Welcome to this special holiday performance
edition of Inside Education.
I'm your host, Mitch Truswell.
During this time of year,
we always tap into the student talent
and invite choirs, orchestras, jazz ensembles
and more from across the Clark County
School District into the Vegas PBS studios
to help put us in the holiday spirit.
This year we have three consecutive weeks
of special shows highlighting
these impressive young musicians.
We begin with the madrigal singers
from Green Valley High School.

(Samuel Breeden) This is the Garrett Jr. High School Show Choir.
Basically at our school or other schools
or a gig somewhere, we sing and sometimes
we have choreography and out in public.
Our teacher calls us the face
of Garrett Jr. High School.
(Jillian Rigodon) We're just one big family.
We love each other's company,
and we appreciate everything
we have together as a family.
(Edgar Urena) My favorite thing about participating
in orchestra is learning how to play the songs.
It's just so great making people smile
wherever I go when I play for them.

(Bella Jimenez) I stay involved because I really like the teacher.
He just makes the class really fun.
I like to play music; I enjoy it.
It's a fun way to spend my time.
(Kaden Wolf) I like playing all the different, diverse styles
of music that we do, and I just love playing
my instrument with my friends.
(Kylee Perry) I like being in ensemble because we get to learn
different songs, and usually we don't play
the same part as others, just for a few songs.

(Aaron Karlvenzon) I like playing the viola because
it's a way to express how you feel
when you can't explain it in words.
You can just get yourself out there
without having to say it yourself.
(Jake Van Orden) I've been singing at Green Valley
for four years, since I was a freshman.
I've been in the madrigal and the concert choir
and also our high school a capella group.
It's an amazing experience to sing every day
and have that community around you all four years.
It makes everything so much better.
(Laura Hufft) The students that go to our school are amazing.
They're all very spirited.
That's why we audition to be in Mads every year
because we love our school
and we love performing for them.
(Audrey Bennett) It makes me feel wonderful.
It's like a great thing to take my mind off
and make my mind come to a happier place.
(Erika Neal) I really love singing Christmas music
and how everybody sounds,
happy and loving and all that stuff,
and I really like that about Christmas music.
