hello hello welcome this is Sheri here and it's December which means it's the

25 days of Christmas so this is gonna be a very fun little holiday series that I

put together for us to stay connected and to stay grounded and I'm actually

coining the phrase marketing sophisticated to get you through your

holiday and to prepare you for 2019 so just because we go through the hustle

and bustle of the holidays and there's traveling and spending and cooking and

family we can still really have some key marketing principles that will propel us

into the new year so that we're really ready to go and ready to like level up

our game or business gain as solopreneurs and service based

professionals so I'm really happy I'm just trying this out here so this is the

25 days of Christmas and there's a cool logo we are going to go over some little

mini things before we get started in the content and if you catch this live say

jump in and talk about Christmas what it means for you um and really how I wanted

it's about family it's about faith it's about family and it's about giving and

today is all about the three missing selling mistakes that I'm seeing people

make over and over and I don't want that to happen to you because I want you to

thrive in your business and I want you to really grow and do the things that

are gonna get you to the next level get you more clients get you more impact

generating more revenue increasing your beads and increasing your visibility

resource so today 3 mistakes to avoid when selling your programs services or

products online and that's what we're gonna be doing so for this particular

lesson go ahead and if you want the actual notes for this go ahead and type

in cheat sheet at the bottom in the comments because you don't have to take

notes for any of these you're gonna be able to get resources but you need to

comment cheat sheet and I'll be able to give that to you directly so that you

can have the example that I'm going to share with you today um and I'd be able

to kind of give that to you so just comment cheat sheet when you get a

chance and I'll be able to do that so let's start with number one okay so let

me make sure I got everything covered we did

so three mistakes number one is the biggest mistake and I've seen this a lot

during the holidays is actually like people sharing offers before they make

any type of personal connection or build the relationship and I really do not

want that to be a like I don't want you guys to fall into that mistake I want

you to be able to make sure you're building your connections you're

building relationships you're really giving value you're being seen as the

authority and so I don't want you to do that I want to make sure that you're

doing that before you share an offer and if you share an offer too soon it's

going to kill the sale for you and I don't want that to happen to you I want

you make sure your marketing sophisticated um so what we need to do

is build those connections right make sure that we're building connections and

all of that amazing stuff we're just gonna share this out to a my

facebook group really quickly and and make sure that you're in there hashtag

marketing if you want to check out the group please feel free to jump in

hashtag market for clients you can do that in the search as well so number one

make sure you build those connections how can you do that well you can you

know give people a resource you know ask them you know what are some of the

things that you're kind of working through right now and then perhaps I

have a resource to be able to share that with you and then just leave it at that

for a while and then later on you can follow up with them all right so you

really want to get in the mindset of putting value up front and that's going

to help people see you and come back to you again because you're showing that

you can help them with something right so another way to build a connection and

build the relationship is to ask people instead of like what are they challenged

with or what are they working through you can ask them what their goals are

and that will help them you can activate what are your goals what do you want to

accomplish and from there maybe I know someone who can who would be able to use

your services right so you can ask them what they're working on what their goals

are and that will really help that connection as well and then you can

share what your goals are and perhaps they can refer people to you and it's

just an icebreaker when you're kind of meeting new people especially online or

in social media so you can either ask their challenge you can a circle and

just find ways to really like have a human to human connection you need to do

this before you share your offer and that is like the number one mistake that

I see people make they might come into a Facebook group and of course just to

drop a link to their offering um and then I also see those big threads where

I'm it's like okay share your promo day so it's probably hey Nene how are you

it's promo day and it's like I'm sure your offer and you know one that group

might not necessarily be your target audience and two you're sharing a link

before people really know like and trust you like we all know that people in

vests and those that they know like and trust so maybe for instance we met and

the group and stroke of a conversation I'm happy to have you here I love to

meet new people what they're doing and really connected people because even

just masterminding our brainstorming and messenger can really spark ideas for you

to grow right we are not an island we need each other to advance and grow so

it's really good to surround yourself with people who are about something have

their goals doing something really excited about something so personal

connections personal connections that's a big thing for 2019

hey everybody who's joining on a single well the number one thing was do not

give an offer before you build a connection or a relationship and I kind

of gave you two ideas of how you can begin those relationships okay let's

move on to number two now I'm gonna go into number two a little bit more deeply

so because I want you to understand marketing at its core at your service

based entrepreneur if you're a coach a consultant I know we have people who are

professional development coaches and my membership we have a math coach and a

Spanish coach and we've got travel agents what we want to do at the core of

what we do is we solve problems I read a book years ago called the millionaire in

mind and we had affirmations that we had to say in the book that prompted us and

the definition I think the guy's name was T Harv after I have to google it but

the definition that entrepreneur was a person that makes it solves a problem at

a profit solves a problem at a profit yes so Mimi says exactly we need to

support each other thank you and thanks for being here so thrilled that you're

here so and others on the group or my profile hello guys so um you want to

solve the problem now here is what I've seen and I'm gonna give you a real

example so that you know you don't just hear the theory you actually can hear

like the application behind it um if you say things like hey um do you want to

become an aspiring entrepreneur then you should hire me for this I can help you

do this like that's not good enough any more there's a lot of competition in the

service based industry there is a lot going on if we've got to cut through the

noise I'm going to tell you one way to cut through the noise and don't worry

this example is on the cheat sheet so if you do want that just type in teaching

and I will give that to you but here I was actually am in a workshop

like in a challenge I think maybe within the challenge with me this week and we

were all sharing so this is my start so we're all sharing our message we were

all sharing our promo post and we're kind of like seeing like we were you

know prompted to share our promo post and of course me I was going as a

marketing coach I was going in on helping people strengthen it and

critique it and I'm actually gonna tell share with you how I did one of them but

I one thing that we're missing is we're not going in on the pain enough now

don't worry you're not causing your person pain they already have the paint

they are already losing sleep over this paint all you are doing is presenting it

so that you could come in being the solution but you have to go on in on the

paint so that's the number two of mistake that we're making as

entrepreneurs we're not talking about the pain enough and I'm gonna give you a

real example that happened this week of like the before and after message when

you're just skipping over the pain and then you're like oh hire me instead of

like going in stay in with the paint for just a second when you're doing your

promotion post this could be a promotional email or on your landing

page okay so an either case you can use this technique and people are not doing

this because in for support for whatever reason so let me get to the example you

guys ready for this example okay let me make sure that I make sure I have all

the comments or whatever we need okay so this is this example is really going to

allow you to see it like the application of how to like sit with a pain for a

second so that you can do this more in your

business when it comes to marketing your business so let's see yeah they're real

so let's do it okay here's the example you guys ready for

this example I want to share with you this was a real example of a business

coach she was sharing her pitch post right so this is a promotional post for

selling her products for selling her services so she's a business coach and

she actually wrote this I'm not saying anything I'm just giving you the actual

post so let me read it to you really quick so here's her boats are you an

aspiring entrepreneur do you have a business idea but don't know where to

start allow me to be the catalyst for making

your dreams become a reality by providing the tools and strategies to

help you get started and set a firm foundation for your

business now how does that tie the one in the comments if you think that sounds

good type of one and I know we're in three different places type of one in

the comments if you out read it one more time

I really want us to like hang out here for a little bit this is what this

business coach wrote um as she was giving an example of her promo post here

at hey here's one more time are you an aspiring entrepreneur do you have a

business idea but don't know where to start

allow me to be the catalyst for making your dreams become a reality but by

providing the tools and strategies to help you skip start it and set a firm

foundation for your business type of one in the comments if you think that sounds

good I think it sounds good but I think we can become marketing sophisticated

and tighten it up I'm going to show us how to do okay and dude the principle

number two she's not doing the going in on the pain enough she's not really

talking about why it's a struggle if it's a struggle you guys people are

gonna invest and pay you money okay it needs to be a little bit of a pain

that's just the way marketing is there's a psychology part of marketing and I

just want to share it with you so she's not going in on the pain she's saying

are you an aspiring entrepreneur but you don't know where to start and then she

moves on we got to sit with it a little bit more so here I come along

on this post and I say okay let's make let's let's do this a little bit better

let's cut through the noise because you know why everybody says let me make your

dreams become a reality everybody says that that sounds pretty

generic right and I'm not trying to step on toes I just want to challenge us to

have a better message that's all have a better message be more specific and

going and sit on the pain a little bit this is how I did it you want to hear my

version so that's the version that we started with and then this is the better

version advice to taste up myself here's my virgin are you an aspiring no

sorry I'm sorry Laura you are an aspiring entrepreneur with a great deal

of potential but you can't seem to find your footing when it comes to finding

your ideal client it's been months since you shared your single offer and the

feelings of rejection from your last launch are lingering keeping you stuck

unexcited and in fear sound familiar you're not alone I was in your shoes

until I discovered XYZ and now I have these great results dot dot dot and my

clients they have great results dot dot like you're filling this in right I in

fact I'm so sure of this coat and then we talked about the results and then

Edie you can do it too I can get you there's these results too in fact I'm so

sure that that I have all this coolness and you name with the coolness of your

took the same message but I went in deeper on the pain right it's the pain

part so I talked about you know lingering feelings of rejection of fear

I talked about being your if your keep your being stuck like she needs to go a

little bit deeper and sit there because it's gonna grab people's attention you'd

be start with a pain and grab their attention and then you come in and when

you come in you know be super specific you know it's not about like you know

the what is it

helping their dreams come true and making their dreams are reality it's

more about like specifically how you're going to help them and you've got to be

like I'm doing this you gotta be specific now how can you be specific you

got to talk to that person before you make that claim so I invite you at some

point this month to actually have a conversation with your ideal client and

we just did this in a challenge to help you understand what their specific pains

are so that you can put that in your message the way I just did it and then

what they aspire to do what they want to do and their goals and you're gonna put

that in your messaging so your messaging is super simple because it comes

directly from the mouth of your target audience and I want you to be thinking

about going in on the pain a little bit more does that make sense guys that's

gonna help elevate your marketing so for your service based business and I can't

wait to hear about any other results that you guys have on that all right

guys I'm gonna move over to the third and final mistake that we make when

we're selling our services and our programs and a lot of it a lot of us

know this already but I've got to say it again you want to sell not the features

but the benefits so the biggest mistakes people are making they're talking about

their features are talking about the number of coaching sessions they're

talking about um all the worksheets that they have to fill out and all these like

how long the calls are gonna be or if you're a VA they're talking about all

the spreadsheets that they have and all the tools and the apps or if you're a

travel agent they're talking about the process too much listen guys people

don't invest in that stuff right I'm just here as a reminder for this

particular tip um stay away from the features and talk more about the

benefits the outcome the result so if you worked with me you'll no longer have

to have this problem but you'll have this solution you won't waste time doing

this because you'll save time you won't I'll save you money I'll give you a

higher status I'll give you more income whatever the benefit is that your target

audience wants just be talking about that a little bit more

so guys if you want to cheat cheat for this particular lesson again drop in

cheat sheets in a comment and I'll get that to you those are my three biggest

mistakes that I see service-based entrepreneurs make when it comes to

doing your pitch and you comes to doing you're sharing your offers so don't make

those three mistakes we'll recap one more time number one share your offer

too early before you build know like and trust factor not building that

connection and those relationships number two not really sharing the pain

you know just skipping over the pain go a little bit deeper and understand the

pain by just talking to them okay and number three really talking about the

benefits and the outcomes versus the features you can get into the features

later after they become a client of yours and then you can talk about the

actual details of what's entailed but talk about paint a picture and you know

I work with some travel agents paint the picture give me imagery language of what

it looks like if I'm a travel agent selling vacations like imagine imagine

sitting on the beach with a nice cool drink not stressing and your worries

being um you know not even no worries in the world imagine what it feels like

with a win you help them to see and paint a picture for the outcome not okay

you have to go to this gate at this hotel in this hotel and this driver in

her narrow it's the outcome right so if if you're a math coach then it's like

okay imagine what it's like to really feel validated that you really do get

these concepts like how was that how would that change your life and acts

actually ask them how it would change their life and use that in your

marketing so I hope these tips helped you guys I'm so excited so before I go I

want to let you know how these twenty-five days of Christmas are

working I'm gonna be doing these lives during the week just Monday through
