(upbeat music)

- Our undergraduate program, what we have here

is a very small division one school

with an athletic training program that is

probably the smallest in the country

as far as being division one.

- Our professors and our preceptors really closely care

about us and they want to make sure

that we know what we're doing.

Since we go to a small school we

get that level of attention and

we get that level of care.

- The first or second week you're assigned to one

of the sports teams under a senior student and a preceptor.

(whistle blowing)

(athletes shouting)

- Usually what happens is at other schools you don't get

to see or even touch an athlete until you're a junior,

but at U of E we get to see that day one of freshman year,

which is, I think, pretty unique.

- Now this year having done all that

it really, you get used to the athletes quicker

and it definitely prepares you

like for me this year, just to know what they expect here.

It's a smoother transition, I think,

once you're in the program.

- An injury's an injury, but an injury at a

division one level is a little bit more stressful

when you're getting them ready for an Indiana University

or another big time school.

- Right now I'm taping Allana's ankle.

For me it's really important to have this hands on

experience that makes me feel more comfortable

as an AT, makes me understand what I'm doing.

- These are minor things but we're trying to

prevent them, so it's like prehab instead of rehab.

They'd rather tackle the issue before it becomes a problem.

- Even at a high school level they know that UE students

are the ones that are taking care of them,

whether it be the students, they trust us,

they've seen us come through, or the preceptors.

They know what they're gonna get

when you see them with a student.

They know that we're gonna know what we're doing.

We know how to interact with people.

We know how to hold ourselves to a professional standard.

(tape ripping)

- They come out everyday when we're here.

They work all the football games with us.

They help us get ready for practice

and get some really good experience with

injury evaluation and treatment.

This is kinda their first rotation where they're

really kinda learning to work on their own.

We're here to help guide them but they're really putting

their skills to use they've learned the last two years.

- Youth sports on the rise, with injuries on the rise,

there's definitely a need for

athletic trainers at every level.

It used to be only at the collegiate or professional levels,

but now it's almost unheard of to have a high school

that doesn't have athletic trainers.

The widespread different opportunities and performing arts

and the military and an industry we do see athletic

trainers out there as well.

The growth is there and that's why with different

rotations the students can see where they best fit in

or where they best enjoy their experience.

- Currently I am the only physical therapist

and one of five athletic trainers for WWE.

I'm based out of Orlando, Florida.

For me, I felt like, okay maybe I did go to a small school

and maybe it was a really tiny program,

but it was still division one sports

and it was still the hands on experience.

I had three years of hands on experience

by the time I got out of college

when someone else just had like a semester's worth.

For me that real life experience of

this is what you're gonna do when you're certified

and you're at a high school or a college

or a sports team on your own as the athletic trainer

these are the skills you're gonna need to have.

I felt really confident coming out of the program

knowing I've been doing this for three years.

I got this.

(upbeat music)

- We pride ourselves in the first time BOC pass rate.

Our pass rate is very high, 90 percent and above.

That goes forth with keeping the quality

of the student very high in our program as we come forward.

That freshman year is a competitive nature.

We keep the best students in our program

and they move through their sophomore,

junior, and senior year.

We also want to see that student have a job

when they walk across that stage,

and that's very important to us as well.

We do have a doctorate of physical therapy program.

We do have a new PA program, physician assistant.

We also have a physical therapy assistant program.

Which, combined with athletic training,

makes them very marketable in the job field.

- It's fantastic.

Small class sizes.

Very hands on.

Great community.

Beautiful campus.

It was an awesome experience.

[Blind date] ep.3 When Song Joong Ki of Chung-Ang University meets a younger lady - Duration: 10:53.

When K-Drama 'Goblin' came out…

If I've got a time, I can go and visit everyday.

<When Song Joong Ki of Chung-Ang University meets a younger lady>

Q. This is your second blind-date. How do you feel? A. Since this is my first time,

[Suh-hyeon Jung, 24 Years Old, Unemployed Graduate] I would like to meet someone that could warm my heart through this winter.

[Hyo-yoon Nam, 25 Years Old, Undergraduate] A. I am a bit nervous.

Q. Who do you expect to meet this time? A. Because I was too nervous at last time,

I could not concentrate on the partner that much.

But then it means

that I was not that attracted to her. Hmm…

I would like to meet someone,

instead of making me think, 'What should I say?'

Making me comfortable enough to start the conversation.

Hello

Hello

He seems to have a nice voice

It was very deep.

I liked his voice.

First question is

Who is your celebrity look-alike?

If there is one, which part is most alike?

When K-Drama 'Goblin' came out,

people told me I and 'Lee El' (Korean Actress) look alike.

It was probably because I liked red lipstick.

That lip color makes me look alike with 'Lee El' (Korean Actress).

…'Lee El' look alke?

At first time, I mentioned 'Suzy'

As a look alike that I used to be hearing.

Because I could not think of anyone else.

But for this second time, I had decided to mention whom I really look alike.

It seems a bit distant from

what I was looking for in style.

What is the most important quality you look for in men

and the reason for that?

I see how I could talk to the guy,

Because if I cannot even talk to the guy, it cannot be happening.

I would like to meet someone whom I could really talk to.

I have mentioned that I do not want to meet someone

making me think, 'What should I say?'

So in that point, I felt the same with her.

How do your friends and family describe you?

Active? With humor?

My friends often tell me

that I am a good friend

but not a nice person to those who are not close to me.

But I could be with humor if I like this person.

I see.

He does not seem to be nice for everyone.

I feel that it only matters when one is being good for those who are close to him.

I become more attracted to him because I felt the same.

What is your life style pattern?

I do not sleep that much.

12 Hours sleeping? I cannot sleep all day long.

I am having insomnia these days.

so I tend to stay up late and get up early.

I also have insomnia

I do not sleep much also

I also get up early even if I have stayed up late last night

So if he were not an early bird,

I am afraid that I can't get in touch with him in the morning

Again this made me feel more attracted to him.

Which hobby would you like to try together?

If I were dating someone, I would like to visit

hot restaurants

I also want to take a picture together while visiting those restaurants

Those are the hobbies I would like to try together.

If I were dating someone, I also would like to

go and have good foods together.

That is one of my wishes.

If you were dating someone, which restaurant would you like to go together?

I would like to go to

this roof-top café in Itaewon.

I would like to go there with someone to have a good food in such nice place.

How many times per year would you travel together if you are dating someone?

If there is time,

I would go everyday.

Okay I see.

Do you like to drink?

If you do, do you prefer Soju or Beer?

Please tell me

I prefer Soju over beer.

I can drink up to a bottle.

For beer, 2 glasses of draft beer

are maximum.

That is an opposite of me.

I do not prefer Soju itself

because of its too strong smell.

I prefer So-mac (Soju-beer cocktail) or Beer only.

I honestly do not drink So-mac or beer but only Soju.

He is the opposite of me.

So I stepped out once because I like to drink

meaning that we would have to order not only Soju but also beer

Which kind of outfit do you prefer?

Occasion to occasion,

I prefer to wear what I would like to wear.

I take extra care on how I look because I am into stylish clothing.

But I prefer not to look too out there

and wear too bright colors.

I also prefer dark colored clothing.

He told me that he also does not prefer too bright colors.

I liked that point also.

When do you feel that you fall for someone?

First impression goes a long way.

I also think the way he similes is important.

I feel it when I see the way he smiles.

I feel the same way.

I also think that first impression is important.

So if the first impression is not so good,

it does not make a good person

no matter how many times I see that person again.

I think the same way.

I will ask the next question.

What do you think of girl friends and guy friends?

How far could you go with them?

I have a guy friend.

So I would like to respect him having a girl friend.

I think it is okay for him to have a meal and go for a coffee with her,

but drinking together is absolute No.

I get really jealous.

Of course I won't be like 'Do not see him.'

but I would be like 'I think it would be better if you do not see him.'

What would you do if boyfriend does that?

Uhm..

First I would hear him out.

so we wouldn't argue.

If she agrees with me just to stop the argument,

this will eventually become bigger argument later on.

I do not think she has thought this through when she mentioned it.

How many times do you prefer to get in touch with each other per day?

As long as it does not disturb one's life pattern,

I would try as many as I can.

Do you prefer to talk on the phone or

send text messages or Kakaotalk (SNS Messenger) ?

Uhm

I prefer calling over Kakaotalk.

What is your ideal level of attachment to the partner?

My ideal level of attachment is pretty high.

So I like someone whom I can lean on

and I tend to focus more on the partner than friends when dating.

I would mostly spend my time on work and the partner.

If I were dating someone, I mostly spend my time meeting my partner.

I always think of seeing her as top priority in my schedule.

Blind-Date Finished

Now it is a time to check each other out!

Hello

What should I say?

You do look like 'Lee El'

I do?

Yes you do.

Q. (During Blind-Date) How do you feel? When I only hear his voice,

I felt that he would be mannish, and much older.

But as soon as I saw his face, he looked much younger.

Before I see her face to face, I thought of her as much subtle character.

But she was very dressed up in person.

Q. After checking each other out, how was it? He was what I have expected.

because I could talk to him.

I could really talk to him.

His mannish voice escalated my expectation.

I liked him when I saw him.

First I thought her dating style

was very similar to mine.

but then her dating style and characters made me feel

more close to her.

What Is Gene Editing? | Tech-x-planations | Singularity University - Duration: 2:30.

(music)

- Gene editing is making precise

and permanent changes to living things

at the level of the DNA-

the A's, T's, C's, and G's that are

the source code and the building blocks of DNA.

There are several ways to do targeted gene editing,

but the one everybody is talking about

right now, is CRISPR-Cas9.

We've taken the natural bacterial immune system

and tweaked it to be a highly precise pair

of molecular scissors that can be directed

to any particular sequence of A's, T's, C's, and G's.

CRISPR-Cas9 has a few ingredients:

a guide RNA, the Cas9 enzyme,

the DNA that we want to change,

and a short DNA that has the edit we want.

We synthesize a guide RNA that contains

the sequence that we want to edit.

For example, the DNA sequence that causes

a disease like sickle cell anemia.

We have to have the DNA in the living thing

that we want to edit.

For example, a chromosome in a human sperm or egg.

We mix these things with Cas9,

an enzyme that's shaped like a hand.

I just happen to have Cas9 on me.

This is Cas9.

Cas9 grabs the guide RNA, and then starts searching

the chromosomal DNA for a match.

When the guide RNA matches the DNA sequence,

Cas9 finds it and cuts the chromosomal DNA.

So Cas9 is both the hand and the scissors,

and the guide RNA guides the hand

to the right place to cut.

If we want to knock out a gene-

make it not work anymore-

we can stop right there.

But if we want to edit the gene,

we add one more ingredient:

DNA that contains the sequence we want to add in.

Adding that template DNA to the mix tricks

the cell into repairing its DNA

with the new sequence, so in this case,

the sequence that is healthy instead of

the old sequence, which we said was sickle cell anemia.

Now the cell's chromosome has the edited DNA sequence,

and will pass it on to every other cell when it divides.

If you've edited a sperm or an egg,

then every cell in the embryo,

and eventually the person,

will carry the new DNA sequence.

So is this easy?

Not really, but it's a lot easier

than any other way we've had to edit DNA so far.

Northwood University's Winter Wonderland - Duration: 1:40.

Winter was coming and the students were scared of exams on the schedule and snow in the air.

Woody thought to himself, "what could I do, to put this whole campus in a more festive

mood?

An idea struck Woody, then it struck him again.

To make his plan work he called up a friend.

Then that friend called her friend, who called up three more, and they all pitched in to give

some decor.

They placed banners on lamp posts and lights on the trees, then hung ornaments, tinsel,

and holiday wreaths.

The decorations made for a most beautiful scene.

Overnight, Northwood transformed to a dream.

The students, inspired, marveled at the beauty, then opened their books and returned to their

duty.

But there is still some more room to join in the game -

This one's brand new, all it needs is your name.

Sungah Begins New York University E05 - Duration: 7:43.

When I heard that you were coming, it reminded me of our university time

A few days ago, I went to my university after a long time

I almost forgot how to drive there I even needed my GPS navigation when driving

How to go there? Where do we get out?

I told Sungah to get some sleep but she didn't

-Nono, I can sleep later -Just give me a moment. I've got this

-But now she is totally energetic again -I am always more alive at night. I'm a night person

-Has everything come out? -This is it

What is this? Tequila?

it's too strong!

When I met Sungah at the orientation for the first time, I really wanted to be her friend

I was older than my classmates

She was already popular because she is pretty

I really stood out because of my age.

Why do you keep saying that you're old when told you're pretty?

Oh well, that could be the case...

She's really bad at getting complimented

If you go to university later than others it's really easy for you to be an outsider.

But I mean, I finally got into university, and now I have to be an outsider?

I tried even harder than others then I gotta enjoy it more than anyone else!

- Hello~ - They're my friends.

They're my college friends.

Were you born here? Oh, you're an international student!

She is my favorite

She is my favorite too

Her motion is extraordinary

Hello~

- Feel free to speak comfortably to me. - I tend to take some time with that.

This is the first time I've ever come this upper.

I went up to 125th street yesterday. Columbia University

It's so warm today! It's hot!

So hot.   You're not feeling hot because there are holes in your clothes.

I'm dressed so warmly.

It gets cold so quickly in the shade

Here is the subway station.

- I don't think we can stop by a cafe. - Well, we can just drink coffee here.

Shall we?

What do you want to drink?

I like my Americano really weak.

- What is that? - Lemon water.

You know I put water in my coffee.

I tried that with lemon water and it tastes really bad.

Do you want to try my coffee?

You don't have to, just in case you're curious.

I was thinking it would taste like barley tea.

Yeah This feels just right!

That's why I can't buy coffee outside.

Once I buy this, it takes 5 days to finish it.

Did you use to do that before?

When I was in school I didn't drink coffee at all.

When I went to cafe I usually ordered latte, not coffee.

I drink 4-5 cups of coffee a day when I work.

When I was working at the company,

I just made coffee In the morning only because I didn't want to work

It was a little boring at work. I have to sit all day and my bottom hurts...

It's like I'm a machine. I have to eat at this time, do that at that time, things like that.

It feels so suffocating, not being able to move around, right?

I used to print something at work just to stand up.

Printing something was my only pleasure.

My office-going hour was really early. It was 08:00.

So I had to get up at 06:30

I had to leave when it's still dark. it was not a life...

And I wanted 8 hours of sleep so badly.

So I did the math, and it turns out I have to go to sleep at 10:30 pm to do so.

But right now, although it may not be a proper business, I have my own work going on.

I have a lot of work to do actually.

At first, I started thinking, 'I just have to do this, this, this'

but as it turns out, there are lots of smaller things.

There isn't really a working hour.

You just start working when you wake up, and you can't get off work until it's finished.

We have to go now.

Let's meet up later today if we can.

Is there a restroom here?

- I think there is. - Really?

Let's stop by the restroom before we go.

Almost there?

Oh? Did I miss it?

Is this it? I think it's here.

Teaching Online at Butler University - Elisa Lucchi-Riester - Duration: 2:03.

Hello. My name is Elisa Lucchi-Riester. I'm a full-time instructor

in the Modern Languages Department at Butler University. I teach Spanish language and culture.

The fact that I enjoy creating a personal relationship with students

and I was concerned that that would not happen

not having a face-to-face classroom setting.

And one feature that I thought wouldn't be too

conducive again to that open space for communication in a way that would create

the personal response to each other, was the Forum. I thought that was not so

positive and instead it turned out to be a positive thing because really allows

students to ponder, to think more. When we're in class, they're on the spot.

So, one beautiful feature of online courses is time.

Then definitely students can have that luxury of thinking through the material.

A reflection journal that was really opening up to me their perspectives,

their understanding of the material, and how that was translating into something

meaningful to them. And that gave me an insightful view of each student. So I,

in that sense, it was extremely satisfying that I was concerned and scared about

not having the personal contact and in the end I actually had it.

So the experience was positive because, number one I had enough support ahead of time.

The pre-course phase is the crucial one, in order to have a successful online teaching experience,

both from the professor's stand point of view and the students' stand point of view.

Ask Admissions: Can I transfer to a four-year university, and will my classes transfer? - Duration: 0:50.

"If I go to a community college, can I transfer to a four-year university?"

Yes, definitely! And that was the route I took, actually.

So, I did two years at a local community college before I transferred to a four-year institution.

"How do I know if a class will transfer?"

That's a good question and I always encourage students to use the website transferology.com

because it does show the equivalencies between institutions.

And if you use transferology.com and the course you're taking isn't listed on the website,

it doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't transfer, but it means we won't know if it transfers

until after you attempt to do that.
