and

you use a four digit number to convey the year, such as 2017,

then use this format for dates throughout.

Formatting is key.

Now, if you get nothing else from this workshop, please above all things and

for all the love of career services, do not use a template.

importantly can be easily identified by an employer who views hundreds of resumes.

You may think it's so much easier to let technology do it's eyeing,

but maybe you are communicating unintended message,

such as the lack of effort or low attention to detail.

Treat your resume as though it is the one and only grade that you are receiving for

an entire semester.

Proof read it more than once.

Ask others to review it, and

when I say that, I mean people with an interest in helping you succeed.

Such as faculty, career services professionals, staff on campus,

family and classmates.

However, steer clear of that buddy who is just stunned that the fact that you

wrote a resume and immediately asked to copy yours.

They may not use a critical eye for

feedback at the level at which you may need.

Let's transition to references portion of the resume.

Now that is not to say that this is page two, it is not.

Let me repeat, references are not page two to the resume.

It is a complete and separate document.

You will need to copy and

paste your header from your resume onto the references page.

To maintain consistency and formatting, because remember, formatting is key.

You should use the same font size and style as well throughout that document.

make sure that you first ask permission to use them as a reference.

The last thing you want, is to slap someone's name down,

as a reference without asking.

Then either one, they are not prepared to talk about you and

your abilities or two, they give you a bad reference.

For more information on how to select references,

please contact career services.

When listing your references in the document,

make sure that you have a few pieces of vital information.

Their name, current position, place of employment, phone and email.

There is no need to include their physical or their mailing address, typically,

as most reference checks come through email or by phone.

So let's take a moment to pull it all together and

look at a couple of resume samples.

Can you identify some of the pitfalls that we have already discussed?

Let's dissect it.

There are I statements if you're able to see that.

Poor grammar and typos.

There's an abbreviation for the degree.

They're getting a bus degree.

The GPA is below a 3.0 which is perfectly acceptable as an average student

cuz average students get jobs too.

However it's standard if it's above a 3.0.

That's the only time that you would list it on your resume.

There's inconsistencies with format.

For instance, if you look at Willa Lodge

it does not have skills associated with it, yet Tomco does.

Font sizes are different.

This applicant clearly used a template that forced them to enter text.

Into each section, therefore drawing attention to the fact that they are not

a word winning as indicated by the NA, meaning not applicable.

Not something you wanna advertise.

Chances are strong that if you are the employer you will not move this applicant

to the next phase.

Now this sample is a little bit more put together if you will,

bullets are used strategically to pull the eye through the document.

The document has balance it's a good use of bolding

not everything is bolded only certain aspects but it's consistent.

All information can be consumed by the reader in about four to five seconds,

which is the goal upon the first read from a recruiter's standpoint.
