Hello, my name is Becky and I'm a third year Learning Disability Nursing student at UEA.

I used to work with children with complex needs for about five years which

is where I grew my love and passion for working with people with learning disabilities

and I needed a new challenge.

As a learning disability nurse we get to work with a huge amount of people,

we don't just work with the people with learning disabilities, we work with their

families, with carers, we work within a large team of health professionals so

we'll work with doctors, with other nurses, work within mental health services,

work with different therapies, so physiotherapists, occupational therapists...

- there's kind of no limit really to who we work with because we want to make sure the

care that we provide is the best and so we want to make sure

everybody who needs to be involved is involved.

Year, they've been some quite a few exciting moments in the past three years

but I was lucky enough to be nominated for three different awards...

two I've won - one I'm waiting to hear - so fingers crossed!

The most memorable moment was definitely my elective placement...

I did a four-week trip in Ghana. I worked with some incredible people, met some amazing friends

and I worked with children, I worked in an orphanage, I worked with adults with mental health...

and got to work with a wide range of different professionals.

My favorite moment whilst I was out there was working with a young lad who had

disabilities who was in one of the orphanages. He hadn't spoken for a year

and he hadn't left the orphanage for a year. I went and got him a wheelchair and

I took him to the beach and he walked along the beach with me and he said thank you.

When I finish UEA, I've already been offered three jobs which is exciting...

I'm still looking because I know there's lots of other opportunities out there

but I guess I'm just looking for something that keeps pushing me, keeps challenging me

every day and just develops my skills and knowledge in learning disabilities.

People should do learning disability nursing because it's one of the most incredible careers.

Every day is different, there's never a dull moment...

I have loved every single moment of it, even the challenging times and the difficult times

are always absolutely outweighed by the lovely moments and the rewarding times.

You get to meet some incredible people and work with some fantastic people

and I totally wouldn't change it for the world.

you

The one who was so afraid to let everyone down that I cheated I

Act scary Mike

but most of the time

I'm terrified

Because

We weren't friends before

They're adults, I can't do this again. Just follow my lead

What's gonna happen to them

Yeah, buddy, we have to go

Harsh man. I'm sorry guys. You'd be in the scaring program right now

If it wasn't for us does and that's not the only piece of good news

Sherry, and I are engaged

Oh

Who's sherry?

She's my mom. This is so weird just think of me as your big brother

That's marrying your mother wait hold it we're brothers who share the same mom wife that ever meant

Don't let anyone tell you different

So

What no

You know for the first time in my life. I don't really have a plan you're the great Mike, Wazowski

You'll come up with something

so long so

Long

Stop the bus you made the deal with hardscrabble you took a hopeless team and made of champions all I did was catch a pig

And you think you're just what you are fearless and

If hardscrabble can't see that then if I can just what

That no one has ever done before

You surprised me

Perhaps I should keep an eye out for more surprises like you in my program

Keep surprising people

Imagine I bet we break the all-time record in our first year right we're male guys say scream

Fellas

Adam Strange (Explained in a Minute) | COMIC BOOK UNIVERSITY - Duration: 2:24.

Hey, guys, Professor Bill of Comic Book University and I'm going to explain Adam Strange in about a minute.

Adam Strange's first appearance was in "Showcase #17" in November 1958 and he was created by Julius Schwartz and Murphy Anderson.

Adam Strange is an archaeologist who was on a dig in Peru when a strange beam of light whisked him to a planet called Rann.

Rann is a world that resides in the Alpha Centauri star system that was in the recovery process after a lengthy series of nuclear war.

During the ensuing healing process, a scientist named Sardath developed a "Zeta-beam" that the residents of whatever planet it was pointed at could trace the beam to its origin and deliver help.

What Sardath didn't calculate, though, was the way that the space radiation would alter the beam as, rather than just leave a beacon to be followed, it would actually transport its unintentional recipient instantly to Rann.

Adam Strange met Sardoth and sought to help Rann's populous using their own technology.

Unfortunately, the effects of the zeta-beam are also temporary, so Strange will be returned to Earth after an unspecified amount of time.

However, Sardath had fired the zeta-beam multiple time over the past four-and-a-half years it took for the ray that first hit Adam and he gave Adam the coordinates of every burst.

Now, every time Strange is returned to Earth, he waits out the time of the next zeta-beam and travels to that part of the world to catch a ride back to Rann

Strange employs an environmental suit that protects him from the rigors of space and from most conventional weaponry.

He wears a jet-pack that allows him to fly fast enough that he can attain escape velocity.

He employs "hard light" technology that can solidify into a variety of weaponry.

He also carries a ray gun for when negotiations become hostile.

Adam Strange had lost his eyes in combat and Sardath cloned new eyes for him which he altered to allow Strange to see into the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

The source DNA for these new eyes came from Stranges daughter, Aleea, who is also the grand-daughter of Sardath, as Strange married Sardath's daughter, Alanna.

Strange is a man of two worlds in every sense of the word and longs for the day that the zeta-beam can be calibrated to bring him to Rann permanently.

And that's Adam Strange, in about a minute.

Alexander Cooley (Columbia University) on the concept of "Greater Eurasia" - Duration: 5:51.

Today my presentation focused upon this new concept of Greater Eurasia.

What is this Greater Eurasia concept? So the concept itself reflects I think

Russian thinking that the Chinese rise in Eurasia is now so formidable that it

needs to be accommodated. wWhat I see now in the Greater Eurasia concept is an

acknowledgment that Russia doesn't feel as if it can actually interface with

China on equal footing and it's now acknowledging the Chinese investment,

Chinese proposals, Chinese infrastructure upgrades in Eurasia are now an essential

part of the economic landscape and it's presenting these Chinese initiatives as

if they are in Russian interest.

Second point driving this is that Russia's relations with the West

continue to remain tense. Russia continues to look for geopolitical and

geo-economic architectures that can position itself against NATO, the West,

the European Union, and an integrating Greater Eurasia is another way of doing

that. And then third: within this Greater Eurasia you have a number of non-Western

regional organizations: the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian E

Economic Union, the Belt and Road ,the Asian iInfrastructure Investment Bank. Russia

supports all of these regional organizations in its quest to establish

a non-western global governance to slowly change the international order

from being led by the United States in the West to what it calls a more

polycentric world. And many of these regional organizations can produce

connections and coordinate with each other - that's the third pillar of this.

There's I think a fundamental tension in the Greater Eurasia concept and that's

over the division of labor between Russia and China in the region. China's

role as an investor as a public goods provider is forcing it to confront

issues of political influence and political decisions that it wants in

terms of its largesse in the region. So two issues I talked about in my talk - one is

what are the likely political and social consequences of large-scale Chinese

backed infrastructure projects being introduced in the region. China hopes and

in some cases assumes that the more infrastructure you fund, the more

economic development that you have and that more economic development is good

for political stability. That might be true in certain cases at certain times

but what if introducing and funding large infrastructure projects instead

brings distributional conflicts? What if it encourages elite rent-seeking?

What if it exacerbates existing ethnic conflicts and regional tensions over who

gets access and why? So these are the issues China faces when it comes to

funding highways, railways, pipelines, power grids... How is it going to handle

these highly indebted countries when they can't repay Chinese loans?

What's the Chinese position going to be? Are they going to forgive the debt the

way that they did in Africa? Are they going to demand more equity, more shares

of say natural resources or natural gas or energy in exchange for these debt

payments? Because if it does that then it faces a political and social backlash in

a lot of these countries.

The final way I think this division of labor is being challenged is that far

from China, just doing economics China is now very much promoting its security

interests in the region. Traditionally it's done this through the

Shanghai Cooperation Organization and bilateral cooperation, mostly with the

internal security services of a lot of individual Central Asian countries, but

now we see China in negotiations for access and base-like arrangements with

neighboring countries. So there have been reports of negotiations with Afghanistan

for trying to set up a military facility or training center in the Wakhan

corridor. Reports that it is sponsoring and funding border outposts with

Tajikistan and then confirmations of a Chinese military facility, a naval

facility in the Pakistan port of Gwadar. So in this case relations with

Tajikistan, relations with Afghanistan, relations with Pakistan, you have

negotiations over Chinese military access in all three of these countries

and again this signifies a turn from what used to be a very low-key approach

to security to a more visible and active role for Chinese troops in the region.

My most important public talk so far || Liverpool John Moores University - Duration: 13:27.

what you about to hear right now is my talk that I gave to students at the

Liverpool John Moores University just a few days ago it was it was talked with

lots of passion and that comes from experience and it comes from a deep care

of how those young people live their life and how you know we as

entrepreneurs sort of have some responsibility to show them the way and

perhaps you know push them in places so this talk was a hundred percent from my

heart it was it was you know few things that I said that make people think and

and few people also they don't acknowledge that by thanking me at the

end of that talk I'm sure you're gonna enjoy this one so there is me talking at

Liverpool John Moores University I wonder why always people go to the

very top and sit in the in the last row there's a lot nicer here I don't know

why anyhow my name is Michael hello and we'll talk for 15 minutes which is ultra

short about what I think and maybe you don't agree with some of it what we'll

see about that this is me in my best picture ever I

don't think that any picture ever taken of me is gonna be as good as this so I'm

going to stick to that wherever you're gonna go on mens finest website or any

of my stuff you're gonna see this picture so this is real this is picture

different okay first of all and yes I don't know about whether whether you can

compete with me and I'll tell you why because and I'm an immigrant I'm polish

and I arrived to UK in 2006 with no language skills I couldn't speak any

English I couldn't do anything but what I had is and I had this desire and

hunger that I want to do something with my life so

from washing pots and been serving and being a waiter to them sort of going to

the University graduating getting a proper job to then starting my own

business and I feel as if I'm just getting started so if you are for

instance sitting here in this lecture of thinking okay I you know you want to

start a business but you don't know what you want to do or you want to and do

something you've life but you know 100% sure what well I mean you've 20 what 21

22 23 and you you just have to start doing something so think about that that there

is a lot more people and there aren't more motivated than you are

and they're going to be ahead of you if you're not going to do anything and I

also think this which is awkward sitting here because if you have got it you've

got it if you haven't got it you haven't got it now there is nothing wrong with

being an entrepreneur in a business in a way that I don't know whether you follow

any of the of the sort of gurus marketing gurus that are popping around

but there's one guy called Gary Vaynerchuk and he says that number two

number five number 16 in Facebook earns a lot more than number one in any other

companies that you can think of meaning you don't have to be number one so don't

have to start your own business maybe you also could be as good as or even

better just being number two or number three and any other businesses and have

you ever started any businesses I mean if you have then this is a time to say

yes I have or I am or I'm thinking about one and what's your business has anyone

got any business ideas or running businesses or a business I can't believe

they're in room with 60 people there is not a single business

come on whose ideas come on ideas come on give me idea okay okay and how is

<Brewing a beer at home or small location>

that going where's that it's just an idea right now or is it okay and you

and you sell it? and it okay have you tried to sell it?

would you be sort of open to go to someone and say I brew this beer it's

local I made it and I'm the best literally and you know do you want to

buy one of me would that make sense to you if you do

<Yes but I am not the best>

that yeah but yeah that's marketing right okay

so um so how many beers are gonna sell next week how many bottle of beers how

many litres of beer do you think you can sell next week okay okay because this is

all about what what Dave was saying before as well it's all about money

right if you cannot make money you haven't got a business you know it's

it's a business I mean being in the business of giving things away it's a

tricky business you know I it's it's very hard to sustain that but if you I

bet if you go and ask your friend and that you just brewed the best beer ever

you know give me a quid for that I would give you one if you bring me right now

beer because I'm thirsty right so you know it's just opportunity of sort of

making sure that you go and speak to someone has someone is there ask them

the question because they most likely going to give you some money you've got

something that I haven't got I'm 35 I'm old I'm finished and so you've got

something that I haven't got which is this Dave were saying about this as well

about assets you know you haven't got money to start a business we've got

something I haven't got and and this is so valuable like if you come to me and

say I would like to do this few for free for money doesn't really matter but that

takes burden from me and puts you know something on your shoulder not on mine I

can focus on some and else like yes because you've got

this and I haven't got that so I need to manage my time very carefully because

you know I'm old Paula that you saw her before she's my assistant and quick

story about Paula she's very shy so I'll keep it brief and I managed to convince

her to quit University and to start working for me and the reason for that

is that and I think I can give her a lot more than university can and there's

nothing wrong with saying that at the university because you need to figure

out what you want to do and I mean look what she does all day she's just walking

around filming stuff and putting stuff on Instagram that's not a job is it

surely well it is actually because I need that because I need that for my

marketing I need that for intsa stories I need that for at for YouTube

channel forever as we do so if you've got that skill well of sudden you're not

working right are you working no no yes that's awkward

again and right so that's Paula's profile so she is all over Instagram and the

reason why I'm showing you this is that the way have found her was through

Instagram so I was searching and looking for an assistant and I come

across her profile through networks of friends and I said this is action nice

profile I like this so if you thinking of of running a business maybe you

should start with business of yourself so she promoted herself first she made

her profile looked so nice and so good that I thought well ok I think I

would like my profit to look like this and that brings me onto this very

important message which is you need to be an expert in something meaning and if

you'd come to me and say I'm doing the best insta stories because that's

Instagram is is hot right now and and I would like to do maybe 10 15 insta

stories for you and you let me know what's happening oh yes yes can you do

that for me and then you know I can pay for that if you good enough and there is

this literally from this morning we were figuring out this

called stories ants or whatever right and this app and I've been searching on

internet very quickly to see who can help me design best insta stories ever

and I couldn't find anyone who would advertise themselves as this story's ads

expert and I thought surely there must be someone younger than me in their

twenties who are on the phone all the time they would like to make some money

they would like to help the business they would like to get an access to me

and and would like to use this to create some stories for me like that it's just

no-brainer and another one another app that we

tested recently for the business was this lumen five or whatever again I was

searching for talent online to say okay who is an expert in lumen five I

couldn't find anyone I'm saying this is just there must be there must be someone

who wants my money like I want to give you my money to create some social media

videos for me so things like that this is the video

that video was created in like 20 minutes by me so I bet you can create

that video in five and how do I because that's let's get practical here because

if you haven't started a business maybe you can be better it's sort of posting

your skills this is site called upwork have you heard of that site have you

ever seen this this is this site where you post a job or post a skill so for

instance this is my three jobs that I'm searching for right now so what was web

researchers I was looking for another one was copywriter and only one was

graphic designer man where's my money I want to give that money to someone who

can who's got that little skills and I cannot find anyone back in if you are

very good at copywriting or you very good at web research you know you're

very good at graphics you're very good at video you're very good at audio

editing you're very good at anything maybe it's worth posting some stuff on

sites like upwork to to get noticed and also to be able to sort of talk to

businesses and help them and we can get those skills any of those skills there's

two places you should go to one is Lynda.com I don't nobody heard if you have

not heard you should leave and the other place is udemy.com there are two

places where you can actually learn skills so for instance if I'm looking

for graphic designer and you're into graphic design you go on udemy you're

good to Lynda and you sort of learn a skill either how to graphic design on

Adobe Illustrator or something like that you paid 12 quid for a course you sit

that course for two weeks it's online you've got a certificate at the end you

come to me and say I'm the best graphic designer in Liverpool I want to design

this for you yeah can I pay you now it's it's so simple it's so simple and there

are so many businesses actually or that need your help how many how many

butchers how many bakeries how many other people other businesses you know

that that are not online that are not present online that I haven't got any

marketing in place that you can help them with the newly acquired skill

if you want so and yeah being expert in something so that's me and so my name is

Michael and my company's called mens finest and we make luxury accessories

for men and also made to measure suits and shirts and things like that

and so yes if you've got any skill and you want to you know join the team be a

freelancer and you know work for free Paula actually started working from the

you know for free because you know I said like we need help we need this we

need that and she said that's fine let's just organize a project

let me just manage that project for you and and yeah and right now she's working

for me so and that's how you get a job good stuff hopefully does it make sense

to you maybe hmm okay I mean how come you not thinking or

you've super shy I don't know but how come you're not thinking about starting

your own business if you're doing this like this is a my mind the wrong room

we took it the wrong way like what's going on like you know what how come

you're not thinking about doing a business you have to start thinking

about this and now because you've got time when you're 35 you have not got time

good stuff thank you

My experience at Bellevue University is really good.

And I think my American dream has come true when I came here.

The professors are really good.

They have a lot of knowledge.

They give you the practical knowledge.

I'm currently staying in the student housing.

And the dorms are really good.

There are many things that you can actually use on the campus.

Those are the library, the Writing Center, the Tutoring Center.

Whenever you have a problem, like in writing or something, just go to the Writing Center

and they'll help you out.

If you have problems with math, just go to the Tutoring Center.

On the campus, you will have a lot of activities that are hosted by the Student Life, and it

happens like every term and it's really fun.

Especially the bowling night we have every Monday, every month, that's really fun, and

after that, the prizes that you get, those are really exciting.

I never thought that I would have friends from all across the world, now I have friends

from China, Mexico, Thailand, Nepal, US, of course, my American friends.

There are lots of occasions they celebrate, like, Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving,

and everything else in the campus.

And that's where you get to know the other cultures, which is a really good experience.

So far, for me, I think I have blended so well with the American culture, and it feels really

good to be a part of it.

And I'm proud to be at Bellevue University and be a part of the Bruin family.

McMaster University: Developing a Canadian strategy on radiation safety for medical imaging - Duration: 1:01.

I'm David Koff, a radiologist and I have been the chair of the Department of Radiology at

McMaster for the past 10 years.

I am also the chair of Canada Safe Imaging, an initiative we created in 2015 to address the

need to promote radiation safety for patients and health-care professionals in Canada.

Health care is a provincial responsibility, so we wanted to make sure that all Canadians

would benefit from the same level of safety from coast to coast.

And that they would find the same roles and strategies.

We wanted also to provide information to patients and health-care professionals and we've been

the first country in the world to implement a toll-free number that patients or health-care

professionals can call or contact through email to get the information they need for their care.

I'm really happy that I can be here and study in Bellevue University. It's kind

of a big family, I felt, and I think every professor and the staff here are

very kind to us. And also professors will dedicate themselves, their time and

their efforts. And I think Bellevue University is a very good place to learn.

I think everything is just perfect for us students. Every class is just set in a

very small size, so the professor can focus on each of us students, and we can

ask them what we want to know and they will just tell us everything they know.

I think Bellevue is very quiet and people just like, having a really comfort[able] and

peaceful life in here, and every atmosphere just lets you want to learn.

For our Chinese international students, the school will let us to go to many

kind of field trips and this can let us to put what we learn in the reality, and

let us know what the real business world looks like. And the school always

provides us many opportunit[ies] to help the locals or experience the local culture.

And this, I think, is a very good way to learn the local culture and learn more

about their life. Our school's Writing Center is very good and they always help

us to improve our English. I think either your English is not that good, but you

still can learn better in Bellevue University. In next year, June, I will

graduate. And I think what I learn from Bellevue University can let me be much

more successful in the real world. Also- it's kind of like a precious memory for

me.

Temple University Advertising Senior Showcase - Duration: 2:41.

[upbeat music playing] [Indistinguishable conversation]

Damien Reid: "This doesn't feel like a career fair, and that's why it's good.

It's just people, meeting one another, talking, with opportunity

in the air."

[music] [indistinguishable conversation]

Dana Saewitz: "Students spent the whole last year, their senior year, preparing for

this event.

They have beautiful portfolios, they've put an enormous amount of effort into it,

they're really proud of their work."

[music]

Bill Cook: "Our students are the best at

what they do, I believe, in the region and in the country.

I think that they themselves are all brands who are shining right now, they are smart,

they are digitally savvy, they are quick on their feet

and with their mind, they love to engage and to have

conversations with prospective employers, and so, rather than having them go to booths

of companies, I think it's important for these

decision-makers to come and see their brand."

[music]

Jess Baar: "It's a totally different experience

to have to pitch yourself, it's really good practice

for the real world."

James Yzkinan: "It's all like, really essential, like, this is what we're gonna

be doing our whole lives from now on."

[music]

Raina Alidjani: "I come here every year,

I meet students, and we invite them to our portfolio

events, and eventually I end up hiring a lot of students here, so it's a great program."

[music]

Carlyssa Pierre: "It's really different

to be on the other side of the table, because normally when

you go to networking events, you're walking around, talking to people."

Rebecca Dierolf: "I mean you get to interview like a hundred people at one time, so that's

awesome!"

[music]

Julie Glazer: "Being a student and not having, you know, all this real world experience yet,

it's great to have people give me positive feedback

on what I've done so far."

Bill Cook: "We are an extremely diverse group of individuals that represent six fields

of study."

[music]

Lisa Tamborello: "I've met like three

people I would love to bring back to our office for an

extended interview."

Meet the Researchers: Debra Sheets, University of Victoria - Duration: 1:00.

My research focuses on caregivers, and particularly people with Alzheimer's

disease, and how we can improve the quality of their life. I have a project

in which we're launching an intergenerational choir for community-

dwelling older adults with Alzheimer's disease and family caregivers. The

purpose of this project is to promote social inclusion and also improve

quality of life. In particular, people with Alzheimer's disease often become

more socially isolated—we see friends dropping away—so the choir literally gives

people with Alzheimer's disease a voice in a different way, and a visibility

within the community to show that they can still contribute, participate, be part

of the broader world.
