Hey, guys, Professor Bill of Comic Book University and I'm going to explain Klaus in about a minute.

Klaus' first appearance was in "Klaus #1" in November 2015 and he was created by Grant Morrison and drawn by Dan Mora.

Klaus is Grant Morrison's interpretation of Santa Claus, a man who was originally an isolationist during medieval times.

One day, he brought furs and meat to the town of Grimsvig, and saw the Baron of this city, named Magnus, enslaving the men of the city to work in the coal mines.

Worst of all, he disallowed the children of Grimsvig to play or own toys.

Trying to forget what he'd seen in the city, Klaus played a song to the spirits of the wilderness, called The Shining Family.

That night, those same spirits possessed Klaus, causing him to fashion dozens of magical toys for the children.

After several confrontations with the city guard, Klaus proved himself worthy to the forest spirits, who grant him immortality.

Eventually, he and his she-wolf, Lilli, would overthrow Magnus and defeat a child-eating demon.

Every year after, Klaus would board a levitating sleigh drawn by eight wolves and bring toys to the children of Grimsvig, and soon, to the world.
