Auto news on Youtube Feb 17 2019

what's going on guys John Santos and in this video we're gonna be answering your

questions that you recently left in the communities tab thank you guys all for

submitting them and if you're not aware we have a clothing line giveaway that

just went live on this channel go ahead and check out the most recent video

which gives you guys all the details so let's just jump into this one the first

question comes from CEO said and he asks can you give a few tips on how to get a

logo design also what do you think about paying someone to design your clothing

alright so this is all about designing clothing and I think it's a great tie-in

to the giveaway since you guys will need those clothing designs in order to

really take advantage of the credits and everything else coming your way so let's

start off with how to get a logo design alright there's multiple ways to go

about it but ultimately guys it's gonna be up to you the Creator the person

that's really that really knows about the brand to set the direction alright

you can't just assume that somebody will fully understand your concept without

you putting in that groundwork alright which is why I feel that logos sometimes

should probably be thought of a little bit further down the line after you

figure out exactly what the brand is about because a logo will essentially

give meaning to that brand alright so I think you should really start with a

good brand name a brand name that you guys can stand behind and a mission and

the vision for that brand before you start to really think about the type of

logo that needs to be associated with it once you guys set the direction as that

owner as a founder of that company then you'll be able to either start sketching

things out yourself or work with a graphic designer to kind of help them

see that vision and help them come up to something that you'll also be able to

use and now to answer that second part of your question which is essentially

should you pay people for clothing designs I feel that if you're not an

artist or maybe graphic design isn't your forte I really do believe that you

should be working with a team of artists to bring your ideas to life once again

it is completely your vision especially if this is your company and not a

graphic artist this company you're gonna need to set the direction for the

designs and you're gonna need to figure out exactly why you're designing that

alright so when you bring on graphic designers they they're gonna complement

that and they're gonna enhance those those ideas and visions but the last

thing you kind of want to do is just let some let a bunch of random people set

design for random ideas because that's what

generally happens with most clothing lines is most people just put on random

designs and try to sell them and they don't really have any any real meaning

or substance to them so when it comes to working with graphic designs I have

linked a couple of different resources down below that you guys can use whether

it's about creating ideas or whether it's about you know enhancing an idea or

a design there's gonna be resources down below that will help you guys in that

process the next question comes from Jessica Jessica thank you for taking the

time and commenting on this I appreciate your you subscribing to this channel so

the question is how do you know when somebody is legitimately representing a

company that way you don't get scammed and if you're buying clothes from

wholesale should you give a wholesaler your home address appeal box or send it

directly to a printing company's address alright so this is once again is a

two-part question and let's start with answering the first

one which is essentially how do you know when someone is legitimately

representing a company I assume that you're talking about purchasing

wholesale or some other blanks from from a certain company maybe overseas or a

company that you're not able to really vet and you're wondering you want to

make sure that you don't get scammed by some somebody online that's saying oh I

got these amazing products by here right that's the thing about buying online and

that's why it's very crucial for you guys to find the right suppliers that

are gonna either sell you direct or have a US presence and that's something that

I always ask and there's a video linked about buying wholesale which I'll link

right up above here and I'll throw it right down below but essentially I

highly recommend that you guys watch that when it when it comes to really

sourcing from suppliers you need to know that you're dealing with the right

person before you give them thousands of dollars and they run off with it and

then you never see anything or you give them thousands of dollars and they give

you a product that wasn't anything that you ordered and trust me all of those

things happen so in order to avoid some of those things you're gonna really want

to ask for the credentials of the company in terms of what their title is

and it obviously will help a lot if they're using a company's extended

domain name like the company like the brand or the products they're selling

but then it's also important to know that just because they have a website

and a half products and now somebody's trying to sell you something

it's also important to know that they may not even be the owners of those

products and they may just be resale or selling from companies that they're

sourcing from locally so that kind of that's essentially the problem and the

issues with a lot of things on Alibaba which is another video I'll link up here

too it's an old classic but yes in order to vet people you're gonna need to make

sure that you'd place a sample order a small order of those products in order

to ensure that they're coming from where they say they're gonna be coming from

alright so if somebody isn't willing to let you buy whether it's five or six

products then don't do business with them because why would you spend two

thousand three thousand dollars on on an order if they don't want to sell you two

to three products in order for you to see the quality and fit alright and even

then it's still a little bit up in the air if you're gonna get that same

quality and fit so overall dealing with overseas

suppliers can be a very tricky thing and I highly recommend that you proceed with

caution make sure that they have an established website or credentials

second thing you could do is make sure that they're able to sell you samples

and third thing is make sure you verify where those samples are coming from as

soon as you get the package they'll have an address you could try to like prosper

efference Google to see if it's coming from a factory location or a

distribution hub or if it's coming from somebody else outside in the countryside

you know like you never know but at least you could start to kind of bet

suppliers that way and then the second part is what address should you give the

suppliers well if you're ready to start printing and if your timelines are a

little tight then ship it directly to the printing companies address a lot of

time printing companies will let you guys keep your products there as long as

you're ready to print within a few days or maybe a week or two max so that's a

great place and address to send it to if it's coming overseas though that's also

something that you're gonna need to know if it's coming from overseas you're

gonna also you're gonna want it shipped somewhere where you could verify it and

where you can sign off for it especially if it's a couple thousand dollars you're

gonna want to at least inspect those products before the factory receives

them and then they just start printing stuff for you and then at that point

it's too late to turn anything around whether it's a bad product and then you

get a good printing because it's a bad product with good printing chances are

you're not gonna be able to sell it because we're not comfort

with the actual product so I hope that answer some questions always try to use

your own address when it comes to shipping products so you can actually

vet those items and then once you establish that relationship and you know

the quality is on par and decent you could ship it directly to the

manufacturer that's gonna be printing your garments this next question comes

from Jamal Jamal appreciates you for reaching out the man he says in 2019 how

has printful improved as a fulfillment company I want to launch my brand but I

see a lot of poor reviews and yes printful has evolved from the first time

that I essentially created a video which I'll also link up here if you guys want

to reference that for those you guys that may not know what printful is it's

essentially a print to order type of business model where you guys upload

your designs and they are able to print the product and ship it out to a

customer now when a company like this type of service starts they're gonna

they're gonna really make sure that everything is legit and everything is

like customer service and everything is growing right everything is like on

point now as a company is growing I think I really do believe that they're

going through some growing pains which means that they're trying to keep up

with the demand but they're actually letting a lot of things slide like

they're letting either quality control or customer service or even basic

communication to their printing partners I think they're having some issues with

that and I and I strongly feel that as soon as they work those things out

they're gonna be a great fulfillment company but for the time being something

that I'll recommend everyone do if you're interested in getting with

printful is make sure that you use printful and some of these online

suppliers some of these like print to order online suppliers as a way to get

your ideas out meaning that you have a method of actually printing and easily

bringing some of these garments that you may not be able to get your hands on

whether it's bella canvas or american apparel it's all about using the catalog

that they have available and then putting some of your ideas on to an

actual garment once you guys get those ideas to the actual garment you're able

to actually show people what your brand is gonna be about you're able to be the

photography for it and everything else that you need to actually launch the

brand once you get launched I think printable is a great way to start but I

don't think it's gonna be something that you should ever really consider

long-term for a lot of multiple guys a lot of reasons why you shouldn't

consider it long term especially mainly because of the margins and then also

because of the very shoddy quality that you may get so the biggest thing I

recommend is that you guys find a supplier locally to you there's a lot of

print-on-demand companies that are coming out and they're gonna be able to

service your needs locally so you're not having to try to figure out if a

customer across the country received the product the way it was supposed to be

received when it ships from the other side of the country make sure that you

start with printful as a way to actually get your idea out but then you start

looking for suppliers are gonna help you guys actually grow and stay with you

through that growth thank you everyone for submitting your questions the

questions that I pulled from we're from the communities tab where I mentioned

the clothing line giveaway if you have a question that you like me to answer just

comment right in that tab yes make sure you do that head on over there comment

leave your question so I could answer in the future QA and more importantly guys

head on over to the giveaway which I'll link right over here right now

alright so just enter your details and enter by reading the details right in

this area right here make sure you leave any questions that you may have about

the giveaway and the comments down below I look forward to helping you guys build

your brands and businesses in 2019 and I'll see you guys on the next one bye

Quitting Social Media Is NOT the Answer - Duration: 8:40.

In the last two decades, we've seen an explosion in technology.

And while all technologies can be harnessed for good, there's also a way to misuse any

tool.

I'm not arguing against the use of social media.

Med School Insiders, after all, has a presence on YouTube

Instagram, Facebook,

and Twitter.

On one hand, there are angry luddites condemning social media, and on the other hand, you have

addicted students who are oblivious to the detrimental effects of their social media

use.

As with most things in life, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

What's going on guys, Dr. Jubbal, MedSchoolInsiders.com.

After taking a brief peak at the literature, it is abundantly clear that social media addiction

is a serious problem.

And it's not that surprising.

Some of the smartest minds are working at top tech companies, purposely designing products

to grab your attention and keep you on their platform.

After all, that translates to more revenue.

Until recently, I found it difficult to understand how social media addiction was a problem for

so many people.

Throughout college, medical school, and residency, I simply didn't find myself using social

media much.

I was too busy, and Facebook just wasn't that appealing to me.

But then, I started Med School Insiders, and in doing so, I created an Instagram, Twitter,

and downloaded the YouTube Studio and Google Analytics apps on my phone.

No longer in residency and with much more control over how I spent my time and used

my devices. I mean, let's be real it's tough to use social media while you're working in the hospital or operating room.

SoI found myself unhappy with the amount of time I spent on these apps, and more specifically the level

to which they distracted me from focusing on meaningful work.

It's been demonstrated that the constant barrage on our attention from these distractions

slowly erodes our ability to focus and get meaningful work done.

I found my own capacity for deep work becoming fragmented.

Was I becoming addicted?

According to the literature, you may be addicted to social media if any of the following apply

to you: you're preoccupied by social media, you use it to reduce negative feelings, you

gradually use it more and more in order to get the same pleasure from it, which is essentially

building tolerance, you suffer distress if you're prohibited from using social media,

or you sacrifice other obligations or cause harm to other life areas because of your social

media use.

It's ok, you're not alone.

A lot of us are addicted to social media.

But fear not, I've got the antidote. Now this is how you can cure your addiction and yet still use social media.

I've heard multiple people recommend 30 day detoxes from social media.

As a physician, I detest the words "detox" and "cleanse".

But that's besides the point.

Quitting social media for 30 days to reset your relationship with your phone and computer

is not a bad idea — it's just not that realistic. Instead, I suggest you do the

following. First, delete social media apps for only one day.

Staying away from social media for 30 days is setting the bar way too high.

To successfully implement behavior change, you have to start small, otherwise you're

likely to cave in and fail on achieving your goal, regressing back to your initial state.

I recommend beginning this process with deleting Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and any other

social media apps you use from your phone for just one day.

For me, that also included the YouTube Studio app, where YouTubers check their stats, comments,

and other analytics.

Doing so will set the bar low enough that it is easy and feasible to achieve, but it

will also give you a taste of what life is like without constant dopamine snacks and

hits to your attention.

As someone who has done the 1 day delete, I'll be the first to tell you that it's

a nice change and helps the following tips fall into place. Number two, refine your inputs.

They say you're the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

I say you're the average of all your inputs.

Now that you've taken a brief break away from social media, come back to it with a

fresh perspective and the ability to more accurately determine what is actually bringing you

value.

Ruthlessly unsubscribe and unfollow accounts on Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Facebook,

Reddit, and any other sites that are distracting you and not providing value.

Remember, be aggressive.

And don't worry, they'll still be there later if you change your mind and want to resubscribe.

These platforms are ultimately tools and it comes down to how you use them.

I am an avid user of Reddit, but I've unsubscribed to most of the default subreddits, because

frankly, dank memes don't bring me lasting happiness.

Personal finance, cycling, and medicine, on the other hand, teach me useful information.

I went over how I slashed 50% of my YouTube subscriptions and how I determine which channels

to follow on my personal vlog channel.

Link in the description below. Number three, reclaim your attention.

There is an art and science to setting up your phone for maximal productivity and minimal

distraction.

I'll be going over a more in-depth guide in a future video.

For now, disable notifications for all social media apps.

That means no lock screen notifications, no badges, and no sounds.

This will prevent you from being distracted every time someone likes or comments on a

new post.

Taking this a step further, remove any distracting emails from your inbox.

I personally have a filter set up that automatically archives all emails from Facebook.

Requesting to receive fewer emails from Facebook was not effective at actually stopping attention

seeking spammy emails from blasting my inbox.

Shocking.

Number four, implement systems to block future you

This comes down to a few different tactics.

First, let's talk about your phone, since that's where most of our social media usage

time is based.

My go-to technique is completely free and surprisingly effective — move your phone

out of sight.

Sounds stupidly simple, right?

I am constantly amazed at how effective it is.

If I'm working, I now make sure I don't leave my phone on the table or desk, as I'm

much more likely to mindlessly pick it up and check for new updates.

Instead, put it in another room or elsewhere out of your line of sight.

Second, block future you from using the app too much.

An easy first step is to move the apps off the home screen, so that finding them takes

additional work, which hopefully is enough of a friction point to make you aware and

provide you a brief moment to catch yourself if you're acting impulsively.

Additionally, Android and iOS devices both come with features that can limit your usage

of certain apps.

On my iPhone, I use Screen Time to limit the amount of time I can spend on social media

and … other distracting apps

On my computer, I use an app called Focus that blocks all my browsers from visiting

any predefined set of distracting websites.

Focus is only available on Mac, but I've also heard great things about Freedom, which is available on windows.

The hardest part in any behavior change is just starting.

If you're watching this video, this likely isn't the first time that you've heard

of social media addiction and been encouraged to consider curbing your social media use.

I'm not saying you need to quit, but a controlled rather than compulsive relationship is going

to help you.

With this healthier approach, you won't only be a more effective and productive student,

but you'll also be happier and less stressed, as supported by the literature.
