Hey guys! I've done quite a few digital
bullet journal videos but I've never
really done a video all about different
spreads for artists in particular. I have
sort of talked about some layouts I've
used but it's really only ever been
glossed over. Quick intro for anyone who
is super new here! I keep a digital
bullet journal. It's the exact same
concept as a regular paper bullet
journal but I create the spread
templates using a design program -- even
Microsoft Word works for this, though I
personally use Adobe InDesign -- which is
what you're watching me do right now. I'm
reconfiguring one of my weekly spreads
to better use it for art. Once my spreads
are done and uploaded to the cloud, be it
Dropbox or iCloud or whatever, I use an
app called Noteshelf 2 to to fill them in
on my iPad Pro with my Apple Pencil. You
can use a lot of different apps. There's
Goodnotes 4, Notability and Evernotes
just to think of a few off the top of my
head. But I prefer Noteshelf 2 for
its interface and how well it handles
handwriting. You also don't need to
specifically use an iPad Pro. Any iPad
should be able to handle the apps I've
mentioned. You also don't need an Apple
Pencil specifically. I use my iPad for
art and the Apple Pencil is the best
stylus experience I've ever had but
there are a lot of different styluses
out there on the market. For example,
Adonit makes really great ones in a wide
variety of types. As I don't have an
Android tablet I'm not sure of the apps
you could use, but any PDF annotator
should work similarly. Because that is
basically what Noteshelf 2 and
Goodnotes 4 and the rest are doing. They're
fancy ways of annotating documents, in
this case PDFs I've made of my designs.
With the design I'm working on right now
I wanted to merge my weekly planner with
my Art Momentum spread. Not gonna lie:
I've had a ton of issues keeping up with
my digital bujo but I don't want to
give up because I know I'm just going
through a lot of craziness with the day
job right now. When things quiet down
after the tourist season ends I will be
able to keep on top of things better.
I hope, anyway. I've been working on updated
designs for my Art Momentum spreads in
general and when I was working on a
horizontal formatted one I realized it
would just be easier to merge it with my
weekly spreads instead. This does mean my
weekly spread has less space for each
day but I don't normally have any issues
dealing with not enough space. My lists
typically aren't that long. So I haven't
mentioned it in a while and I'm sure
some people are confused -- what the heck
is Art Momentum? Well, it's something my
friends and I came up with a couple
years ago and the idea kind of stuck
with me. It's basically creating art
everyday, which of course builds momentum --
see what we did there? -- which turns into
good habits. So the idea of the Art
Momentum spreads is to act as a habit
tracker focused entirely on art. It helps
you track how much time you're spending
each day working on creative things, if
you've even worked on them at all. I have
two basic Art Momentum trackers -- the
horizontal and the vertical. The only
real difference is how the bar is laid
out. The other boxes are pretty much the
same but arranged differently. With the
Art Momentum spread it includes boxes
where you can write in the works-in-
progress you're doing right now,
different things you want to improve on
in your art, things you want to learn, and
things you want to create somewhere down
the line, sort of like an art to-do list.
Which is an issue when we look again at
my finished weekly spread which includes
Art Momentum.
There isn't really space for that kind
of information on there because I have
my days so I created an additional
spread just for those boxes. The thing
with Noteshelf 2 -- and probably with
other similar apps, I'm not really sure --
is that once I filled in the page I can
actually copy it to another notebook
including what is filled in. So I can
just keep copying it month after month
and adding to it, which is why I made the
boxes so large. So these are just a few
spreads and ideas for keeping a bullet
journal, especially a digital bullet
journal with an art focus. If you have
anything you'd like to see in a spread
that wasn't covered here feel free to
let me know down below! Or let me know
how you use your bullet journal to help
you with your art goals. I also want to
mention all of the spreads I've shown
you today are available on my Gumroad
shop, which is full of digital downloads.
That link will be in the description of
this video and in a pinned comment so
please check it out. Thank you so much
for watching! If you like this video,
please give it a thumbs up -- it helps me
fight the YouTube algorithm. Also, please
consider subscribing if you like my
content and maybe even give the
notification bell a ring so you don't
miss out on any of my videos! Thank you
again. Byeeee!
