Hey everybody State Representative Ken Clark here on Friday. We're waiting for a

budget a lot of the Republicans are at an ALEC conference. A lot of us Democrats

are hanging around waiting to see what's gonna happen

teachers are outside. It's a beautiful day. I want to talk to you about tax

revenue so don't go away. When talking about history of it back in

1995 our state GDP was about a hundred and thirty billion dollars our budget

was about five percent of that now our state GDP is about three hundred and

five billion dollars and our budget is about three point one percent of that

what does that difference mean it means there is wealth in this state to raise

revenues and still be able to pay for the things we need to. How do we do that?

We need to take revenues from the three legs of the tax stool. That means a

little property tax, a little sales tax and a little bit of income tax on

high-income wage earners. There is a way to do this the Democrats have put

together some ideas and we're really hoping the Republicans will listen to us.

Stay tuned and stay focused on raising revenue for education.

What Does EF's Mission of Opening the World through Education Mean to you? - Duration: 1:01.

Hello, my name is Dmitry Sukhanov

and I'd like to answer the question

What does EF's mission of opening the world

through education

mean to me

For me, as a usual student,

the opportunity to visit those countries

the landscapes of which I stared at in the pictures with great pleasure

and the history of which I've been fascinated by

is a gift from above

Visiting the town of Boston,

which I have chosen as the first to get acquainted with,

has been a dream for me

since the moment I took a great interest in the American Revolutionary War

I think this is a basic reason because it is one of the main objectives of the programme

and for me this is particularly important

As a future translator, who wishes to work in the US,

I'd like to acquire the necessary language knowledge in that country

For this reason EF's mission opens up tremendous prospects to me in achieving my goals

Studying other cultures is a specific concern to me

And EF is known to attract a large number of candidates from a lot of countries

That's why, in my viewpoint,

the opportunity of interaction with other participants is unique in its nature
