Where to go in Kyoto? Arashiyama Bamboo Grove Road Forest! | Japan #37 - Duration: 11:15.

Urgh.

- And then... Wait, did you just fart? - Yup.

- Oh my f***ing god, what's with the "urgh". - It's okay, it stays over there.

- F*** do know the fart will follow you around. - And you dare say this to me. - Aerodynamics.

- You said the same thing the last time you farted in public. - Holy s*** I smelled it.

Hi guys, so right now after taking the train here to this place called Arashiyama.

- And right behind... What are you doing? - I want to be taller than you. - F*** you're ruining the background shot. - Okay, okay.

Behind us is this place called Togetsu-kyō Bridge, check it out.

This river is also very cool.

Very cool river.

- Am I right? Is it cool? - Yes.

- Is it cool? - Cool, I'm crying. (Ku means cry in Chinese).

Right now we're here at the Togetsu-kyō Bridge, we're gonna cross this bridge.

And head over to that side which is the Arashiyama's most famous Bamboo Grove Road.

The time now is about 5:30 pm, 5:40. So...

- No time... - We still have like, 30 minutes? - No time to waste. - Yeah, let's go!

Can you stop taking selfies?

- Come over here. - Stop taking selfies.

- Wait... - Quick!

- Okay, okay. - We've no time! - Alright, alright!

- Look, stand behind them now... - Turn left later.

- Go photobomb them. - Where?

- Oh it's over. - What photobomb?

- Are they taking selfies? - Yeah.

- I thought you would photobomb them. - No I won't.

- I would never do this s***. - You sure? - Yeah. - You always do this.

Come, let's go. Go, go, run now!

No time, let's go!

It's Lawson.

Huh?

No way, no more Lawson. I've no more money.

Any more Lawson and I will be broke.

Arashiyama, oh this is the other station.

- Where should we go now? - Straight, just continue straight.

Actually, if we took the train to this station it would cost us 150 Yen.

What do you mean?

- I mean if we come to this station... - Uh huh. - If we took the train here it only cost 150 Yen.

- Because we took one big round. - Uh huh, and?

- Remember I told you about a shortcut? - Yeah. - I think this station is the shortcut.

So what if we didn't take the shortcut?

- If we didn't take the shortcut it will cost us f***ing 220 Yen. - It's here.

Urgh... I just farted.

Whoa, you're a f***ing piece of s*** you know that?

- Keep farting none stop. - You too. - I love you. Quick.

Hi guys, so right now we're here at this...

Tenryu-ji Zen Temple.

Here at Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan. And without further ado...

Go in and check it out.

And when we're there, "Sorry, it's closed."

I have a bad feeling that it might be closed.

What have I eaten? I kept farting.

Stop saying it out loud.

I think it's closed...

- Maybe it's not. - We can walk through the back entrance. - This thing has sensors.

Look, look!

So advanced.

If there is someone there, then we're definitely on the right track.

You sure or not?

Whoa, look at this...

Beautiful sunset view behind the mountains.

So beautiful right?

It's so green, f***ing green.

Very green.

It's really beautiful.

- Are they fainting? - Huh?

What? Did you fart?

Futomu Gate.

- Hey enough, stop farting! - Stop saying it out loud!

Stop farting!

- Don't fart! - I didn't.

- Come, jump now. - No.

Jump!

No!

- Hurry. - It will make me fart. - Hurry, hurry!!!

Look at this.

World Cultural Heritage.

Tenryuji Sogenchi Garden.

Whoa, very beautiful.

Don't make me look big, not too big. Is the distance okay?

I don't think you look big at all here. This is good.

This is so good...

Okay, nice.

Whoa, this a really beautiful place. Freaking beautiful.

Because of the sunset, so...

This kind of place you better come, when it's during the sunset.

- Insta-worthy! - Yeah, if not you'll be losing all the insta-worthy photos.

- It's closed.. - We are already closed.

It is five... Huh?

500 Yen?

- It cost 500 Yen. - Open until 5:00 pm.

Huh? So we can't go in anymore?

North gate leads to...

- It says "leads to", let's go by the other route. - We'll have to make a U-turn then.

Now we're actually heading off from the temple because it's closed.

Because we're thinking of cutting through the temple to reach the bamboo place.

But then apparently you'll need to pay, second thing, it's already closed.

So right now we're walking out to the main road.

Trying to divert our road to the Bamboo Grove Road.

Right now, right in front of me, there's a weird shop that keeps spraying...

Gas or something. Smoke.

Check it out!

Whoa, there are tons of bamboos here.

- It's a bamboo farm. - Freaking bamboos.

A lot of bamboos here.

You have both alive and dead bamboos.

Those are the alive ones.

These are the ones that already died.

Buddy, there's no point taking this shot.

Come on, choose a better shot.

- You can go ahead first. I will be... - There's no such thing. - Why?

You're the one I'll film for the vlog, how about you hold the camera and film me instead?

But I'm trying to take photos, isn't it the same?

Exactly, so f***ing hell, be quick and run now!

Whoa, there's actually a shrine here huh?

Nonomiya.

Nonomiya.

JR West Japan.

- Actually, we could have taken photos here. - Yeah, we could.

We'll do it later.

Do it when we're back.

Actually, we can do it now though.

- But what if the train starts approaching... Deng Deng Deng. - Then we're screwed.

It's even better when the train is coming, just take a quick shot and run away. - F*** you.

- So that's it? This is the bamboo forest? - Yeah.

Like that?

- Just bamboos. - Like that, huh? - Yeah like this.

- Like that? - A lot of things are like this. In life, a lot of things are like this.

Then what are you expecting from the bamboo forest?

I'm expecting "WHOA F***ING BAMBOOS"! Like this...

It's right here.

You're crazy. Thinking too much.

Where are we?

We're really in a residential park, you know?

Local sightseeing guide map.

You are here.

- Do you realize... Temples... - F***, so many of them.

I don't know where to go.

Freaking don't know where to go, you know? Where do you wanna go?

Where else?

Look at the map.

- We've gone to this bridge already. - Don't...

- We've been there as well. - Yeah, we've been to all of it already.

The mystical... Check this out.

Explore the mystical alley where the mysterious bamboo grove road continues...

Mystical my ***!

Mystical?

Why so fierce?

- I don't feel mystical at all here. - You can add special effects to it when we're back.

Mystical...

Nah, adding all these effects is really exhausting. It's going to cost me a good few days to do it.

And right now, because I don't know where to go...

I'm gonna...

Play the swing and you guys will see me play.

- I'm filming now, so please don't break it. - This thing is tough okay?

How much do you think I weigh? 9 tonnes?

What if it snaps...

I will pay, I will... I will have full responsibility.

Damn, I can't fit my butt in.

Damn, hey f***ing hell there's a toilet over there, I'm going over now.

- Wait, just hold it in! You can do this trust me. You can do it. - Okay, okay.

- I'll wait for you to come up. - Ouch, ouch. My butt is too big.

This is for children!

Hi guys, so that's it for the Bamboo Grove Road here in Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan.

And of course, plus the temple.

A very nice place to come. If you're here in Kyoto...

Be sure to make sure and of course plus sure chop very very sure...

To...

To come here.

Tonight we're going to the Kyoto Tower, we're gonna go up and check out the awesome night view of Kyoto city.

So, are you ready to jump there to Kyoto Tower? Ready baby?!

Ready!

Someone's gonna kick us out very soon.

- Wait, hold this. I'm gonna go to the side and fart, it's gonna stink. - Look, take a look at him farting.

Look at him now, look!

Whoa that smell, I think I'm gonna puke.

Oh my god... I don't know who you are, I don't know you.

Pretty girls are walking past you!

You're lucky the girls can't smell a thing.

Probably because I sniffed up everything.

Hitachi Seaside Park & Ashikaga Flower Park | JAPAN - Duration: 7:12.

Hello everyone!

Today I have something out of my video archive for you.

In 2017 at the end of the Golden Week I joined a bus tour.

This brought us to two popular flower parks in Japan: the Hitachi Seaside Park and the Ashikaga Flower Park.

See it youself in the video. Have fun!

Hello everyone! I am a bus tour again today. As you can see in the background we went to the blue flowers this time.

We are at the Hitachi Seaside Park now and I excited what we will see today.

For sure I will film a lot and I hope you will enjoy the video. Have fun!

Our 90 minutes inside the park over now unfortunately.

We saw the main attraction of this trip, the blue flowers.

They are called Nemophila. I don't know if there is a German name for it.

The park actually is super huge and you probably can spend the whole day inside.

That means we couldn't see a lot, what is really unfortunate.

But we are heading back to bus now, eat something yummy and then we move on to the next flower park.

We are back to the bus. We had about one hour time to look around the wisteria.

It was very impressive how many flowers are coming from one tree or all the trees there.

Here the timing was ok. At the other park it was not so much time.

But it really was a really nice day, all in all.

We are driving back with the bus now. At least until Shinjuku station. This takes about two hours. And from there one more hour to my home.

I hope you enjoyed this video.

Also take a look to my other video about yesterday's bus tour (Shibazakura at Fuji).

And for sure I would be happy if you take a look to my blog, give me a thumb up or leave a comment.

See you!

Architecture in Japan - Duration: 3:29.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Architecture in Japanese is all-encompassing.

When we say architecture, we really mean design in the US.

Here, architecture, there's no difference

between really design and building and construction.

The craftsmen are always [? the ones. ?]

[INAUDIBLE] the architects.

They didn't have architects.

That was very intriguing to me.

And that's what probably led me here.

I guess it was the MIT Japan program then.

It's [? MISTY ?] now?

OK, so it's changed, but that's how I started to come over.

I'm Geoff Moussas and I'm an architect based in Japan.

It was at the very end of my education almost at MIT

in my graduate program that I started to become interested in

and came here for the first time.

I was born and raised in New York.

So New York to Tokyo is not as different as maybe even going

from Tokyo to then I came here to Kyoto.

And for me, Kyoto matches my lifestyle and expectations.

So I'm very happy.

Once I got here, then I realized this is probably

the best place to set my base.

I do a full range from restoring old Machiya

traditional townhouses to making new

reinforced concrete buildings and hotels and so forth

and shops and temple buildings too.

Not only here too, throughout the world.

We're in the very center of [? Guillon. ?] So this

is an old Machiya, probably about 100 years old.

It's been renovated several times already.

So primarily, it's a restoration project,

getting it, bringing whatever we can back, but not restoration

and preservation because we need new facilities.

But they want tradition.

It's not just a hotel.

The advantage is you come here and you're

surrounded by all the original craftsmanship, which is very

difficult to reproduce today.

So it's a balance and that merging of the two,

it's almost merging of the two cultures.

Because the modern part is pretty much from the West,

so merging the East and the West in a way

and modern and traditional.

I've been quite blessed, I think, starting off from MIT

and then jumping to here.

I have been quite fortunate in a lot of ways.

Most things that are worth it are difficult

and take a lot of effort.

I think you have to just go with what you feel is right.

So, I mean, that's part of my journey here.

It hasn't been all smooth for sure.

But I think in the long run, it's

definitely what's right for me.
