♫ This is that once-in-a-lifetime ♫

Hey guys! What's up?

It's Vanessa back on the collab channel.

That's what this is.

It's a collab channel.

So this week is self-care week.

Shout out to myself for

coming up with the theme.

This week is tech week for me.

I am doing a production of Grease

and I play a Rizzo in this production

and I am so exhausted

because I have been working the children's version of Grease for the

last month and a half.

I just haven't had enough time for myself

and I'm going to

take care of myself this week

so I'm not a whole mess

for shows this weekend.

So I'm gonna show you what I do

to prep myself for tech week.

So I have a list of things

I have to do today.

I um... need to wax my eyebrows,

I need to get my nails done, and

I need to wash my hair,

and I need to blow dry my hair.

I wax my own

eyebrows because

one, I don't trust people touching my eyebrows

because last time I had someone do my eyebrows they

ripped out the

edges of my eyebrows,

so now they're like, not there,

and I saw this video on YouTube of the

Insider channel and they bought this pearl wax thingy,

so I'm gonna be...

I bought it

and I've waxed my eyebrows for the last few months,

and like doing it, so...

We're gonna wax my eyebrows.

I don't even fucking know how I'm supposed to like,

explain when I do.

I'm just gonna do it, okay?

My eyebrows are like

really stupid

This one that I'm brushing right now

rounds out at the front and then it makes it look like I got sperm eyebrows

and it's not cute.

And then this one just looks stupid all the time.

Delicious.

I'm gonna go ahead and take a Popsicle stick

and we're gonna get a little bit of wax on it.

We're gonna apply that to the underside of my eyebrows.

One, two, three...

Stunning.

Oh, stunning.

Oh my god.

Oh!

With every Shapiro in Washington Heights

that burns.

Oh, don't drip onto my eyebrows please.

Me llamo Elder White.

Oh!

(laughs)

All right

that's how you do your eyebrows.

Alexa, turn the volume down a lot.

So my next thing on

my list is chiropractor, and then nails.

Okay, it's the next day.

I just took a shower

and I blew dried...

blow-dried?

Blew-dry?

Blown dry?

Whatever the fuck it is.

I used this thing

and I did it to this side of my face.

I have one more piece left to do,

then we're gonna do this side.

All right my hair's been blown out

and now it's in a high bun

because I'm waxing...

I'm not waxing my legs.

I'm Nair-ing my legs.

Hehehe.

I got Nair all over my legs.

Guess whose dumb ass forgot to close out the video?

Thank you guys so much for watching

I'm really sorry I didn't close out this video again

I'm a mess.

Um...

I don't have anything else to say.

Peace out, Girl Scout.

Cleaning Artemisia Gentileschi's 'Self Portrait' | National Gallery - Duration: 5:45.

Well you see the picture now after cleaning has begun; cleaning meaning the

reduction of the old discoloured, degraded varnishes.

We do that principally by using solvents of known properties

that work on the varnish and not the paint

and that's guided by our understanding of the technique and materials,

working together the Scientific department

but here the gains are already becoming apparent

from that cleaning process. I think the principal thing to consider

with old varnishes is they both turn quite yellow and they also have their

own kind of fine craquelure and they could become rather hazy films that don't

really saturate the colors. That is, you can't see the darker colors very well.

You're kind of looking at them through a sort of net curtain and you can see the

changes, brought by reducing these varnishes from the cleaning I've done

already, are very dramatic.

Here you can see where I've done some cleaning both

in this area and in this area and I think those two cleaning tests show you

the key features of degraded varnishes and the key improvements that we get

from reducing them. So, of course, most obviously you can see that where the

varnishes have been reduced, the overall tonality of the picture is much less

yellow. The fingers are emerging rather pink instead of this kind of sallow

color and I'm sure that will become more evident as we move across the picture

but I think the thing here that's most significant and really very rewarding is

to see the range from light to dark that she's used in her modeling of forms

which gives it that whole sculptural presence.

Now these old varnishes when they degrade they turn yellow

and they turn foggy and so where they're over the

darker tones, the darker tones become quite a bit lighter. You can see that

here where there's a sort of hazy presence.

Whereas down here, where I've started reducing the old varnishes,

you can see the darker colors are much darker and

their range from light to dark is much enhanced and I think that helps you

understand how she's laid out the folds and help you understand what's in front

of what. So, for example, this area of dark drapery with the varnish reduced used to

look very much like this and that's a huge difference I think and I think if

you start to project that kind of change that gain of volume across the whole of

the image then you can really appreciate what she's doing the way that I'm sure

we'll see the sleeve projecting from this shadowed void beneath or the

turn of the sleeve or this gauzy-like material disappearing into the dark

areas all those kinds of things that the modeling of the wheels that moves back

in space with a little glint of high light coming through: these things are

the kinds of features that are in the painting that we don't see very well now.

In a small way you can already see the glint of the metal here and the range

from light to dark in this area where the varnish has been

reduced relative to that where the whole thing is slightly suppressed by both the

hazy film and the overall yellowing of the surface.

These are the kind of things we'll be looking for

as a gain from the restoration, from the initial cleaning.

Right, well you can see from the cleaning that there's an emergence of what look

like, well they are in fact, damages that you can't see in the rest of the picture

and that's because what I'm doing is I remove the old varnishes as I'm also

addressing the old restorations.

Typically a picture like this, some four hundred years old,

has been restored many times and we are faced both with the

condition of the picture itself and its restoration history.

So old restorations using less stable materials

typically have discolored and often, due to a kind of earlier sensibility

about what was appropriate for restoration,

they're often more generously applied than we would do today so they're much larger

the damages and we're finding that as these old retouchings along this

canvas seam, an original seam in Artemisia's support, are removed

we find the losses much much smaller than the old restorations so I'm getting rid

of those as I work across and we're unveiling quite a lot of Artemisia's

paint which had been hidden.

Part of that, as work progresses, we also continue our scientific investigations

working with my colleagues in the Scientific department.

So, my colleagues David and Joanna have been taking some samples

from the paint surface, very minuscule samples to help us understand the layer

structure of the accumulation of old varnishes from these many restorations

that have probably occurred to aid me in getting the best possible

saturation when I come to put my final varnish on.

So, as I've said, you're just seeing the early stages of the cleaning

and we're very excited about what's coming out of that cleaning.

When you think about the range of colors

and the kind of emphatic modeling: the dark values,

the voids, the projections, the use of the fall of light, the different kind

of textures she's depicting, all that, we're quite confident, is going to be

greatly enhanced by our efforts as the cleaning progresses and it should be

very exciting to see it unfold

Self-Care: How to Feel Refreshed & Amazing 🌝 - Duration: 9:19.

Sometimes you get so busy that you forget to take care of yourself.

Or maybe you don't forget, but you just can't quite find the time to do so.

If you're honest with yourself, this means that you haven't made self care a priority.

If you want to treat yourself better, remember that self care is a practice.

By that, I mean it's not something you get right just once.

You have to keep at it and make it a routine part of your life,

so that self care becomes a lifestyle.

If you've been feeling tired and overworked lately,

here are some self care tips to help you feel refreshed and amazing.

Thanks so much to Pantene for sponsoring this video.

Here we go:

The first thing to do when you're feeling dull or tired is to hydrate.

Drink lots of water to feel refreshed and give your body what it needs.

You'll have more energy, better skin and health, if you just drink more water.

It's the most basic, the most important tip of them all,

especially in the summertime when it's hot and you're out more.

You're probably getting dehydrated quicker.

So always remember to have water by your side and drink it throughout the day.

When I'm not feeling my best, whether I'm feeling down or stressed out,

I know that moving and stretching my body will help me center myself

and get back into the rhythm of things.

Doing yoga or even light stretching at home will

encourage better circulation in your body and revitalize your energy.

You get both physical and mental benefits from this too,

like releasing tension, sleeping better, and feeling inner peace.

It might be difficult or uncomfortable getting started,

but trust me, you'll feel so amazing afterward.

I'm not always consistent with my yoga practice,

but I notice that when I am consistent, my mental health is amazing.

By the way, my favorite yoga pose is pigeon.

I love that stretch.

It's basically challenging enough, but feels so satisfying.

Let me know if you have a favorite yoga pose down below in the comments.

A simple, but always effective, way to refresh and feel better,

is to give yourself a nice shower or bath.

I don't wash my hair every day.

I usually wait three or more days between washes, so it does get pretty oily.

And dry shampoo and all that stuff does build up,

so when I do wash my hair, it feels amazing.

I've been using the new Pantene Charcoal Collections shampoo and conditioner.

The activated charcoal in the shampoo works by attracting impurities like a magnet.

It detoxes your hair and scalp while still being gentle.

Regular shampoos remove surface dirt, but activated charcoal will pull out even more.

The best part is that activated charcoal isn't going to leave the residue that some shampoos do,

so your hair will feel lighter and have more volume.

Activated charcoal may also relief dandruff, redness, oily and itchy scalp.

So if you have any of these issues, it is worth a try.

The Pantene charcoal system includes a blend of

pro-vitamin B5, activated charcoal, and antioxidants.

Both the shampoo and conditioner are completely free of

silicones, parabens, and dyes, which I love.

Right now, there's a special going on at Target:

Buy two Pantene Charcoal Collection products, and receive a $5 gift card.

You can learn more at the link down below.

After using the Pantene Charcoal System,

my hair feels so refreshed and clean, and I'm feeling brand new.

I don't know about you, but having great hair gives me such a boost in confidence.

When my hair is light, bouncy, and my bangs are just right, I'm feeling good.

But usually that lasts for like a day,

and then after I sleep or clip my bangs up, it just never looks the same.

That's my personal struggle, guys, keeping my bangs looking great.

Another way to feel amazing is to dress confidently.

I'm guilty of being lazy with how I dress sometimes,

but I realize that what you wear and how you present yourself really affects how you feel.

So try wearing something you feel confident and beautiful in.

It's not vain, it's self care, okay?

Wear what makes you feel good, because you deserve to feel good.

For example: I thought this yellow top was so cute,

but I haven't worn it out yet because it's a little bold

and I told myself I'd save it for the right occasion.

I know other people do that too, save an item they really like for a special occasion

and then end up never really wearing it, or wearing it maybe once or twice.

Well, think of it this way: Every day is a special occasion,

so you can show up for your day looking and feeling your best.

You don't have to wait for today to be that day.

So dress confidently, with makeup or without makeup.

It really doesn't matter, as long as it's what you feel best in.

Personally, I love wearing colorful eyeshadows lately.

I just love a good pop of color.

It's my way to have fun and be playful with how I express myself.

But if you feel great without anything, you do you.

You can also take time to unplug and connect with nature or the outside world.

There's something peaceful and nurturing about spending time outside.

You get to break out of your usual comfort zone

and you can see the world from a new perspective.

Perhaps you'll realize how small and insignificant your worries are

or how there's a world outside of your own.

I truly believe nature has the power to heal.

With the afternoon sunlight, the sounds of the trees rustling in the wind,

there's this indescribable feeling of calm and connectedness I get when stepping into nature.

Even spending ten minutes at the park will leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Remember that what you put into your body also contributes to how you feel,

so nourish your body by eating whole, plant-based foods like fruits and vegetables,

because those foods will make you feel light and energized.

It's better for your health, and you will glow from the inside out.

On the other hand, eating processed foods like junk food will make you feel heavy and slow.

You might want to emotionally eat when you're not feeling great,

but remember that that immediate satisfaction is just short-term

and you'll only feel worse afterward.

Another quick way to feel better is to listen to good music.

Music has the power to shape how you feel,

and you can actually design your mood by putting on the right music,

so choose your favorite uplifting song to jam to,

or a beautiful, relaxing song to put you at ease.

Whatever feeling you want, find a song or make a playlist to match.

You can also journal or meditate to clear your mind

and give yourself an internal refresh.

Release your thoughts and worries onto paper and find mindfulness in the moment.

I've been journaling at night more often,

and last night I had a mini breakthrough while journaling.

I realized that I don't have to stress over things that I stress over now.

I've basically created these boundaries for myself,

when in reality, they're all self-imposed illusions that,

in the bigger picture, don't really matter at all.

And I realized that, no matter what happens, I'll still be okay.

I'll be alive, and I'll figure things out.

So yeah, anyway I'll share more about that in a future video.

But journaling has been so therapeutic for me.

Another major way to feel refreshed is to reset your space.

Take time to tidy, organize, declutter, light a candle.

Do what you need to do to make your home feel peaceful and comfortable.

How your space looks affects how you feel.

So having a cluttered space will make you feel busy or anxious.

And having a clear space will make you feel like you have a clear, peaceful mind.

By the way, I recently made another video on my reset day routine.

So everything I do when I carve out a Sunday to reset my life.

So if you're interested in that, click on the card or look down below for the link.

Lastly, carve out time daily or at least weekly to relax in your own way.

Everybody's different, so the way that you like to relax

is different from the way that I like to relax.

Just ask yourself, "What is my favorite way to unwind and pamper myself?"

For me, it's putting on a face mask and reading a book.

For you, it might be watching your favorite show, calling a friend, playing with your pet.

It could really be anything.

Just take the time to enjoy your life as it is right now.

Stop worrying or stressing about anything outside of this present moment in front of you.

If you can really relax and sink into the present moment,

then you'll realize that all the worries, anything else, will just wash away.

So those are my tips for feeling refreshed and amazing.

Let me know what you thought of the video in the comments below.

I love you guys so much and I hope you have an amazing day

with these tips or with your own self care tips.

Just remember that self care is a practice.

It's something that we have to keep working on.

By the way, thank you guys so much for being so supportive and loving as a community.

I'm just so grateful to have you guys here.

I know this week, I had to focus on my own self care as well,

and whenever I do that, I'm just so blessed that you guys understand.

And we can all learn to take better care of ourselves together, so have a great day.

Bye!

11 Steps To Receive Guidance From Your Higher Self - Duration: 4:56.

11 Steps to Receive Guidance from Your Higher Self

Everyone on a spiritual journey is always looking for guidance.

The guidance for the next step to take, love relationships, work, manifests abundance and

above all suggestions for walking on easily constructed paths.

For this reason, many of us seek this guidance everywhere, but only externally.

we look for beings that have connections to the Archangels, spirits, ether realms to seek

advice, to read the transmitted data to see what happens with passion.

Your Higher self is the spirit part of you that is said to 'reside' in the Ether

(the non-physical realm).

It's your Divine spark.

This part of you helps you to keep on track with your life purpose and in touch with your

passion and joy.

If you're curious why, here are some useful tips to Receive Guidance from Your Higher

Self.

#1 - Empowerment.

People often treat themselves as if they're at the mercy of an outside force that controls

the course of our lives.

This is the 'normal' way to be and behave.

Living your Spirit means remembering that you are God energy or Source energy in a physical

body and the Creator of your world.

The power inside you to create your world is the same power that creates worlds.

You can utilize that power to create the world you want.

#2 - Intuition – talking to yourself.

You don't need to contact your Higher self as an entity outside of you – it is you!

And you don't need to get an intuitive reading in order to contact your Higher self (although

you can, if you're particularly alienated and don't know where you're headed or

what you want).

The wisdom is inside of you, if you will access it.

#3 - Listen to your desires.

Living from your Higher self means not sacrificing or ignoring those desires.

It also means listening to those desires on a daily basis.

#4 - Meditate and quiet your mind.

The quickest way to practice accessing your truest self is meditation.

It quietens the mind and the chatter which tells you who you are and what you can and

can't do and be and takes you straight to the quiet and calm which is your Higher self.

Start meditating by just focusing on your breath.

#5 - Healing.

You can just put out the intention to be as aligned as possible with your Higher self.

Putting out that intention will put you on a healing journey back towards who you are.

If you have the energy to be proactive, make it your work to clear away anything which

is not aligned with who you really are.

#6 - Be in the right frequency.

Since you want to receive this messages, you have to tune into the right frequency.

Our body is a receiver and transmitter of light, informations, and that is proven scientifically.

It works like a radio: to have a certain experience you have to be in a specific frequency, because

only on that frequency you can have that experience.

#7 - Set the right intention.

This is a fundamental step and yet is so simple.

You are a powerful creator being, your thoughts are always manifested into reality.

Therefore if you have a pure intention and focus YOU CAN receive any kind of guidance

and informations from the angelic realms.

#8 - Trust your intuition.

Intuition works in a different way if compared to the thinking mind; it's more fluid and

direct.

Can you recognize the truth when you see it?

When you feel it?

Of course you can!

But you keep doubting yourself because "what if it is not so," and you never live the truth

fully.

#9 - Do not look for the answer, let it come to you.

Be open, I can not stress this enough.

When you ask a question, do not look for the answer; it's just fake.

#10 - What you are looking for can not be found externally.

This could be the most crucial step.

Yes, "out there" there is a lot of help available but you will never find what you are looking

for.

#11 - Sweet dreams.

Sleep is a wonderful way to connect with your spirit guides.

Before you go to bed, ask your guides to come to you as you sleep.

Well, those are the 11 tips to receive guidance from your higher self.

Really cool information isn't it?

I hope you enjoy this short video, if you have something on your mind, please share

your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!
