Losing weight is not the answer - Duration: 5:18.
hello gentle folk of the internet my name is Rebekah this is The Rebekah Fit
I've come to share today I want to talk to you about New Year's resolutions
we're all pressured to improve ourselves at this time of year so many people love
to hate them I really enjoy the end of the year for a chance for
self-reflection when I was struggling financially through my 20s the holiday
season was really just about a time that I could count on finding work for a few
months straight maybe a couple days with time and a half that was an incredible
windfall to me that was an incredible opportunity for stability and an
opportunity to regroup and figure some stuff out now it's mostly about
cancelling subscriptions to stuff that I don't need and figuring out how to like
tweak and optimize and so I'm organizing and canceling for many folks they talked
about trying to get in shape and I feel like it's unfortunate that a lot of
people get confused about what shape they want they get really specific about
the shape that they want true story I totally did the same thing when I was
first getting started and it was in fact the seeking a specific shape that led to
many of the injuries that I was experiencing so it's not actually very
helpful I want to challenge you to dig a little deeper we're such a beauty centric
Society and I want to look good too don't get me wrong but I also know that
beauty is fleeting everyone ages eventually everyone's skin starts to sag
and it doesn't start to look super cute anymore but what does that mean what
value does that have while I totally respect and support all of us wanting to
take better care of ourselves that's great I want to stress that how you feel
in your body is more important than how you look there will always be someone
prettier than you and stronger than you those things come and go you want to
have insert body type that may not be genetically or otherwise available to
you well you go through all that work and then you
get the thing that you were expecting that's pretty demoralizing it's really
really hard to recover from that focusing on the way you feel prioritizes
what gives back to you focusing on the way you feel helps you prevent those
injuries that body building which is what I was doing before
absolutely contributes to because I was neglecting my core to keep that shapely
figure that I wanted that's what was causing my injuries it wasn't that I was
working out too much it was that I was working out too much in a way that was
deliberately unhelpful because I was trying to look pretty and real talk I'm
gonna tell you right now some athletes are fat I'm a tagging up above there's
an interview with Fat Joe on cribs on MTV and I can't I
I don't even understand how I can remember this but he talks about working
out he's like I'm the healthiest fat dude you ever known if you want to get
fit eat right meditate take walks etc etc etc that's awesome when we start to
talk about I want to lose weight or I don't want to be fat well now I have
some questions are you sure that's how it works how does your clear harsh judgment
about fat bodies feel to the people around you your self-talk affects the
people around you young people around you hear what you say and it's not about
the weight it's not about the fat it's about how you feel doing what makes you
feel good shouldn't be about hating your body every shape that your body takes is
a body worthy of love and you may not get the optimal body that you think that
you want with all this work so just think about what you're prioritizing we
all have fat some more than others when I was fat being fat wasn't the problem
that I was depressed and in pain was a problem for folks that want to say
people who are fat should feel bad you should
feel bad for thinking that and you probably won't like my channel very much
so I'm gonna just be indiscriminate about blocking anyone who brings that
mess to my comment section Unwelcome what do you want to cultivate for
yourself what do you want to do for yourself that makes you feel good about
being in your body for the new year let me know in the comments below that's
basically for the Rebekah Fit thank you so much for watching if your your new
friend be sure to subscribe and tick that little bell to get notifications
from me if you enjoyed that video give it the thumbs up if you have a New
Year's resolution that is totally unrelated to fitness a New Year's
resolution that is totally related to fitness your kids New Year's resolution
or you just have super big feels about the end of the year that you're super
excited to share with me please comment below thank you have a great day

Will a psychiatrist ever tell a psychopath what they are? Answer Request▾
I am diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder with psychopathy. A surgeon originally requested my parents put me in therapy after he performed a procedure and found signs of non-suicidial self injury (mostly masochism), and he figured I had depression.
My psychotherapist told me I had "sociopathic tendencies," and referred me to a psychiatrist. This psychiatrist, in turn, asked me everything revolving the word "psychopath" without using it, seemingly trying to avoid it.
Psychiatrists normally don't like to throw the label out in front of patients because it may bring out the hypochondriac in them.
I was never "told" what my diagnosis was. I found it by looking at the receipts I received from paying the psychiatrist.
On it was a code that aligned to whatever "disorder" I had; I googled the code, and I figured it out.
