>> Back in 2012,
so many US universities were going abroad,
they were creating campuses in conjunction with
other universities in other parts of the world.
And we said, I think
the big prize will come to
the university that goes in the opposite direction.
Let's make the University of Washington the first
university to bring a major university from
China to the United States and create something that
doesn't exist anywhere else in the country:
a genuinely joint campus.
We concluded quickly that the big prize would be if
we could go persuade
Tsinghua University to come to Seattle,
and we started to do that.
The vision for GIX is and always has
been to build a future model for higher education.
In the world of technology,
so much of the cutting edge work
is actually in companies.
So, the vision was to bring
some of those cutting edge projects and
needs out of companies and into GIX itself.
So, you have universities, you have students,
and you have companies all working together in a new way.
I think, GIX is fundamental to
the future of this region in so many ways.
First of all, it expands our higher education capacity.
It builds on what I regard as one of
the great crown jewels of
Puget Sound at the University of Washington,
it builds a bridge across the Pacific
between Puget Sound and Asia,
it builds stronger connections
between Puget Sound and British Columbia,
and it builds a bridge between
the higher education community and
the business community in
a manner that benefits students.
You put these three things together
and you see what a fundamental building block this
is for the future of our region.

« La force doit être du côté du droit ». Voilà la méthode pédagogique choisie par Jean-Michel Blanquer, le ministre de l'Éducation nationale, pour remettre de l'ordre aulycée Gallieni de Toulouse, où les professeurs se sentent impuissants devant la banalisation des violences.
Au micro d'Europe 1 ce mercredi, le ministre, a annoncé l'arrivée « d'un personnel de direction expérimenté sur le terrain », sans dire précisément si le proviseur de l'établissement était du même coup remplacé.
Depuis le début de la fronde des professeurs, début janvier, une équipe d'inspecteurs généraux a été envoyée sur place. Ils ont rendu leur rapport lundi.
Et ce dernier a « profondément scandalisé » Jean-Michel Blanquer. Le ministre reproche à l'équipe actuelle ne pas avoir assez systématiquement sanctionné les dérives de certains élèves.
Le lycée Gallieni de Toulouse accueille quelque 950 élèves, dont plusieurs dizaines sont considérées comme « ingérables » par le corps enseignant.
Les filles notamment, qui ne représentent que 10 % des effectifs dans cet établissement professionnel spécialisé dans la filière automobile, se font souvent dicter leur conduite par leurs « camarades ». Dautre.

We're taking the analog material that we have delivered from Lego Education to the activity
here in Excel.
What we are doing is that we are taking our measuring tool, the students will measure
the road system and they actually plan our, as you see here, we will have a distance going
so the students will know what the impact of transportation on an island, a closed ecosystem
is.

We never get tired of touting the fact that you can go from kindergarten to a
PhD without leaving the City but any university town can say that our point
of differentiation comes from the science technology engineering digital
arts and math or STEAM programs that are available in our schools thanks to our
proximity to local Fortune 500 tech oriented businesses and
the University of Texas at Dallas which calls Richardson home and has the fourth
largest computer science program in the nation. These powerhouses of innovation
create a unique environment for signature programs that give our kids
opportunities not available in most other places in the world.
Richardson is one of the top-ranked and most sought-after locations in the Metroplex
for access to a quality education. It starts with our schools operated by the
Richardson and Plano Independent School Districts serving different areas of the City
both are among the highest rated in the
State and Nation with 83% of RISD schools and 87% of Plano ISD schools
earning at least one academic distinction compared to 52% of schools across Texas.
Students in local classrooms have the opportunity to
participate in signatures STEAM focused programs like at Plano ISD's Academy High School.
In one of its projects this past year students created gaming
software that included a virtual reality flight simulator experience complete

work with our local colleges through Texas Workforce Commission grants used
to train students with skills needed by local industries.
This past year more than two million dollars in workforce training grants was awarded to Richland
College for the delivery and training programs that support Richardson based RealPage and Associa.
Richland College also works with local
primary and secondary school students to prepare them for the vital role that
college degree completion plays in brighter futures for them and their families.
In support of Richardson's Telecom Corridor legacy Richland Colleges
programs include a partnership with Girls Inc's summer camp geared to
encourage young women to pursue careers in robotics, digital arts and other STEAM based programs
Richland College also works with local schools in offering
dual credit courses which was expanded last year to include study abroad with
the first program for high school students being hosted in China.
Of course the University of Texas at Dallas is the crown jewel of Education in Richardson
and is the driver of North Texas' tech driven economy.
Dubbed the 'MIT of the Southwest' today's campus population now stands at
nearly 28,000 students 92 percent of whom are seeking degrees in engineering
science math or business. It's graduates create the next generation of
North Texas' innovative workforce providing a recurring source of talent for our areas research driven economy
Today UT Dallas' computer science department
is the fourth-largest in the US and second-largest for Master of Science degrees in computer science.
The University also ranks first in the
Nation for research among young Universities and was recently recognized
by Bloomberg for having better tech job placement than Stanford or Harvard.
Capitalizing on its role as a tech leader in the UT System UT Dallas is now
in the process of expanding joint biomedical engineering programs with the
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center one of the most highly recognized medical institutions in the world
Joint masters and PhD programs are in place
with the first graduates targeted to come out within the next three years.
The University of Texas at Dallas is also among the best values in Texas
US News and World Report's rankings of best colleges in the nation listed UT Dallas
as the second best value out of all public schools in Texas and the campus
was also one of only four public schools in Texas to make Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's best rankings for value
The University of Texas at Dallas
also made the cut in the Princeton reviews list of colleges that pay you back
saying the school is 'the best bang for your tuition buck'
