North Korea: High-level defector believes THIS is the answer to solving crisis...

The high-level defector, who left the communist regime last year, told Congress in Washington that disseminating more information in the highly reclusive country would ultimately be more effective that spending billions of dollars on military capabilities.

Thae Yong-ho, chief of mission at Pyongyangs embassy in Britain until he defected in 2016, said: We can educate the North Korean population to stand up by disseminating outside information." Asked what kind of information he was discussing, Thae said background about North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, like his birth date, to convey the idea that he and his family are not gods. He said South Korean videos, for example, were increasingly available within the North.

Mr Thae said: The US is spending billions of dollars to cope with the military threat and yet how much does the US spend each year on information activities involving North Korea in a year? Unfortunately, it may be a tiny fraction." Mr Thae made his first visit to Washington during rising international tensions over North Koreas nuclear and ballistic missiles program.

The crisis is expected to dominate US President s trip to the region which begins this weekend and includes a stop in South Korea.

Mr Thae also told the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee that US officials should meet with Kim at least once to try to understand his thinking and convince him that he is risking mass destruction.

Mr Thae said Kim thinks he can force the United States to accept North Korea as a nuclear power and drive US forces off the Korean peninsula.

It was reported on Tuesday that Washington was quietly pursuing direct diplomacy with North Korea, despite Trumps public assertion that such talks are a waste of time.

Amid a war of words between Kim, who has called Trump a mentally deranged dotard, and Mr Trump, who referred to Kim as little rocket man, many US politicians have been pushing for non-military solutions to the crisis.

Representative Ed Royce, the committees Republican chairman, called at the hearing for a dramatic increase in the number of individuals and entities targeted for sanctions, without delay. Mr Thae is the highest-level defector from in two decades.

In his testimony he described a life before he left for South Korea that mixed relative privilege and oppression.

He said he defected because he could not let his sons lead a life, like me, as a modern-day slave. Mr Thae's comments come two days before President Donald Trump is due to make his first visit to Asia since he was elected last year.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump is expected to put more pressure on Chinese premier Xi Jinping in talks next week to take tougher measures against North Korea.

Senior administration officials say Mr Trump will try to convince Xi when they meet in Beijing to squeeze North Korea with steps such as limits on oil exports, coal imports and financial transactions.

It is the latest attempt by Mr Trump to have China, North Koreas only major ally, rein in Pyongyangs nuclear weapons ambitions but it is far from clear if Xi, who has just consolidated his power at a Communist Party congress, will agree.

China says its leverage over Pyongyang is exaggerated, and points to its support in the UN Security Council for recent sanctions on North Korea as evidence that it is trying to curtail the isolated nations nuclear and missile tests.

Japan's Answer to Assassin's Creed Origins I Ghost of Tsushima - Duration: 3:36.

Hi everyone, my name's Aaron, and welcome to A/C Gaming.

Playing Assassin's Creed Origins is nothing short of an amazing experience.

That being said, I have been putting multiple hours into this game.

But recently, Sucker Punch Productions revealed Ghost of Tsushima at Paris Games Week.

And this game has grabbed my attention.

To my surprise, Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin's Creed Origins share many characteristics.

Here are just a few of them:

Number 5

Both Assassin's Creed Origins and Ghost of Tsushima are of the

historic fantasy genre.

There is a common thread of historic truth woven throughout each of these games

with some fantasized lore mixed in.

The time periods and locations of AC Origins and Tsushima differ greatly.

Assassin's Creed Origins is set in Ancient Egypt around 49 BC

While Ghost of Tsushima takes place in Medieval Japan during the year of 1274 AD

Nevertheless, both games are based around historic events

and that makes each of them much more interesting.

Number 4

In both Assassin's Creed Origins and Ghost of Tsushima,

the homeland of the main character is being invaded by a foreign army.

And players have to step-in to save the day as the last defender of their people.

For example,

in AC Origins, the mighty Roman Empire is trying to seize control,

while players take on the role of Bayek, the final Medjay and Defender of Egypt.

In similar fashion, Ghost of Tsushima is set during the 1274 Mongol Invasion.

As one of the last surviving samurai,

players will have to fight for the liberation of feudal Japan.

Number 3 has to do with game type.

Both Assassin's Creed Origins and Ghost of Tsushima are open world,

action-stealth adventure games.

This is apparent in AC Origins, as there is a vast world to explore,

plenty of action,

and a plethora of stealth.

In like manner, Nate Fox, Creative Director at Sucker Punch Productions,

mentioned that players will be able to explore the entire island of Tsushima.

With action, stealth, and new discoveries around every corner.

Number 2

It's time to talk about gameplay.

Although we have not yet seen extensive gameplay from Ghost of Tsushima,

the official trailer featured a few snippets of in-game combat.

As you can see, these instances are shown from a third-person viewpoint.

Similar to third-person view in Assassin's Creed,

Ghost of Tsushima will likely be played in third-person.

Number 1

Although Ghost of Tsushima is a ways away,

and Assassin's Creed Origins has not been out for a very long time,

it seems both games will perform great among players,

and are definitely games worth trying out.

As cliché as this last similarity may sound,

it is so important in today's gaming industry.

Today, many players want games that they will enjoy for years to come.

With vast worlds to explore,

dynamic storylines,

and stunning graphics.

Both Assassin's Creed Origins and Ghost of Tsushima seem to be just that:

great games that will be enjoyed for a long time.

Tottenham ace Harry Winks the answer to England's problems after Real Madrid display - Duration: 4:27.

Tottenham ace Harry Winks the answer to England's problems after Real Madrid display

As it happens we have just one - in the shape of Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks - but when it comes to the man himself it's all about quality instead of quantity.

Winks could pass for a flyweight boxer given his size. He doesn't look like he has the strength to the knock the top of a rice pudding.

But this didn't stop him from producing a heavyweight performance against the might of Real Madrid at Wembley. From the start Winks was in Kroos control as he went toe-to-toe with some of the best midfielders in world football.

Toni Kroos is the German general of the Real engine room. A World Cup and Champions League winner.

But he looked second best to the pocket-rocket from Hemel Hempstead who is now living out his dream of showcasing his considerable skills for club and country.

There have been more decorated and established stars than Winks who have done battle with Kroos and Luka Modric and lost. But Winks appears to have the precious ability of being able to raise his game the bigger the occasion.

Which will stand him in good stead, because he is destined to strut his stuff on the biggest stages of all for a long, long time to come.

Nights like these can prove to be defining ones for some - and the 21year-old wasn't about to give an inch to the might of Zinedine Zidane's European champions.

It took him less than 30 minutes to stamp his mark on this crucial Champions League Group H showdown.

Picking up the ball deep in the Real half, he took a glance forward before floating a sublime diagonal ball to Kieran Tripper meant the rampaging full-back didn't even have to break stride.

His instant cross picked out Dele Alli, who finished from close range to fire Spurs ahead and leave Zidane raging on the sidelines.

Glenn Hoddle was watching from the stands and Winks' pass was one the former Spurs maestro would have been proud of. Before half time Winks was booked for a crude foul on Casemiro.

But the greatest midfielders all have that bit of devil in them. It's not a bad thing, as long as it's controlled.

By the time Winks was substituted on 65 minutes he'd helped Spurs surge into a stunning 3-0 lead and the game was won.

In the space of a few mad weeks the 21-year-old has established himself in Mauricio Pochettino's side and won his first England cap.

He is the Spurs' boss latest gift to the England set-up and once again he deserves huge credit for moulding a raw talent into someone capable of achieving great things.

Pochettino has force-fed Winks a diet of video footage of Spain and Barcelona great Andres Iniesta.

He's even dubbed him his 'Little Iniesta' and it's not difficult to see why, with Winks having paid particular attention to the manner in which the Spanish great accepts a pass on the half turn and uses the momentum to move it forward.

England boss Gareth Southgate was an interested spectator and will name the youngster in his squad today for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

Winks must feel like pinching himself, but it's Southgate who should be doing that because he's been handed a gift from the Gods just when he needed one the most.

Thanks to Heroic Cop Terrorist is Forced to Answer Questions About His Actions - Duration: 3:08.

NYPD Officer Ryan Nash, the cop whose quick-thinking actions prevented suspected Islamic terrorist

Sayfullo Saipov from harming more New Yorkers during an attack Monday, did more than merely

stop the jihadi's rampage — he also made it possible for Saipov to later be questioned.

According to the New York Post, Nash had been out on a routine call to locate what the paper

described as "an emotionally disturbed person" when he came face-to-face with Saipov, a Uzbek

national who had rammed a Home Depot rental pickup truck into pedestrians.

Following the attack, which ended when Saipov reportedly crashed the truck into a school

bus, the Islamic terrorist exited his vehicle armed with a paintball gun and pellet gun

and tried to flee from the scene.

That's when Nash made his move.

"Nash gave chase, drew his weapon and opened fire, bringing down the 29-year-old suspect

before he could do any more harm," the Post reported.

Here's the key, as noted by local station WCBS: Nash fired only one shot.

This is important because had he fired anymore shots, Saipov may have died.

But because he survived, "he's currently undergoing questioning," the station pointed

out.

Though nothing can be done to bring back the eight innocent American who were killed because

of Saipov's sick actions, this questioning could conceivably provide authorities with

a much-needed glimpse into what and/or who radicalized him.

All that was known as of Tuesday morning was that Saipov "was a lone wolf who became

'radicalized domestically' while living in the United States," and that he had been

"influenced by the Islamic State and its violent tactics after arriving in this country

from Uzbekistan," as reported by The Washington Post.

But many other questions remain to be answered:

Had he been in touch with any Islamic State group militants?

If so, who were they?

Where do they live?

Are they trying to radicalize others in the U.S. and elsewhere?

Questions have also emerged about the Masjid Omar Mosque in Paterson, New Jersey, which

NorthJersey.com reported Saipov attended.

This mosque has reportedly been under surveillance by NYPD authorities since at least 2005 as

part of a program to identify "budding terrorist conspiracies."

Authorities now need to determine when Saipov began visiting the mosque, why he visited

it, whether he knew anyone there personally, etc.

This brings us back to Officer Nash, whose incredible actions Monday not only saved lives

but paved the way for these questions to be answered sooner rather than later.

In most terrorist attacks, the suspect winds up dead either because of a self-inflicted

wound or because of wounds incurred during shootouts with the authorities.

In this amazing case, we have a chance to get some real answers, and for that we owe

Officer Nash a lot.

Please share this story on Facebook and Twitter and let us know what you think about NYPD

Officer Ryan Nash's heroic actions.

What do you think about the questions that remain to be answered?
