Prince George, five and Princess Charlotte, three, refer to the Queen as "gan-gan" as they discover the joys of life
But George, the third-in-line to the throne who recently celebrated his fifth birthday, will be expected to bow to the Queen this year
Upon seeing the monarch, members of the royal family are expected to bow once when she arrives and again when she leaves
Royal historian Marlene Eilers Koenig told Hello! magazine: "Certainly by age five
The only person they will curtsy or bow to is the sovereign. A royal highness does not curtsy to another royal highness"
An insider close to the royal family told People that George has grown up fast and has lost interest in playing with his little sister
They told how the future king is starting to figure out his position in the world: "George is very independent now and not as interested in playing with Charlotte all the time
"They are close but George likes to go off and do this own thing." The insider also revealed that Charlotte "is growing up really fast
She is the one in charge." The cute royal siblings are making the most of their childhood – with reports claiming that they are spoilt when they stay with their other Grandmother, The Duchess' mum Carole Middleton
Carole, 63, often feeds George sweets and chips when he accompanies her to the family's party shop in Berkshire, called Party Pieces
And the siblings play at "being shopkeepers" during a typical day with Carole. And in keeping with the Duchess of Cambridge's wishes to give her children as normal an upbringing as possible, the pair were seen practicing bike-riding skills in Hyde Park last week – without stabilisers
Prince George's portrait was released in time for his birthday on July 22 and showing a beaming, happy little boy
The photo, released by his parents Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, shows a confident boy growing up
But there is one little detail that shows how the future king is just as like any other child - the last button on his shirt hasn't been done up
