Auto news on Youtube Feb 18 2019

you're gonna capture more crises with your peripheral vision a lot of the

times then you will with direct so you can actually practice that skill with

identifying things that are happening in the room like right now I see Pierre on

his phone he's not being very attentive but that's okay like that preventative

type stuff down from like knowing less recursos and triggers but even if you're

not as familiar with the learner just little things like okay this this guy is

physically aggressive always have him walk in front of me feels like like

bigger than anything else there's at least if something happens you're not

getting blindsided from behind you're ready you can do some sort of crisis

intervention um it kind of reminds like a personal story there was a um a

relative of mine she actually did like one I want my calm have type work and

the learner was little older maybe like 15 16 years old but he was like like a

big guy like six for like and this particular person was just like a

regular sized girl and I I told I was like you know I'm not really comfortable

you would work into me the first place I go but he hasn't been aggressive in

years like he was aggressive like I think like five plus years ago I said

well you know still not comfortable you working with him like some like very

close to me but uh you know I tried to tell him I like do you know some

proactive stuff like always keep him in front of you or just look out for things

and for the most part like she always did but that one time he was behind her

is she's like locked him in the head this big dude you know which luckily it

was just like the one hit and that was it but at least you you know you'd be

ready for maybe to dodge it like right how the room was something like even

kids that elope like you're welcome down the street I was taught from day one

working with kids like and the community like they stay on the inside you when

you're walking on the sidewalk no matter what if the kid has a history of the low

point or not they stay and like it's just now just second nature I'm walking

with it killer disability on the sidewalk he always just goes on my left

the streets am i right someone said that you never should end this

on a bad note and that's something I always carried with me I love this even

home cases like if I was supposed to leave at 7 and I'm in its you know in a

crisis situation I will stay till 9 and I have just to

make sure that we end on that positive note to be like we're good and then

leave I love that I mean it's to which it's a good practice for a lot of

different things I mean I mean athletes do the same thing when it comes to on

practice I mean they're not gonna I mean my daughter had this like really jacked

up like messed up coach and he actually would like he would put them through a

lot of painful things emotionally and physically and hurt them and then right

when they were like crying or upset he'd be like like I'll go sit down and then

they started he started shaping up they're crying and and then they started

faking it just to get out of it that's how bad like he didn't understand the

behavioral consequences of being at first of all being and then like abusive

and then waiting until they had it like they were crying and then he would yell

out I'm having a go sedan which they would escape other girls were like

getting injured and I don't know they were always really injured they were

just tired of him being nasty but with with wrestling I would never in the

sports psychologists that were world-class sports like outdoors they

wouldn't let us end the practice until we drilled the move perfectly and I

don't know if all athletes were that way but as I mean West Virginia University

guy names it was dr. edit so the psychologists I mean these guys produced

more world champions from the riflery team and the football team that go pro

than any other psychologists around seeing sucker @xo and that was one of

his things it's like finish it strong and anyway I just I'm going all over but

I really think there's something to that and you not only did you kind of like

face your fears that individual or that learner next time saw he wasn't like I

got the best of her yeah he's like I don't know if I wanna do that again cuz

she's back

Week of February 17, 2019 Spiritual Self-Mastery Class ~ Ego and Heart with Sloane Rhodes - Duration: 16:22.

hi everyone hi subscribers it is Sloane Rhodes here with your spiritual self

mastery class ego and heart for the week of February 17th 2019

welcome i hope everyone had an interesting week last week today I'm gonna be drawing

from the magical unicorns Oracle card deck by Doreen Virtue

and as I do every week I'll get one card for the overarching energy for the week

and we'll look at how the ego my try to distract us and how we can drop into the

heart more and then one card for what we can expect or look forward to

regardless and I just wanna remind everyone that as I go through these

weekly readings and I I kind of try to identify how the ego might try to come

in its how it may try to come in remember that the the goal of these

classes is to help you identify your own ego

triggers and structures within so that you can more easily navigate the egoic

energies and drop into the heart more easily more quickly so that you can feel

more peaceful and more serene and experienced deeper levels of joy so it's

not about me giving you answers as you know to what the ego will do and what

your heart you know is meant to do it's about me sort of pointing out where it

may come in to help you more quickly identify it but your own experience of

the ego will be you know unique to you and your set of circumstances as well as

the ways in which you drop into the heart so something to think about and

just remember that you know we're looking at of course guidance for the

week but truly it's a it's a class to help you work with those energies in

ways that are unique and

relevant to your life in your experience summary this light is kind of bright on

me that's see me okay so let's go ahead and get started and as I say every week

these videos and all of my videos on YouTube are available on the audio

podcast so you can listen to them as well as watch them here and there's a

link below and I do have my online courses for how to read oracle cards and

tarot cards available at the Sloane Academy and there is a link below and so

if you're interested in learning how to read oracle cards there are some great

classes there it's also a class on crystals and spirituality so you may

want to check that out and the Advanced Course how to read Oracle tarot cards is

really very very helpful for helping you understand your own intuition and deepen

your connection to your intuition regardless of whether you use oracle

cards or not so something to think about there are some videos up that I am kind

of go through the classes so you can look and see if it's right for you

alright so the week of February 17th 2019

change the changes that you're going through our positive and practice and

love heals fear under the deck alright so here we are

change the changes that you're going through our positive and then what we

can expect to look forward to regardless is this idea of practice or practicing

the best way to be good at a skill is to practice practice practice until you get

it right it's certainly true when it comes to working with your ego and

dropping into the heart the more you can recognize when you are in a place where

the ego is trying to distract you the more quickly and easily you can drop

into the heart space so you can experience more peace and deeper levels

of joy more of the time okay so when we have love heals fear the power of your

loves can help bullies and anger people be less afraid

now that is certainly true but if you look at it in terms of this class in

particular when you're looking at the ego of the egoic energies I want to just

adjust this really quickly above this this idea of love heels sphere in terms

of a specific the practical is just what I like to draw you know bring it down to

the practical because with a lot of these concepts we understand in an

intellectual level at an intellectual level but bringing them into practice

identifying them in the day to day and the moments but you know we experience

in life can be trickier you know so in the terms of this card love heel sphere

what as I feel it what that is really kind of directing you towards is

whenever you are going through life sort of unconsciously um or having a moment

of unconscious behavior or exchanges when you connect with someone else who

is deeply unconscious it very quickly pulls you into various like a you know

and it pulls you into that level of unconsciousness too so it takes a a lot

of awareness and presence to be with someone who's deeply unconscious without

getting drawn into their energy so when you think of love heels fear yes that's

true but even on a more practical level it's about your awareness helps

disengage fear because when you are not meeting fear with fear there is no need

to react to somebody and so then they you are reflecting to them their own

peace their own love within self so it takes practice and especially with very

unconscious people very quickly you know the ego comes in and you are right with

them you are like you know so quickly angry you know and you're matching their

anger with anger or fear with fear fear is always you know behind anger so the

more that you can be present bringing your sense of presence to a situation or

an encounter with an individual I'll say in terms of an individual because you

know it's usually with other people that we we get triggered the most the more

that you can repress and remind yourself of your your

heart-centered energies remind yourself that you're safe secure and deeply loved

no matter what bring your presence the strength of your

soul to that experience with that encounter or that interaction the less

engaged you will become and the less the other in person will want to engage you

they have nothing to fight against it's like fighting against glass no it's like

there's no there's nothing satisfying about that it's just like this is so

smooth you know and that helps them to see their own peace and if we experience

a greater degree of even though it may be just a sand of serenity it does

provide them with an alternative you know and it's not so much about them but

it's about you not getting pulled into their energy on the field I hope that

makes sense all right so let's look at this idea of change the changes that

you're going through are positive well the ego doesn't like change the ego

likes to have Top Billing the ego likes to be the one in control and here you

are you know you are identifying the ego more you are recognizing how you can

drop into the heart more quickly and when you begin to do this change ripples

out right your external world as we see it begins to reflect more of the changes

that you're making internally and these are positive changes right but the ego

may come in very strongly whenever this change afoot and try to keep you in the

familiar patterning of fear anxiety conflict right and this can come in in a

variety of ways and it speaks to this idea I think is why it came in like this

you know love feels fear you may encounter individuals or circumstances

this week that want to that challenge you and your jobs let's

say your responsibilities throughout the week is to recognize that there is an

opportunity here to continue to deepen your connection to the positive changes

you're already making as opposed to getting sucked back in to the older

patterning many times when we're trying to make a change the egoic energies tend

to come up in order to I guess you know challenge not necessarily in a negative

way but just to help you deepen your connection to the changes you're wanting

so you know you may experience that this week or even you may experience a lot of

fear because suddenly you don't feel like you're the same person or you may

feel like everything looks a slightly different like your your world is

beginning to shift as your changes shift and that can be frightening to the inner

child to the ego and you may you know be like I don't think I want this anymore

because you're kind of like leaping let's say into the unknown in many ways

and you don't have that footing that that felt familiar and so fear can arise

very very quickly so you know be as conscious as you can you'll recognize

when even if you don't recognize how the ego is coming in you'll feel it you know

the you'll feel the fear begin to rise within you and you can see yeah yes and

you can turn and for me that's the way love the inner child I need I need to

feel safe I need to feel loved I need to you know feel whatever and so you can

you can turn to your own inner child and you can say yes right here

I'm not going anywhere I'm right here you're safe with me

or you can just and if that feels too much you can just recognize the the

inner child's I as I feel it and and and sort of personify it and you can just

turn as I hear you and you acknowledge the inner child even though as opposed

to feeling like that is you and you have to respond to that that fear arising or

the anger or rising sometimes it just suddenly you just feel you can feel it

you suddenly you're the one I feel I feel I feel something awful rising

within me anything okay I see you I hear you and you and you

move forward without identifying with it because as soon as you begin to identify

with the feeling then the corresponding thought structures thought forms begin

to match it and then not let you feel it within you but now your mind is taken

into the s you're in danger you're you know this person we need to relive and

rehash this situation or you know this person is awful and then you then you

hear off to the races you know so and then the heart center

energies around change or just to drop in and say yes you're safe I'm making

some changes it's it's uncomfortable to the mind into the ego of it

how amazing that I'm more aware of it look at the ways in which my world

external world is beginning to reflect the changes I'm making within and it's

not always comfortable it's not always my preference but how exciting that I'm

not aware of it now how exciting that I'm beginning to deepen my connection to

the truth of who are truly and so that I'm not being whipped around so much by

the changes that are occurring around me and it may be this week that the changes

that you're seeing are your preferences now for many of you they will be your

preferences and you can celebrate that and the ego will come in and say yes

look at this is better than it was before you know and you can say okay

calm down ego this is certainly more of what I love my

preferences but I don't feel this sense of jubilation because of the external

but I feel the sense of deepening joy and connection because of the internal

work I've been doing it's not outside in you come for the heart first inside out

and and then we have practice you know practice practice practice continue to

deepen your connection to the work continue to recognize when the ego comes

in more quickly or recognize more quickly where the ego comes in practice

drop it into the heart

this will include drop Mona maybe I don't know I haven't had any questions

about this but dropping into the heart is of course about self-love compassion

but also about deep presence without the judgement that something needs to change

externally in order for you to feel better safer more connected so presence

being present in the moment without the egoic overlay of this is good this is

bad I'm a victim somehow they're doing this to me

I need to work harder in order to change this it's just about being present at

the moment and again the moment is not just a small thing the moment is

everything that's occurring in the and then now let's say everything

the fullness of it all you know being present

that's dropping into the heart as well without so much trying to drop their

heart and I'm gonna drop into the heart now you know of course you can do that

too but when you're just present one of the

best ways for me to remind myself if I get caught up in the ego and I do so we

all do is to just drop into the present moment and for me it's like casting my

gaze around they'll just noticing everything that has been created in my

world you know wow that's pretty amazing color for me draws me instantly into the

presence I go as I mentioned a very tactile so I like to touch things you

know wow so soft I wonder if that sound your purse in cotton and just your

curiosity in fascination with the present moment helps distract you from

the ego X that's when the egos desire we're not even desire but the egoic

patterning of fear and anxiety and and something in the future and something in

the past you know but bringing yourself present by noticing you know the present

moment what's available to you and for some of us you know being tactile can be

helpful our senses gazing around noticing colour noticing beauty

listening to the stillness as opposed to listening to the sounds once you break

present and then you're then you're dropping to the heart without trying to

drop into the heart it's my point so it's a a practical way to practice it

without necessarily forcing yourself to and I've already covered the love heels

fear card okay so full disclosure this is the

second video I made about this because the first one did not record and I don't

remember all the cards but I did draw from this deck as well in the first card

that came up was everything's okay and I say this I guess for some of you with

who that message is floor because remember we have changed and when I

first did this reading I didn't record but I remember the first card that came

up around that you go in the heart was everything was okay so I I relay that to

you as well all right I wish you much love and I will see you either at your

private appointment or over on the podcast or the Sloan Academy or on the

next video much love to you all

Breast Self-Exam: Steps on How to Perform a Self-Exam Screening Tutorial - Duration: 8:04.

Ok, look…

I know what you're thinking…

where's my watch

k, I took it off when I was changing

and--

Oh…

Oh, these?

These are fake breasts.

See last month my mother said to me

"Ay, Stef..."

"you should do a video on self-exams"

"for the breast, ya know?"

and I said, "Ma!"

"Don't ever breasts in front of me again…"

"and stop always being right."

Since then... a friend told me she found a lump in her breast

doing a self-exam in the shower

and then Breast Cancer Awareness Month rolls around

So here I am

flashing the masses

to take you

through a Breast Self-Examination

you can do in the privacy of your own home

and not with thousands of people watching

like I'm about to.

First off:

If you're not familiar with your breasts by now…

Ya gotta be…

However old you are

start getting to know them now.

Otherwise you don't know if somethings new

or if it's been there since birth.

OK, I'm guilty of this too I'm so oblivious sometimes

my doc could be like

"You know you have a full-grown tail dragging behind you?"

and I'd be like...

"What color?"

These are important things to know

Because breast cancer kills more women around the world

than any other cancer out there.

I know people both personally and professionally

that have done an exam like this

and was able to follow up with their healthcare provider

and identify cancer early on, which may have or did

save their life.

So, start being your own hero here

and maybe save your own life.

Be sure to share this with friends, colleagues, loved ones, or anyone

and maybe save theirs…

How awesome is that?

Real quick let's cover some of the day to day things you can do

that are said to help lower your risk

of developing breast cancer.

Number one:

Be active, and eat healthy.

This will help you maintain a good weight.

That is very important.

Number two:

Drinks and stinks!

I mean alcohol and cigarettes ok.

We got a no-no going with those two.

They're toxins.

They're bad for your body.

And we're starting to care about our bodies

and the things we put into it, right?

Try to stay out of polluted areas

and avoid exposure to radiation unless it's necessary.

Then last, but not least…

is breastfeeding.

Go figure!

And not only are they thinking breastfeeding can help

prevent breast cancer…

The longer you breastfeed, the more you're getting out of it.

And on that topic

if you are breastfeeding you absolutely can do self-exams.

Your breasts are gonna be a lot different than before you got pregnant

and you may feel more lumps

that might come and go

that might be normal.

But if a lump is persistent it warrants further evaluation

so, if you have any concern during your self-exam

consult with your healthcare provider.

k so how often are we checking our breasts?

We check our outfits in the mirror every day…

We check the expiration dates on our milk…

Shoot the average American

is checking their phone

every 12 minutes.

Now granted... we do want to look good for our jobs.

We don't want stomach aches from sour milk.

And god-forbid we miss Kelly's Facebook memory

of taking a selfie from five years ago.... k?

I'm just playing Kelly.

It was a good selfie.

Duck-face was in back then, don't let them bring you down.

How often are we checking our breasts

honestly…

So if you're watching this on your phone

Great!

If not--

Put me on your phone

Prop me up against a mirror

so we can go through this together

and you can start doing these periodically

on your own.

Now to be clear

this self-examination is not a substitute for any other

diagnostic study or exam done by a trained professional.

but it's a start…

at the very least…

to get you familiar with your breasts.

Which is what we want to do.

If you're already having breast pain, nipple tenderness or discharge

with no other explanation

or any apparent changes you've noticed in your breasts

you should have an appointment with your healthcare provider scheduled already.

So if you don't

make one happen.

But again, this is a demonstration of a breast self-examination

based on my research from several credible sources

and compiled into a succinct and effective method

Let's begin.

You're gonna start by looking in the mirror with your arms down like so

look at your breasts thoroughly.

what you're looking for is irregularity,

and if you come across any during this exam

descriptively write them down.

This is for your healthcare provider

and for you to keep track of any changes

that might be occurring in the future.

and when I say irregularities

I don't mean you've got one inverted nipple and it's always been that way

what you're looking for is irregularities and inconsistencies

with how your breasts have always been

so when we examine them

we're looking for changes.

any new dimpling anywhere on the breast?

which might look like little dents.

New dimples on your breast?

Not good.

Mark it down.

Look at the texture and the pigmentation of the skin all around

turn to each side

anything look different?

now raise your hands over your head like you got two questions for me

ok one: where did I get the fake breasts?

and two: why am I so comfortable wearing them?

and the answers are simply Amazon, and…

I don't know I'm still trying to figure that one out myself…

Alright, if you have large enough breasts where you can't see underneath,

use your other hand to lift the breast up and examine the underside

front and side views

ok dimples, colors, texture

repeat for the opposite breast

now face the mirror again to get hands on

an option to use something like baby oil might help

in both seeing and feeling for irregularities

lots of women perform the self-exams in the shower

ok it's a convenient place

it's private

and that soapy water kind of acts like the oil would

it's also widely recommended to do

the hands-on part of the exam lying on your back

sometimes with a pillow

underneath your shoulder, to prop you up

because it'll make your breast flatter

and easier to feel for irregularities.

for the purpose of this demonstration I'm gonna remain standing…

and without oil!

it's not funny…

it's not--

but the instructions are the same in the shower

in front of the mirror, or lying down.

once again raise your arm above your head

and with the opposite hand

take three fingers together,

for a larger surface area than just one.

use the flat surface at the end of them

to press into the breast

starting at the bend of the arm

Pretty high up right?

well the breast tissue can extend all the way up to the armpit

and what we're gonna do is move up and down the breast

and in each area, use small circular motions

now in terms of pressure it's suggested

not too much... not too little

how vague is that?

we're gonna use a clearer and more thorough approach

first, we're gonna go gently…

then, with moderate pressure…

then finally deeper into the breast.

When we're done with that section we move on…

all the way up to the clavicle,

this bone right here.

now remember you do have a ribcage underneath these breasts

so keep that in mind as you may feel that

however if you feel any lumps or nodules, which can be firm

and feel kind of attached underneath

lots of people say they can feel like a pebble

or a bean, or kernel of corn

write it down

Also remember, the breast tissue

ain't like the silicone stuff I got on here

it's got its own feel which honestly can feel inconsistent

all throughout

so if you're moving along and you're thinking…

"wait a minute..."

"...think I feel something…"

Get into another position

and see if it's still there

A mass or a lump will likely still be palpable

as it was when you first noticed it

also note any swelling

especially in the area under the arm

where you got lymph nodes.

Swelling, hardening, or tenderness

should be reported to your healthcare provider.

Repeat until you've examined the entirety of the breast.

and then we're gonna do a once around the breast,

starting at the armpit, and rounding back underneath.

after that we're gonna press into, and around the nipple from different angles

noting any discharge, lumps, raised areas, or any other changes in the skin

Ok, some of this may be normal

but some of it may not.

So, it's important to clear it with your healthcare provider.

Once covered

repeat this process

on the other side.

and just like that…

baddabing baddaboobs!

We're done!

But, when should you be doing these exams

and how often should you be doing it?

Most sources suggest to check once a month

when you're least sensitive

which I'm told is typically one week out from the start of your menstrual cycle

But everyone's bodies different so I'll leave that up to you to figure out

and if you don't get your periods...

just pick a day every month.

and as far as remembering these self-exams…

ME: "Remind me to do a breast self-examination"

ME: "once every month."

BAE: "Ok"

BAE: "I've created a recurring reminder."

and that's how you're not gonna forget to do it.

But what about us fellas, ok?

We got breasts, too right?

We can even lactate ladies, did ya know that?

We got the tissue, milk ducts, and hormones for it at least.

But breast cancer wise…

A lot less likely than women…

and more than nine out of ten times

it's found at an early stage of breast cancer

It commonly presents as a hard mass

right below the areola

but as always just because you hear the words "less likely"

does not mean you don't have to bother, ok?

Everybody's body is different.

And we're all responsible for our own.

So, I don't care if someone tells you not to bother or worry about it,

advocate for yourself.

Because I wouldn't have some people still in my life,

if they didn't.

That's it for me today!

I'm knocking ou-

Clo-

Clocking out…

...they keep sagging on me.

10 Supremely Self Destructive Animals - Duration: 12:18.

Success among nature's diversity of species is usually about passing on your genes.

While most species try to avoid being eaten, are sure to eat and pursue the chance to reproduce,

sometimes these goals collide in unexpected ways.

Today, we discover 10 self-destructive animals that have embraced success or taken an unusual

approach to life through death, cannibalism, or just merging with the body of another.

10.

Brown Antechinus – Manic Mating Mortality

How many M's can you put in a sentence?

Well, try manic marathon mating marsupial mouse for starters.

The Brown Antechinus from Australia looks like a house mouse, but is actually a marsupial,

showcasing a remarkable case of convergent evolution in mammals.

But the animal's enormous testicular development represents the greatest surprise in the physiology

of this strange species as they grow to an incredible one quarter of the total body mass

of the male Brown Antechinus.

Form does not only follow function, function follows form.

Thus, having such a large percentage of the body devoted reproductive purposes, it is

not surprising that, forgetting work-life balance, there is little sex-life balance.

So little, in fact that the males pay for fecundity with individual mortality.

For with those huge gonads comes crazed sexual activity so frenetic that males forget and

forsake food to mate.

With a lack of food and extreme energy expenditure on mating, the males focus all their energy

on reproduction at the expense of their own survival, simply mating themselves to death.

But since the genetic information is passed along, pregnant females giving birth to large

litters ensures the survival of this apparently self-destructive species despite male sacrifice

9.

Honey bee – Stings for the Greater Good

Honey bees may be familiar and are also feared as potential deliverers of an extremely painful

sting.

Such a sting can even be life-threatening for the seriously allergic, but fortunately

most honey bee stings end in a deadly fate only for the stinging insect.

While delivering a most painful sting may aid bees significantly in colony defense,

it is devastating to the individual honey bee.

Harpoon or fishhook-like stingers plunge into the flesh of the target, but do not come out

of the unfortunate victim's body.

The force of a stinging honey bee's ensuing struggle once anchored into the target not

only tears out the bee's stinger but also rips free portions of the bee's digestive

tract.

With that damage comes loss of muscles and nerves, as well as portions of the honey bee's

abdomen.

After "escaping" without its stinger, the honey bee is badly wounded and has little

time left to survive.

After such a catastrophic injury, the bee's death soon follows.

Yet, by protecting the hive and the bee's relatives, a greater genetic group benefit

is achieved by the survival of the colony at the expense of the stingers.

A venom sack remains with the stinger left behind by the honey bee that continues to

deliver toxins.

The Exploding Ants of Borneo – Walking Insect Bomb

Explosive attacks may be the stuff of military-themed movies, but for certain hair trigger ants

in Borneo, blowing themselves to oblivion is exactly how they fight for the greater

goal of colony survival.

Living in the trees and trying to mind their own business, the explosive ant species Colobopsis

explodens is most appropriately named.

This particular species of ant is rare, as an exploding ant, but since they lack any

venom that can be injected or powerful mandibles to bite potential attackers, a markedly different

and individually costly way of protecting colonies and the species as a whole has developed.

The individual sacrifices of the grenade-like creatures are carried out in attacks where

the ants hitch onto a predator and then burst themselves open.

The bursting action, accomplished by forceful muscle action, delivers a splattering of yellow

goo that is toxic to the point of being fatal to predators and effective in discouraging

the predators from attacking their would-be prey.

It is worth noting that Colobopsis explodens does not take the self-destruct route casually

or without due care and preparation.

Rather than just blowing themselves up at first sight of a threat, the ants lift their

rears into the air as a warning that they are ready to blow themselves apart.

7.

Anglerfish – Overly Attached Boyfriend

Mating usually involves a physical interaction between two animals with reproduction in mind.

The means of sexual reproduction can vary, and so can the biology of the animals mating.

But for deep sea anglerfish, mating is something very different.

For these strange fish, mating is a time of complete loss of autonomy and physical identity

for the males.

Male deep-sea anglerfish are much smaller than females, which have a bioluminescent

lure known as an esca extending from their forehead to attract prey.

Finding a female through their senses of sight and smell, males track females and then bite

into her body, continually hanging on.

Gradually, his body tissues and bloodstream join with that of the female, allowing him

to gain nutrients from her body.

Once attached, the internal organs, eyes, fins, and teeth of the male are lost.

Having merged with the female and becoming absorbed into her system, the male eerily

sticks out from her body.

The male anglerfish becomes what is known as a "sexual parasite."

Over 160 species of deep sea anglerfish are known to patrol the world's oceans, but

studying them is hard due to their deep sea habitat.

But footage obtained 2,600 feet deep in the North Atlantic in 2016 showed a live male

anglerfish seen in the act of mating in only the third video recording of deep sea anglerfish

ever made.

Bedbugs – Traumatic Insemination

Bedbugs are horrible.

The creepy creatures rank as some of the worst small natural enemies of human beings with

an entire industry dedicated to their control and eradication.

But not only is the way that they sneak into dwellings and prey on humans as they sleep,

leaving ugly welts the next day distasteful.

These awful insects, which are indeed classified as true bugs in case you are wondering, have

an even more disturbing sex life.

Known as "traumatic insemination," bedbug reproduction consists, essentially, of the

male stabbing the female in her abdomen with his specially adapted stabbing reproductive

equipment, piercing her abdominal wall and delivering the ever so important sperm.

A most romantic encounter!

Because of the direct delivery of sperm into the female bedbug's body through traumatic

insemination, the female's reproductive tract is not part of the mating process.

Instead, female bedbugs simply lay eggs from their reproductive tract after traumatic insemination.

Before the female bedbugs finally lay the eggs, the sperm inserted through the abdominal

wound travels to the ovaries to fertilize the eggs.

Despite the damage and stress inherent in bedbug reproduction, it evidently works well

enough given the ongoing global battle waged against bedbugs.

5.

Painted Buntings – Deadly Duelers

Nature is filled with irony and the ranks of songbirds offer no exception.

One such irony is the love life of the Painted Bunting, a relative of finches, cardinals,

and grosbeaks.

Native to the South-central and Southeastern United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and

Central America, Painted Bunting males are among the most stunningly colored and patterned

small birds in existence.

Yet, the glorious appearance of these birds is sullied by a mating season lifestyle so

violent that is nothing short of hideous at times.

Eyes may be pecked out, wounds gouged beneath the feathers, and wings damaged badly.

For the mating season is defined by all out wars to defend 3-acre territories.

Among the bird wresting and bill stabbing, a number of males are left disfigured every

year or simply die in the bid to be the one best positioned to mate.

What a gamble!

Male Painted Buntings that survive the violent competition that precedes mating gain the

advantage of passing on the genes of a strong and successful rival that was able to hold

a territory.

The bright plumage may enhance reproductive appeal and help intimidate rivals, but the

color show also presents an increased risk of predation.

One of nature's trade-offs!

4.

Guppy – Offspring Hunter

Guppies are remarkable small tropical fish that are good aquarium pets.

Naturally having some color, the species has been selectively bred in a manner comparable

to some purebred dogs and goldfish to create all manner of stunning, fancy guppy varieties.

Despite their tiny size, they are also remarkable as they give birth to their young as live,

miniature fish.

While getting guppies to breed in the first place is much easier than other fish, keeping

the babies alive may be another matter all together.

This is not because the guppy fry are delicate, however.

Despite their prolific reproductive abilities, female guppies are notorious for giving birth

to a group of adorable and minute guppy fry only to then consume them in an act of parental

cannibalism.

The problem of guppy cannibal moms is so well established in the aquarist hobby that specialized

breeding pens to isolate the mother from the young are commonplace purchases in aquarium

shops.

When a female is about to give birth to young, she is placed into a compartment easily installed

in the main aquarium that holds her, while another compartment provides the baby guppies

with a shelter where they can take refuge from their hungry mom.

3.

Stegodyphus lineatus Spiders – Self-destructive Moms

Parenting may involve sacrifice, but the female Desert Spider Stegodyphus lineatus takes parenting

one gruesome step further.

While many animal species go to significant lengths to obtain food for their young and

care for them in a variety of important ways, the female Desert Spider goes much further.

In the breeding season, females produce higher quantities of enzymes.

Females catch more prey and then regurgitate the meals for their young.

After coughing up a slurry made from her victims, the mother, in the case of this fierce spider

species, then gives up the ghost, killed by the damaging effects of increased enzyme production.

Once dead, her own young can eat her.

The term for the offspring based on their dietary behavior is matriphagous, which is

the correct biological term meaning that the baby spiders eat their own mother.

Males measure just under half an inch, but fortunately for the hungry youngsters, females

are just a little larger at slightly over half an inch in length.

The Desert Spider is not large or threatening to humans.

This species inhabits warm scrub environments of Mediterranean Europe and desert and scrub

lands of Eurasia with a range extending all the way to Tajikistan.

2.

Brush-tailed Phascogale – Heartthrob Horrors

Australia is home to many remarkable animals, but little known are the adorable but fierce

Brush-tailed Phascogale, also rather amusingly known as "Wambengers."

The name phascogale means "pouched weasel" and refers to their status as marsupials and

their predatory nature.

Able to jump over 6 feet, the creatures eat birds, mammals, and insects.

But the reproductive life of these creatures is one where evolved mania, mating, and mortality

come together.

The males are dominated by the females when interacting with them but treat reproduction

as their final life goal, being exhausted in the process of going positively nuts in

their frantic pursuit of females.

The largest mammal in which the males die after mating, the Brush-tailed Phasogale is

a species whose males suffer hormonal chaos and organ breakdown that swiftly brings his

death soon after mating.

No males survive the mating process, which is described as the "absolute" end by

Australia's Parks and Wildlife principle research scientist Dr. Tony Friend.

While the Brush-tailed Phascogale is a type of marsupial, females lack a true pouch.

The animals are the size of a typical squirrel and nest in hollow trees for the most part,

selecting eucalyptus forests as their favored natural habitat.

When the phascogales are not busy mating, their brush-like tail serves as a defense

by distracting predators.

1.

Australian Redback Spider – Cannibalism and Underage Relationships (…Oh My)

Glossy, black and red, and resembling a Black Widow, the Australian Redback Spider is a

species with a secret to survival and a path of living that includes a rather horrendous

sex life.

Native to Australia and found all around the country, it is worth noting that this species

of spider has been benefited by human settlement, extending far beyond Western Australia to

inhabit a range of environments, particularly settled habitats.

Potentially deadly to humans because of its venomous bite, the Redback Spider preys on

insects and also other spiders, small mammals, and reptiles from time to time.

Males are less than half the size of females, and are often victims of what is somewhat

terrifyingly termed "sexual cannibalism."

Females devour males to gain protein as a reproductive advantage.

But being cannibalized is not the ideal fate for a male Redback Spider that might prefer

to mate and live to mate another day.

Because of the awful actions of females, males of this species that might otherwise get cannibalized

after mating may sometimes resort to an unusual strategy.

By mating with immature females, "shrewd" males of this species try to avoid getting

eaten in the heat of the moment while still passing on their genes in the long run.

Family Budget: Budgeting For Self Care and Budgeting For Fun - Duration: 8:50.

today we are talking the family budget and why budgeting for self-care and fun

is so important and why you should be doing it too. I am even gonna talk about

the splurges in our budget or what we consider to be splurges and if you have

followed us for a hot second ya know we have splurges... a lot of them. But not

really. Or a lot of people think we have a lot of them. We are all about

maintaining the happy positive outlook that we always have here in the Valencia

household to get through this debt free journey.

Okay, Mauricio will probably tell you I don't always have a positive happy

outlook... but I do on the inside... deep deep deep down

hey guys it's Wendy Valencia. Amy over a GoWithLess invited me to participate in

this collab and I am super excited to talk about all of the things we splurge on

and why fun and self-care are so important to have in your budget while

you're going through a debt free process. So if you want to check out amy's

channel and all the other participants down in the description box I'll link

them down below go click tell them I said hey and tell

them I sent you. So here's my take in fun and self-care while you're going through

the debt free cross us it is 100 percent okay as long as it's a reasonable amount

and as long as it's budgeted every time I am totally okay with having these

things in the budget if you plan for them especially if your journey is a

long one because you know what it's okay not to color your hair for like six

months if you're one of those people that need your hair colored or getting

your nails done or whatever your little thing is for six months nine months even

a year but when you're debt-free process is three years four years five years

taking absolutely everything out of the budget is too long too hard so as long

as you're planning for them and they aren't sucking a huge amount of money

away from your debt payoff there is nothing wrong with doing and if

you're one of those people that likes to do spontaneous fun I am totally cool

with like a fun budget line item that just says fun and a hundred dollars or

fifty dollars and it's just there so when you decide to do something

spontaneous you just go do it you don't have to worry about where the money's

coming from again it's totally okay as long as they're in your budget and

you're planning for them because a budget is meant to free you it is meant

to help you achieve your goals so set your priorities now if getting your hair

done under your nails done or having an audible subscription is not a priority

for you by all means take it out but if that

something that matters to you it's okay to keep it in I mean in our household we

always have $200 of what we call blow money which is money that's 100 and I

get a hundred and we can do anything we want with it during the month and then

we also have $100 a family fund money and I don't consider a blow money or

family fund money actually splurges I consider them necessities because we're

gonna spend the money so we might as well plan for it but our splurges are

splurges so let me go ahead and talk about some of those Christmas Christmas

is a splurge and Christmas is a splurge that freaks a lot of y'all out because

our Christmas budget is high and we know it's high but we like it that way and we

want it that way that's that's who makes us who we are so we plan for it we plan

for a whole year for Christmas we are putting away $300 every month so we can

have our amazing Christmas like we do every year and we're excited about it

and Christmas just is one of those things that we are always gonna splurge

on we like to give big gifts and we like the ability to give their gifts and the

years that we restricted ourselves it was not good for Mauricio and I in

morale I guess is the only way to say it it just it didn't do great things for us

so we have decided to keep that and if you want to see our Christmas budget I

did a whole video where I go over line by line every little thing we have in

our Christmas budget and I will link that down in the description box and up

in the eye in the sky and you can check that out

another splurge that I personally have in the budget is audible yes I know I

can rent books from the library and I have rented books from the library and I

do rent books from the library however I am a participant in a book club and we

always read like current books that have just come out and it is too hard for me

to get those books out of the library in time for book club and so I every single

time have bought the book on audible so I just went ahead

got an audible subscription for that another splurge I have is good makeup I

tried at the beginning of this whole debt free process to use drugstore

makeup it isn't good someday I swear I'm going to do a comparison video of like

drugstore makeup to regular makeup and I'll do like a half a face y'all can see

the difference especially over time because in 15 minutes drugstore makeup

is gone I have had no luck and I tried several brands so I just went back to my

regular makeup that I love that lasts for hours and I'm good with it

another big splurge we have in our budget is home chef so I pay like 119

dollars a week for home chef's to have meals delivered to my house for the

family of five and we love it it has made our lives so much easier

my dad can actually cook the meals because they're so easy to follow or I

can come home and cook them Molina has helped me even cooking them they're just

really easy to follow and they're good so that is a huge splurge for us and I

absolutely love it I as soon as we are back to our normal

budget home chef will be coming back because it just takes all of the stress

out of meal prepping it just makes my life so much easier and it is so worth

it to me there splurge we have in our budget is Spanish classes for our

daughter now you guys I know a lot of you think this isn't over the top

splurge I actually consider this almost a necessity because again as I've

explained a million times Melina refused to speak Spanish from ages four to six

no matter what we did she refused to speak to us we have finally found a

teacher that she will work with and will speak Spanish and she's speaking in full

sentences and we are never going back because Melina has to legitimately be

able to speak to her grandparents their Colombian they don't speak English and I

don't expect them to learn to speak English I am a fluent Spanish speaker

Marie she is a fluent Spanish speaker we do try and speak Spanish to Lina she's

getting better about responding and she's gay

more and more proud of speaking Spanish but it's it's taken a long time to get

her there so this Spanish teacher although very expensive is worth every

cent and if you saw our budget recap from January Mauricio's fantasy football

is an annual luxury I don't begrudge him that he doesn't really spend that much

on himself most of the time sometimes but not most that time so he loves

fantasy football and even though he sucks mammoths Lee at it yes Mauricio I

know you're watching and you suck at fantasy football you lose every year

it's okay I'm okay with paying it and then probably what I would consider the

biggest actual splurge is every once in a while I go out to dinner with my

girlfriends and it is so rare like every like four or five months I'll do this

but I really enjoy going it's a lot of fun so we do have some surges in the

budget but to me they are totally worth it and if you add up the percentages of

our splurges it's like less than 1% maybe 2 percent of our annual budget so

I'm totally cool with it so I'll see you in the next one

see ya route

Patrick Caddell, Self Taught Pollster Who Helped Carter to White House, Dies at 68 The New York Ti - Duration: 4:54.

Patrick Caddell, Self Taught Pollster Who Helped Carter to White House, Dies at 68 The New York Ti

Patrick Caddell, the political pollster who helped send an obscure peanut farmer named Jimmy Carter to the White House, later became disillusioned with fellow Democrats and finally veered to advise supporters of Donald J. Trump, died on Saturday in Charleston, S.C. He was 68.

His death, from complications of a stroke, was confirmed by a colleague, Prof. Kendra Stewart of the College of Charleston.

While Mr. Caddell was considered instrumental in Mr. Carters victory, he also shared the blame for limiting him to a single term. He helped persuade the president to deliver a speech that was intended to inspirit the nation during an energy crisis and economic slump, but instead tarred Mr. Carter as a weakling who was unable to lift the country out of its malaise.

Instead, in 1980 voters chose Ronald Reagan, a Republican who promised a rosier vision that he would describe during his successful re election campaign as morning again in America.

Ironically, Mr. Carter never mentioned the word malaise in his 1979 address to a nation fed up with endless lines at gas stations, inflation and joblessness. His solemn jeremiad bemoaning the crisis of the American spirit when human identity is no longer defined by what one does, but by what one owns was initially well received.

But it turned out that the crisis of confidence was in Mr. Carters ability to get the country going again.

In 1987, William Schneider, a political analyst with the American Enterprise Institute, called Mr. Caddell the living American with the most direct experience in presidential campaigns, except for one, Richard Nixon.

Patrick Hayward Caddell was born on May 19, 1950, in Rock Hill, S.C. His mother was Janie Burns Caddell. His father, Newton P. Caddell, was a Coast Guard chief warrant officer. Patrick grew up near various Coast Guard stations, spending most of his youth in Falmouth, Mass., and Jacksonville, Fla., where he attended parochial high school and also began taking his first public opinion surveys.

Math was not my favorite subject, he said, but at 16, for a mathematics project in his junior year, he fashioned a voter election model of the Jacksonville area for predicting elections based on early returns.

I set up at the courthouse and called all the elections early with great abandon, with no idea what I was doing, he said. And they all turned out right.

That was the extent of his formal academic training in public opinion research.

He was still an undergraduate at Harvard, where he earned a bachelors degree in political science in 1972 and started a thesis on the changing South, when he started polling professionally for Senator George S. McGoverns fledgling presidential primary operation.

McGovern lost in a landslide; Mr. Caddells political acumen and polling expertise, translating data into tactical strategy, were among the few creditable outcomes of the campaign.

He established his own firm, Cambridge Survey Research, to conduct political campaigns. Although he spun off another company, Cambridge Reports, to advise corporate clients, he was criticized for capitalizing on his Washington connections — representing, among other clients, nuclear energy companies and the Saudi Arabian government — especially when, during the Carter administration, he became known as the presidents pollster.

Campaign staffs are not known for sharing credit, but in June 1976, when Mr. Carter had secured the Democratic nomination, his campaign manager, , confidently told a reporter: You know why Jimmy Carter is going to be president? Because of Pat Caddell — its all because of Pat Caddell.

Mr. Jordan said that in helping Mr. Carter defeat Gov. George C. Wallace of Alabama in the Florida primary, Mr. Caddell had reaffirmed the campaigns overall strategy but had also pinpointed where to concentrate its resources.

Before Mr. Carter was inaugurated in January 1977, Mr. Caddell advised him to stick to broad themes and issued a warning: Too many good people, he wrote in a 56 page memo, have been beaten because they tried to substitute substance for style.

By the late 1980s, Mr. Caddell had become disaffected with the Democratic Party, and appealing to alienated voters became a major element of the advice he delivered to candidates.

Scott Miller, a colleague who developed the political research site WeNeedSmith.com, said that many people would not miss his needling and nettling, but the fact is, political calm made Pat very uneasy.

That calm means that the cement of the status quo is hardening, that the inevitable corruption of power is taking deeper root, that incumbent complacency is turning overripe on the vine, Mr. Miller said in an email. This drew him to the change leaders: to George McGovern, to Jimmy Carter, to Gary Hart, to Steven Jobs, to Ross Perot and eventually to Donald Trump.

In 2016, he became a frequent commentator on Fox News and advised Stephen K. Bannon, who became President Trumps chief White House strategist, and Robert Mercer, a computer mogul and contributor to the Trump campaign.

Mr. Caddell, as a Harvard government major, understood that democracy and politics could sometimes conflict. He was quoted in The Permanent Campaign by Sidney Blumenthal as saying that Reagans tightly regulated contacts with the news media in his 1980 campaign set a model.

I would never be involved in another presidential campaign where the candidate was openly accessible to the press, Mr. Caddell said. As a campaign operative, this makes it easier for me. As an American citizen, I shudder to think what people like me would do. Its terrible for the country.

Mr. Caddell is survived by a daughter, Heidi Caddell Eichelberger; three grandchildren; a brother, Daniel; and a sister, Patricia Roberts.

Update | Patrick Caddell, Self Taught Pollster Who Helped Carter to White House, Dies at 68 The Ne
