Hello everybody!

I'm moving to South Korea in two days

and I thought I'll share with you how

I applied, how I got my visa and what I'm gonna do in terms of

preparation I guess. So if you're interested stay with me and keep watching!

I'm gonna go for a semester abroad and this time I'm gonna go to South Korea!

My flight is in less than 48 hours and I did not really get to do

anything in terms of packing or learning the language, any other preparations

I'm gonna pack my suitcase tomorrow and do some last-minute laundry and stuff like that

but today

tonight it's like 6:00 pm no it's like 7:00 pm

I wanted to clean out my closet and do some research on places I want to go on my

first day in Seoul

Applying for the University in Korea was not that big a mission because it is a

sister University of my University here in Berlin that means I only had to fill

in an application form and a learning agreement and the deadline was mid-april

so only a couple of months before you go abroad

Filling in the learning agreement

was a bit more time-consuming though because I had to decide at that time what classes I want to take

The English course catalog for the fall semester wasn't out yet

So I was told to look at the catalog from last year because it should be fairly similar

In order for the grades that I get for the classes in Korea to be accredited

I needed to pick classes that have content similar to the ones I would do here at my University

This means after I found some courses that I was interested in

I had to present the course list to the head of the faculty and she needed to be okay with that list

I had to do some adjustments but in the end I was quite satisfied with what I got

I then also applied for scholarship and financial aid which meant filling in more forms,

writing motivational letters, handing in different certificates

And I also got a second job to save some money so that kept me quite busy

But I got everything that I applied for so I'd say it was worth it

If you don't do all of that stuff

applying merely for the semester abroad is quite simple and quickly done

After applying at my University here and they gave their okay to the learning agreement and all that

I had to apply directly for the University in Korea

For that in addition to the learning agreement you also need a passport photo,

a copy of your passport, some forms that are really easy to fill in

and an academic transcript in English

The deadline for that was mid May and I got my acceptance notification in mid-june

in addition to a certificate which I needed

to apply for my visa

Okay so the guy who's in charge for the visa applications isn't there today

Because they have some sort of event but I handed in all my application forms anyway and all my paperwork

and I hope that everything is okay

He asked me if I could come back tomorrow but I have exams so

He told me it's gonna be around a week until it's done so that's pretty quick

I have to say that I was surprised by the by the embassy itself

The section was pretty small and compared to the Japanese embassy there is not much security

Like the Japanese embassy

there is like a passport control at the entrance

you have to like empty your pockets like basically at the airport

They scan your bag and all that and there there was just a doorbell and then you go in and

then you're there and then he gave me a number and yeah

I'm glad that it's done

I hope it will work out

I applied

Long story short I'm leaving in two days, yesterday was my last day at work

and now I'm ready to clean out my closet because I thought I'd do that before I start packing tomorrow

so let's get to it

So I donated most of the clothes that I thought I would not wear anymore or would not want to take to Korea

and that for me was an indicator that those might not be my favorite clothes

or my favorite items and why hang on to them if you're not gonna wear them?

Obviously I cannot pack that much, I have a limitation so

I'm not gonna get rid of everything that I'm not gonna take but there are just some

items I thought ok, I'm not gonna wear that and then there's others where it's kind

of hard to decide but those ones that I knew I'm definitely not gonna take

I just thought I'd donate

It was also a really good preparation for packing

because I already had kind of an idea of what is in my closet that I want to take

and that will just speed up the process of packing

So I packed everything up that I sorted out and then donated it

So now I thought I'm gonna do some research regarding SIM cards and shops I

want to visit when I'm in Seoul before meeting my friend for dinner there somewhere

I'm staying at a hostel in Myeongdong, maybe I can check out how to get there from the airport

Although I think I got a confirmation email

It had a description of how to get there from the airport

Myeongdong-Stay

There are two ways from Incheon Airport to here by bus blah blah blah Myeongdong-station or train, subway

I found different kinds of SIM cards especially for foreigners

from 30 days to like 90 days but I'm not sure if these are the best options so

I'm probably going to wait with that until I'm there

There's some interesting data plans from different companies but I'm not sure if

I can get them before I have my alien registration card so I'm gonna find that out in Korea

Thank you so much for watching!

I hope to see you again in my next video which is going to be my trip to Seoul

So if you don't want to miss that hit that subscribe button and see you soon bye

A message from the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge - Duration: 2:58.

Hello, I'm Stephen Toope and I'm so proud to be the new Vice-Chancellor of the

University of Cambridge.

I was a PhD student here back in the 1980's and so

in some ways this feels like coming home and yet this is also a time of

tremendous change at Cambridge.

The University is expanding dramatically in

its Biomedical Campus and in Northwest Cambridge.

Its admitting more state-educated

students that anytime in decades and it's producing research that

has the capacity to change the future of our planet and our societies.

And yet I'm well aware

that I arrived at Cambridge at a time of unease both locally and globally.

It seems that our societies confront complexity and a speed of

change that's hard to manage.

Within the United Kingdom the university sector is

facing changes to the way it's funded the way it's governed and evaluated.

All of these can prompt nervousness and yet Cambridge is an institution that's

thrived from more than 800 years and I'm completely confident that it has shown

the capacity to manage change and complexity.

Our generation faces some big issues

and none of them can be addressed effectively without collaboration across

national borders and disciplinary boundaries.

Cambridge is a place that can

take a lead in crossing those borders and boundaries. With its history of

disruptive discovery it is the prime locus for addressing the issues that

confront not only the United Kingdom but the entire world.

As I begin my tenure as

Vice-Chancellor I'm asking myself many "how" questions.

How together can we ensure

a sense of shared purpose across the collegiate University while recognizing

our diversity.

How do we make sure that our students

have the very best experience we can offer.

How do we promote respectful

debate even on issues where there is deep division allowing for genuine

conversation and dialogue.

These are just a few of the questions that together

we'll be addressing over the course of the next few years.

I hope that Cambridge

will remain an unstoppable force for the promotion of knowledge, for inclusivity

and for the creation of an ever better world.

Hi, I'm Rebecca Mclaren, and I'm Connor Malbeuf for Western TV, and we're at Broughdale

Avenue for Western FOCO.

In just a couple of hours, these streets will be flooded with thousands of people

and watch out, Chakma's got handcuffs

What is the weirdest thing you've done all day?

Oh shit, we played beer pong with this girl, she took her fucking tits out, tried as a

distraction, instead I hit is off her boob and it went in the cup.

We're the nips out?

Yes

Are you pro "free the nipple?"

Yeah

Can I squeeze it?

Go for it

My buddy did a backflip off a fucking house, and we fed him fucking shots

Someone had a sign that said "Queens killed Hugh Hefner"

Yes! I saw that!

Well I mean, I'm just trying to spread the real news here, obviously Queens killed Hugh Hefner

I actually almost got in a fight today because of a Queens student.

He volleyball spiked my sign and wanted to fight me

What do you want to check off the bucket list tonight?

FOURSOMEEEEE

Hear it?

Foursome

Had a blanket. Cut a hole. Poncho.

And what's under the poncho?

Nothing

How much money would it take to take your pants off?

Honestly, probably not that much

I have twenty bucks, come on Chris,

Oh five bucks

Five bucks, I mean I hope that you aren't going commando

AYEEE

Hello guys!

How is your Foco going so far?

Blessed

Blessed

Hello sir, is everything okay?

Have you had better days?

I've had better days.

That's fair

I bought this outfit for six dollars at Goodwill, and my mom says I looked like the best god

damn Western student there ever was

You kinda look like Madonna

What are you gonna say to Alex Chakma, who almost wanted to shut this down.

It doesn't matter what you email us, we're still gonna do this.

I'm sorry, we're still gonna do this no matter what you say.

If he was out here, having a beer, with us, we would feel the connectivity.

One thing to Anita Chakma, what are you gonna tell her?

Anita Chakma - what's up.

Hit me up.

Andrew Chakma, thank you so much for giving us two homecomings.

I really appreciate it and so does all of Western.

What would you say to Alex Chakma who wanted to shut this down?

The more you try, the more we prevail, because this shit's fuckin' lit and it's not gonna

happen.

Do you know how much money he makes a year?

Not enough to shut us down that's for sure.

What's the main difference between Fanshawe and Western?

Western, everyone is just fuckin' preppy as bitches and I can't deal with them.

The dudes, you gotta fuckin' work on yourself.

Okay, Fanshawe guys don't hit the gym though that's the thing.

Have you seen my fucking cock?

Okay but you can't work out your dick, you do know that?

Yes I can.

No I mean there's pills for it I think.

Okay don't pull your dick out.

I can bench press 225 on my dick.

Yeah bro.

What is the easiest program at Western?

It's gotta be social sci.

Social science.

I have about 5 hours a week of class.

That's it?

Is that because you're not going to class?

Maybe, a little bit.

Nursing.

Nursing?

Nursing.

Easiest program?

Kinesiology without fail.

Kinsesiology.

Kin.

Kin?

Kin.

It had to be kin.

Kinsesiology.

You have one word to say to Queens, what do you tell them?

FUCK YOU!

Hey guys, do you wanna be in an interview?

Well, your dick's not gonna be in it so it's fine.

How much alcohol have you drank so far today?

Too much.

Okay.

What do you want to check off the bucketlist today?

A lot of people have been saying foursomes, threesomes...

I just want to find a girl to take home.

Hello sir. Are you a Western student?

No.

What school do you go to?

University of Guelph.

Sorry to interupt you right now, but I have to hear your best Tinder pickup line.

My tender.

Tinder pickup line.

Um.

Did you do up your pants?

Yeah.

Gotta do up the zipper hold on.

I'm a business man.

I'm here to make connections.

What is the grossest frat on campus?

Oh like most beauty?

Sigma Chi probably.

Which frat is probably like the grossest?

I heard Sigma was kinda duuurty.

There's some things that go on that I've heard about that I don't know if I would associate

with anyone there.

Would you ever date a frat boy?

Definitely not.

Well Rebecca, it's apparent Chakma can't stop the party.

Thanks for watching Western TV.

Make sure to like, share, and subscribe.

See ya next time Western!

Vote Isabella Lenihan-Ikin for University Council - Duration: 1:14.

Regardless of what we study for our reasons or pathway to come to

University, we all come to Vic to receive a really high-quality tertiary

education that will prepare us for the next stage of our lives. But the quality

of the education we receive is far from being the only factor that influences

our lives as students here in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. But it's the community

around us that determine this - the flats that we live in, the amount we get from

StudyLink each week, the part-time jobs that we have, and the health support

that we get on campus. But of course the leaders at our University

aren't living this reality, which is why we need a strong student voice at Vic's

top decision-making body - the University Council. As a senior member of the

VUWSA Executive, I understand student issues and I'm well connected throughout

the University. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou. Ko Isabella Lenihan-Ikin

tōku ingoa. My name is Isabella Lenihan-Ikin and I am

standing to be the student representative on the University

Council. I am ready and prepared to be a champion for students where it matters

the most.
