Hello, my name is Becky and I'm a third year Learning Disability Nursing student at UEA.

I used to work with children with complex needs for about five years which

is where I grew my love and passion for working with people with learning disabilities

and I needed a new challenge.

As a learning disability nurse we get to work with a huge amount of people,

we don't just work with the people with learning disabilities, we work with their

families, with carers, we work within a large team of health professionals so

we'll work with doctors, with other nurses, work within mental health services,

work with different therapies, so physiotherapists, occupational therapists...

- there's kind of no limit really to who we work with because we want to make sure the

care that we provide is the best and so we want to make sure

everybody who needs to be involved is involved.

Year, they've been some quite a few exciting moments in the past three years

but I was lucky enough to be nominated for three different awards...

two I've won - one I'm waiting to hear - so fingers crossed!

The most memorable moment was definitely my elective placement...

I did a four-week trip in Ghana. I worked with some incredible people, met some amazing friends

and I worked with children, I worked in an orphanage, I worked with adults with mental health...

and got to work with a wide range of different professionals.

My favorite moment whilst I was out there was working with a young lad who had

disabilities who was in one of the orphanages. He hadn't spoken for a year

and he hadn't left the orphanage for a year. I went and got him a wheelchair and

I took him to the beach and he walked along the beach with me and he said thank you.

When I finish UEA, I've already been offered three jobs which is exciting...

I'm still looking because I know there's lots of other opportunities out there

but I guess I'm just looking for something that keeps pushing me, keeps challenging me

every day and just develops my skills and knowledge in learning disabilities.

People should do learning disability nursing because it's one of the most incredible careers.

Every day is different, there's never a dull moment...

I have loved every single moment of it, even the challenging times and the difficult times

are always absolutely outweighed by the lovely moments and the rewarding times.

You get to meet some incredible people and work with some fantastic people

and I totally wouldn't change it for the world.

Spalding University Athletic Fields Project - Duration: 4:02.

We are D-3 but these athletes still have the same passion and the same

competitiveness as any scholarship athlete you want to throw out there at them.

Spalding as a pay-as-you-go institution so if a student pays tuition I want that

money to go to education. We don't spend it on buying buildings or creating

playing fields, we've got to go out and raise that money and I'm and I'm proud

to do that.

It was about three years ago or so that Spalding University dared to

be bold - dared to dream that this seven and a half acres on the Ninth Street

corridor could become something other than a deserted, aging, concrete remnant

long abandoned. As you can see site preparation is well underway. Gone is the

old warehouse and the old smokestack that stood here for years. Again, long

abandoned. But it is now that we must continue the momentum - momentum that you

can help us create and achieve this great project.

Moving forward for the

University, I think the fields that we're trying to implement and develop are so so

important to our growth at the university and athletic program.

We're really proud of what we've been able to accomplish under Tori's leadership

because without her we would not be where we are today. We've got to get

these fields built. This is a true game- changer for Spalding University so

we've got to get this done and we've got to get people behind this. And I want to

thank all those that have been involved through the years that have helped us

get to this point.

You know one was just a great city I don't even think we

understand the impact this facility is gonna have on the city of Louisville and

the opportunities that it's gonna create for, not just for the university but

the greater Louisville community.

When we thought okay we're gonna put seven and a

half acres of green space along Ninth Street, people shuddered. And it's not - it

was not a pretty area that we we purchased; but if we could if we create

these fields and this greenery along Ninth Street, it'll change the

perception of that area and change the perception of Spalding and

our campus. But to meet the needs of the times that sort of rebranding our

neighborhood, changing the sense of downtown as a sort of urban, gritty

landscape into the landscape that has a mix of of green and environmentally

friendly spaces and the playing fields will just move us a little farther west.

For the many who have stepped forward individuals and organizations and

supported this project, thank you. But we must continue momentum, we need new folks

to step forward and help us create this tremendous project on the apron to

downtown.

This is a neighborhood where everyone comes together and we've

embraced that as part of our calling and the students we serve and so improving

the areas to the west improving the areas to the east but keeping that

unified center - a place where people have dignity and respect and can come and get

an education and make a difference in the broader community, that's what we're

about. And we need your help.

Tori is leading such a

tremendous institution. Let's get these fields built to put the

ice on the cake.

Adam Strange (Explained in a Minute) | COMIC BOOK UNIVERSITY - Duration: 2:24.

Hey, guys, Professor Bill of Comic Book University and I'm going to explain Adam Strange in about a minute.

Adam Strange's first appearance was in "Showcase #17" in November 1958 and he was created by Julius Schwartz and Murphy Anderson.

Adam Strange is an archaeologist who was on a dig in Peru when a strange beam of light whisked him to a planet called Rann.

Rann is a world that resides in the Alpha Centauri star system that was in the recovery process after a lengthy series of nuclear war.

During the ensuing healing process, a scientist named Sardath developed a "Zeta-beam" that the residents of whatever planet it was pointed at could trace the beam to its origin and deliver help.

What Sardath didn't calculate, though, was the way that the space radiation would alter the beam as, rather than just leave a beacon to be followed, it would actually transport its unintentional recipient instantly to Rann.

Adam Strange met Sardoth and sought to help Rann's populous using their own technology.

Unfortunately, the effects of the zeta-beam are also temporary, so Strange will be returned to Earth after an unspecified amount of time.

However, Sardath had fired the zeta-beam multiple time over the past four-and-a-half years it took for the ray that first hit Adam and he gave Adam the coordinates of every burst.

Now, every time Strange is returned to Earth, he waits out the time of the next zeta-beam and travels to that part of the world to catch a ride back to Rann

Strange employs an environmental suit that protects him from the rigors of space and from most conventional weaponry.

He wears a jet-pack that allows him to fly fast enough that he can attain escape velocity.

He employs "hard light" technology that can solidify into a variety of weaponry.

He also carries a ray gun for when negotiations become hostile.

Adam Strange had lost his eyes in combat and Sardath cloned new eyes for him which he altered to allow Strange to see into the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

The source DNA for these new eyes came from Stranges daughter, Aleea, who is also the grand-daughter of Sardath, as Strange married Sardath's daughter, Alanna.

Strange is a man of two worlds in every sense of the word and longs for the day that the zeta-beam can be calibrated to bring him to Rann permanently.

University of Iowa graduate Anna Patty reflects on study abroad experience in Costa Rica - Duration: 0:37.

That year was by far the most valuable year in my academic career.

Because the things I learned by being in a different environment from what I had grown

up in, being outside of my comfort zone, learning another culture, living with a family,

really just engulfing myself into the Tican culture is what has made me who I am today.

Alexander Cooley (Columbia University) on the concept of "Greater Eurasia" - Duration: 5:51.

Today my presentation focused upon this new concept of Greater Eurasia.

What is this Greater Eurasia concept? So the concept itself reflects I think

Russian thinking that the Chinese rise in Eurasia is now so formidable that it

needs to be accommodated. wWhat I see now in the Greater Eurasia concept is an

acknowledgment that Russia doesn't feel as if it can actually interface with

China on equal footing and it's now acknowledging the Chinese investment,

Chinese proposals, Chinese infrastructure upgrades in Eurasia are now an essential

part of the economic landscape and it's presenting these Chinese initiatives as

if they are in Russian interest.

Second point driving this is that Russia's relations with the West

continue to remain tense. Russia continues to look for geopolitical and

geo-economic architectures that can position itself against NATO, the West,

the European Union, and an integrating Greater Eurasia is another way of doing

that. And then third: within this Greater Eurasia you have a number of non-Western

regional organizations: the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian E

Economic Union, the Belt and Road ,the Asian iInfrastructure Investment Bank. Russia

supports all of these regional organizations in its quest to establish

a non-western global governance to slowly change the international order

from being led by the United States in the West to what it calls a more

polycentric world. And many of these regional organizations can produce

connections and coordinate with each other - that's the third pillar of this.

There's I think a fundamental tension in the Greater Eurasia concept and that's

over the division of labor between Russia and China in the region. China's

role as an investor as a public goods provider is forcing it to confront

issues of political influence and political decisions that it wants in

terms of its largesse in the region. So two issues I talked about in my talk - one is

what are the likely political and social consequences of large-scale Chinese

backed infrastructure projects being introduced in the region. China hopes and

in some cases assumes that the more infrastructure you fund, the more

economic development that you have and that more economic development is good

for political stability. That might be true in certain cases at certain times

but what if introducing and funding large infrastructure projects instead

brings distributional conflicts? What if it encourages elite rent-seeking?

What if it exacerbates existing ethnic conflicts and regional tensions over who

gets access and why? So these are the issues China faces when it comes to

funding highways, railways, pipelines, power grids... How is it going to handle

these highly indebted countries when they can't repay Chinese loans?

What's the Chinese position going to be? Are they going to forgive the debt the

way that they did in Africa? Are they going to demand more equity, more shares

of say natural resources or natural gas or energy in exchange for these debt

payments? Because if it does that then it faces a political and social backlash in

a lot of these countries.

The final way I think this division of labor is being challenged is that far

from China, just doing economics China is now very much promoting its security

interests in the region. Traditionally it's done this through the

Shanghai Cooperation Organization and bilateral cooperation, mostly with the

internal security services of a lot of individual Central Asian countries, but

now we see China in negotiations for access and base-like arrangements with

neighboring countries. So there have been reports of negotiations with Afghanistan

for trying to set up a military facility or training center in the Wakhan

corridor. Reports that it is sponsoring and funding border outposts with

Tajikistan and then confirmations of a Chinese military facility, a naval

facility in the Pakistan port of Gwadar. So in this case relations with

Tajikistan, relations with Afghanistan, relations with Pakistan, you have

negotiations over Chinese military access in all three of these countries

and again this signifies a turn from what used to be a very low-key approach

to security to a more visible and active role for Chinese troops in the region.

I'm well, an international student at Bellevue University.

I've been here for five years.

So far, the professors in Bellevue University, yeah, they're really experienced, and uh,

they're also very kind.

They're willing to answer you any question in class, and after class.

We have lots of international students from different countries and we make friends if

we see each other.

Then we get a chance to know their culture, and uh, at the same time, we practice our

English every day.

Bellevue has treated us really well, all the employees are really, they really care about

our international students.

They are willing to answer you any questions. They have lots of different activities on

campus and off-campus.

We share our cultures to local people, and at the same time, we learn from them,

and uh, different cultures, religions.

I feel very lucky to be in Bellevue University, which helps me to success and become better.

My experience at Bellevue University is really good.

And I think my American dream has come true when I came here.

The professors are really good.

They have a lot of knowledge.

They give you the practical knowledge.

I'm currently staying in the student housing.

And the dorms are really good.

There are many things that you can actually use on the campus.

Those are the library, the Writing Center, the Tutoring Center.

Whenever you have a problem, like in writing or something, just go to the Writing Center

and they'll help you out.

If you have problems with math, just go to the Tutoring Center.

On the campus, you will have a lot of activities that are hosted by the Student Life, and it

happens like every term and it's really fun.

Especially the bowling night we have every Monday, every month, that's really fun, and

after that, the prizes that you get, those are really exciting.

I never thought that I would have friends from all across the world, now I have friends

from China, Mexico, Thailand, Nepal, US, of course, my American friends.

There are lots of occasions they celebrate, like, Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving,

and everything else in the campus.

And that's where you get to know the other cultures, which is a really good experience.

So far, for me, I think I have blended so well with the American culture, and it feels really

good to be a part of it.

And I'm proud to be at Bellevue University and be a part of the Bruin family.

I'm David Koff, a radiologist and I have been the chair of the Department of Radiology at

McMaster for the past 10 years.

I am also the chair of Canada Safe Imaging, an initiative we created in 2015 to address the

need to promote radiation safety for patients and health-care professionals in Canada.

Health care is a provincial responsibility, so we wanted to make sure that all Canadians

would benefit from the same level of safety from coast to coast.

And that they would find the same roles and strategies.

We wanted also to provide information to patients and health-care professionals and we've been

the first country in the world to implement a toll-free number that patients or health-care

professionals can call or contact through email to get the information they need for their care.

I'm really happy that I can be here and study in Bellevue University. It's kind

of a big family, I felt, and I think every professor and the staff here are

very kind to us. And also professors will dedicate themselves, their time and

I think everything is just perfect for us students. Every class is just set in a

very small size, so the professor can focus on each of us students, and we can

ask them what we want to know and they will just tell us everything they know.

I think Bellevue is very quiet and people just like, having a really comfort[able] and

peaceful life in here, and every atmosphere just lets you want to learn.

For our Chinese international students, the school will let us to go to many

kind of field trips and this can let us to put what we learn in the reality, and

let us know what the real business world looks like. And the school always

provides us many opportunit[ies] to help the locals or experience the local culture.

And this, I think, is a very good way to learn the local culture and learn more

about their life. Our school's Writing Center is very good and they always help

us to improve our English. I think either your English is not that good, but you

still can learn better in Bellevue University. In next year, June, I will

graduate. And I think what I learn from Bellevue University can let me be much

more successful in the real world. Also- it's kind of like a precious memory for

me.

Meet the Researchers: Debra Sheets, University of Victoria - Duration: 1:00.

My research focuses on caregivers, and particularly people with Alzheimer's

disease, and how we can improve the quality of their life. I have a project

in which we're launching an intergenerational choir for community-

dwelling older adults with Alzheimer's disease and family caregivers. The

purpose of this project is to promote social inclusion and also improve

quality of life. In particular, people with Alzheimer's disease often become

more socially isolated—we see friends dropping away—so the choir literally gives

people with Alzheimer's disease a voice in a different way, and a visibility

within the community to show that they can still contribute, participate, be part

of the broader world.
